It was the next day when Paula arrived at work and was given her patients by Terri. Most of the patients Luke was the doctor for which made Paula relived as they worked well as a team and she got on with him more then she did with most people in this place. Paula walked into room one and when she saw who her patient was she walked over and hugged her "Millie hi" Millie smiled at Paula "Hey, I knew you worked here but I didn't know I would be lucky enough to get you as a nurse." Paula sits on bed and can see her friend isn't her usual self "So what happened?" Paula was concerned to say the least. Millie saw her friend concern and knew she would have to tell her after all Paula was her nurse so would find out soon anyway "I have a tumor in my brain." To say Paula was shocked would be an understatement she didn't even say anything she just gave her friend a hug not wanting to let go. However it wasn't long after when the pair were hugging and Paula heard a voice "Millie, My name is Doctor Forlano" Paula moved away from her friend to stand beside Luke while Millie smiled at the doctor. As Luke was about to speak he saw Paula starting to walk through the door then leave. He knew things didn't affect her at work much so wanted to see what was up but he needed to focus on his patient first.
Luke looked at Millie "So I take it you know what's going to happen today?" Millie nodded at her doctor as she tried to figure out whether she could trust him enough to mention her and Paula history as she was worried about her friend. She decides to not mention their history however does ask Luke a question "Paula is she ok?" Luke looks at his patient surprised with her concern for the nurse "I don't know but I'm sure she is fine now if you can excuse me?" Millie nods knowing how busy it can get here and she gives him one last smile before Luke leaves her room.
Meanwhile Paula is sitting in the tea room with tears in eyes usually patients didn't get to her but Millie was her friend and she had known her since they were five so it was a shock to see her in the hospital. Paula was spaced out and in her own world that she hadn't even realized the door had opened and that someone had walked in the room until she heard their voice "Paula are you ok?" Paula quickly wipes her eyes before turning around "Yeah Luke I'm fine, thanks those." Luke knew Paula had been crying and walked towards her wrapping his arms around her and she put her around him accepting the hug because the truth was with everything she had found out she needed the hug "I'm fine I should get back to my patients." Paula pulled out of the hug and left the room and as Luke watched her he knew something else was going on and he was more worried about her then ever before.
