His eyes were blue.
It was vaguely surprising to her because she remembered him saying he'd thought they were green, or maybe brown. She guessed it was understandable, since nobody ever really knew the sight of their own face, and he didn't have many pictures from before he manifested. Not that they would have helped – his eyes always turned up red in photos anyway. Any other time, she might have wondered if it was an early side effect of his powers.
She'd always thought it would be some great occasion when the visor came off for the last time. She'd thought it would be a celebration of love and life and happiness. She'd thought of what it would be like, to finally be able to see her love reflected back at her from those green – no, blue – eyes.
They only stared endlessly – glassy and cold.
Dead eyes couldn't show emotion.
