Hari Potter and the Philosophers Stone

Chapter 1 – The Child Who Lived

The Dursley's prided themselves on being very normal, so normal that they were almost beige, boring, ordinary or Vanilla to some. So ordinary, that they hated anything being different from what they called normal. They had a young son named Dudley who was a very high spirited child, he knew what he wanted and he knew how to get it, by kicking, screaming and hitting his mother. He looked very much like the love child of Mr and Mrs blobby except he didn't have big yellow spots dotted everywhere. The Dursley's had the perfect life on paper; a good sized house, a very important job and great potential prospects. Though they had a secret, a secret that they tried very hard to keep, very quiet. The Potter's.

Mrs Potter was Petunia Dursley's younger sister and she was of a strange sort, the Dursley's were often worried that the Potters would show up on their doorstep for all the neighbours to gawp at. Petunia knew they had a child not long after she'd had Dudley but she didn't want them mixing, no, none of that sort around here. Thank you very much.

The day started like all the others on Privet Drive, Mr Dursley left home like every work day; he drove to work but after seeing people dressed up in fancy dress, like robes from a Camelot story, on the streets all day, it had left him feeling anxious.

Groups were huddled whispering but Mr Dursley was too busy to pay them any attention once he was in his office, No, he had his mind on tools. Mr Dursley was the Head Manager of a company called Grunnings that rented and sold tools and equipment. They had 60 stores across the country and he oversaw them all.

That evening, when all the habitants of the cul-de-sac were safely tucked up in bed dreaming of pleasant things, found the strangest of people in their small community. One Albus Dumbledore, he pressed his deluminator so the lights would go off in the street before starting his way towards 4 Privet Drive. He heard a cat meow on the pavement and before he knew it the tabby cat turned into his transfiguration teacher, Professor Minerva McGonagall.

"Is it true Albus? The Potters?" The woman asked the elderly man, Albus' face lowered as an answer. "And Hari? What of the child?"

He sighed heavily, "Lily and James did indeed perish by the hands of Voldemort last night. Hari survived, thankfully. Hagrid is bringing the child."

The woman's eyes looked alarmed, "Albus are you sure…?"

"My dear professor," Albus interrupted, "I would trust Hagrid with my life." The woman didn't like the answer, it was written all over her face, but didn't say anything. Instead she fell into step next to her employer.

"Albus, these people. I don't think we should leave Hari here, they are the worst..."

"-they are the only family Hari has." He interrupted her again, the female's face almost huffed but instead she turned her head towards the sound of the engine that was growing louder.

Hagrid's bike emerged from the sky roaring into the quiet street, he stopped it down the street and walked up to them.

"Professor's I have Hari." Hagrid's rough voice boomed. He had tears emerging from his eyes as he gave the baby over to Albus.

"It's ok Hagrid; we'll be seeing Hari again after all." Albus patted the large man on the arm before placing the bundle on the doorstep of 4 Privet Drive and left.

Ten years had passed almost seemly in a blink of an eye, and though the pictures of Dudley had changed on the walls there were none showing of the other child that lived in the house. In fact, if you didn't already know, you wouldn't know another child lived in the house at all, a year ago not even the bedrooms would show an outsider that more than one child lived there. Though Hari Potter was right now in bed asleep, Hari was dreaming of flying motorcycles, cold laughs, green lights and giants, that is until Petunia Dursley woke Hari up crashing her to wakefulness and reality.
