Pansy Weasley perched on the end of Hermione's bed and took in the changes. Her mind flashing back to the Cassiopeia Malfoy she remembered from her childhood, merging her with Hermione Nott for the first time since the entire affair had been revealed.

"Are you ready for this?" She asked with uncharacteristic gentleness.

Hermione looked at her for a moment before she nodded. "As ready as I'll ever be. Pans, what if it wasn't random, what if it was someone we knew?"

"Do you truly believe it was random?"

"No." she sighed, "Maybe random wasn't the right word. Opportunistic."

Pansy nodded at her in understanding. "You're worried someone we knew or know, planned this rather than you just having been in the wrong place at the wrong time."

"Yes. And given what they done, it's likely, isn't it?"

"Yes. Yes it's likely." Pansy sighed. "They obliviated you and tied a glamour to your magical core. That's pretty advanced magic, Hermione. Either they planned and practised or they were extraordinarily powerful. They were also clever enough to get you out of our world. How many of our set had any real experience of the muggle world? Hell before you and Harry, I had no idea what a policeman was! However they also cared enough to keep you safe, they didn't just dump you and they must have known you'd come back to our world eventually, so it wasn't personal. Or it wasn't personal to you, it may have been punishment for your parents. "

Hermione nodded as she processed that, unable to argue with Pansy's logic.

"Thanks for being here." She said instead, not sure how to put what she was feeling into words.

Pansy smiled at her gently, "Any time, Granger. I thought you'd realised by now that you're stuck with me."

Before she could reply the healers came into the room, causing her to tense.

"Good morning, Mrs Nott. How are you feeling? You gave us all quite a scare." A tall dark haired woman with kind eyes smiled at her. She couldn't remember her name.

"Better, Healer…?"

"Ah Healer Greenwood, Mrs Nott. My apologies, the last time we met was a bit intense wasn't it?"

"You could say that Healter Greenwood." Hermione replied drily.

The Healer laughed. "With your permission, Mrs Nott, Healer Greyson and I are going to have a look to see if there's any gaps or locked memories from around the time of your disappearance. It shouldn't hurt but you will be aware of our presence and you can ask us to stop at any point."

Hermione nodded as Andromeda came into the room. "Where's Theo?" she asked, looking around the room.

"I sent him home for a shower half an hour ago, he hasn't left since I was admitted and the mediwitch told us it was unlikely to be for a while." Hermione replied. "He left Pansy as a babysitter."

Andromeda stifled a laugh at her niece's slightly put out look, "Do you want him here, Hermione?"

"I….Yes." she admitted to her Aunt, feeling annoyed at her sudden dependence.

Andromeda nodded, "It's alright to need him here, Hermione. You've had a lot to cope with in a relatively short period of time. Add in the fact you were already feeling more vulnerable due to the pregnancy, I'd have been surprised if you didn't need him." she said softly, taking in her nieces expression.

She turned to the healers, "Give me a moment please ladies."

The healers nodded in understanding as Andromeda conjured a patronus to send a message to Theo. Five minutes later he burst into the room, hair damp and out of breath. Hermione exhaled in relief as she reached for him, deciding to take her Aunt's words to heart and stop fighting her need to keep him close. Pansy smiled slightly, "I'll just go and wait outside, Granger. Let me know who you need help to murder once you know." She said with a wink.

Healer Greyson glanced at her in alarm before registering that everyone else was smiling. "Ready Mrs Nott?"

Hermione nodded and immediately she felt the Healer enter her mind. It was a strange experience, feeling someone rummaging through her memories. For several minutes she saw her life flash through her mind at rapid speed before she felt the Healer pause, poking at something.

Several minutes later she felt the second Healer poke at the same thing, she could see them frowning in front of her, their wands moving as they murmured incantations.

Finally after what felt like hours she felt a burst of pain that caused her to cry out but that ended as quickly as it had begun. And then an image of Albus Dumbeldores face swam into her mind as he smiled patronisingly down at her. She thought she caught something about "The Greater Good."

The healers removed themselves from her mind looking grim.

"What? What happened?" Theo demanded looking from Hermione to the Healers.

"We know what happened to your wife Mr Nott. Although it is not clear why." Healer Greenwood said gently. "Mrs Nott, how are you feeling?"

Hermione raised her eyes to the Healer unable to comprehend what she now knew. "I...fine. Numb. Why would he do that?"

"We don't know, Mrs Nott. I suspect you saw exactly the same as we did. We'll pass it back to the aurors and see if they can find out."

"Will someone please tell me what is going on?" Theo begged.

Hermione looked at him, still not sure she believed what her mind was telling her. "It was Dumbledore, Theo."

She registered Andromeda's gasp as she stared helplessly at her husband, as if waiting on him to tell her she was wrong.

"Dumbledore?" he repeated dumbly. "Professor Dumbledore?"

"Yes." she whispered.

"But….but why?"
