EDINBURGH, LATE MAY
William had requested Aang's help. Hamish specifically said that he would arrive in Edinburgh in three days. It had now been a six weeks. William wasn't sure if he should be mad or concerned. Hamish's one relayed message was only the contact William had with Aang in a couple years. They were each busy fighting their own battles. But now, they had a common goal: winning another war.
It was about noon that whole Gaang had arrived in Edinburgh by flying on Appa. In the giant saddle was everybody that Aang and Katara could find. It included Toph, Lin, Suyin, Sokka, Suki, Ty Lee, a couple other Kyoshi Warriors, Haru, Teo, and the Freedom Fighters.
William was in the foreign affairs room when the Gaang landed in front of the castle.
"Father, they're here", William Jr said as he came in.
"Who?"
"Aang and Katara. They flew in on Appa. And they brought a lot of people with them. I'm assuming every one of them will help us."
"I'm coming. Junior, get your brothers and get them in front of the fireplace so you all can greet everyone once they come in."
"Yes, father."
William got up immediately and ran out front to where Appa had landed.
"Hello, old friend. It's good to see that you can still fly far.", William said as he gave Appa a couple pats. Appa let out a quiet growl as his way to greet William.
Haru jumped off Appa first.
"Haru! Top of the morning to you, laddy!", William said as he gave William a quick bro hug.
"It's good to see you again, William. Hey, do you have a bathroom anywhere?"
"Inside, upstairs"
"Thanks." Haru ran inside and in the blink of an eye, disappeared".
Teo got off next.
"Teo, how've you been-"
"Yeah, yeah. Good to see you. Am I getting paid for this?", he said as he rolled past William and inside.
All the Freedom Fighters got off next. They included Smellerbee, Pipsqueak, Longshot, and The Duke.
"William, we're honored to fight alongside you for such a worthy cause.", Smellerbee said.
"Thanks. I really needed fighters with that spirit."
After they went inside, Ty Lee and the other Kyoshi Warriors got off.
"William!", Ty Lee said in an overly positive way as she hugged him without warning. "This is going to be so fun! As a warrior myself, I live for days like this!" Ty Lee was stereotypical valley girl who was overly optimistic and tried to find the good in every situation.
"...Ok? I guess so..."
"I'm so glad you agree.", she said as she ran inside. The other Kyoshi Warriors passed William without saying anything, indicating that after 25 years, the rest of them were still more mature and mellow than Ty Lee.
To complete the Kyoshi Warriors, Suki got off next. Just like the others before her, she was an honorary member of the Gaang. She got off and gave William a more mellow hug than Ty Lee.
"Thanks for having us here. Everything came as quite a surprise. Of course, I will get to fight with you out on the front line, right?"
"Of course. You're very skilled and have great knowledge of hand to hand combat. We'll be fighting soon enough. There you can feel free to demonstrate it."
"Good to know." She then went inside.
Next came Sokka. He and William tightly hugged one another as they had not seen each other in 5 years. Aside from being close friends, he was pretty much William's closest military ally.
"Hey, man! How've you been?", Sokka said.
"Well...you know."
"Yeah. But listen, I'm more than honored to be back. So where are all the weapons at? Where are the swords? And the food...Where's the meat?!"
"Calm down, Sokka. There's plenty of both. We'll eat plenty of meat for dinner. And tomorrow we'll begin practicing with many swords of many different sizes and shapes. But for now, go inside. I'm sure those topics will be very interesting to all my sons."
"Oh yeah. I haven't seen them in..."
"5 years."
"Right"
Sokka then ran inside.
Aang and Katara got off and William initiated a big hug between the three of them. Katara had become like a sister to William, while Aang was his best friend.
"William, sweetie", Katara started. "I'm terribly sorry we didn't get her sooner but we tried to get all the help we could-"
William cut her off. "It's alright, Katara. You've done good bringing them here. We need all the help we can get. So thank you for that." He hugged her and she went inside.
"As you can see, I got your message.", Aang said. "Hamish has really grown up."
"He certainly has. So, is Stephen acting like a king on that island? Or is he as immature as others his age?"
"Well he hasn't sank the island or burned down the air temple. So, yes. He must be doing something right."
"I'm glad to hear that. Now go inside. The other three haven't seen you in 2 years."
"Ok. Oh, and on our way here, I took one last detour to get a few more familiar faces if you don't mind."
"Who'd you get?"
"Look up", Aang said as he walked past William and went inside.
Getting off Appa was none other than Toph. She landed on the ground and faced William. They hadn't seen each other in almost 10 years. She was her black, metal police uniform, but her hair was still in the traditional bun it had always been in. For a few seconds, they just starred at each other until William broke the silence.
"Toph...", he said.
"William...", she said.
"It's good to you decided to come back."
"I didn't want to"
"Then why are you here?"
"They convinced me otherwise"
"Who?"
The last two people to get off Appa were Lin and Suyin. While Suyin just stared at William, Lin ran to him and hugged him.
"Hi, dad", she said happily. "I missed you so much"
"I missed you too, my wee darling. I told you I would see you again."
"I started to doubt it. But I'm glad we're back now."
"Ah, yes. We."
"...Oh. Yeah."
William turned toward Suyin. She slowly walked toward him.
"So...You're my dad?", she asked.
"Yes, Suyin. I am."
"You're not quite how Mom described you."
"Well she probably exaggerated the truth a little bit."
As Toph walked past them, she punched William on the arm, showing that nothing had changed since they last saw each other. As all four of them walked towards the front door, all the brothers came out at the same time.
"Mother? Mother!", William Jr said as he ran towards her. All five brothers hugged her, especially Stephen, who remembered her the least.
"Mother I'm even more glad than any of us that you're back.", Stephen said.
"No, you're not. You don't even remember her. But I do.", William Jr said.
"I believe I was her favorite son.", Robert said.
"You have horse manure for brains if you believe that!"
"I will kill you with my thumb!"
"Boys!", Toph shouted. "I missed all of you. Now act civil. I may not have seen you in a long time, but you all know how I'm capable of punishing you when you're acting up. Understand?"
"Yes, mother.", all of them said at the same time."
The boys then hugged and greeted the girls, whom they also hadn't seen in almost 10 years. They appeared to resume the sibling rivalry right where it left off. All of them went inside and joined the others.
