This is a sonnet I wrote for my English Twelfth Night, Act II creative project. It's supposed to be a sonnet from Orsino to Olivia, declaring his love for her. It's a Shakespearean sonnet so it's iambic pentameter and has that specific rhyme scheme. This is the first sonnet I've ever written and I'm quite proud of it, even if it is a bit over the top. The character(s) are Shakespeare's but the writing is all mine.

How sweet the bells of Cupid's charms do ring

So clear and true within my aching core,

As melancholy zephyrs softly sing

The style of fair Olivia once more.

What fair feature of my lady's doth not

Excite my soul into euphoric bliss?

Her cheeks doth glitter with moonstone globes got

From Sorrow's kingdom of twilit abyss.

An ethereal maiden come from high,

The Heavens shamed by my lady's pure light.

My being breathes out to her in each sigh

And passion of my soul she doth ignite.

Yet denied is my love and flayed my heart

As Sorrow's frigid grasp doth not depart.
