not seeing any. Yeah, I guess I'm pretty tame.
The world is full of opposites: Light and Darkness, Hot and Cold, Day and Night, Man and Woman...Water and Fire. They thrive on a fragile balance, for without one, the other will cease to exist. But such wisdom had been forgotten by the time I came into the world.
I had been taught from an early age that continuity, tradition and constancy were the backbone of my past, present and future. Like stayed with like in other words. That was simply the way things were done.
But when I look at my wife today, and see the mastery she has of waterbending (almost equal to mine with fire), the way my eyes can pick out her blue robes so easily in the sea of red that is our kingdom, and the happiness she brings me that has been missing for so long, I am grateful for the wisdom of my elders.
