Summary/Disclaimer: Time for another chapter of The Dragon and her rook. Enjoy the 900-word chapter. I don't own RWBY, Monty Oum, and Rooster Teeth do.
(Atlas, Alsius, 1 day after Cordially Invited.)
Yang heard footsteps behind her as she turned to look over her shoulder, snow continued to fall as the Manta slowly lifted into the sky as Skyler approached her, his eyes scanning over the ice-covered square.
"You, ok?" Skyler asked as he looked up at the sky and held out his hand to catch a snowflake. "I've never seen it snow inside the city like this. It will be dangerous if it keeps up, I cannot believe that Merlot would be like this." Skyler said as he sighed.
Yang was silent, unsure how best to talk about this at the moment. Skyler shook his head and sighed, slowly looking back down at Yang. He was quite interested when it came down to it, today was NOT a good day to be living in the city.
"Yeah, there's been less Grimm currently. I don't know if they're waiting at the moment." Yang said, crossing her arms as she nodded. "I don't know what's going on at the time, everything here is different," Yang added as Skyler nodded.
"Yeah, Atlas is beginning to become less safe for people," Skyler said as he sighed, too annoyed to think more clearly.
His uncle was making so many choices that would and probably would pull the kingdom apart. He couldn't understand how this helped anyone. How did ripping down the kingdom they had strode to protect in an act of martial law. How did this help people? How did his uncle think this was so much better?
He needed to talk to him, but he was beginning to think his uncle was more obsessed with keeping himself as the hero he thought he was. It was scaring more and more when he thought about it.
"Sky, you, ok?" Yang questioned as Skyler nodded, more concerned with the fate of his home. "I've heard the Ace-Ops talking about something, they want you to go talk to your uncle about something soon," Yang said as Skyler shook his head.
More snow continued falling, it almost seemed like a dream to Skyler. It was something he'd consider beautiful if it wasn't deadly to the rest of the city.
"You know I'm not trying to destroy Atlas, it's my home," Skyler said, brushing the snow off his coat as he did so. "This place doesn't deserve to be caught in the middle of a power struggle like this," Skyler said as he looked back up at the sky with interest.
"Is your uncle usually like this?" Yang asked, her voice starting to slowly wind down. "I'm not happy with what he's been doing, but something tells me he's not usually one who'd do something like this," Yang said as she scratched at her neck.
Her eyes dilated slowly as Skyler thought about what he would say, he was NOT happy at the moment for what his uncle had done… But he knew he couldn't blame it ALL on him, this contest wasn't one born of his uncle's sheer stubbornness.
"No, he's heavy-handed, but he'd never destroy Atlas over something like this," Skyler said, tucking his hands into his pockets as he leaned on a lamppost. "Because right now? I have more work to do which my uncle isn't making easy at all when it comes down onto it." Skyler added before he hummed to what happened to what next.
There was plenty of interest in what the state of Atlas would be. Skyler was not stupid when it came down to it, but he wasn't going to throw down and let people die it wasn't at all what he planned on doing. The longer this went on. The more people would suffer.
'I can't understand how General Ironwood has such loyal soldiers in the military. People love him, but he keeps dealing with things worse and worse. It won't be long before there's martial law and everyone suffers.' Yang thought before she crossed her arms over her chest.
She couldn't blame them all when it comes down to it. There was plenty of work to be done before Atlas returned to normal. If anything? She just had to stay on this path before something was done at the moment.
Skyler was quite done with this constant cat and mouse game. If it was so easy? He'd be done with it and moving on when it came down to it. Still? He planned on being done with it came down to it.
He could scarcely believe something like that was so easily done. Skyler turned to Yang, a frown forming on his features. He couldn't stay here, there was still work to be done.
He turned to walk away, eager to get on with the next assignment. There was plenty to be done before the night ended.
