It was almost 2 weeks since what Gary called as 'The day we almost died if not for Ash' happened. All three who had been present, slowly started to forget about the events that had transpired that day and went along with their lives. That is all except one who had started to noticed somethings involving a certain black-haired boy, who was currently on his way to his first class
When it came to Ash, those who knew him well could tell that something was going on with the raven-haired teen... almost as if something changed that day
After that last time that he pushed his childhood friend for an answer, Gary didn't have it in him for another confrontation. From what he had noticed so far, Ash had become far jumpier in certain situations and his perception had also seemed to have increased
Before the accident, Paul and his lackeys would always get the drop on Ash. Now however, whenever Paul tried something, Gary had seen a confused look appear on Ash's face until it turned to realization at the last second and caused whatever prank, punishment, or trap to fail
When Leaf had asked Ash the second time it happened, he avoided the questioned and for the rest of that day, Ash had avoided them and even Dawn. The only person he hadn't was May, due to being her partner for science class, but even she hadn't gotten anything out of him
Whatever was going on with his best friend, Gary made his mission to find out as he slowly slipped into his classroom, watching Ash take a left towards the math hallway
Meanwhile with Ash
If one were to tell you that you had a special power hidden within you, Ash wouldn't have believed that and just shrugged it off. However, when you suddenly find yourself with said uncontrollable powers, you have no choice to believe it... no matter how hard it is too
So far Ash had tried to ignore said abilities and had been going about his life as if nothing had changed... but that wasn't true, and he knew it. No matter how hard he tried, something always happened and caused his powers to appear. Keeping this a secret hadn't been easy to do either, with both Gary and Leaf beginning to notice something was off with him
He made it towards his desk and sighed as he took out his homework and pencils. Seeing that there were still a few minutes before class started, so Ash decided to take advantage of that do the remaining questions he hadn't been able to do last night
Just as Ash was on the last question, he heard a couple of students laughing. Looking over at his classmates, Ash couldn't help but stare at them for a moment and then turned away as to not cause a scene. He would never be able to be the same as them anymore... not that he ever was in the first place since many made it clear that they wanted nothing to do with him
None of them had to worry about hiding special abilities or how at times said abilities wanted to be released if it wasn't for his limited control. So far, the only ability that he had no problem with using was the one that allowed him to sense and see his surroundings
Another thing to note was his increase in strength as well. Ash had noticed 4 days ago during lunch, when both he and Lucas had been asked to help their art teacher move a couple boxes, the two that he held felt so light and easy to carry. It wasn't until he heard Lucas' comment and noticed him struggling with his own two boxes, that Ash made the connection and as such was scared of handing fragile objects like that accident in the science lab yesterday when he had accidently broken a beaker in his hand and Mr. Rowan had been very angry. That was also the day he learned he could heal fast, since his hand was no longer bleeding once he reached the nurse's office
With his teacher now in class, Ash tuned into what was being said as his thoughts from before were pushed into the back of his mind
After School
The rest of the school day had surprisingly gone without any sort of incident. It was honestly surprising for the teen since the last few days something always happened that he had to make excuses for, some which he knew sounded like a lie
"Hey Ash!" a voice called out as the raven-haired teen turned around and saw Leaf making her way towards him, his hands tightening his hold on the straps of his backpack
"L-Leaf! W-w-what are y-y-you doing h-here? I-I thought y-you and G-G-Gary were going to t-t-the mall or something" he said, and man did he hate how he stuttered while saying that
The brunette in turn tilted her head in confusion at his tone, but didn't comment on it as she instead grabbed hold of him and started tugging him towards the basketball field where Gary, Ethan, May and Dawn all stood with a basketball being thrown around
"Found him! Now we got equal teams of three for this to work. Boys' vs girls' basketball tournament is about to begin!" Leaf enthusiastically exclaimed as May giggled at the girl's excitement
"Not yet, we gotta wait for Lucas. He agreed to be referee" Dawn stated and sure enough they saw him making his way over "Now we can begin"
Lucas stood in the middle hold the ball, with Ethan on one side and Leaf on the other. The remaining four others stood on their half of the field. Although still nervous, Ash decided to try and least have some fun with his friends
"3... 2... 1... start!" Lucas called out throwing the ball up high as both Ethan and Leaf tried to get the ball onto their side. Ultimately it was Ethan who was able to get the ball as Gary caught it and took of in a run. Ash following close behind, being aware of May who was chasing after him
The game had been going great, with both teams having 5 points each. Only one point remained before game over. Right now, May had the hand on her, as she tried to escape from Gary as he continuously blocked her way
Suddenly taking the ball from the brunette, Gary threw it towards Ash since he was the only one open. Now everything was up to him, should he fail, his team would lose and probably hear Gary complain about the lost
Not wanting to let his teammates down, Ash took a deep breath and was in a flash. He didn't seem to realize until he literally shattered the backboard glass that his powers had acted up. Taking a step back from the broken pieces of glass, Ash stood still
Still looking scared, he slowly turned around and saw the looks of surprise and awe at what had just happened. Shaking himself, Ash made a beeline towards his bag and took off soon after, not stopping once as he heard his friends call after him. If he had turned back, he would have noticed Gary's calculating look follow him
It was time to accept the reality of things, these powers were now a part of him, and he needs to learn how to control them soon unless he wants to be exposed or worse... hurt someone
Gary is starting become suspicious and Ash is still doubting himself. Think someone will figure out what's going on with him? Also it seems Ash is finally accepting the reality of the situation as seen at the end, maybe that will help put aside all doubts he's got running around his head. Also next chapter we get a new appearance made, as well as some more mentioned heroes. Also yes I took another idea from the Amazing Spider-Man movie with the whole basketball and glass shattering scene
