Summary/Disclaimer: Time for another chapter of The Dragon and her rook. Enjoy the 900-word chapter. I don't own RWBY, Monty Oum, and Rooster Teeth do.

(Atlas, Alsius, 1 day after Cordially Invited.)

Skyler questioned if Yang was ok. He was guessing that she was considering she had sent a message every half hour.

That was a good sign, it told him that she was busy handling the groundwork for their plan. He just needed to make sure it wasn't offset before they were ready for it.

"Hmm, now I need to make sure Penny is ready for her part in this," Skyler stated as he tucked his scroll into his pocket.

It didn't take him a while to notice that Winter was watching him. He paid the specialist no mind, he didn't care if she reported him to General Ironwood.

'Someone has to take a stand against Merlot before he's entrenched in the city. If the council is too busy fighting each other over the fate of their election? Then I'll do something for them.' Skyler thought as he left for the hanger.

"Yang, how well are the defenses below holding up?" Skyler asked as he continued to tap buttons on his scroll.

"Slowly, we've barely managed to get enough to fix a few holes," Yang said as Skyler sighed and rubbed at his temples.

Robyn's constant attempts to stick it to the Atlesian government were going to damn the entire kingdom. Her and Ironwood's relentless bickering was one of the reasons he hated this assignment.

Still? He and Yang had come up with a plan to make sure things were good.

"Can you ask Penny if she can talk to her dad?" Skyler questioned as he boarded a Manta. "I have a plan, we're going to figure out how to get enough supplies, though. Maybe we can look towards the smaller companies. I'm going to have to ask Weiss." Skyler said while he cracked the fingers on his cybernetic arm.

The pilot took him towards the city, detaching from the docks which kept it locked in place.

Skyler risked a glance over his shoulder towards Atlas. There was no doubt going to be hell to pay over this, but he didn't care. Merlot's grip on the city seemed to be increasing every single day and the more they fought like this?

The worse things would be. Skyler pondered just HOW bad things would be when he thought about it when he questioned it would get before, they had won this. The problem with this? There would be nothing left to save possibly.

"Sometimes you have to be the monster to destroy one…." Skyler stated to himself and looked at his artificial limb. "Is that what my uncle is doing? Putting the greater good above himself? Or is he willing to do what it takes to secure his power?" Skyler questioned, unhappy about what was going to be done.

He closed his eyes, curious about the next move. They had to get the defensive walls back up before anything. They couldn't rest until the shields, and such were back online, then they could move towards supplies which Skyler hoped someone was ready to contribute.

But knowing them? That would be almost down to nothing at the end of the day. They could only rely on themselves when Skyler thought about it. Skyler hoped it didn't come to it, but if it did? Then he'd be prepared for the worst. There was only so much he could do to try and stem the tide of this war and the last thing Skyler wanted was to go into it without giving them even somewhat of a fighting chance against their enemy, to begin with.

"So many details and I'm still handling ground ops," Skyler muttered as he started to lean into the wall, almost praying for a revive at this. There had to be some strategy. "Maybe Yang will come up with something. She seems good at thinking on her feet for a newcomer to the military, I'm starting to think she'll make officer sooner or later." Skyler added as he scratched at his chin, unsure of the move to make.

Did he go into war knowing something was going to break? Did he try and fight against the rising tide? There were so many moves to make, yet so little hadn't been thought of, to fight a war without being ready for the enemy. It was something that Skyler had dealt with before, but not under these types of circumstances, and not under this type of pressure.

Did he envy his uncle, but yet? He still had to soldier on, there was going to be plenty of work to do when it comes down to it.

"Ok, it's time to get on the ground then, focusing on duty." Skyler put in about work, crossing his arms over his chest at the moment.

The Manta continued to descend into Mantle as Skyler prepared himself for the worst.
