May's P.O.V
When I got to school this morning I didn't expect to see a crowd of people surrounding Paul and a raven haired teen, who had saved a slightly younger red haired teen. I couldn't believe these people! They were just willing to let this guy get beat up by (who many and myself included) called the biggest bully ever? Well I wouldn't stand for this!
I was able to get Paul to back off from the teen and wanted to talk to him; except I knew that the bell would be ringing soon and went to class hesitantly. I went to my seat and grabbed my binders from my yellow backpack when I saw the same teen from before enter. He was in my class this whole time? How did I not notice that before… boy do I feel bad now
The first thing I said to him was "I thought that what you did out there was great. It was stupid, but it was great". It was a compliment of course, what he did to help out was something I saw very few do in this school and as such I felt he deserved to have some
Unfortunately he didn't respond to my comment and I was going to leave him alone, until I asked for his name. I saw the surprise and hesitation when he heard my question; however I was happy when he responded with his name
'Ash Ketchum… I think Dawn mentioned him as one of the boys who Paul and many others think of him as outcast' I told him my name with a smile, but then frowned at his last comment about not helping him in the future… what exactly is going on in this school? I was going to ask him why he said that, but the teacher just had to catch me talking and asked me to pay attention
Now people might ask, why not at the end of class. Answer is that I wanted to talk with him some more after class, but he literally just bolted out of the room once the bell rung and I couldn't even get one word out. I sighed in defeat as my chance to talk to him was gone and this was also getting slightly annoying… maybe I'll see him in lunch and get to talk there
A few hours later, Lunch Time (Ash's P.O.V)
"Remember class, read chapters 4-6 by this Wednesday and finish your role for literary circle on Thursday. You are being marked for participation after all and I don't want another repeat of last time" Ms. Bertha said as the bell signaling lunch rang
I pull everything back into my backpack and went straight towards my locker so I could get my lunch. Since I didn't want to run into Paul or his lackeys again, I was out of the hallway before it was too crowded to walk. However, along the way I thought I saw May going to the upstairs floor
Once I made it to the cafeteria, I saw Gary waving me over from the back. I walked over towards our regular table and saw Leaf sitting there as well. Leaf was also a childhood friend of mine who like I said before had stuck by my side, however she would only sit with Gary and me during lunch on Monday, Wednesday and Friday due to having no club meetings those days
"I saw you get saved from Paul and his gang on Instagram by the daughter of the police captain" Gary started saying as Leaf looked up at me with a curious expression "What was that all about? I mean other than Dawn Berlitz; she's the only other girl at the top of the social ladder to do something about Paul and his bullying"
"Maybe she isn't like the other stuck up girls in this school" Leaf said in a somewhat angry tone. Let's just say Leaf has some issues when it comes to the popular girls… especially the most popular girl and queen of the school; Serena Yvonne
"Could be, I mean she did transfer over from Petalburg High last year so maybe that's why she's being nice… once she realizes the truth she'll be demanding things from us like the other shallow people in this school" I said as I saw the same brunette we were talking about suddenly appear into the cafeteria with Dawn and another blonde haired girl… Lillie I think was her name and watched them all sit down at a table a couple of feet from ours
"Dawn is the only exception though. She's been the only girl to come from a famous mother who even bothered to get to know the lower class students or help us out" said Leaf, who took notice of the blunette and waved at her, which Dawn eagerly returned
I saw as May turned over towards our table and looked at her in surprise as she gave me a smile and a wave as well. Not knowing what to do, I awkwardly waved back… I mean it's been awhile since anyone even decided to spare me a glance after all
'What is it about that girl? Is she actually different from all the other girls… or is she just doing this to get our guard down and then stab us in the back' I thought to myself while still staring at her, until I felt something poke me in the arm
"Why are looking at the new girl so much? Unless… does Ash Ketchum finally have a crush on someone" Gary teasingly said, making me turn to face him with wide eyes
I felt my face heat up at what he just said and sent him a glare "What? No! I don't have a crush on May" I whispered harshly to him
"May? So that's her name" Gary said with a smirk as he got up and started walking towards the table Dawn, Lillie and May were sitting at. I looked on confused until it finally hit me at what he was about to do. I got out of my seat and tackled Gary before he could even utter a word to the girls
"I wasn't going to say anything" Gary innocently said, but I knew better as I grabbed the apple Leaf was offering from her hand and placed it in my best friend's mouth 'That should get him to be quiet and not make me seem like a fool!'
"Was that really necessary?" May asked confused as Leaf gave her an eye roll and nodded
"Of course it is! How else will we keep Mr. Perfect quiet from all his babbling" she said in a monotone
Lillie seemed to agree with Leaf as she gave her a nod, while May sweat dropped and said nothing more about the matter
Dawn on the other hand, laughed at our antics as she was use to our behavior "These are some friends of mine that I told you about last week. The brunette with the hat and sarcastic mouth is Leaf Green. The guy on the ground still trying to get the apple lose and thinks he's the best is Gary Oak and lastly the raven haired teen and unfortunately most bullied is Ash Ketchum"
I glared at the blunette for the way she introduced us, but I knew she didn't mean it in a teasing tone so I let it slide as I helped Gary back onto his feet "Good to see you to Dawn, but now we need to go outside, so if you'll excuse us" I told her, not wanting to stay near the blunette much longer due to the glares being sent our way… again
Dawn sighed sadly and I gave her a small smile in return. She waved her hand in a shoo motion and we left the table soon afterwards, but not without me catching May, who seemed to look hesitant about something
After getting to the door, I could hear footsteps running "Why did you tell me in history class to stay away from you?" I heard a voice say from behind me as I turned and saw May lean on the wall
Gary and Leaf gave each other a glance and ran away from us 'Traitors' I thought to myself as I still didn't answer her, not wanting to tell May in slight fear that she would turn on me after finding out
May glared at me even harder and I sighed, knowing she wouldn't stop until I answered her question "Look I appreciate the concern, really I do. Fact is that I'm used to all that anyway. Paul, Drew and Trip have made it clear that I'm their personal punching bag" I told her as she didn't seem to believe me. I did give her part of the truth, not my fault if she doesn't want to see it's true
"Fine, I'll drop the issue for now since I can see you're being truthful. However, I will say this; if you ever need someone to talk to or even a shoulder to lean on… I'm willing to be that person" she said quietly that I almost didn't hear her
"Why do you care so much?" I finally asked, as she looked shocked by my question
"What do you mean 'Why do I care so much?' Can't I care for a friend?" she countered and now it was my turn to look shocked at her
"We're from two different worlds May… we can never be friends" I told her softly as her expression soften and I heard her walking closer towards me
"Why? Can't we just be two normal people who want to become friends?" she asked placing a hand on my cheek, which made me feel all warm inside for some reason
I took her hand of off my cheek and turned my head away from her "Even if I wanted to be your friend or not, it would never work. We're from two different worlds May… you would only get teased or worse suffer like I do. Gary, Leaf and Dawn all deserve better, but they're too stubborn to see reason… please May, I don't want to see you get hurt because of me. So just stay away and pretend you never met me"
With that said I left the brunette, but before I closed the door, I took a glance at May and looked down at the ground sadly. No matter how I feel towards her, be it a friend, enemy or just an acquaintance… maybe in the future it'll be different, but for now it's better this way and I just hope she doesn't hate me for this
Alright here's the second chapter! So I added in Dawn and Lillie had a minor appearance too. Here we see May wanting to become friends with Ash, but we find out he doesn't since he believes it's for her safety. Sorry if some of you don't like how this chapter went, but I wanted to make it clear how Ash and his friends are treated by the others and due to this and how his friendship with Dawn isn't welcomed by the others
Also just want to get this out of the way, but I'm sorry for making Serena be the queen of the school. It was either her or Misty and in the end I chose to use Serena as you can see. Don't think that I hate her by doing this, no on the contrary, Serena is my third favourite pokegirl. Point is if I wanted to make this an AdvanceShipping story than I wanted Serena have zero interest in Ash and went with this direction. Just wanted to clear that up
