Chapter 4

It was early morning about 6am and I'd just woken up. I made my way to the kitchen, which was empty. Abe was away so we had skeleton crew around the estate. I noticed my refection in the window.

My skin was tanned from being under the sun. I had gotten my curves back from when I had stopped eating. I looked happy, carefree and I liked it. In the kitchen I grabbed ingredients for breakfast, I heard Owen come up behind me.

"Morning sweet lady, did you sleep ok?" He smiled from across the room. He was dressed wearing white combat shorts and a stone coloured shirt. I noted his camo baseball cap and sunglasses he'd placed on the side. He really was the pinnacle of sexy.

I nodded as I poured myself a coffee. It's strange how a few months ago I hated coffee, I mean with a vengeance. But the months with scattered sleep had passed I began to rely on coffee to get me through a day. Now, I actually enjoyed it well except when baba tried to give me Turkish coffee. Now that was some strong stuff, baba had laughed at me I was very adult like and stuck my tongue out.

"You should get yourself dressed. I'm taking you out." His smooth voice told me as grabbed my left hand, he raised it to his mouth as he kissed my knuckles.

"Out? Where?" I asked him crinkling my eyebrows.

"Out. Now go, clothes." He smiled taking my cup and spinning me around. He started packing the ingredients away while I walked to my room.

He did this to me often. Springing surprise outings on me. I dressed in a white off shoulder gypsy top and a white gypsy skirt that went down to my feet, I put some gold flat sandals on and I left my hair down, just putting some gloss on. I slipped my stake in my thigh holster and placed a second in my bag.

I met Owen in the kitchen again. "Baby girl, you look beautiful." I smiled as he spun me around. He grabbed my hand and pulled me out the door. It was 7am where would we be going? The sun hadn't even risen yet but He kept his hand in mine and it felt good.

"So, when did you decide we were going out?" I asked as we walked along the street.

"This morning." He answered, we strolled slowly. "There are places I want to see, what better time?" I smiled a full smile. I could even feel it in my eyes.

After about twenty minutes we arrived at the Bosphorous River. It was lined with boats, I noticed Owen steering us towards a colourful one, it was a restaurant where he'd booked us a table. We were shown to a table overlooking the river, I looked over the water, lights were making artificial light all across the river, it was a breath taking view.

We spoke about anything and everything through breakfast. We saw the sun rise after we had eaten, I wasn't sure I ever wanted to leave Turkey, the beauty was everywhere. After the sun had risen we sat back down where we swapped stories for hours and when we finally left my cheeks were aching from laughing so much.

We walked all over, stopping when we wanted, shopped when we wanted. Just basking in each other's company, enjoying a lazy day out. By the time evening came we were walking down the walk way towards the blue mosque. It was stunning at sunset. The lanterns on the walkway were on, it all felt magical.

"Thank you sugar, I've really enjoyed today." Owen was standing in front of me. We were chest to chest and as we touched I felt the fire inside me engulf my thoughts. It scared me I wasn't sure I was ready, I turned my head from him.

"What's wrong?" I couldn't say anything, I didn't want to wreck the day Owen had been perfect. "Don't hide from me stunner." He placed his fingers under my chin and pulled gently so I was facing him again. "It's ok, today has been perfect, thank you for sharing it with me." He kissed me on the forehead and he placed his hands around my waist. We stood like that for a while as the sun set fully.

We made towards home each not wanting the night to end.

"You want to hit a club tonight?" Owen asked as we opened the door. I nodded turning on the kitchen light. We moved through the house, turning lights on and making the house come alive, my computer started ringing from the kitchen side. I smiled at the name, it was Lissa. I connected the call looking eager as Lissa came into view.

"Where have you been? I've been worried! I've been trying for hours! You've hardly been around for weeks." She accused me before she took me in, her mind was going a million miles a second and it made me feel a little dizzy. Making sure to block her I smiled at her, "And what are you wearing, you look great! Where have you been? Rose! Are you blushing? What's going on?" Lissa hardly took a breath.

"God chill Liss. We've been sightseeing." I said turning a few more lights on so Lissa wasn't looking at an almost dark screen. I noticed Christian, Eddie and Adrian in the background. "Hey guys, how's it hanging?" Lissa smiled at the screen.

"What have you been up to Rose? You look different. You look great." The guys in the background came closer all peering at the screen Eddie, Adrian and Christians faces all took over my screen. I stood there feeling self-conscious.

"Take a picture, it'll last longer." I remarked. Adrian gave me a smirk, he took his phone out and took one. Cheeky shit.

"Thanks for the picture little dhampir." I laughed able to enjoy his banter again.

"Good to see you too, my big pain in the butt. How's it going?" We spoke briefly, both Eddie and Christian piping up when they wanted to. While I spoke to my friends Owen brought me a cocktail, I thanked him. His fingers lingering on mine a little longer than needed. I felt an electrical buzz course through my body making me shiver.

"And who is that?" Lissa piped up through the screen. I smiled at Owen who turned to the computer screen and my friends. It was funny they were all up close, the camera not hiding anything from my friends who were all trying to get a good look at the new comer.

"This is Owen, he works for my dad."

"Hi, I've heard a lot about you all." He bowed his head slightly from next to me. From the screen I heard Lissa gasp, I couldn't see her due to Eddie and Christian looking Owen up and down, inside I was laughing manically at the ludicrousness of it all.

"Rose I need to hear everything, I'm going to call your phone now so we can speak properly!" I laughed before she hung up the video call without even letting me say bye to everyone and phoned me straight away.

"What is going on?!" She ordered, her voice lower telling me she had left the room that she had been in. "I haven't been able to reach you for weeks! What the hell Rose?!" She sounded a little angry. "I thought you were there to get over Dimitri not throwing yourself at any available guy?!"

"Woah there Liss," I placated, "-where the hell did that come from?" I asked as I sat on the sofa. Owen asked if he should leave but I shook my head. He sat next to me so I turned and placed my feet on his lap.

"I'm sorry Rose, it's just been hard over here. I'll tell you properly when I see you." Well I decided I didn't want to wait so I probed our bond and found out exactly what was happening.

"Lissa, I miss you too. The first few months were always going to be the hardest, weren't they?" Lissa gasped again.

"Rose! I wish you wouldn't do that." I heard her sigh over the phone. "So tell me everything about Owen, how'd you meet? What's been going on?" And that's what we did for the next 45 minutes. Poor Owen sat there massaging my feet as I spoke to Lissa about him.

"Have you kissed yet?"

"No! Will you stop? It's not like that. Anyways I need to get ready." I told her looking at the time I told her I had to go. But Lissa really didn't want me to go,

"Get ready? Where are you going?" She asked eagerly.

"We're going to a club."

"Which one?" Lissa was excited, I knew she wanted to google the club. I shrugged, then remembered she couldn't see me.

"I don't know."

"SuAda" Owen piped up. I told Lissa who promptly started screeching in my ear.

"That's really exclusive. It looks amazing. OMG! It's on an island! What are you wearing?"

"Liss, I'm not even in my room yet, I have no idea." She begged me to get ready with her over the computer. I agreed, if she let me go and shower.

Owen laughed in the background before he retreated to his room while I carried my laptop to my room where I quickly jumped into the shower. Within 5 minutes I was washed and out. I dried myself wrapping my hair and body in thick white towels. Lissa was already calling me back through the computer. I answered the call.

"Little dhampir, if you go out like that, you'll give everyone a heart attack. But at least they'll die happy." Adrian's smirking face appeared on the screen. I double checked I was covered, last thing I needed was for Adrian to see me naked.

"Where's Lissa?"

"She's getting a drink and I couldn't wait to see you again. I hear you're going on a date." I noticed Adrian's face drop a little.

"No, I'm going to a club with a friend. There's a difference." I told him. I heard Lissa sigh as she came into view.

"What are you wearing?" I shrugged. I pulled out a few outfits, both Lissa and Adrian giving me their opinions. I pulled out an off shoulder black dress. Lissa screamed.

"That's it!"

I quickly dried my hair leaving it to hang down my back, Lissa had wondered off while I dried my hair, I couldn't talk with the dryer on. I walked into the bathroom to get into my underwear once on I then walked into my room to grab my dress.

I heard a scuffle coming from the computer and a chorus of owws. I looked up eyeing Adrian, Christian and Eddie all holding their arms and looking embarrassed.

"You guys perving?" I asked with a laugh. "Liss, hit 'em across the head again from me."

I heard Lissa through the bond, it wasn't Lissa who hit the guys, it was Dimitri. I suddenly felt self-conscious, not that I minded them seeing me on my underwear, but Dimitri was there, I had actually forgotten about him. I decided to ignore the recent happenings. I sat at my make-up table, this was the first time I had used it. There was a knock at my door, before I could talk Owen walked in like he owned the place. He handed me another cocktail before giving me a kiss on the head and walking back out, without so much as a word uttered.

I decided on a smoky eye with a little glitter. I spoke to Lissa about everything she had been doing, the boys had lost interest in me putting make up on.

"Nothings going on between you both?" Lissa asked me, her eyes looking behind me.

I shook my head, "Lissa I've been too…" I wanted to say damaged, delicate even but the words wouldn't come. "But I've been better. Owen has made me see the beauty of Turkey, how could I not take notice of the sunsets over the Marmara Sea and sunrises over the Bosphorous River? It's a beautiful place, I've definitely fallen for the country." I said with a large smile.

Lissa beamed at me, "I'm glad you started to worry me."

"I think if I saw me, I would have worried too." I spoke honestly.

Soon I was putting on my black heeled sandals and my thigh holster. A look in the mirror and I deemed myself ready.

"Rose you look stunning." Lissa said over the laptop, when I stood back so she could see the full final result. The boys all glanced over. Adrian and Eddie both wolf whistled. I rolled my eyes at them and curtsied.

"Anyone would think you'd never seen a girl before." I said aloud to the boys.

"Before now, I didn't know you were a girl." Christian said smiling at me. "No seriously though, you look beautiful."

"Well, on that sentimental note, I have a boat to catch, so I'll speak to you soon." I said blowing Lis a kiss. I walked into the kitchen where Owen was making more drinks.

"You look gorgeous, gorgeous." Owen said as he handed me another drink. We made our way out to a taxi where we were loaded on to a water taxi to the club.

We ate in a restaurant on the island. The food was amazing

"I think this place has spoilt me, I'm never eating anywhere else again."

"Maybe I should ask for the recipes?" Owen offered.

"I think if you cooked like that every day; I'd be your willing slave."

We stood from the table after paying, Owen refused my share, "Way to wound a guy Stunner." I rolled my eyes at him making him laugh. We entered the nightclub finding Sydney waiting for us. She looked sunning in black slacks and halter top.

"What are you doing here?"

"Owen told me you were going out, I haven't been out here yet, figured if be safe enough with you."

"I'm so glad you did!" I hugged her and to Sydney's credit she returned it. Within minutes we had drinks in our hands and were laughing at Owen, who had been asked to dance by a group of girls. Owen took it in his stride being surrounded in the ladies, I myself was amazed that he was surrounded and yet managed to dance with all of them in turn.

The dancefloor was filled with people dancing so I grabbed Sydney's hand pulling her to the centre. We danced for what seemed like hours, Owen joining us as the night progressed. Sydney and I had a few dances with some guys who joined us, but mostly I stayed by Sydney, she was my dance partner for the night.

All three of us were having an amazing time, it was the early hours when we stumbled off of the water taxi, there was a guardian waiting in a black car. He said he'd been called to escort us home, I shook my head, Abe being his usual over protective self, I see. I refused to let Sydney go home by herself as she had been drinking. She came home with us, "you can sleep in a spare room if you want." I told her in the car.

When we staggered through the front door, all three of us were giggling. We stopped in the kitchen on the way through to our rooms, I made everyone down a glass of water and then made everyone go to bed.

"Rose can I sleep in with you? I don't feel so good." Her eyes were glazed making me smile at my human friend Owen walked us to my room, giving both of us a kiss on the cheek before he turned to go into his own room a few doors down.

"Goodnight my beautiful blossoms." He called over his shoulder, I laughed as he turned around walking straight into his door frame.

"Good coordination you have there, Reid." I gawfed at him. Sydney was sat on my bed when I entered, her top half was moving in circles she was so far gone. I placed our waters on my bedside and I moved to give her some of my PJ's.

'You know, for a blood sucking fiend, you're not too bad Rose." She managed.

"I only drink blood on Saturdays." I replied with a serious look.

"It is Saturday." Her eyes widened before she smiled.

"You know I don't drink blood Syd, go get changed you drunk human."

"Thank you Rose I don't think I've ever had such a good night out,"

"Nonsense, thanks for meeting us out. It really was a great night." Sydney dressed in the bathroom while I stripped there in the middle of my room. I put my shorts and vest on, turning the main light off and turning the lamp on. Sydney emerged and jumped into my bed next to me. We giggled a little but were soon fast asleep.
