Alright, Chapter 002 so here we go. I DO NOT OWN Deltarune or RWBY and never will so with that, on with the show.
This whole thing so far was not something to be taken lightly as the trio slowly made their way after the giant and somehow sentient stuffed cat, unsure on what to even think about the whole thing. Prophecies, heroes, new worlds…? To them it all seemed like some kind of fairy tale out of a book or something. However merely looking up at the sky told them otherwise as the night stars shine was illuminated across it, giving them a sense of comfort, despite what else was above them. It was a moon, a fully intact moon to be precise and instead of being fractured like back home, was enough to tell them something was amiss.
"I'm just saying, this whole thing seemed less like we're actually in another world and we might just be sleeping" Jaune said as Nora shrugged. Uncaringly she rested her hands behind her head and took in the scenery, it actually seemed rather dreary and kind of lonely, it reminded her about that day when the Grimm attacked her and Ren's home. And she wasn't the only one who thought that.
"Even if you were dreaming this, Jaune… I hardly doubt that all three of us would be here and have the same dream. As much as I hate to say it we might actually be in a new world… somehow" he muttered a bit irked, not at his friend but at the fact the area seemed so barren, with even the settlement that they saw the cat walk into so very devoid of much life, flowers were a darkened color as the grass even seemed to have an almost grayish hue to it. Even the sand under them looked more like light-black gravel.
"Yeah; but still, an entire other world… in our bathroom…?" Jaune asked, nearly shouting, clearly still in some kind of denial. "How are you two not freaking out about this?" Jaune had to ask as Ren and Nora looked at him.
"Because nothing comes from panicking when we're in an unknown place like this, from what I can get, that cat seems to know a little about this world, and it pays to know just where we are instead of going around blindly" Ren said while on the inside he was trying to remain calm as well, his semblance keeping him calm to keep his mind clear until they knew where they were.
"I mean… we did fall so…" Nora started as she shrugged. "Though I am with Jaune-Jaune on this one, this is bizarre, like really bizarre, and strange, and unlikely and completely nerve-wrecking" she went on as Jaune nodded as Ren sighed.
"I know… but for now we should stick together and learn as much as we can" Ren said as Nora and Jaune both nodded, Ren having the most experience similarly with Nora as they traveled outside the kingdoms before, plus right now, Ren did seem like the best person when it came to this whole thing. "Then hopefully when we find out more about this dark world and how we got here we can focus on getting home" he said as Jaune sighed.
"Yeah, you're right I suppose… I just don't know what to… I mean, do you think anyone would even be able to find us?" Jaune said as Nora looked at him. "I mean, we're in another world… even if it is connected to our bathroom… oh, crap!" Jaune realized. "Pyrrha! Do you think she could fall too?" Jaune asked as Ren and Nora realized what he meant.
"Good point, I mean if we fell then someone else might, which might send others here" Nora said as Ren frowned. But before he could say anything, he was interrupted by someone else.
"True, if the world hadn't already shifted" the stuffed cat said next to the trio who turned and were honestly shocked at the sudden appearance of the man-err, cat in question.
"W-what do you mean shifted, and what exactly are you?" Ren asked as Seam smiled crookedly.
"I am a shopkeeper, or I suppose you mean that I am a Darkner. But for what I meant by shift is simple, the Dark World has a habit of shifting at times, mostly when there are more than one Dark Fountains at a time. Whatever way you came in here is moved to another location, and thus changed the entire kingdom as a whole… though I suppose it wouldn't be the strangest thing I've seen happen since coming to this world…" he said curiously as the three were confused.
"Dark Fountain, what's that?" he asked as Seam merely turned and pointed to the north. Seeing his clay, they barely managed to see something being shot into the sky. Jaune gawked; Nora stared in disbelief as Ren visibly looked disturbed. It was only when they saw Seam point towards the east that they saw a second jet of darkness being shot up.
"Those are known as Dark Fountains, they frequently give life to this world… however when multiple ones open up, it can lead to some rather catastrophic results" he said, unbothered by it at all. "Though I suppose that is life, whether or not you three can help us is up to the old man, not me" he said as they followed him into the settlement of oak wood and cobble. As soon as they entered however they noticed several buildings scattered around t the area with a small body of water by the middle of the area. "Take the middle road to that end building there, I'm sure he would explain it to you much more than I will" Seam said as he headed back out. "Now if you excuse me… I have to do some things outside of town, I do hope you will swing by when you get done with your meeting, or not."
As Seam left town, the three grew even more concerned before looking at the farthest building. Eventually they began to make their way towards it. "Man, we really need some answers" Nora muttered as Ren nodded.
"And I'm sure we'll get some" he said trying to reassure his friend.
"Yeah, let's see just what this old man has to actually say, though I still want to know what is going on at home" Jaune said as Nora sighed.
"Yeesh, you know we could just try to call her then, I mean… it's not… like…" she started before trailing off as silence overtook them before realization kicked in. they could call them, they could still make calls on their scrolls, right?! Immediately pulling out the devices, they expected it to show what they needed to make a call, what they saw however was far from what they expected. On it was a strange symbol they never saw before, and then there were what seemed like a menu of sorts.
There were four icons appeared, from left to right, one saying Item, Equip, Power, and finally one called Call. Looking at the last option, they looked up confused as Jaune sighed. "Alright, I guess I'll call someone?" he asked more than anything. As he got nods, he pushed the button as the Scroll began to ring, only to let out what could only be described as an ear-annoying garbage noise.
Staring at the scroll silently before turning it off, they all gave one another a look of confusion before Jaune put his scroll away, ending the call and sighing. "Well there went that idea…" he sighed as Ren and Nora frowned. "What about you guys?" Jaune asked as Ren and Nora each looked more at their own scrolls.
While Ren checked Item, he was curious seeing three words, Use, Toss and Key the screen below him having nothing. Meanwhile, Nora checked Equip to see what that lead to. To her amazement it seemed like it had more than the other two had found. On it was a small pixilated image of their heads, with what looked like hearts over them, though while hers was illuminated with a vivid pink, Jaune's and Ren's were not. To make things more interesting it showed stats under them, more accurately it came in five different forms. HP, ATK, DEF, SPD and STM all seemed to flash while a number was associated next to each one.
Next to that menu however was the Weapons list, with her only weapon and apparently armor being called the Stone Hammer and Pink Dress? Looking at it curiously, she held her hammer and noticed it was indeed made of stone while she did have a pink skirt-like dress on. Seeing the boys notice something similar, Jaune blinked for a moment before muttering something.
"It's just like a video game?" he asked confused as they looked at him strangely. "The stats and the inventories and the menus" he explained as Ren nodded.
"It… certainly seems that way-" he said before Nora gasped as she let out a cheer.
"Oh, so if this is a game do you think we can fight baddies and level up, I want to smash some stuff" she said as Ren tried to calm her down. Jaune however checked out the Power menu and looked it over, it showed his own stats but also something called "Skills" on it was a list of strange abilities. The only one illuminated was ACT, which had a number next to it.
0% AURA: ACT
It also had a level for him as well as a title. 'Level one, swordsman?' he asked himself as he decided to get the other's attentions. "Hey guys, you think we should compare notes?" he asked as he showed them his current stats? As they looked at him, they got a good look at his current skills.
For Jaune it was the following
Name: Jaune
Level: 1
Title: Swordsman
HP: 25
AURA: 15/35
ATK: 10/15
DEF: 10/15
SPD: 10
STM: 10/2
Name: Nora
Level: 1
Title: Smasher
HP: 20
AURA: 10/35
ATK: 15/20
DEF: 15/20
SPD: 10
STM: 10/2
Name: Ren
Level: 1
Title: Peacekeeper
HP: 20
AURA: 10/35
ATK: 10/15
DEF: 10/15
SPD: 15
STM: 15/ 3
"Wait, why does Jaune-Jaune have more HP and AURA than we do, Ren?" Nora asked as Ren looked at it with interest, in fact. "Also, why do you have more of that SPD and STM stuff than me and Jaune?" she asked as Ren quirked an eyebrow.
"Nora, you have the same boosts me and Jaune have to your ATK and DEF" he pointed out as Nora double checked her stats and saw what he meant with a smile. "Jaune, you play more games than we typically do, you know anything about it?" he asked as Jaune frowned as he looked at it.
"I mean, some of these are easy to pick out. HP might be out life points, our AURA is probably our aura, ATK and DEF are for Attack and Defense… SPD might be speed and STM for… I think I might be for Stamina?" he asked as Ren nodded. That would make sense. Jaune had much more aura than he and Nora did and could take a hit better than they could with it. More so he was more agile than the two others while Nora was the most physically fit in comparison to them.
'That means that in a fight we all have our own skills… which remind me' the black-haired teenager thought as they all noticed him contemplate on something. "Guys, what does it say under your abilities, under Power?" he asked as Jaune and Nora frowned.
"Mine just says ACT with TP at zero" he said as Nora frowned.
"Mine says ACT too, though I also have my semblance in it too" she said, ignoring Jaune's shout of disbelief. "I mean I guess that makes some sense, I mean we all have a semblance… I mean, most of us do… you know what I mean" she said trying to cheer up her friend who was sulking in despair. Ren nodded, having his semblance under his own Skills options. As they closed up their scrolls, Jaune still feeling saddened by the fact he was still the one holding them back, Ren sighed.
"Well, let's focus on meeting that old man for right now" he said as they wasted enough time as Jaune nodded. Nora was excited to go as well as she ran towards the building with Ren following her, Jaune lagging behind slightly before finally catching up.
"Ooh, do you think he'll be a wizard?" Nora asked as Ren knocked on the door, only for it to open by itself. A voice welcoming them in.
"Ah, visitors, come in…" a male's voice said warmly as they all looked at one another before making their way in. once inside they were greeted with an old man with a white beard under a gray hooded cloak. "So, the heroes have indeed arrived" he said curiously as the three of them each asked a question.
"What do you mean heroes?" Jaune asked.
"What exactly is this place?" Ren questioned
"So are you some kind of super powerful wizard?" Nora asked as she was hoping he was. If so then so far this would be the best game/ strange group dream she ever had…
…And the only one she ever had…
The man merely laughed at the girl's question. "I'm sorry miss, I am not a wizard by any means, I am… was… currently a fool. I am an elderly old man, someone who has merely stayed here my entire life. I however had seen visions, and heard of a prophecy, one that speaks of the Dark Fountains and the three Heroes of Light that are destined to seal them" he said as they seemed taken back. Seal the Dark Fountains, the same ones that Seam told them about?
"I suppose you must be confused though… I'll explain to you, this world in connection to yours, the prophecy and this kingdom's condition. It is a fairly simple one… though I suppose simple is a term best described by the individual… Now then. As I'm sure you are aware of… this isn't your world."
"I mean, yeah… we fell in our bathroom and landed outside the… wherever this is. And we don't have talking stuffed cats either… I mean the closest thing we have is a cat Faunus like Blake but that's normal" she said as the elder hummed.
"Interesting… very well, long ago… there existed two powerful beings, one of hopes and light and one of dreams and darkness. The first one was capable of granting the world the ability of law and hope, light and life, while the second one was capable of granting them imagination and dreams, ambition and darkness. As their powers combined, life was created in the form of two worlds. The Light World and the Dark World... The Light World is the realm of the Being of Light, who rules over that of Reality; however the Dark World is the realm of the Being of Darkness, who rules over Fantasy."
"So what you mean is this world isn't real?" Jaune asked as the Elder hummed at that.
"Not quite, to your world we are beings that do not exist in the way we see ourselves, yet we are and we live our worlds separate from one another through the gap but are bridged through attributes of the other" the elder said, losing all of them. "Perhaps I should simplify it more. Think of like this, the Darkner race are like objects of the light given life in the dark while Lightners are objects in the light given life in the light" he said as the trio nodded, somewhat understanding it.
"So… basically you guys were given life in the dark while we are given life in the light? Reminds me of the Grimm in a way" Jaune said as he recalled a lecture Professor Port mentioned and he partially slept through until Pyrrha and Ren quizzed him and Nora. Ren was thinking the same thing in that regard as the elder nodded.
"Grimm… I see, then that would explain it then, those monsters of the light's shadows" the elder contemplated. "Forgive me for asking but these Grimm, are they monsters of nightmare, forming that of evil animals with black fur and white masks?" the elder asked as they looked alarm. "I see, that expression says all I need to know" he said as Ren spoke up.
"What do you mean?" he asked as Jaune and Nora were quiet. The Elder said nothing but sighed.
"Yes… I do owe you three an explanation. Let me start from the beginning… it is a story about a prophecy… and a choice" the elder said as the three of them listened to the old man.
Long ago, this kingdom was born from the fountain before you at the castle, it was a kingdom ruled by two families, two brother kings, one of white light and black night. As they ruled, the kingdom was protected by the fountain and all was in harmony with the world…
However, that would not last. The brother kings were approached by a figure, wrapped in cloaks of shadows, which had been tasked by his master to seek the crown. He asked for an audience with the kings but the older and wiser brother sensed the stranger's wicked desires, sending him away without a word.
The younger brother however, was curious, and listened to the stranger, and once their talk was over, the two kings met, the stranger disappearing and the younger brother changed. His viewpoint of life became twisted and grim, dark, darker yet darker by the second. Eventually the darkness overshadowed him, turning the once kind and curious King of Night into a tyrant. Somehow, after meeting with the stranger, the now self-proclaimed King of Darkness him the sole ruler of the World of Darkness and fought his brother for the kingdom.
After a swift but heavy war against brothers, the kingdom was left in tatters, only a handful of people survived, and the one who stood victorious was the King of Darkness. As the King of Light disappeared, his brother gathered the last of the surviving members of his army, a knight of courageous heart, a bishop of great wisdom, a guard of incredible power and a woman, his queen of unyielding kindness. Together, the four of them were turned into monsters from their king's magic with the order to bring more fountains into existence.
There, the four monsters fled to the far corners of the kingdom, creating four more fountains, a feat thought impossible without the determination of the Lightners… until now that is… And now, the king waits, for the worlds to merge and for the kingdom's destruction, to bring about the end of all…
However, before the Queen of Light's life was cut short, she made a prophecy, that when the shadows of light invade the world and the darkness rises from the earth to cover the skies, three heroes would emerge to save us all. The three heroes; a knight of great potential and strong determination, a maiden of hope and strength and a noble soul of tranquility and knowledge. Together, they would seal the fountains and defeat the King of Darkness, returning balance to the worlds… or so, it is to be believed…
The Elder sighed, closing his eyes as he sat in a chair. "And that is the prophecy spoken to us by the late Queen of Light… though she was not truly one of light herself, I believe that she may have had the potential or knew something more than she let on… but now there is no one left aside from the current king and his four monsters who guard the four fountains left… how he managed to do such a thing, I believe it was that strange who opened them, a Lightner with ill-intent" the elder contemplated.
"Alright, so wait… let's see if we get this. This kingdom of darkness was ruled by two kings, one of night and light?" Jaune asked confused. "And after meeting a stranger that might be from our world, the King of Night was corrupted and took over the kingdom as the King of Shadows" Jaune said as the elder nodded.
"Indeed… and now the king and his forces have managed to make four more fountains, upsetting the balance and harmony between worlds, should this be left unchecked then not only will our world suffer, so will the World of Light" he said as the trio said nothing. "However… the queen had believed three more Lightners would come save us, and I believe that you three might be that salvation she mentioned. I know… I have no right in asking you this… but the people of this kingdom are suffering. Monsters of the Light's shadows… those Grimm as you call them, are beginning to form by the four new fountains and spreading into the kingdom, the people are becoming corrupted, losing their hearts, and the king is ever closer to bringing about the end of this world…" the Elder said as the three looked at him worried and sympathetically. To their surprise however, the elder fell to his knees and begged to them.
"…Please… Heroes of Light… I ask of thee… will you slay the King of Shadows, save my people and close the Five Fountains of Darkness!" he cried as tears ran down his face, his body shaking as his hands clenched into fists. "We are at the end of our ropes, if this continues much longer, then all of us, the civilians, the people… all of them will be force to suffer a fate worse than even death itself!" the elder screamed.
The three of them said nothing as the elder finally calmed down. "Please… save this kingdom, these people…" he whispered as Jaune looked at Nora and Ren, both of them who were just as shaken as he was about it. Eventually, Jaune spoke up.
"…Alright, we'll help you and the kingdom" Jaune said as the elder looked up at the man, silver eyes, bloodshot with tears looking into a kind blue of the blond-haired knight's. Ren spoke up next, with a small smile on his face.
"As students of Beacon and future huntsmen, it is our job to help others and eliminate Grimm" he said with a bit of determination in his eyes. He had no idea how Grimm of all things were getting in but he was ready to fight them and help save the kingdom.
"Hey, if it gets us home and helps you guys then I'm all in. plus I want to see how well I do against the Grimm in this world, oh, Ren… do you think we can ride a Grimm around the kingdom?!" Nora asked excited at the thought as Jaune sighed, not sure how long he would last if he rode an Ursa like the hammer-wielding girl beside him did during initiation. Ren however calmed her down as Jaune held out a hand.
"I don't know how we got here, but… if what you're saying is true, then we'll help you. You have our word and we Arcs never break a promise" he said as the elder was helped back up, tears in his eyes.
"Thank-you… truly…" the elder said before realizing something. "Oh, but before you leave, I must give you all a-" he began before a howl echoed throughout the town from right outside. Jaune froze, Ren narrowed his eyes and Nora grabbed her hammer, the elder saying nothing but eying the door in fear.
"What was that?" Jaune asked nervously as Nora hummed before running out, Ren after her as Jaune cursed, following them.
"Wait, Heroes! I must tell you something crucial about our world!" the Elder shouted as he tried to follow them. Meanwhile, Jaune caught up to Nora and Ren before stopping in disbelief. Before them, glaring and snarling at them was something they all knew very well. Black fur and white masks, red markings and orange lifeless eyes. Jaune gulped and reached for his sword while Ren grabbed his guns and Nora her hammer. They might not have been the same weapons they were used to but for now, they would act as such…
"That's a…" Jaune started as Ren nodded.
"A Beowolf" Ren commented as he knew things were about to be bad. Beowolves never traveled alone, that means where there was one, there was more.
"Guess he was right about there being Grimm here, you ready? Jaune, Ren?" Nora asked as she ran at it with hammer raised as Ren and Jaune ran after her. As the Beowolf lunged however, time slowed down as the battlefield faded, the Grimm now standing calmly on one side with Jaune, Nora and Ren, from left to right, standing side-by-side on the other end of a sudden empty field.
*The first battle has begun*
"What the, what happened…?" Jaune asked before he felt something wrong, before he knew it he felt like he was flung backwards and now saw something horrific. He saw himself, Ren and Nora standing there. Jaune was confused before he looked down; a clear, ghost-like body filled his vision, making him realize something. "That's my… and this is my… oh gods I'm already dead?!" Jaune shouted in fear as he was interrupted by Ren.
"Jaune, what's going on?!" the other young man shouted confused as Nora looked herself over with a little fear yet interest in her new ghost-like body. Above each of their heads however were hearts, a yellow one for Jaune, a pink one for Nora and a greenish lime one for Ren.
"I-I don't know… I can't tell you what-are there three of them?!" Jaune shouted in horror as Ren and Nora noticed two more Beowolves standing by the initial one as Ren and Nora stared dumbly. "Oh god… we're so dead…" Jaune muttered fearfully as Ren frowned.
"Jaune, calm down… I'm sure there has to be a reason for this" Ren said as Nora nodded.
"Yeah, this is a game world; right… maybe this is like a video game battle!" she offered as Jaune frowned. It did seem like a video game battle, but what were they supposed to do, usually there was some kind of controller or something. Or a menu, they were outside of their bodies and were feeling a little worried.
'If this is a game, then we need a controller… all we have are our weapons and… maybe…' Jaune thought before he reached for his scroll, a task that seemed strange considering the fact he was a spirit and his scroll shouldn't be-
"What the… guys, check your scrolls!" Jaune shouted as he pulled his out, but unlike the normal device, it was only a small disc of some kind that had a holographic menu of sorts coming out of it. Pulling out their own scrolls, Nora and Ren looked at them confused; five different options presented itself to them, as well as what looked like their HP in the form of a fraction, 20/20 for each one with a line under the numbers with the letters AURA under it. All bars were filled up under their HP stat but next to that on the left was a larger bar known as TP. Currently sitting at a 0%.
"Huh, well I know what I'm going to do~" Nora said as she chose the FIGHT option but instead of progressing to the next menu or making a command, a notice popped up. "What the- waiting for teammate!" she called out in disappointment as she turned to Ren who had the same thing occur to him.
Jaune however explored more; the five options were aligned up easily enough. FIGHT, ACT, ITEM, SPARE and DEFEND were all shown as Jaune pushed the middle menu, getting a black screen he was forced to exit out of. Curiously, he pressed the SPARE button, getting a message of his own.
"These enemies cannot be spared?" Jaune asked curiously as Nora grew impatient.
"Jaune… hurry up and attack them already!" she said eagerly as Jaune looked at the ACT menu next. There were two choices for that one. Evaluate and Distract with both costing zero AURA. Curiously, he pushed the Evaluate button and soon a new screen popped up. It was that of the Beowolves and tapping one of them, their screens shown their overall stats.
Beowolf:
HP: 10/ 20
ATK: 20/20
DEF: 10/15
NOTES: Work together in groups but distracted easily and already injured?
With that done it was Nora's turn, who immediately just pressed attack as did Ren as he gave it some thought, recalling their numbers of their own stats. 'Alright, so if Nora's ATK stat is twenty in comparison to its ten DEF that means…' he thought as the Beowolf took damage, crying in pain as it took the ten hit points of damage, killing it instantly.
Meanwhile, the one Ren's body attacked managed to do only five points of damage to his target as there were two left. Jaune said nothing as he smiled. "Alright, I think I know how this works, Ren, Nora… you guys know what to do?" Jaune asked as he played enough games to figure out what happened like Ren had. Nora smiled before their bodies disappeared and they were in the arena now, however they were only hearts. Looking outside the arena, the Beowolves stood and swung their claws, the claw marks staying before growing bigger and heading towards them.
"Oh, shit!" Jaune as the yellow heart shouted as Ren and Nora realized what was happening. "…Get in the gaps, now!" the yellow heart screamed as it and the pink heart barely made it while the green heart managed to get there faster than the other two. Soon a second wave came at them, causing them to move to the gaps between the attacks again, a static sound as Jaune and Nora barely evaded it attack a second time. As the second wave ended, the hearts and the Beowolves swapped places in and out of the arena on their original sides, Jaune looking at his body while Ren and Nora frowned.
*The first feelings of battle are felt*
"Jaune, Nora, are you two alright?" Ren asked as Nora nodded.
"Yeah, we're alright… let's just end this…" Jaune said as a soul, now freed from his yellow heart that hung above his head. This time, all of them chose to attack; pushing the FIGHT button and having their bodies finish the fight. Jaune managing to deal five points of damage to the injured Grimm, causing it to vanish in a howl. Nora grinned, once again finishing her opponent effortlessly and ending the battle. With that, they saw something above them in the middle of the arena they seemed to fight in.
You Won
You Gained 15 EXP plus 300 D$
Number of Grimm in Region: 24/25
And with that they found themselves back in their bodies, confused as the scenery around them with the Beowolf gone, defeated in battle. Looking around, they were interrupted by the elder calling them.
"That was amazing… you three managed to defeat those with ease… all attacks from the Darkeners seem to have no effect on them. Truly you three are indeed the Heroes of Light the queen has predicted" he said as he joined the three outside. They were also met with Seam, who approached them after watching the whole thing.
"It wasn't that bad… but I feel like those were just the easier ones we faced. There are stronger ones alright… mostly guarding the fountains. But still, I have to admit you do seem kind of hero-like I suppose" the normally cynical stuffed cat said. Though then again he did weaken them a little before fleeing, wanting to see if the three of them were actually up for the job. As Jaune blushed, Nora grinned and grabbed Ren in a side hug, who smiled at the praise.
"More so, I could tell, was that truly your first battle in the World of Darkness… a little rough around the edges but handled remarkably well for those who never fought in our world before" the elder said as Jaune coughed in his hand.
"Well… I wouldn't say that… I'm sure we could still learn a thing or two" he said mostly as Ren agreed, not fully used to fighting like that. The Elder laughed with a bit of hope forming.
"I see… well I suppose I could give you the run down then, I do know how to fight so showing you some tricks and tips should be rather easy for me" he said as Nora grinned, eager to break so many legs in this world. As the old man returned to his dwelling, Jaune and the others followed him. Seam just gave a small laugh at it all. Those kids did rather well, but that was either skill or luck. If it was skill then they would need to have more of it if what they had to face was anything like the old man said it was. If it was only luck then he hoped their luck held out long enough not to get killed.
So far it seemed like today was quite interesting, he was going to see how this played out, if only to satisfy his curiosity…
Omake:
Blake Belladonna was many things, she was a proud student of Beacon Academy and a former and not-so-proud-to-admit terrorist of the White Fang. She still had some views of the White Fang her father created and thought that they, for the most part, were being turned towards more extreme methods. Sienna Khan, Roman Torchwick, Adam… her former friend, and partner…
But that wasn't what she was focused on today, nor was it her usual literature tastes. No, she eyed the dreaded monster, that corgi that belonged to the R and Y of her team with a glare as it slept peacefully next to a bed made for it without a care in the world. Safe to say that Blake was not a fan of the dog, or any dog or canine for that matter and no it had nothing to do with her being a cat faunus. But looking at a toy in particular of the dog's made her annoyed. A little purple stuffed cat with a missing button eye…
Memories of her childhood came to mind, a young black-haired child with cat ears holding a similar looking toy in her arms. To find out Ruby had a similar toy was a little interesting until she learned that she gave it to the mutt when she outgrew it. maybe she was being childish but why would she let a perfectly good stuffed animal like Seam go to waste? She could've donated it but instead she and Yang gave it to the dog?
Well… she would fix that, spare the toy and maybe fix it up before giving it away, it's not like the Cogri had other toys to play with. But still… she didn't want the others to know. Ruby would be confused, Yang would tease her and Weiss would call her foolish. A soft hiss escaped her lips as she thought back to Weiss's betrayal and how she allowed the dog to stay. Out of all things, Weiss Stick-To-The-Rules Schnee… was allowing them to keep a pet?!
If it wasn't for the fact that it was actually useful at Mount Glenn she would've been more than happy to have it mailed delivered back to Patch as soon as she could. So long as she could get away with it. No, she had to focus, this was her shot. The others were gone. Yang was training and Ruby was looking at weapons and parts to fix or modify her weapon with Weiss tagging along to buy dust for her own weapon.
This was her moment to strike…
Swiftly leaping down from her bed, she snuck towards the sleeping dog and snatched the cat toy before making her way out of the room with a smile on her face. 'Alright now that I have it, I have to hide this until I can fix it up… I can't keep it in my room, they would find it… maybe in someone else's room?' she thought as she eyed Team JNPR's door.
Seeing it was unlocked, she scanned the area, it was empty. That was good. Making her way in, she managed to open their closet door and hid the stuffed animal in there for now. she'd come back for it afterwards but for now she'd have to keep quiet about the whole thing.
"Blake?" a voice called as she turned around and slammed the door with a scared look on her face, the read-haired champion of Mistral seemed confused why the fellow huntress-to-be was in her teams room. "Why are you-"
"Nothing, it's nothing. Don't tell the others, I need to keep something a secret for a while. I'll see you around" she said unusually hesitantly as she made her way passed the green-eyed girl with a blush as Pyrrha was left confused. Opening the closet door, she noticed the purple stuffed cat and frowned, wondering why she left it in their dorm. She would ask her about that later, for now she wanted to get some sleep.
And there we go with the second chapter. I added a little bit to the fighting mechanics such as Speed and Stamina while having the TP system with a secondary Aura system built in, which will be explained more in the next chapter, Speed is essentially how fast the hearts will be able to move during enemy attacks while Stamina is essentially how much AURA or TP the group gets during the Bullet Time evasions/ the White Heart.
Next is the Grimm, what kind of RWBY story would this be without them, especially when they are going into a World of Darkness, which is going into more lore behind it. I'm going to be moving away from the established RWBY lore a little to incorporate the Dark World being in it. But to make a long story short, the God of Light created Remnant while the God of Darkness created the Dark World. The best way to describe the relationships of the whole Grimm, Darkner and Lightner thing would be with Punnet Squares. Faunus and Humans would be considered Light/Light while Grimm would be considered Light/ Dark. On the other hand, Darkners would be considered Dark/Light while Dark/Dark… I'll leave it up to you do imagine.
And now we have the plot, similar to the first chapter, three heroes seal up five fountains around the kingdom while defeating a mad king at the center being controlled by a mysterious stranger, potentially another Lightner. Add a little Grimm to fight and a few Darkners to save and Spare and we have us our world.
As for the fighting itself, I wasn't sure how to really incorporate an RPG styled fight like in Deltarune at first but I figured it would be more akin to the souls playing the game since the heart is the icon that chooses the actions, as well as them having to dodge attacks in the form of hearts. So I hope you found the first fight entertaining.
