FALKIRK FIELD, DOUGLAS PROVINCE, DAWN, MARCH 17

Morning arrived in Falkirk. It was March so it was getting warmer and the snow had begun to melt. At dawn, the field was completely empty and nobody was there. However, a few Scottish troops came onto the field and poured oil all over the grass. It seemed questionable, but it had a purpose.

NOON

The battle was about to begin. Clan Avatar had brought with them 15,000 Scots and 400 troops from the Water Tribe, while the English had 25,000 soldiers.

William Jr, Robert, Hamish, Campbell, and Morrison made their way through the crowd to the front wearing leather body armor and carrying large swords, except Hamish who carried a battle axe. They got to the front where William, Sokka, the Kyoshi Warriors, the Freedom Fighters, and Stephen were. The rest of the Gaang was also up there.

"Zuko isn't coming.", Aang said.

"He'll come.", William said. "Look. Mornay and Lochlan are here. If they showed up, so will Zuko."

"Well, I hope you're right. In that case, we'll leave here to do your thing. Good luck."

Aang and Katara then left and settled towards the back of the crowd.

"You be careful out there", Toph said to William.

"Don't worry about me. If I die, my conscience is clear. Remember that."

"I'm not worried...whatever.", Toph said before leaving. She tried to not act worried, but she was. Her husband and all five of her sons were going into battle.

Aang, Katara, and Toph had to stay behind, and for good reason. Sometime after the Hundred Year War, Aang gathered together all the other world leaders to make specific rules for engagement in future wars to ensure that the nations at least remained civil if they fought each other. One of the rules stated that nonbenders would go into battle first. After one side was worn down enough, they would order their benders into battle and the opposing side would then do the same.

On the other side of battlefield, Longshanks was in the back of the crowd on horseback. He turned to a knight in full body armor including a helmet that completely masked his face.

"Quite a lovely day for a bloodbath. Wouldn't you agree?"

The knight nodded.

A high ranking commander then turned to Longshanks and said, "The archers are ready, sir."

"Let's not use the archers right away. My instincts tell me that the Scots' archers are miles away and are no threat at all. Arrows cost money. Use up the Irish. If they're dead, they cost nothing. And then sent in the infantry and calvary."

The battle started with soldier ordering the Irish infantry of 300 soldiers to advance. The Irish soldiers, who were also in kilts like the Scottish, pointed their spears forward and slowly began making their way across the battlefield. A ways behind them, the English infantry also started to advance.

As they got closer, the Scottish, with William and the others in front, also began walking across the field. As both groups got closer and closer, they picked up speed and went from walking to jogging to running. The Scottish also pointed their weapons forward and it appeared that an epic fight was about to begin.

They got closer and closer until they all stopped right in front of each other. Longshanks was confused until the Irish and the Scottish walked up and shook each other's hands, greeting each other.

He thought the bribe worked, but Stephen and the Irish council, who had always pledged to remain loyal to Scotland, had double-crossed him behind his back. Under his breath, Longshanks muttered, "Irish...Damn them.", in disgust.

In the crowd, Stephen happily said to William and Sokka, "I told you it was my island."

"Nice work, son", William said. "I'll take it from here." He then stood on William Jr and Robert's shoulders and told the Irish, "Watch this." He then waved a giant green flag in the air.

Scottish archers, who were hidden amongst the benders, stepped forward and fired flaming arrows into air. They flew all the way to where the English calvary was, which just so happened to be the same area of grass that they dumped oil onto. The arrows hit the ground, causing the grass to go up in flames and set the English soldiers on fire. They began screaming and most of them perished to the flames.

The English infantry who were in front of them, now charged at the Scottish and Irish. When the two sides met, swords clanked against one another. Hamish swung and hit soldiers with his battle axe while everyone else battled with their swords. Both sides suffered heavy losses.

After several minutes, when the fire began spreading to their area of the battlefield, William grabbed a black flag and waved it towards Mornay and Lochlan's men. At first, both of them just stood there doing nothing. Then, both nobles and their turned around and rode away. William saw this and realized they betrayed him and that they had been bribed by Longshanks. He became enraged, but had no choice but keep fighting where he was.

Seconds later, Aang, Katara, Toph, and the 150 benders they brought with them took the field. A few more seconds later, the English benders took the field.

At the same time, the Notre Dame monks came onto the field to recover dead Irish and Scottish troops. There was another rule stating that monks who recovered soldiers to give them a proper burial weren't allowed to be targeted.

On the other side of the field, the commander next to Longshanks said, "Mornay and Lochlan, sir?"

"Yes. I promised Mornay to double his estates in England. Lochlan did it for nothing though. But of course I'm going to tell them when this war is over that they get nothing except my loyalty. Now, the archers."

"Excuse me sir, but won't we hit our own troops?"

"Yes. But it'll hit theirs as well. And we have plenty of reserves...Attack."

"Archers!"

The English archers then stepped forward and fired arrows at the field. The arrows hit soldiers both sides, but the Scottish were hit the most. Dozens of soldiers were hit. As Bastien was dragging a soldier off to the side, he was hit twice in the chest and fell to the ground. Sokka was hit in the arm, Aang and Robert in the leg, and William Jr in the hand.

"Send in the reinforcements", Longshanks told the commander.

"Reinforcements!", the commander yelled. Extra English infantry were then sent in to finish off the Scottish.

Longshanks said to another commander, "Bring me MacKay's head. Alive if possible. If dead, just ok." He turned towards the first commander and said, "Spread news of our victory." He then turned towards the masked knight and said, "Shall we retire?" He then rode away with many high ranking commanders.

A few seconds later, on the field, William was hit in the shoulder with an arrow. He then broke off the back half of it and killed one more soldier before seeing Longshanks ride away. He then grabbed a surviving horse from the English calvary and raced towards him. Aang meanwhile, saw William take off and he grabbed Katara, Sokka, and Toph and they all followed William off the field, using their individual bending to gain speed.

In a smaller field, on the other side of some trees that separated it from the battle, William was riding as fast he could towards Longshanks and his surrounding men. A soldier turned towards the masked knight and said, "Protect the king." The knight grabbed his jousting stick and turned around charging towards William.

When the knight got close enough, William surprised him by jumping off his horse into the air and onto his horse, knocking both of them off. Aang, Katara, and Toph then caught up to them.

They both were lying on the ground and William got up first. As the knight was slowly getting up, all of them walked towards him. William grabbed a dagger and was prepared to kill him. He ripped his helmet off so that everyone could see and was shocked beyond belief when it was revealed to be Zuko.

Aang, Katara, and Toph's faces turned to shock and sadness. William, who was more shocked than all of them, slowly backed away in confusion. He dropped the helmet and then his dagger. He then dropped down on his knees and eyes began to tear up. Everyone was completely silent, unable to comprehend Zuko's betrayal.

When he saw the look on all their faces, Zuko's face began to change as well. He was instructed to protect Longshanks by killing William, but after seeing their reactions, he no longer had the heart to do it.

William then turned around and saw about 20 English soldiers running towards them. He dropped onto his back in exhaustion. Zuko ran up to him and attempted to help him up, but William immediately told him to stop.

Then, from their left, Sokka came up on horseback and was also surprised to see Zuko.

Fearing the soldiers would kill William, Zuko grabbed him and threw him onto Sokka's horse and yelled, "Get him out of here! Go! Go!"

Sokka, with William, rode away on horseback while Aang followed behind on an air scooter, Katara on a wave of water, and Toph using the earth as momentum to push her forward. The soldiers continued chasing after them, but were eventually outrun.

Zuko meanwhile, was left standing on the field, not knowing what to think.
