Be Mine..?

It was the pain, that was t. It was how only moments ago she had felt the world in her head. The history and everything that had ever been seen was locked in her mind. The sun and the moon, the day and the night, but they all held such pain she couldn't stand it.

The Doctor, her Doctor had taken away all the pain though…

She had seen everything…all that is and all that was…all that ever could be. She had given life! Jack, who had said she was worth fighting for…who had died for her, would live now because of her, and…The Doctor…

What had happened?

She was the Bad Wolf…she was going to burn!

…She had just wanted her Doctor safe…that was all…

Have a fantastic life? Impossible! She couldn't! Not without him!

The burning of lips, he had drained her, taking it all into his already weakened body, she had felt his weakness as he had held her close, cradling her. He had absorbed the pain and death, flooding her mind selflessly from her.

So much pain…she wasn't aware of what was happening. She knew he was dying, and she knew it was because of her. The golden light which had flooded her own mind was now tearing him at the seams, ripping him apart1 It was breaking through him in blinding flashes, it was destroying him!

She couldn't breath. He was changing, becoming someone, something else! Where was her Doctor!

He was calm though, well…as calm as one could be. He was talking, to her? But she wasn't listening.

"This new hand, it's a fightin' hand!" he cried happily. Who the hell was he? Where was her Doctor?

He was right there though, but he was…different. But not in soul, or feeling.

"Can you change back?"

"Do you want me to?"

"Yeah…"

"Oh…"

"Can you?"

"No…"

He was younger, so much younger, (had he done that for her?) but although his accent as still right, he looked foreign still, just like before. He looked, old. Time worn. Although now he still looked a lot younger than his older, balding self. What was going on?

"Regeneration." He explained gently. "Every cell in my body is dying…"

Thoughts coursed through her mind, still fresh with traces of what her brain had seen and known of just moments before. It was all enough. His body was dying, but his mind was not. The Timelords had a way of cheating, of escaping death. He was taking on a new body, he would still exist! But not as she knew him…

"Can you change back?"

Without really being aware of what was happening, they were travelling again.

Then they were back in England, in her time.

He was helping her to rise and walk, and then they were outside. The TARDIS was the same as it always had been. Rose looked around, it was as id her world was in a mist, it was hard to realise what was happening.

Then he reached for her hand.

She looked at him. The Doctor (no longer hers, not anymore…) was smiling at her. The smile wasn't as cocky as it had been before…but it was still the same. It was still the smile he only had for her.

She took his hand. Not as rough as it had been before. But still the same.

Still her Doctor.
