Hey guys! Here's a new Life is Strange story from me - and it's the first one about characters in a different game to the first one! Recently played through True Colors for the first time - and decided to write this story based on an experience I had with it. Hope you like. :)
Disclaimer: I don't own Life is Strange.
"Are you guys ready to do this?"
"Sure we are!"
"Bring it on!"
The voices which filled the living quarters above the Black Lantern were filled with determination.
Three youngsters were grouped together in the small apartment built on top of Haven Springs' most popular bar. They were preparing to continue their investigation of the mystery they were in the middle of. All were pumped up to bring down the ruthless mining company that had caused a dreadful landslide which had cost the life of a dear loved one of theirs.
"We will do this!" Alex declared, raising her fist in her determination to lead the trio.
"We will bring down Typhon once and for all!" Ryan nodded.
"And we will avenge the death of Gabe!" Steph added.
The mention of her deceased brother caused Alex's fist to open out. She placed her hand on her heart as she thought back to the night she had lost her brother. She was not going to let Typhon get away with taking him from her - on the very day they had finally managed to find their way back into each other's lives.
There would be justice brought for Gabe...
...although there was something else she had to take care of first.
"Okay!" Ryan grinned. "Let's do this!"
"Raring to go!" Steph smiled.
"Great! You guys go on and wait outside!" Alex pointed towards the door that lead out of the apartment. "I'll catch you up!"
"Huh?" Ryan's smile faded upon hearing Alex's baffling words. "Catch us up?"
"Aren't you coming with us, Alex?" Steph asked, equally as confused/
"Of course I am!" Alex smiled. "But there's just something I gotta take care of first!"
"Can't it wait 'til later?" Ryan asked.
"I'm afraid not! This thing will be lingering on my mind if I don't get it done now! I won't be able to concentrate on our mission and avenging Gabe if I don't get it done now!"
"Well, shall we help you with it?" Steph asked, not wanting her friend to face whatever she had to do by herself. "Whatever it is you have to do, Alex, you don't have to do it alone."
"No, Steph!" Alex answered quickly. "Only I can do what needs to be done here. You guys just head out into the town and I'll meet up with you later!"
"Well, okay, Alex..." Ryan said doubtfully, heading with Steph towards the door. "If you're absolutely sure..."
"I am, Ryan, I am! Now you guys go head off! I need to get started on this important business!"
"Sure, Alex. See ya later."
Pulling open the door, Steph and Ryan reluctantly headed out of the apartment. They pulled it shut behind of, leaving Alex to take care of whatever she needed to urgently do - all by herself.
Together, they made their way down the staircase, heading into the bar below. Both were preparing to head outside to wait for Alex so they could continue their investigation into Typhon's activity.
Neither one of them could help feeling concerned about their friend.
"What d'you think Alex has to do which she didn't want us to stick around for?" Ryan wondered as they stepped off the foot of the staircase.
"No idea." Steph shrugged, leading the pair of them to the doors that led out of the Black Lantern. "But she's had a lot on her mind with the death of her brother. We should not pressure her and let her take care of whatever she needs to. It won't get in our way of avenging Gabe's death."
"I'm not so sure about that, Steph..." Ryan muttered, pulling the door open.
"Why d'you say that, Ryan?" Steph asked as she stepped outside.
"Every single time we've prepared to head out to continue our investigation..." As he strode out of the Black Lantern to wait on the doorstep for Alex, Ryan cast a concerned look towards the staircase that led to his new friend's room before pulling the door shut. "...Alex has always had to stay behind to take care of some important business."
"No! Stay away from me!"
Alex's eyes were wide with panic behind her glasses. The panic was clear in the young girl's tone. She was horrified to see who was pursuing her. She had to get away from them before they managed to catch her.
"Leave me alone!" she cried. "You've already done enough damage! Get away from me and let me complete my mission!"
It was no good. Her desperate words were clearly falling on deaf words. The adversary easily managed to catch up to Alex - and shift away with her with one touch.
"Shit!"
The frustrated teenager cursed in all her frustration as her avatar was killed by the ghost that had been chasing her. Her fist pounded down the screen upon seeing it display the inevitable words, 'GAME OVER'. It was maddening to have lost her last life when she had been just a few points away from reaching the top of the scoreboard in Mine Haunt!
"I just needed one more coin and I would have set the highest score!" Alex clenched her fist, although she managed to resist letting out the anger she had always been prone to and prevented herself from punching the arcade machine. "Oh well, I guess I'll have to try again - from the very beginning."
Starting up a new game, Alex watched the screen as her avatar was sent into the mine. She wasted no time in sending it to gather the coins, determined not run into any more of the roaming ghosts. She was addicted to the arcade machines in the Black Lantern - so much so that she always had to play some rounds on them every day before heading out to continue her investigation into her brother's death.
"Once I've beaten this, I'll go downstairs and play Arkanoid!" Alex told herself. "I don't have to worry about Ryan and Steph waiting for me outside while I play these cool games! I've got all the time in the world!"
That's the story - and yep, that's exactly how my expierence with True Colors went! No matter what my mission was or what I was in the middle of, before anything else, I would have to play those those arcade games in The Black Lantern! I was so addicted to them! I would spend a long time on them, trying to do well! Those poor NPCs I had to keep waiting for me while I would gather coins and erase blocks! XD
Also, despite this being about the characters from True Colors, I couldn't resist slipping in a reference to the first game with Alex's last line there! It had to be done! ;)
Thanks for reading! Hope you guys liked it. :)
