Sorry for delay in anyone is reading I would love a review.

Wake Up

The first thing Harry had noticed was that he no longer had a feeling of overwhelming nausea. The elephant that had taken up residence sitting on his chest had also moved. He smiled slightly. Either he was dead or he was already on the road to recovery. He bet on the latter, seeing as neither Jo, who he had come to think of as the Section's Guardian Angel nor Satan himself were sat next to him.

"Hey." He opened his eyes as he felt a warm hand on his.

"Ruth." He took a deep breath, glad that he was able to do so. "You? You ok?"

"Me?" Ruth blinked. She knew he would worry about her. He always did, even when it was completely unnecessary. "I'm not the one who had heart surgery today." She squeezed his hand. "I'm ok. Now." She blinked as he looked her in the eye. "You are doing well. The doctor spoke to me and Zaf."

"Zaf?"

"He came to check on me." She bit her lip. "The doctors say they only needed to put two stents in. That is better than they hoped for. You are going to be ok."

"Widow maker."

"What?"

"That's the type they said I had. I overheard someone say it." He watched as she looked away before touching her chin, making her look at him. "I am not leaving you. Heard that, more determined to get back on my feet. I want to see Gracie grow up, have her own kids. See Nick, Charlie, Lily and Keira settle down. I am going to be around for a few years yet."

"Good." Ruth smiled as he kissed her hand. "You frightened us all."

"Sorry."

"I'll forgive you, this once." Ruth teased as a weight seemed to lift from her chest. He watched her for a moment, unsure how he had got so lucky. He had never thought he deserved to be. In his time he had done some pretty despicable things, mainly for the greater good but in his mind that didn't absolve him. His soul was tainted. How he had ended up with a second chance at being happy he would never know. It wasn't something he was about to question. Ruth smiled slightly as the door to his room opened.

"Harry Pearce."

"Mike?" Ruth turned as the taller former army doctor turned A&E Consultant stepped into the room. Harry raised an eyebrow.

"You do know how serious this was."

"Yes." He nodded. Mike sighed, seeing that for once he wasn't going to get any arguments from his old friend. "I'm going to leave the Service. Retire. See my family grow up." He paused as Mike and Ruth exchanged shocked glances.

"What?" Ruth wasn't sure she had actually heard him. Harry smiled slightly.

"Harry." Mike shook his head. "You are on the sick for at least six months. And that will be on full pay. Make the decision either way when you are back home. I have to say, you won't be clear for field work again but you aren't ready for the knackers yard yet."

"You have such a lovely bedside manner." Ruth rolled her eyes as Harry laughed.

"I should hope not." Harry answered. "Bloody cardiologist is a miracle worker."

"She is." Mike smiled. "Rest, Harry. Ruth, if there's anything I can do."

"Thanks." Ruth smiled as Harry yawned. He was exhausted. A massive heart attack followed by a major cardiac procedure had worn him out. Mike slipped out of the room.

"Call the kids." Harry whispered. "Tell them they still have a grandad and dad. Ruth?"

"Yeah?" She smiled. He squeezed her hand, looking her in the eye. She kissed his cheek. "I know, Harry. I know."

"So, its not them." Erin pulled her coat closer to her as she walked towards the bandstand. She loved the park, and any excuse to see her partner in work hours was welcome. Richard had been in America for most of the pandemic but now he was back in London they had begun to see each other again. He nodded.

"I missed you." She looked away, smiling slightly.

"And we are at work."

"I know."

"So, Shining Dawn? Is this them? Do the Cousins have anything on them?"

Richard sighed. "We have no recent Intel on them. As far as we know the group was destroyed in the early 2000's by your team. Then an offshoot a few years ago. The Professor died. We haven't had anything from them in years." He looked over the lake behind the bandstand as Erin turned to him. She watched him for a moment.

"What about the climate change protestors? The ones gluing themselves to things?"

"Mostly harmless citizens exercising their right to peaceful protest." Richard sighed. "You guys made that legal in this country."

Erin smiled as she shook her head. "Thank God we did. Democracy and all that."

"Yeah." He smirked. Erin sighed.

"Only thing is. You said mostly." She turned, heading back to her car. She had to get back to the Grid, she just hoped Beth and Dimitri had more luck with their dead drop.

Catherine pulled her jacket closer to her as she walked towards the Pods. She knew none of her team expected her or Ruth to be in work for the foreseeable future but she had no idea what to do with herself at home. Due to the pandemic, visiting hours at the hospital were still extremely strict, with only one family member allowed. She knew Ruth would want to be at the hospital as much as she could. She turned as she heard her name called.

"Hi."

"What you doing here?" Will pulled her into a hug.

"Trying to be useful. Do my job."

"But."

"Dad is on the mend." She smiled. "I thought." She shook her head as the younger man nodded. He had lost both parents. She felt sick at the thought she had come close to losing her only surviving parent.

"Well, we need an analyst. Zoe is trying her best." He shrugged. "But."

"She's not Ruth."

"Or you." He ushered her through the Pods. "Does Calum know you are back?"

"Not yet." She glanced towards her husband's desk as he was hunched over the computer with headphones on. She had no doubt he was trying to work some technical wonder but she had no idea what. Tariq looked equally engrossed in his work. For a moment she took time to watch them all, unnoticed. Ros was pacing the inner office as she listened to someone on the phone, Adam was discussing something with Malcolm while Zaf was talking to Beth and Dimitri. She sighed, wondering if this was how the Grid would look once her Dad and Ruth finally left. She had no doubt if her father retired Ruth wouldn't be far behind. She folded her arms, suddenly extremely proud of her dad and stepmother. Somehow they had put the team she saw together and kept them together. Domestic Anti-terrorism was not the easiest unit to work in within MI 5 but she wouldn't change her team, her second family for the world. In that moment she knew exactly why Harry was so loyal to his team. It was about more than the work. It was about trust. She jogged down the steps as she realised Ros had spotted her and was beckoning her to the inner office. She was determined Harry was going to have a section to come back to, she had work to do.
