Pallet Town, Ash's P.O.V
I woke up to the sound of my alarm clock and groaned as I knew my mother had already left for work since today she was needed earlier than usual for some reason. 'I'm actually surprised I didn't break this alarm clock as I had with my previous ones' I thought to myself while getting out of bed as I looked at the peaceful scenery staring at me from my bedroom window and hoped that my day would be just as serene… except 'Unfortunately it's Monday, which means school and that means another horrible day at the one place I don't want to be at'
I hastily walked over towards my wardrobe after seeing the time on my alarm and got the closest set of clothing from the drawer. I put on my light-blue and white jacket with a large red collar over my loose fitting black shirt, a pair of sporting gray capri shorts with a thin white line coming down both sides, and blue sneakers with orange laces. Once done I quickly brushed my teeth and ran down towards the living thinking I was going to be late. However, I slowed myself down as I saw I still had 10 minutes before the bus arrived and calmly walked into the kitchen as I grabbed a bowl from the cabinet and filled it up with milk and cereal
After I finished my small breakfast, I ran back up into my room to grab my backpack and rushed back into the kitchen to grab the lunch my mom made. Once I placed everything inside my green bag, I grabbed the extra pair of keys mom made for cases such as today and locked the door as I walked towards the bus stop a few blocks away from my house
As soon as I got to the bus stop, I noticed none other than Gary Oak sitting on the bench as he too seemed to be waiting patiently for the bus to arrive. I was actually surprised at seeing my childhood friend around the bus stop at this time since he was the grandson of the Principal at Viridian High and as such always got a ride by either his grandfather or older cousins
"Well if it isn't Ashy-boy himself, fancy seeing you here" he said looking at me with a smirk
"I should be saying that to you, after all you barely take the bus to school" I told him as he shrugged in a 'what can you do' sorta way
"Ready for another day at that place we call prison?" he asked me as I sent him a small smile
"Ready as I'll ever be… which means never" I replied which made Gary chuckle in response
A few minutes later the bus pulled up and both Gary and me hopped on inside. As soon as we both got on, it caused the few students to look up at us, which in turn caused us to be sent some glares our way as we made our way towards the back of the bus. I had already gotten use to this sort of behavior having suffered this since grade 3 due to a series of events that happened and because of that many people stared to see me as an outcast or loner with only a few deciding to stick by my side after that; Gary, Red (who unfortunately moved away) and Leaf Green
I was so lost in my thought that suddenly the bus stopped as I saw none other than Viridian High staring at me from the window, its presence bringing me dread for what was to come. I felt someone tucking at my jacket and saw that everyone except for me and Gary had already rushed off to find their friends. I sighed and slowly followed after the brunette in front of me of off the bus and walked into the building before us
Unfortunately Gary had math as his first class of the day and as such had to go another way. He sent me a small smile and left towards the math hallway upstairs, while I made my way towards my locker to exchange my science textbook for my history one and also put away my lunch so it would not be stolen… again
Just as I closed my locker and was about to make my way over towards my first class, just a few feet away, I suddenly saw a purple haired boy, slam a red haired teen into the lockers hard and held him a couple few above the ground
"Any chance we could reschedule this for maybe after school cause I don't want to be late and get detention again" said the teen as I had to give him points for standing up to the biggest jerk in the school… however unfortunately that would only cause him pain and was something I didn't think he deserved as I made my way over towards them
"Hey!" I yelled out which caught the attention of the 2 boys as well as some of the students surrounding them "Leave him alone Paul" I said with narrowed eyes as Paul let go of the teen, who sent me a worried look while picking himself up
"Just who do you think you are, Ketchum?" Paul asked darkly as he moved towards me
"Nobody" was all I said as he laughed and threw me over towards the lockers, which cause me to slam hard against them
"Pathetic, how's the view from down there?" he mockingly asked
Turning around from my position on the ground, I saw many of the other students take out their phones and held them towards me… probably to record another one of Paul's beatings
"If being down here means not having to see your ugly face, than the view is great" I said out loud instead of saying it in my head like I wanted to 'Where did that confidence even come from?!'
Paul's expression turned into that of a sinister one "Looks like I'm gonna have to teach you a lesson"
However, suddenly a female voice shouted from the crowd "Hey! Leave him alone!" was what I heard as she made her way towards the front of the crowd. I suddenly saw it was none other than the daughter of the police captain in Viridian City. She had a sleeveless orange mini-tunic with a white stripe, black lycra shorts, black ankle socks, white, black, and orange slip-on shoes, black and white gloves with green and black wristbands, and a green bandanna with a white logo
"Stay out of this Maple. This is between Paul and the loser" a rude blonde haired teen named Trip said from beside Paul as he sent her a glare
The brunette (cause I don't know her name since she only just moved here last year), however wasn't planning on backing down as she made her way in between myself and the purple haired jerk "Paul, you wouldn't want me to go and report of this incident to my dad, who in turn could get your whole family in trouble and also have you kicked out of school right?"
Although taken back by what she had just said, the purple haired teen backed away from the two of us "Whatever" Paul said in an indifferent tone as he and his gang of friends left, with the crowd and the brunette also slowly leaving soon afterwards
Just as the late bell was going to ring, I entered the classroom and took my regular seat at the back of the classroom. As soon as I sat down, a brunette in front of me turned to look at me and I realized it was the same girl who had helped me out before
"I thought that what you did out there was great. It was stupid, but it was great" she told me as she started to slowly turn back to face the board; only to look back over at me again with curiosity present on her face "What's your name?"
She took me by surprise, not expecting that question from her and after a brief hesitation I answered her "Ash… umm Ash Ketchum… and you're May, the daughter of the Viridian City police captain right?"
"May Maple" she confirmed with a smile on her face, until it turned to that of a frown "Are you alright though?" she asked in concern
"… What? Yeah, I'm fine…. thanks" I told her as she seemed to slowly relax after hearing I was alright which confused me slightly as to why she even bothered
"That's good. You really shouldn't let those guys kick you around like that" she said in a worried tone
"I'm use to it really… but maybe you shouldn't do that in the future. I know you're the daughter of a police captain and all, but I don't want you to become hated or ruined because of me"
She frowned at my response and wanted to say more, until the teacher called her and to pay attention at the board. I sighed as I started spacing out and hoped that nothing else happens
After reading 'The Dawn of New Heroes' by StillPushingTheTruck, I decided to try and make my own version of a Pokemon superhero au story, crossed over with the tv show Young Justice. This story will mainly focus on Ash slowly finding out about his aura powers and struggling to maintain them a secret from his friends and family. I already have a plan of where I am taking this story and how the next two sequels will also go, as you can see if you've read my profile page. Also the scene in the hallway and when Ash and May talk for the first time were slightly based on The Amazing Spider-Man movie in 2012 scenes with similar scenarios. Characters from Young Justice won't be making appearances in this story, they will have cameos and mentions only for the time being. Characters from the manga will appear (but have their game names) in this story like my Stay Alive fanfic, except Red for the time being. Other than that, feel free to comment on anything you'd like to happen, characters to appear or any OC ideas you may have :)
