Another idea. Don't have an opening for this that's witty or anything. I've been doing some speculation for the upcoming h-game Subverse. If you don't know what Subverse is, it's an R-18 game from Studio FOW, the ones behind many a porn parody all built-in Source engine before recently moving to Unreal 4, such as their Bioshock threesome. I am really hyped about this project, so much that when they had their Kickstarter I chipped in the amount for the full game, in British Pounds. In case you've forgotten, I'm American. I had to go through so much shit with my bank to make sure this went through, along with the fact of conversion rates. That how much I believe in this game. Also, per my pledge I will have my name, well a name that I chose, will be in the game's credits. That, and I like weird things, it keeps me interested. But anyway, enough about how I'm pretty much fellating a currently unreleased game as of yet (although so far, they've been keeping their goals so far).

One of the things we don't know about in the game's lore is the origin of The Captain, your playable character. The only thing that is known is that this is an indeterminate time after humans appeared in a far-off galaxy thanks to a black hole and the Captain is making a name for himself as a smuggler. Being that his bio, per their website, is as follows: "The Captain is an absolute madlad fuckin' unit of a good cunt that leaves a trail of smashed sheilas and tinnies in his wake. Bring him a smuggling contract and he'll put in the hard yakka guaranteed, legless or not. Give him a head to crack and he'll glass the cunt and shout you a coldie on the way out. Just in case you didn't notice, he's pretty Australian." That's it. So, considering this is supposed to be our player character, I decided that I can delve into some speculative fiction about what the Captain's history may be.

Summary: The Captain of the Mary Celeste speaks about his history before being the captain of the Mary Celeste.

Rating: T for now, unknown what it would be later if continued.

"Hey Cap," Fortune said as she looked up from her sofa bench in the Mary Celeste's bar. "You never told us where you came from."

"Really?" the Captain replied, chugging a beer somehow through his mask. "I thought I did. I would be an awful illegal ship captain on the run from the Senu Empire if I didn't tell you my tale."

There was a pause before Demi said, "Are you going to tell us?"

"Oh, right," he replied. He sat up in his chair and started to pose in a way that he was going to tell a long tale. "So, big secret out of the way, I'm from Earth."

"No shit, every human from Earth a few generations ago," Fortune snarked.

"No, I mean I was born on Earth, specifically Sydney, Australia." There was a long pause as they couldn't believe it. "What?"

"How are you still alive?" Lily asked, her mind racing to see if she could use the Captain's genetics to her experiments.

"Oh, don't you know how they transported prisoners to the Centauri prison?" They shook their heads. "They freeze them in cryogenic stasis. It's cheaper to freeze the cons rather than feed, clothe, and take care of waste and possible death by shanking, or just medical care in general. On Earth, they'd freeze you pods at a supermax prison, load you in a cheap cargo ship that got the contract, and ship you out like any other cargo."

"How do you know this, exactly?" Fortune asked.

"Easy, because I used to be on the outside. Once upon a time, I was in the military, specifically a wet navy captain. Commanded an advanced missile destroyer in the United Nations Navy."

"Wet navy? You?" Lily asked.

"Yeah, on Earth, despite having a black navy (a space-faring navy), they still needed a wet one to cruise for pirates on coasts. It was still cheaper to ship things along well known and trodden shipping lanes rather than send it into orbit and run it along with the Equator Ring complex of orbital elevators. We saw action a few times, my ship got a few Battle Stars and we all earned medals."

"So, if you were a decorated captain, how did you end up here in the Prodigium galaxy?" Fortune asked.

"Well, that's sort of a longer story. The short version of it was that I slept with an Admiral's wife, smoking hot by the way; gave great head and was a wild one because her husband wouldn't give it to her the way she wanted. He caught us, court marshaled, and got me discharged dishonorably. Now, he couldn't throw me in prison for it because I technically didn't do anything illegal nor was it while I was on duty, but it was an offense that would get me court marshaled. Still got to keep my medals at the behest of the wife, just couldn't wear them on the uniform, could only display them in a case."

"What happened next?" Demi asked.

"Well, I started doing what I did on the ground, but in space. I used my life savings and investments to buy a small cargo ship that could be manned by a single person. Essentially, it was a fighter with cargo space. I started to do cargo runs to the solar system's colonies. I loved Titan, especially when it finally got an atmosphere. Basically, a new Venice; well, there was also a city called New Venice as well but that's not related. I did this for a few years before I started to run more illegal stuff through one of my contacts. Eventually, it did catch up with me. I got caught by a black navy ship who interdicted my route." He held up a finger to emphasize the following. "Now, this route was not one that many knew of. It was a smuggling route used by a small number of smugglers, mainly arms smugglers, who used a specific group of moons in Saturn's gravity well as a waypoint in their route. Only a dozen people knew this."

"Someone betrayed you," Lily stated.

The Captain pointed to Lily. "Precisely. Turns out the buddy that hired me to do the job? Sold me out to get out of a much more severe sentence. Turns out that I got that much more severe sentence."

"Which was?"

"One hundred years in the Centauri correctional facility."

"I thought humans only lived until one hundred and fifty years of age," Demi observed.

"Normally, yes. But they found a way to extend the human lifespan above the expected life span. The reason why they would use such a valuable resource on a con? So that they could suffer and serve their full sentence." He sat back and lounged. "Your tax dollars at work."

"Wait, that happened a thousand years ago. How are you still as young as you appear to be?" Fortune asked.

"Well, I sort of explained it earlier. Cryostasis. You see, the stasis pods were all connected to the reactor's power supply, but they all had backup units powered by small fusion reactors that would only kick in after the main supply was cut off and would last about five hundred years. When the ship went through the black hole, the crew (which was only about ten strong) drifted for years before they all died when their supplies ran out. The ship drifted for about a hundred years before the Empire found us and allowed us to settle the class M planet, we found ourselves around."

"Wait, that doesn't explain what happened with you though. How did you live this long?"

"Again, cryostasis. My pod got ejected at some point. There was a failsafe built into the transport that would jettison pods in an 'abandon ship' protocol. It turns out mine had malfunctioned and jettisoned me around the moon of our dear new homeworld for the next two hundred years. I was only thawed out about five years ago. It would be an understatement that I was surprised at what happened."

"And then you found me," Demi concluded.

"Indeed, you fuckable android, you," the Captain replied. "Then the Mary Celeste per some wonky data you captured, and then you, my crew."

"I've only heard rumors about Earth," Fortune changed the subject. "Tell us more about it?"

"Sure, I can't see why not." He flagged the bartender for another beer.

The end?

That's all I have for this one. As previously said at the top here, this is a speculative and plausible origin story of the titular Captain. Now, as previously stated, we know nothing about the Captain, where he came from, or anything about him what-so-ever. We don't know how much time has passed since the prison ship headed for the Centauri prison facility arrived in the Prodigium galaxy, or if they were found right away or if they drifted for some time, or who the people that found them were and allowed them to settle on their own planet. There's a lot of unknowns so I'm left with some extremely creative liberties to work with, which is unfortunately not much.

So, until the game comes out or unless Studio FOW comes out and states this specific information (which I would expect to be in the game) we're left with some extreme speculation. Again, I am really excited about this game and am looking forward to it. When the game comes out, I may consider doing a "let's write" on the game's plot, but I don't know at this time.

Well, anyway, let me know what you think about this speculative idea. You know where to leave your thoughts. See you in whatever I decide to write next.
