Part 12

Caitlin walked into the exam room to find a seven year old boy with sandy blond hair and his mother.

"Hi I'm Caitlin Snow. I am one of the physician assistants here at the hospital." Said Caitlin

"I'm Martha Franklin and this is my son Sam. He hasn't been feeling well for a couple of days. He is complaining of stomach pain."

"Sam which part of your tummy hurts?" asked Caitlin

Sam pointed at the right side.

"Let me take a look." Said Caitlin

Caitlin put on a pair of examination gloves and carefully pressed on the right side of the boy's abdomen. He cried out in pain. After double checking his vitals on his chart she made a note. She then turned to the boy's mother.

"Ms. Franklin, Sam has appendicitis. He needs surgery immediately." said Caitlin

"Yes of course. My sister had appendicitis when she was a kid."

"I asked the nurse to get transport to take Sam here up to the operating room."

"Thank you Ms. Snow."

Caitlin finished signing off on the chart and left the room.

"So how is your patient?" asked Henry

"I am sending him up to the OR. He has appendicitis."

"Good thing you caught it in time."

"Yeah."

"So how is your day going Caitlin?"

"Pretty good. Ran into Cisco at Jitters on my way in."

"He and Barry still hang out sometimes."

"Yeah I know. I am going to have to get a car. It will be easier with getting Crystal to school."

"If you need someone to cosign for the car loan you just need to ask."

"I will think about it."

"Caitlin don't be ashamed to ask for help if you need it."

"I just don't want to lead Richard here. He will come after me."

"Well he is going to have to deal with a hell of a lot of people that love you."

"Thank you Henry, and I will take the help in getting a car. Maybe not a brand new one. But a gently used one that is only a couple years old."

"As long as it is safe for that granddaughter of mine."

"Wouldn't have it any other way."

Barry walked into Captain Singh's office to find Eddie, Joe and Patty waiting for him.

"Close the door Allen." Said Singh

"What is going on?" asked Barry

"I was in Jitters earlier. A guy came in asking about Caitlin and Crystal. Of course no one working there would admit knowing who Caitlin was. But Iris talked to him. After he left I talked to Courtney Banks. She told me it was Richard Carson." Said Eddie

"You think that Iris is going to help him get to Cait?" asked Barry

"I wouldn't put it pass her. As much as I love my daughter, for some damn reason she hates Caitlin. I didn't raise her to be like that." Said Joe

"Unfortunately right now we can't do anything. Asking questions about someone is not a crime. But Joe or Eddie if you happen to run into this creep bring him in. He is suppose to be chained to his desk while under investigation. So he is in violation of orders." Said Singh

"What do you want me to do Captain?" asked Patty

"Help keep an eye on Ms. Snow. I don't think that I have to tell you to do the same Allen." Said Singh

"No of course not." Said Barry

"Barry, I want you to promise me you will not go after this guy alone." Said Joe

"I promise. But only because Cait and Crystal need me. I am going to have to tell Cait that Carson is here looking for her." Said Barry

"We just have to hope she doesn't run again." Said Eddie

"I won't let her. I lost her once. I will not lose her again." Said Barry

Caitlin followed Henry into his house after work. She smiled seeing Crystal curled up with Nora watching a musical on tv. She remembered how much Barry loved to watch musicals. She knew that he would watch them with his mom. Caitlin never had that kind of relationship with her own mother. Her brother Charlie would make her watch horror movies with him when their mom worked late. She was nine when she saw the first Halloween movie. She had nightmares for a month thinking Michael Myers was going to come and get her.

"Hey honey." Said Caitlin

"Mommy! Grandma and I are watching Singing in the Rain. She said daddy likes it." Said Crystal

"He does. It is not one of my favorites. But I have seen it a few times." Said Caitlin

"How was your day Caitlin?" asked Nora

"Busy. Only one case that was serious. Little boy with appendicitis. Other than that nothing worse then a broken leg. A couple of bee stings. An ear infection and a cut that needed stitches."

"Nora, I saw the stitches she did. The young woman won't have much of a scar." Said Henry

Caitlin blushed feeling embarrassed by the praise she was getting.

"Henry, can't you see you are embarrassing Caitlin?" asked Nora

"Well I think she deserves the praise. I have seen plastic surgeons that have left bigger scars then she will." Said Henry

"Barry called he is on his way with Joe, Eddie and Patty." Said Nora

"Are they staying for dinner?" asked Henry

"Yes. They have something to tell us. They are bringing pizza and salad."

"Sounds good." Said Henry

Caitlin had a very bad feeling. It had been nearly two months since she had run from the abusive cop. She knew it was only a matter of time before he found her. The fact that Barry was coming with two cops was not a good sign. Nora looked at Caitlin and could see that she looked scared. She got up and pulled the young woman into her arms.

"Caitlin, if he has found you it is going to be ok. You have lot of people that will protect you." Said Nora

"I know. But it doesn't stop me from being scared. He really fooled me. It wasn't until after Crystal and I moved in with him that the abuse started. He told me that if I left him that he would come after me. It is part of the reason I left my cell phone behind and used the burn phone. It is also why I cancelled all my credit cards and used cash to pay for things as much as possible."

"He most likely used his resources as a police officer to find you. Looking at security tapes at the train station." Said Nora

"Most likely. But I am not leaving Central City. I have friends and family here."

"You got that right Cait." Said Barry walking in.

Joe, Patty and Eddie followed. Everyone sat down to dinner before they would talk about what was going on.
