A/N: Casual affection: Hair brushing, Sky/Z ~ Tumblr Prompt by lastmafagafo!

I'll be honest I enjoyed doing this much more than I intended to ^^

Note: Set after the body changing episode that I can't remember the name of... Sky's hair we're MESSED up by that monster come on!

Sydney Drew chasing Sky Tate around with a hairbrush is not something one sees every day. And not a lot of people want to intercept whatever the hell is happening, simply because munching on popcorn cost less.

"What's happening?" Z Delgado asked, as Jack offered her a handful of popcorn and she shook her head.

"What's happening?" She repeated, bad Jack finally explained, "remember Sky swapping bodies with a monster this morning?" Z nodded, and Jack continued, "wellllll Syd's been fussing that he ruined Sky's perfectly perfect hair, and she wants to do his hair. He doesn't want her to do his hair. He's afraid she'll make him into some sorta Justin Bieber or something."

Z chuckled, "Okay, yeah that does make sense. But I agree with sad, sort of, I mean he looks like he ran his hair through a Bullring. HEADFIRST"

Jack also laughed heartily, "do you think she'll be able to?" He asked, and Z shook his head, "Syd? Sydney Drew? Getting Sky under her hairbrush?" Z scoffed, "impossible"

Jack sensed a jealous undertone in her voice, and he knew he just had to poke it. "I don't think Sky Tate can come under anyone's hairbrush" he said, shaking his head.

That caught Z's attention, "what do you mean?"

"That boy is too wild to be tamed" Jack said, innocently, knowing he was adding oil to the fire.

"Care to put your money where your mouth is?" Z challenged, and Jack laughed, of course, he knew what would happen.

"If you can comb Sky Tate's hair, and get him in these clips," he held two of them up, which he had been holding on to for Syd, "I'll do your laundry for a month"

Z's smirk was priceless at that moment, especially since she loved how well Jack knew her, she hated doing laundry.

"And if I lose, I'll do yours" she said, bumping fists with him, and smirking, she got up, and ran out. The bet placed, she needed to comb Sky Tate's hair.

"Hey Tate" she was sneaking in a hallway, and jumped out of him, when he reached that route while running away from Syd.

"Z? GOSH?!" He almost screamed, seeing her in front of him all of a sudden, and then let out a small relieved chuckle seeng her there.

"Hey Sky," her smirk told him immediately he was in a truckload of trouble, and he spun around on his heel, trying to get away, but before he could, he felt an iron grip on his hand, which had nothing to do with Sydney Drew's fist of iron, spinning him around on his heel, in a cheesy Bollywood movie style, and pulled him into the side corridor.

"Whatcha doin?" He asked, slightly panicking,

"Saving you from Pinky Drew" she replied, that same conceited smirk plastered to her face.

"And to what do I owe this favour?" He asked, but she didn't reply, smiling just the same, "Okay, let me ask like this, what are you up to?"

"I think the right question should be, what do I want in return" she shot back, pulling him deeper into the hallway, as they noted Syd chasing Sky down the other way.

"That sounds more dangerous" he nodded. Half a year with Elizabeth Delgado was enough to tell him all that he needed to know that when she wanted something in return... it was going to be some major chaos.

"I" She started and Sky felt his hair standing on an edge the way she said it, "I want to do your hair"

Hell.

Sky continued staring at her, too surprised to even move, or better, run away, and she chuckled, "don't worry, I won't deck you in pink like Syd would've... I'm only doing it on a date anyway" she said offhandedly.

"Really?" That caught his attention, "soooo you don't really care about me or my hair looking messy at all?"

She sensed she might have juuust hurt him a tiny bit, and quickly tried to swallow her words, "It's not like I don't… care, I mean I do, I just don't care about your… hair…. I care about you " the words were out before she could help it, and a small blush spread all over her cheeks. (Not like it didn't on Sky's either!)

"I— I—" Sky stuttered for a second, before regaining his composure, and with a conceited smirk, he said, "If you do my hair, you'll have to let me do yours"

Z shook her head, "nuh uh, I can't imagine in hell what you mean you want to do MY hair?"

"Just like that" he winked, "tit for tat"

"Alriiiiight. My room or yours?" She asked, smirking, and linking her arm in his, as they strode off.

Z Degldao's shoulder length hair were in Sky Tate's fingers, as he examined them curiously, looking at her, he'd have thought her hair would be slightly rough, and unruly. But touching them, actually having them in his grasp, he realised they were so SO soft. Sky blushed realising her hair smelled slightly like lemon grass… that was probably her shampoo, and it was so… different.

He had read in books, and fanfictions, and basically heard everywhere that girl's hair smelled like vanilla, or strawberry. Never had he imagined that Z would be using lemon grass... so different. Just like her.

"Will you just keep smelling my hair, or do something with them?" She chuckled, realising he was hooked.

"I—" he stuttered again, having been caught in the act, then chuckled, still a bit nervous, as he looked up a YouTube video on how to do girl's hair. He had no idea how to, but he could learn. The video had subtitles, so he muted it, so Z could not hear the instructions. They had made a deal that whatever they did on each other's hair, the other won't be allowed to see until they were both done, and once they were, they would look at them together.

"Sooo what would you like me to do to your hair?" He asked as a professional coiffure would, and she chuckled at his officious voice,

"Whatever you can whip up Tate" she winked, "I'm sure it'll be terrible anyway"

"Ah come on" he groaned, but inwardly made a note to make her look like a doofus if it was the last thing he ever did... and knowing Z, it probably would be.

Brushing her hair with a hairbrush, as they sat in his room, he started making plates, letting his fingers run through her hair, taking three strands apart, and putting them over the other, into braids.

An hour later, he chuckled softly to himself and sat back, satisfied with his handiwork.

"I am afraid to see what monstrosity you have committed on my poor hair... I just hope I don't have to become bald" she laughed turning her head around, to look at him, her smile lighting up the universe, as he realised she looked absolutely adorable even in that ridiculous hairstyle.

"Whatever it is, you have to wear it for at least a day" he winked, "and now... it's my turn to endure the pain"

Five minutes later, Sky was yelling as Z brushed his hair, getting the tangles straight and pulling tufts of hair out in the process.

"OUCHOUCHOUHOUCHHHH!" He yelled, as she pulled at a particularly stubborn lock.

"SIT STRAIGHT" She admonished and he shut up for the moment, and she chuckled. Rarely ever did she have so much power over him, and she was enjoying it so throughly.

He felt nice though, after the combing was done, and his hair were smooth as ever. Usually if Z or Syd would not have insisted, he'd have gone to a hairdresser anyway, because man Sky Tate loved his hair. They were a major part of who he was! And though he pretended that he didn't bother all that much he had actually been a bit annoyed with the monster messing his hair up.

But he didn't want Sydney Drew to touch his hair... NO. That was an absolute no.

Something clicked, that made Sky turn around, alarmed.

"What was that?" He asked, looking at her hands.

They were empty.

"What was what?" She asked, smiling with sugar coated tooth rotting candy sweetness.

"That click!"

"My knuckle" she lied, and he eyed her suspiciously, and she smirked, "I didn't question you when you did my hair"

Ugh. Why was she so smart?!

Few more minutes, and she was done. The moment of judgement had come.

"Do you have a mirror?" He asked, blushing, "I don't think we should go out in public without... ya know... seeing each ourselves?"

Z nodded, blushing like him too, "I'd hate to see what you've turned me into..."

They did find a mirror hiding somewhere underneath Syd's bed, large enough for both of them to see their faces together...

Two fountain ponytails on either side of his head, tied by one pink and one yellow clips, looking like an adorkable baby girl, and with a matching blush to go with on his face, he stared at her handiwork... hating to admit it, but being quite impressed.

It was wayyyyyy too cute.

Yes it was a biiiit unorthodox, but she had to admit, when she had thought she'd put him in those fountain ponytails like a kid, she hadn't even imagined he'd look that cute...

Z meanwhile looked very, very different in four french braids looking absolutely girly and adorable. Z was essentially a tomboy, and Sky knew looking so girly, and basically like SYD would really get on his nerves... he hadn't imagined that Z would really look that charming... the fact that Z could rock even French braids was more of a surprise to him than anything else... and as the two looked at each other's masterpiece into the mirror, they felt a sorta warmth emanate...

"I— I hate what you've done" she said in an awestruck voice.

"Yeah... yeah me too" he whispered back, just as awestruck... he couldn't believe it but the fountains actually looked really REALLY cute on him.

"At least our kids won't have a problem of having the same hairstyle to school every day"

The words were out of his mouth before he could stop himself.

Z stared at him for a very... VERY long minute, almost like an eternity, in which he felt like he was dying every second of pure agony of heartache.

Then she grinned broadly at him, and said, "I'm not letting you touch our kids' hair. They'll have to deal with fountain ponies all their lives"

PS: yes, obviously, they kept the same hairstyle all day, and yes, everyone made fun of it, and yes, Jack did Z's laundry for the entire next month, and yes, Syd and Bridge could not believe that Z had actually managed to bring Sky under her hairbrush...
