A pillar of light ripped the night sky above the Temple of Time. A dark cloud descended from Death Mountain. A terrible voice split the night air. "YESSSS AT LAST…." The people in the Market looked up as the dark cloud descended among them. Out of it stepped a man, his dark eyes shining in the night. "Now," he said in a cruel voice, "Tell me where the boy called Link now resides." One brave man stepped forward. "No chance in Hell you're going to get us to spill." "Pity," said the man, gesturing behind his back. "Because these Stalfos think otherwise." Two Stalfos jumped out from behind his back and drew their swords. The man still stood his ground. "Still no chance in Hell of us telling you." "This is a Hell." Said the man, and in one gesture drew his sword and sliced the man in half. "Now," He said menacingly, "Where is he?"

The clear notes echoed across the empty field. Link looked up at the clear blue sky. He sighed, and put away his Ocarina. He looked sadly over the sea, and a single tear escaped his eye. Epona nudged him with her nose, whinnying softly. He stroked her absentmindedly while he thought. Why could he never have anything he wanted? Why did everyone he love leave him? Zelda, Saria, Malon. Malon. He had thought that he loved her, but she never loved him. She had run away with some Hylian Prince, apparently in 'love'. Wasn't he enough? He had saved all of Hyrule, and SHE didn't think him good enough!

Link pulled out his Ocarina and began to play Epona's Song. This song was taught to him as a child by Malon. He swayed with the music, remembering how he had helped her over the years. Epona whinnied loudly, and Link looked up. He gasped. Standing on a hill, her hair blowing in the wind, was Malon. Link stood up and began to run towards her. Her face lit up in a smile then she vanished.

Link fell to his knees in despair. Suddenly he was thrown backward by an almighty crack, and a Sheika appeared. She was dressed in blue, much as Sheik had been. "Rise Hero of Time," said the Sheika. Link rose to his feet and walked warily towards her. "Hyrule is in need of your courage." Said the Sheika. "Ganondorf has defiled the Temple of Time," she said grimly. "He has his mind set on possessing all of the Triforce pieces. He will kill you and Zelda in order to get them." "How do you know all of this?" Asked Link. The Sheika smiled, then snapped her fingers. In a flash of light Zelda appeared, smiling at him.

Link's hear skipped a beat and he smiled in spite of himself. "It's been a long time Link." Said Zelda. Her blonde hair shone in the sun, and her eyes gleamed. "Is it really you?" Asked Link quietly. "Yes." Said Zelda, looking deep into his eyes. "It is me. You look just like I remembered. You still have that defiant look in your eye, even after all of these years." Link smiled as she put her hand to his face. "I've missed you so much Link." She said, hugging him.

Link pulled away with a sad look on his face. "Why do we always meet when the whole world is about to fall apart?" He asked sadly. Zelda shook her head. "I truly don't know Link, all I know is that the heartbreak in your life these years has kept you from feeling his presence. I blame myself Link. If I hadn't let myself fall in love with you this never would have happened." "I'm glad you did Zelda." Said Link, pulling her into his arms.
