A/N: From this point on the story will be told in the first person point of view except when it is necessary to explain some of the story. If you've been reading fanfics for a long time then you probably already know this but in case you're new, if a quote is italicized then it means it is in a different language. There will be times when I use Na'vi words in an English sentence and if I do I will put it's translation at the end of the chapter.

First POV:

Before I even started to come out of cryo sleep I could feel Pandora's energy seemingly give my body a restart. I felt revitalized, restless. But I was unable to bring myself to open my eyes, to move any part of my body, not right then. But when I did wake up, my eyes shot open faster than I thought possible. My vision was blurry at first but as my eyes adjusted to the fairly limited about of light created by the dim, fluorescent blue light inside the chamber, I saw several small water droplets floating around in the air, and two of them merged into one a few inches from my face, we were definitely still in space.

At first I didn't realize where I was or how I had gotten there. You know that fog you get after one of those 5+ hour naps? It felt like that with a side of tequila shots and an ass whooping for your brain. I suddenly felt the jolt of my cryo chamber opening, and as I blinked to help my eyes adjust to the sudden boost in light I took in the scene I hadn't seen in almost 6 years. My fellow scientists and avatar drivers, mercenaries, and other people who had been hired by the RDA to tend to various jobs on Pandora, were floating around inside of the massive room as others were being taken out of their cryo chambers with the help of medics and technicians.

Right on cue, a techie came over to check on me. "How far out are we?" I asked her as she checked my arm, making sure I had mobility. "Not far now." She said as she unstrapped me before floating off to another chamber. Just then The chamber next to mine slid out, revealing my brother as a male techie came to check on him. "Are we there yet?" "Yeah, we're there sunshine. We're there." The medic responded as he patted Jake's arm, unstrapped him and floated off. A few moments later the same techie started yelling "You've been in cryo for 5 years, 9 months and 22 days. You will be hungry, you will be weak. If you feel nausea please use the sacks..." I tuned him out, knowing where the bags were even though I didn't feel nauseous.

Jake looked around before spotting me, relief in his eyes. "Hey." "Hey." We whispered to each other before floating off towards our lockers that contained our smaller personal items. I saw my brother stare at the name on his locker for a moment with a look of regret and sorrow in his eyes before I myself looked at it and saw why. Either the people in charge of labeling the lockers had forgotten to change the name or they just hadn't cared to. The name on the locker read "Sully, T" short for Thomas Sully instead of "Sully, J" for Jake Sully. Just another reminder that our brother was gone and Jake was just replacing him.

I had a variety of items that I had brought along but Jake had only brought a few items. When he opened his locker I saw him taking incredible care with an item that he had taken the liberty of wrapping in several layers of bubble wrap. I could barely see through the semi-transparent wrappings but I could see just enough of the pattern to recognize what the item was. The hand painted patterns and paintings of Pandoran wildlife and plants on the clay container was unmistakable, especially since I was the one who had made it.

It was Tommy's urn.

I had made it the day after he had died to replace the plain, colorless, wooden urn they had originally put his ashes in. I had given it to Jake so he could decide where to spread the ashes since I thought he knew Tommy better than I did. "You brought it.. I mean.. Him here." I said as I stared in awe at the clay container. "He devoted 10 years of his life to this mission. He deserves to complete it in at least some small way." Jake stated as he too stared at the plastic wrapped urn as he rotated it in his hands. "He would have liked that.." I stated simply. "Hard to believe it's been 6 years since he died. Feels like a week ago." "For us it was a week ago. It's been 6 years for the rest of the world."

After we finished collecting the last of our small personal items we went off to find our larger bags that contained things such as our clothes that we had decided to bring from earth. We were then directed to changing rooms to change out of the scrub-like clothes we had been given before we went into cryo 6 years ago. Right as I was leaving the changing rooms a thought crossed my mind. 'Where is...' "Céleste! Céleste! Over here." 'Speak of the devil..' I thought to myself as I turned myself around to see my best friend floating towards me in the zero gravity. "Hey Rylie. How you feeling?" "Like I just took the best nap of my life." She stated. Her ability to hold her liquor must have also helped her fight off the cryo-hangover that I was feeling. "Well I wouldn't get used to it. I don't think they'll have cryo chambers for nightly use at the base." I said, to which Rylie chuckled. "Ready to meet Pandora?" I asked. "I've been ready since we started this program 10.. sorry, 16 years ago." Rylie said before a techie directed us towards a long tube-like thing with a ladder running through it that led us to the shuttle that would take us to the surface.

Right as I left the tube and entered the shuttle I heard what sounded like metal hitting metal coming from the tube. Sure enough a few seconds later Jake emerged from the tube, wheelchair folded up under his arm, which was probably what had been making the noise. "Any trouble on the way up?" I asked him. "Just felt a little cramped thanks to this thing." He said, referring to his wheelchair. "The lack of gravity helped though." he finished before another techie directed him towards the seating area for the rest of the grunt's. (That's what we scientists had affectionately named the mercenary group) A few minutes later the whole shuttle shook as it detached from the ship and we began our descent towards the planet's atmosphere/

After we had all been debriefed by the head of security, an older looking white military man with a nasty set of claw mark scars running along the right side of his head, everyone was sent to acquaint themselves with the facility. Me being one of the biologists immediately set out to find the Bio-lab.

I arrived at the lab just after Norm and Jake. Norm was pointing towards the link room but Jake's eyes were locked onto something else. The large, blue tanks that contained their avatars. "Damn, they got big." My brother said in amazement as he stared at the 9-foot tall creatures suspended in the clear blue liquid inside the tanks. "Yeah they fully mature on the flight out.." "So the proprioceptive sims seem to work pretty well." I cut in. They both looked up, surprised but happy to see me. "Yeah, they've got great muscle tone. It'll take us a few hours to get 'em decanted, but you guys can take them out tomorrow." Said the other scientist. A stout, brown skinned man with a curly mop of hair. "There's yours." He said to Jake as he pointed to the avatar in the other tank. As my brother wheeled himself to go look at his avatar Norm and I introduced ourselves to the scientist, who's name was Dr. Max Patel. Apparently he was the co-senior scientist of the Avatar program, and he was the person we would go to if anything was ever wrong with our avatars.

After formally introducing ourselves we all gathered around Jake as he stared at his new avatar with wonder and curiosity. "Looks like him." He said after a moment. Truly it did look just like our brother. "No, looks like you. This is your avatar now Jake."

While Norm was showing Jake how the video logs worked I happened to spot my own avatar. It was in a corner on the other side of the room as Jake and Norm's. Their was another avatar in a tank next to mine. From the facial features and unmistakable grin that was plastered on the comatose avatar's face I knew it was Rylie's. My avatar looked like.. Well.. like me, with some differences of course. Of course, it had striped blue skin that was darker than normal (which was common amongst avatars who's drivers were of minority ethnic groups) and freckles that ran across her face, nose, and pretty much everywhere else on her body in lines.

However, she did have the same untamable mane of hair that almost covered her feline like ears, which, along with her fingers and toes, occasionally twitched. Unconsciously I placed a hand against the glass, completely entranced, so much so that I didn't notice Jake come up to me. "She looks like you." He said, equally amazed. I nodded, "It's almost like looking at a distorted reflection.. She makes me wonder if this is what my mom looked like when she was my age.." I trailed off. "Think she'll have eyes like you?" He asked. "It could be possible. However, despite blue eyes being the dominant trait in my genes, they made the avatars so that we could blend in with the Na'vi. On the slimmest off chance it does.." My sentence cut short, hearing someone coming out of a link pod.

"Who's got my goddamn cigarette?" We turned, spotting an older looking white woman, reddish orange hair, brown eyes, and had an air of authority about her. I looked over at Norm, "Is that..?" "Dr. Augustine? Yeah, she'll be our boss for the next five years, she's practically legend, she wrote the entire book on Pandoran botany." Max leaned over, "That's cause she likes plants more than people.." A techie had scurried over to her with a lit cigarette, passing it to her as she stretched and cracked stiff joints. When she spoke, people jumped. 'They don't even ask how high..' I was a bit awestruck.

"And here she is, Cinderella back from the ball. Grace I'd like you to meet Norm Spellman-" She cut him off, "Norm, I hear good things about you. How's your Na'vi?" He gave a slight bow, "May the All Mother smile upon our first meeting." Grace nodded, approving of his Na'vi. "Not bad. You sound a little formal." Norm shrugged, a nervous smile on his face. "There is still much to learn." She turned to me with a discerning eye. "You're the 16 year old who passed my tests aren't you?" I nodded, a hand over my heart as I spoke, repeating Norm's Na'vi greeting. She smiled approvingly. "Your Na'vi's a little formal too.. But you'd fit right in." I reached a hand out, "Céleste Siana Sully, at your service. But you can just call me Heaven." She firmly grasped my hand and gave it a shake. "Grace Augustine, I've been looking forward to working with you and your brother. You both were very promising, I'm sorry about what happened to him."

I acknowledged her condolence with a nod and small smile, Max cutting in, "This is Thomas's twin, Jake Sully." I could see the brief confusion that went through her eyes before she rounded on him, "I know who you are. I don't need you, I need your brother. You know, the one with the PhD, who had 10 years of training for this." Jake scoffed, though I could tell he wasn't letting her harsh tone get to him. "Yeah I know, it's a big inconvenience for everybody." "Have you had any lab training? You know how to work a gas chromatograph?" She questioned. He shook his head, "Nope." "Any actual lab work at all?" "In high school." I had to chime in, "You ditched and made me do your homework."

As Grace threw her hands up in exasperation, Jake looked at me, a 'really?' look on his face. "That homework was easy and not worth my time. And you promised me 5 bucks you didn't have. Yes I'm still mad about it." He chuckled as I smiled at him, Grace's rage at his being here not enough to crush his spirit. Grace looked at Max, "You see? You see? I mean they're just pissin' on us without so much as the courtesy to call it rain!" She pushed past a group of techs, "I'm talking to Selfridge." She murmured on her way out. "NO Grace, no that's not a good idea..!" Max yelled to her, but she was gone down the hallway. All of the white coats sighed, Max turning to Jake, "Be here, tomorrow, o-800. Try to use big words."

"Well, that could've gone better." Jake said, spooning whatever crap they'd put onto his plate. We were in the caf, and just like I suspected, the food here makes the food back home look like 5 star restaurant chefs were cooking in the kitchen. Norm sat next to him, Max on his other side, and I spotted Rylie not too far away so I waved her over. "You gotta understand Jake, when Grace heard about Céleste and Thomas, she was really excited. She was hoping to get some headway with two geniuses on the team."

"Now we've got one genius and a-" "Trigger happy moron." Said Rylie as she sat down next to me. We all looked up at her with surprise as she sat down with a plate of the same slop the rest of us had been given. "Grace's words, not mine. I happened to pass by the control tower as she was giving the director the third degree. She's none to happy 'bout a, and I quote 'Jarhead dropout' marine being assigned to the team. " She said before trying some of the slop the chiefs called food. She had barely placed the forkful of food on her tongue when her face turned green and she slid the plate aside. "Surly the Na'vi eat better than this." I laughed at her remark, nodding my head. "They live off the land Carr, they eat to their heart's content." Max decided to chime in on the conversation. "If you're looking for food that you can actually eat, just remind me later to show you to the botany lab's growing room. We have an entire hydroponic growing room that we use to grow edible plants, fruits and vegetables from Earth. We tell the bigwigs who run this place that it's 'to see if Earth plants can grow on Pandora", but we really use it so we in the science department can get better food." The doctor stated. "dang doc. You guys got a little hustle." I said jokingly to which everyone at the table laughed.

We kept talking, exchanging jokes and stories and just engaging in casual conversation when suddenly I felt a chill go down my spine. Rylie immediately noticed my discomfort. "Heaven? You alright?" I nodded, but I couldn't shake the feeling.. "Yeah.. I'm fine, I just.. Can't help but feel like someone's.." I trailed off, looking around the room. People were laughing, talking, eating, but it didn't seem like anyone was watching me, until my eyes locked with a familiar pair of neon green ones. I could only groan as my mood took a nose dive deeper than I thought possible. "Oh no. I almost forgot he existed. Out of hundreds of candidates the RDA just had to choose him.." I facepalmed, damn near driving my head into the table from irritation. "He? Who's 'He'? Do I have to be a big brother?" I heard Jake's voice get gruff, like the way dad's voice would get when he got protective.

I waved him off, "No, it's fine.. It's just.. Ugh, Liam Coffman.. I can't believe I thought my existence on this planet would go unbothered.." Rylie snorted as Norm sighed, Jake and Max's confused expressions leading them to indulge the two about my current 'history' with that annoyance of a man. "Liam Coffman has been after Heaven since she came in the program, and our dear Céleste hasn't given him the time of day. You shoulda seen the time he tried asking her out on the obstacle course, oh my god!" Rylie was practically cackling.

"She was going down the zipline, and he was waiting on the other side. When she landed he just came out to her straight, 'Wanna go out?' She said, and I quote, "I'd rather jump off the back of a banshee mid flight than go out with you." His face was priceless, cause he had no idea what a banshee was-!" And Rylie couldn't keep it together after that. Norm was chuckling a bit too, and while the memory of it was annoying, I couldn't help but laugh either. "You shoulda seen the first time we met. I really thought I made it clear to him that I wasn't interested, but I guess not. And here we are, almost 20 years later.." I let the thought go unfinished, feeling his presence getting closer was throwing me off.

"Hello Coffman.." I grumbled seeing him at the head of the table. He hadn't changed since I saw him last. Same close cropped blonde hair, cheshire cat grin and those irritatingly bright green eyes. He grinned, "Hey there Céleste, aren't you a sight for sore eyes." It was like he completely forgot about the people around us and just zeroed in on me. It made me uncomfortable, but Jake had cut in to grab his attention, clearly trying to keep my irritation at low levels. "Yeah, hey, hi, I'm Jake Sully, Céleste's big brother." Liam looked at him confused but then, "Oooh right! I forgot Thomas told me about his twin brother. He didn't mention you'd be his replacement."

"He didn't plan on dying in the first place, dumbass." I grumbled, I could just barely hold my sneer to myself. Liam chuckled, "Nobody ever does dollface. They feel real lucky that he had a twin, or that would've been 5 billion dollars down the drain." My face didn't change from it's neutral expression, but I broke my plastic spoon having gripped it so hard. The table went silent, and Jake shivered, a light cold sweat had broken out over his face, he didn't envy this man for being on the receiving end of this anger, it was not handed out lightly.

"I have told you… Time after time.. To not call me "doll".. I'm not.. A doll.." My right eye twitched just the slightest bit and even Rylie and the other two could feel my inner wrath. I let the half broken spoon I held fall, my hand curled in a fist as I blinked quickly a couple times before I took a deep breath. 'Pull it together Heaven.. You can do it.. Don't get in trouble on the first day..' "Coffman, it's been… a time, seeing you but you can leave the table now." I said calmly as I placed my spoon pieces on my tray.

Everyone shifted their attention to him, he played it cool, went to speak, but was suddenly interrupted by someone in a military uniform who gestured for him to follow them. "Sure Céleste. I'll see you around." He got up and left and the table collectively breathed a sigh of relief. It was silent for a bit since I was taking a minute to calm down, my happy place was getting harder to get to the more I felt the urge to punch him. Jake was the first to speak. "I'm amazed you gave him a chance, I thought you were gonna skewer him. I haven't seen you that mad in ages."

I nodded, sighing. "I have no reason to be.. But he gets under my skin so bad, just hearin' him speak drives me up the wall. And when he calls me dollface? Ooh that son of a-" I cut myself off yet again, I couldn't lose my cool now. "Max, doesn't this place have a workout room or something? Maybe a boxing area, anything?" He nodded, "It's down the hall from the main area on the 2nd floor." I gave him my thanks and bid my goodbyes. I was itching to fight, and I needed to blow some steam.

Right before I left I heard Max call out to me saying "Hey, I wouldn't worry about having to deal with him too often. His Avatar died during the trip so he won't be joining our team. And since he majored in Geology they'll probably just assign him to look over geographic scans looking for unobtanium." I breathed a mental sigh of relief. The less I had to interact with that annoying pest of a man the better.

Third POV:

As the man in the military uniform led him away from the table only one thought was on Liam Coffman's mind. "That girl will be mine one day." He said to himself under his breath.

After a few minutes of following the military man they came to an airlock that led outside. "Just follow the sounds of gunshots. You'll find your man." the military man said as he closed one end of the airlock. Coffman quickly put on an exopack before exiting the airlock into Pandora's toxic atmosphere. Sure enough, the first thing he heard was a stream of gunshots piercing through the air. He followed the noise until he came upon a makeshift gun range. There must have been 15 crates full of everything from pistols and assault rifles, all the way up to four foot machine guns and freaking rocket launchers. The targets the weapons were being tested on looked to be painted or cut to look like all sorts of Pandoran wildlife, though the majority of them looked like Na'vi.

And for all of the weapons that needed testing, there was only one man at the range. The same man who had given them their safety speech and told them the 'Pandora rules', the head of security Miles Quaritch. "You wanted to see me sir?" Coffman asked when he got closer. "This planet wasn't named after Pandora's box for the hell of it. Everything on this moon can and will shit you out dead with zero warning given the chance. The only thing that keeps you from meeting the worms 6 feet under is having weapons that work. So, you want to give me a hand to make sure this new weapons shipment doesn't leave us high and dry Corporal?"

"Been a long time since anyone's called me that." Coffman said with a slight chuckle as he picked up a pistol and opened fire on the target's down range, landing each shot right on it's intended target. "Well, the rest of the people in your little science club might not know you was in the military, but the RDA security department does more extensive background checks than a paradiod girlfriend." Said Quaritch as he too picked up another firearm and opened fire on the targets. "I was only in for four years, just trying to get some money to start college." Coffman replied. "Yeah, I'd say you got more than you bargained for on that one. Straight to Venezuela when you were barely a month out of boot camp. That was some mean bush down there. Nothing like this here though." The head of security stated before continuing.

"If half the stuff I've heard 'bout the training you avatar drivers go through than I think it would be a waste for the bigwigs runnin' the show to just assign someone with you're experience to be looking over geographic scans simply because your Avatar died. You should be working on the security escorts for the 'dozers or at the mine, or scouting in AMP-suits. If you would rather do that then just be staring at monitors everyday for the next Six years than I could easily pull some strings." The Coronal said. "Hell yeah sir." Was all Coffman said. "Well all right then." Quaritch said as he pulled out another firearm to test.

First POV:

That night after I'd gone to bed.. I had those dreams again.. For as long as I can remember, I had very telling dreams. The days before I decided to take the tests for the program, I had dreams of space. The one about Jake being paralyzed was technically one of them. The weeks prior to Tommy's death I had dreams of running down an alleyway, being trapped by some unknown threat. I'd call it deja vu, cause I get those moments a lot too but it's not.. But that night.. I dreamt a recurring dream of flying through a fog covered rainforest.. Soaring above the clouds.. Feeling the breeze carry me… I felt alive..

"BEEP. BEEP BEEP. BEEP." Rylie's alarm clock went off. The sun was probably peeking through the window but damn the covers kept the light out, I didn't wanna get up.. "Get up Heaven, it's almost 8:30." I never got up so fast, "No way, you're shitting me-!" I looked up from my frantic state, having thrown off my covers, and looking at the clock, seeing the time. "7:15.. You're a saint.." I sighed in relief, thankful that my days of waking up late were still well behind me. "Hey, you're not angry. You haven't had any coffee, and you're bright eyed, bushy tailed… Who are you and what have you done with my best friend?" Rylie looked at me suspiciously before smiling. "I think Pandora's having an effect on you." "It's our first time we'll be linking to our avatars, controlling them, living through them? ON Pandora for the first time? I'm too psyched to sleep in honestly."

She, "Mhm.." In response, unconvinced but letting it go. I got dressed, brushed my teeth, had my coffee, and we were both out the door by 7:45. We made it to the link room in 5 minutes, Jake and Norm were already there. "So, here's the rundown. Your avatars are in a separate room that's safe for them to breathe in. Meaning the air from outside is ventilated inside. Once you link in, we'll check you real quick to make sure everything's good to go and then you can get dressed and make your way outside. We've got a basketball court, obstacle courses', and at the end of the day we put the avatars in the sleeping quarters out behind the gardens." Max informed.

Jake seemed to have understood, and before I could greet him Grace came in. "Okay cupcakes, how many link hours have been logged?" She looked at Rylie, "530 hours." Norm, "520." She looked at me, "580." she nodded approvingly, and then Jake, well.. "An hour." I sighed as Grace seemingly gave up. "Tell me you're joking. He's joking right?" I shrugged, "We did as much training as we could that last week, which was a lot but the link chambers were pretty full during that time, we could barely get that hour." She sighed and took a drag from a cigarette and motioned us to our links.

"Céleste you'll be getting that middle one. Rylie, the one on the end. Norm that one over there." She led Jake to his. I hopped into my chamber, pulling on the biometrics and settling into the familiar fluid gel comfortably. I found it felt like a hug. I heard Jake say, "Don't." I suspected she had tried to help him in. "So you just figured you'd go to the most hostile environment known to mankind, with no training of any kind, and see how it went? What was going through your head?" Silence. And then, "Maybe I was just tired of doctors telling me what I couldn't do." I smiled, 'He always was headstrong..' I heard Grace again, as my hand went to pull the top down, "Just relax and let your mind go blank, that shouldn't be hard for you." "Kiss the darkest part of my lily white-" His chamber closed before he could get another word out.

I couldn't help but laugh as the top came down. 'Leave it to Jake to insult the woman who would be our boss for the next six years on only the second day' I thought as the top of the link chamber came down and I quickly cleared my headspace. 'Blank.. Go.. Blank..' I closed my eyes and I felt my consciousness, I felt me, go from my body to the avatar through a tunnel of brilliant colors. It was so different from the robots we would link to for practice back on earth, but familiar in some way.

My eyes blinked open, fluorescent lights blinding me as I took my first breath. Though the air was poisonous to humans, it felt like heaven to me. I'd never smelled air that clean. I sat up slowly, hearing commotion, and seeing my brother. He was getting up, shaking off the scientists around him, and before I could stop them, he took off. Norm was hauling ass trying to catch up with him.

I laughed as someone came over to me, checking me up and whatnot. The scientists were yellin' something about sedating him but I whistled, gaining their attention. "It's the first time he's had the ability to run in a long time. He's just fine." They looked at me for a moment, seemingly entranced. I was confused, until the person checking up on me had tapped me, "Your eyes. They're still blue." I was shocked, their had never been a recorded incident of a Na'vi having blue eyes. The medic released me to the bathroom to change, and I met Rylie halfway. Her eyes were even more expressive clad in the avatar's golden yellow/brown irises. "Heaven, your eyes-!" "I guess my avatar wanted blue eyes too." I said with a shrug, laughing a bit as we went on about our day from then on, enjoying the feeling of moving around in the Na'vi's shoes.

After Rylie and I had finished changing into more practical clothes rather than the avatar size hospital gowns we had been wearing when we first entered our new bodies, the medics directed us towards the gardens where we found Jake and Norm talking with another avatar. A female who was wearing a form-fitting Stanford tank-top and khaki shorts that were held up by a belt. I would have never guessed who this avatar was if it wasn't for her voice. "Hey Heaven, Rylie." The female avatar said. "Grace?" Rylie and I said in unison. "The one and only." She said simply. Her avatar's face shared some features with her human bodies but they really looked incredibly different. Her eyes were a shade that lied somewhere between yellow and lime green, (though that wasn't all that uncommon among the Na'vi. The most common eye colors of the natives was amber or golden yellow, lime green, and amber or golden brown, like Rylie's) but the biggest difference between human Grace and her avatar was the fact that they looked like they were at least a couple decades apart in age.

Rylie was picking up on this too and wasted no time trying to shoot her shot. "Damn girl, you lookin' fine.." My friend stated, causing Grace to chuckle, though I could hear a bit of nervousness in her laughter. I looked at Rylie, she was looking at Grace with something that could only be described as thirst. I lightly slapped her on the back of the head before saying "Rylie, don't be trying to get in bed with our boss on only day two.. That's more of a day three thing." I said. The whole group laughed.

"Though seriously Grace, what skin care are you using on your avatar to make it look so young?" I asked after the laughter had died down. "Girl I don't have a skin care routine, It's all in my genetics, literally." The woman stated, to which the rest of us all looked at her curiously, implying for her to explain further. "When an avatar is 'born', they are automatically about 23 years old. It doesn't matter how old the human driver is, the avatar will still come out at 23." The chief scientist stated. "But haven't you been on Pandora and using that avatar for.. what.. 19 years? By that logic, you.. sorry.. your avatar should be in its early 40's. And you by no means look that old." I said. "Well that is very kind of you Heaven, and yes, I would be if it weren't for the fact that avatar's only age when their in growth jars or drivers are linked to them." Everyone looked at her with different levels of confusion and/or curiosity before she continued. "When an Avatar isn't linked with a driver its entire body and most of its brain shut down. The only part of it's mind that still works is the part that controls unconscious motion like breathing or your heartbeat and digestion, other than that everything else in your body just flips off like a switch. Even the part of your brain that controls ageing. So if I tally up all of the accumulated time I've spent in this body and calculate it than my Avatar has only aged about..." She paused as she did some calculations in her head and tapped her fingers a few times to help the process. "..7 years since it was created. Man that means I'm still only 30 in this body and 50 in my human body. Now that thought will make you appreciate life a little more." She finished.

"I think we've spent more than enough time talking about how old I am. We can talk about biology more later. Come on, let me give you the tour of the grounds." Grace said before showing us around. They really did have everything set up for us to train with. Obstacle courses that would have given the people from American Ninja Warrior a run for their money, climbing walls, basketball and soccer. Basically, if you could think of a way of working out, they had it.

Soon it became dark, and we all were laying down in the avatar sleeping quarters, a wooden cabin like structure with mosquito nets to the outside. Grace was herding scientists out, trying to get all of us out in time for dinner. "Come on kiddies, lights out. Come on Louise, chop-chop." I was sitting down in the bed next to Jake and Rylie, watching Jake play with his queue. "Don't play with that, you'll go blind." Grace said to my brother as she passed by. "That's kinda freaky.." He said to himself, looking at me for an explanation. "Think of that as an external part of your avatars nervous system. Like a living USB for the planet. The Na'vi use it to keep themselves connected to their surroundings."

I could tell Jake wasn't sure of what I meant. I chuckled softly, thumping him lightly on his forehead. "Moron." He smiled at me, our mom's favorite insult to dad was my favorite to use on him and Thomas. We both laid down, I wrapped my braid around me, my tail around my leg, and I just laid there for a moment, listening to the sounds of the wilderness just beyond the fence. And I slipped away, I never saw the tunnel of light, I just "woke up" in the chamber. I blinked a couple times, making sure I could feel everything, and then the chamber opened up. It was Dr. Augustine, "You and your brother's brain had nice activity, yours especially. Nice light show." I smiled tiredly as the biometrics came up.

"Jake's more than he lets on. He might be a skxawng, but he's a good guy, we've just had a rough decade.." I watched as Max pulled Jake's chamber open and I could practically feel his happiness fading. He was so vibrant and lively in the avatar. Here he was.. "Yeah, I'm good, thank you." Max had offered help but Jake's refusal for it made me feel for him. I hope somehow this turns out alright for him. Goddess knows he needs a turnaround. We both do.

A/N: that stuff I said about how Avatars ageing is something that I made up completely on my own to help explain why Grace's Avatar looks so young in the movie. Also, I plan to give Grace a "friend" near the end of the story and I hope that imagining Grace as a 30 year old Na'vi rather than as the strong mother figure we all know her as will help me write that relationship.

Also, I might not get to posting the next chapter by next weekend since I'm going on vacation. I hope to see a lot of reviews from any and all people who read this, telling me how I'm doing and what I can improve on in the story or suggestions about how you want this story to go. It would mean the world to me if you would give me your personal feedback.

Thank you.
