Yang picked a few fries off her plate. "Man, you guys kicked some serious ass in that match."
After Weiss nibbled on a strawberry, she replied. "Thanks to the dolt and her planning."
Blake stared at her teammate with a deadpan look as she held her salmon bagel. "It wasn't Ruby who took down Russel in under a minute."
Despite Weiss having a long night, she battled well and was precise as usual. Knowing what happened the night before only made Blake even more impressed.
Of course, neither Weiss nor Blake got enough sleep after what happened. And then they had to go to classes all day. While somehow paying attention to the lectures. And to top it off, Weiss just had a partner's match. At least the school day was almost over. They only had one more class. So right now, they had to focus on eating what was in front of them.
From hearing how long it took, Weiss looked surprised. "It was under a minute? I thought it was much longer."
Yang waved her off and had an eagerness in her voice. "Nah, it was really quick. They didn't stand a chance against you guys. Especially when Ruby decided to basically execute Cardin."
Ruby crossed her arms after swallowing a grape. "Hey, he thought he could actually catch me. I had to put him in his place."
Together, the sisters laughed.
"I almost felt bad for him," Yang said between chuckles. "Almost."
While they giggled, Weiss picked at her salad. She wasn't hungry at all. The last several hours ensured she lost her appetite.
Ruby thoughtfully looked over at her partner. "You sure you're okay, Weiss? You haven't eaten much and it looked like you took a hard hit."
Yang backed her sister up. "There was a dent in the ground where you landed."
"My aura didn't even fluctuate much," Weiss reminded them, still picking at the salad. "The system malfunctioned. Ms. Goodwitch said so."
Ruby simply shrugged and picked up her plate to tilt it to her lips. "If you say so."
"Ruby Rose!" Weiss exclaimed in a chiding tone. "Are you seriously only eating cookies for lunch? You don't even have an entré."
From the question, Yang sent her teammate a look. "Are you really surprised?"
Now that she mentioned it…
"I guess not."
Yang glanced to the side and noticed her partner looked tired. Gently, she nudged her side. "You good? You're quieter than usual."
From the question, Blake's gaze finally tore from the bagel. "I'm a little tired. Been thinking about what I'll do for my essay."
More like thinking about what happened last night.
"Ah crap, when's that due again?" Yang asked, annoyed from the thought.
"Six days," Blake reminded.
From hearing their distress, Weiss chimed. "You can use mine as a template. I finished it last night."
"Really?!" Yang yelped.
After Ruby finished chewing, she put an arm around Weiss' shoulders. "Of course you did. My partner's so smart."
All Weiss did was scowl, reluctantly allowing the contact as she was bopped around by her excited leader.
Yang wiggled her eyebrows mischievously. "Cool if I copy you?"
The question caused Weiss to glare at her. "It won't be 'cool' with the teachers, you bumbling brute. However, you may learn from it."
"What are you, my mom?" Yang asked while snickering, which earned another glare. "You know I can never resist teasing the princess!"
Weiss put a hand on her head like she was getting a headache. "Can you behave yourself for once and eat quietly?"
The blonde chewed a bit on her burger before replying. "You're askin' for the impossible."
Ruby noticed how red her partner's eyes were due to lack of sleep. Worried, she placed a hand on her arm. "Are you tired too?"
From the contact, Weiss slightly grimaced and pulled away.
"Did Cardin hit your arm, too?" Ruby asked, concern shooting to the sky.
"I'm okay," Weiss said slowly so her partner would understand. "You worry far too much. I'm tired because I stayed up late working on my essay. Have you even started on yours?"
"I'm a pro procrastinator!" Ruby declared. "I thrive under deadline pressure!"
From that, Yang rolled her eyes. "Not according to your last report you don't."
"Don't crush my hopes and dreams!"
Collective laughs.
When they calmed down, Weiss stood and picked up her bowl. "I'll be right back. I forgot my notebook for the next class."
"Better hurry back," Ruby called after her. "Next class is in a few!"
With that, Weiss left the cafeteria. Her team watched her disappear into the crowd of people.
"That's weird," Yang chirped. "Usually she has everything."
"Eh," Ruby shrugged. "She's tired, so's Blake. We're all bound to forget some things eventually."
Blake gave her a deadpan look. "Says the girl who never gets tired."
Noting that, Yang swiped her sister's caffeinated drink.
"Hey!"
"No more caffeine today," Yang said in a sisterly tone, which earned a pout. "You know how you can get."
"Ugh, fine," Ruby whined, then snagged her sister's water bottle.
Blake stared between the two. "What happens?"
"She gets wild," Yang informed with a smug grin. "She's eccentric, doesn't stop talking, and then crashes for several hours."
Ruby blurted. "That's with coffee!"
Yang crossed her arms in defense. "That's with anything you have too much of."
Abruptly, the bell rang. This signaled for them to leave the cafeteria and head to the next class. They only had about ten minutes.
"She's not back yet!" Ruby almost panicked.
Yang almost scoffed at the mere thought of her teammate missing class. "I bet the princess is heading to class now."
It was then that Blake moved to grab Weiss' backpack. She noted the book slightly peeking out of her bag. It was the notebook she used for the next class. The correct one. It was an odd thing to remember, but she remembered it nonetheless.
Black ears flickered, something's wrong.
"I'll go check on her," Blake offered, which earned somewhat surprised expressions. "What? She never takes this long. We'll meet you in class."
Yang sent her a nod. "Sounds good. Thanks for doin' that, Blake."
Swiftly, the faunus gathered all their trash and threw it away. She easily moved through the crowd and finally made it to the vacant dorm.
I'm not comfortable with leaving her alone quite yet, Blake thought, feeling a strong urge to protect her teammate. I'm probably being paranoid.
At last, she reached the door and twisted the knob.
"Weiss?" Blake called, looking around. "Are you still here? Class is about to start."
Amber orbs scanned the room...
It was unlocked, so she has to be in here-
… Until her eyes reached the floor.
"Weiss?!"
At last, we have arrived… the sick chapter.
Stay dandy,
~Toto
