I've had a lot of ideas thanks to SI based fics. One of these happens to be a Lilo and Stitch idea. Now, before you get the torches and pitchforks because of how this sounds, this is an idea that involves Nani and an SI OC. Don't get me wrong, in terms of lore and story, David is a cool dude and in the way that both the movies and the TV series where he was pretty ok with everything that was going on. But I wanted to go a different direction and explore something different, this is that story.
Title: So, my girlfriend's dog, aunt, and uncle are all aliens.
Summary: After getting a new job on Kauai Island, Jeremy Roth meets a newly single Nani and the two hit it off.
Pairing: SI!OC x Nani
Disclaimer: I only own my copy of MS Word and my desktop. Lilo & Stitch belongs to Disney. I only own this odd idea. See the foreword for the full disclaimer.

Jeremy so far was loving the Hawaiian island chain so far, the only thing that he wasn't going to enjoy around April was the property tax rate. He had used up most of his 'moving vacation' days to explore the big island as well as Oahu with all the various national parks as well as Pearl Harbor. On the last day of his vacation, his new workplace had reserved a table for him and his department to enjoy a luau. The evening came and the show began. They had allowed patrons to enter close to an hour earlier to get settled and to order drinks. His coworkers had convinced him to get in the 'island spirit' and ordered something with dragonfruit in it, although he would have been happy with two fingers of quality whiskey. It came in a novelty coconut mug, so there was that at least.
The entertainment started and the stage was filled with grass skirt-clad women, some choice words from other patrons to describe them were: 'buxom', 'beautifully bronze', and 'would tap that'. And if he was to be completely honest, he agreed. Given the opportunity, he probably would go for someone as beautiful as the dancers were. But there was something about one of the dancers as the show went on. He saw that one woman was giving dirty looks towards one of the fire spinners, he didn't quite know what they were called but it was succinct enough to describe their role in the show. Jeremy could tell that there was something between the two, something that ended quite recently and there was still some bad blood. It appeared that the man that she was giving looks at was completely unaware of these looks, probably for the best considering he was wearing a grass skirt, something of which happens to be flammable.
The fire twirling demonstration continued and ended with rounds of applause from the venue's patrons. The dancers took the stage once more and continued with a new dance. He didn't know if it was the liquor or the women themselves, but their movements were borderline hypnotic. Once more the performance ended with a round of applause. It was at that moment when he caught himself staring at the woman previously giving dirty looks towards what was assumedly her ex.
The touristy luau ended and everyone went their separate ways. All except Jeremy and his coworkers, they continued the night in a bar closer to the beach. Things sort of blew on by as coworkers ripped on each other and plotted on how to haze the new guy. Eventually, they all left leaving Jeremy at the bar by himself. He sat looking out the window that was behind the bar at the barely visible seashore. Time sort of passed by without any real feeling of passing until he heard a sigh to his right. He glanced to his right and saw the woman that was in the touristy luau show sitting a seat away. She was nursing a beer of some variety, a lighter one if he were to take a guess based on the color.
"Rough night?" he asked.
"Yeah," she replied borderline disinterestedly.
"Wanna talk about it?" he offered.
"Not really."
"You sure? My old man used to say that sometimes talking to a stranger can give you perspective or insight you won't have yourself."
She stayed silent for a while and Jeremy took another drink. "My boyfriend… ex-boyfriend now, I guess, broke up with me today before work."
"That sucks." There wasn't much to say about it. "Were you together for a long time?"
"Yeah," she simply replied. "He couldn't take my crazy… family anymore." She paused on 'family' like she was attempting to find the right words for an unorthodox situation that wasn't easy to understand for those that weren't already in her social circle.
"They can't be that bad, right?" he asked.
She shrugged. "Not for me, I've gotten used to them over time. But to those that meet them, they're… eccentric to say the least. My aunt and uncle are… interesting people. My uncle is a scientist, I guess you could call him a biochemist. My aunt is a professor of hu-cultural studies." Jeremy caught that slip-up.
"They certainly sound like smart people."
"Smart, but eccentric. Their mannerisms aren't for everyone."
"I know the feeling; I got some family back home and they're pretty weird. Although, I have a feeling that someone your extended family tops mine."
She laughed before extending her hand, "I'm Nani."
"Jeremy," he introduced himself. "A pleasure to meet you, Nani."
"So, what brings you to the island, Jeremy?"
"That obvious?"
"The touristy Hawaiian shirt gave it away."
"Work brought me."
"What kind of work, mysterious tourist?" she teased flirtatiously.
"I work in IT, specifically telecommunications. The company back on the mainland wants to expand, and they figured, for whatever reason, that Kauai was a good starting point for expansion."
"Have something against us?" she feigned indignation.
"More so the three 'l's' of real estate."
"Location. Location. Location."
He pointed with his glass towards her, "Exactly. You'd figure they'd start in some small town and then expand from there. But, no. They decided to immediately jump to an island chain in the ocean with a much smaller market. Well, if they fail it's no skin off my back, got some money saved away in other stocks, and so on." He then gave her a slight side-eye, "And of course I get to enjoy the beautiful scenery."
"Are you trying to flirt with me?"
"Depends, is it working?"
"It might be. Buy a pretty girl a drink?"
Jeremy held up a pair of fingers to the bartender and another round came to them. "To new beginnings," Jeremy proposed a toast.
"To new beginnings," Nani parroted and the two tapped glasses together.
To be continued…?

This was on the shorter side for a couple of reasons. One, I'm not too good with dialogue in moving things along, although I am good at just talking to pass time. The second is that I'm not quite sure where I want to go with this without it becoming rushed, something that I don't want to do with a more character-focused story. So, this one is kind of cut off short. The second reason is that I ran out of ideas outside of rushing it. There's not much else I can say in this one so I'll just continue on with the next idea. See you all in whatever I decide to do next.
