Part 29

Caitlin groaned as she woke up. She looked to each side of her bed to find the two most important men in her life on either side of her. Her brother who was texting with someone and Barry who was dozing in the hard chair. She reached up to pull the oxygen tube from her nose when her brother looked at her.

"Caitlin Danielle Snow don't you dare take that oxygen off until a doctor tells you can." Said Charlie

"Charlie, I am fine. You can go home to your family." Said Caitlin

"Erin told me to stay with you. She would have come too. But she had to stay with the kids. Mom will be here soon."

"Yeah sure. Mom, has never been there when I needed her."

"Well I hope that it is not too late to change that Caitlin." Said Carla walking into the room.

"Mom, I wasn't expecting you to get here this fast." Said Charlie

"Well when the heir to Farris Air offers to get you where you need to be you take it. Caitlin, are you ok?" said Carla

"I will be. But I don't think that I will be going anywhere for a couple days." Said Caitlin

Barry woke then and smiled when he saw Caitlin awake.

"How you feeling Cait?" asked Barry

"Like I nearly died." Said Caitlin

"From what I heard you might have. But Jessica Lewis gave you your epi pen in time." Said Barry

"I guess I should thank her when I see her."

"She actually wants to apologize to you for being such a bitch to you." Said Charlie

"Jessica, was more of a follower and wasn't as bad as Iris or Cassie." Said Caitlin

"I am going to let them know you are awake. Then you can find out how long they are keeping you here." Said Charlie

Charlie got up and left the room after kissing his sister's cheek. Carla took the seat that her son had just left.

"Barry if you are here then who has our daughter?" asked Caitlin

"My mom. She was going to pick up Crystal and take her back to our house so that she could look after Snowbarry too." Said Barry

"Who or what is Snowbarry?" asked Carla

"Our dog. He is really cute. A white husky mixed with a yellow Labrador." Said Caitlin

"You always wanted a dog." Said Carla

"And you never let me have one. If you had maybe I wouldn't have felt so unloved after we dad lost dad." Said Caitlin

"I never meant to make you feel unloved. Caitlin, I blamed myself for not protecting you from what your father did to you." Said Carla

"What is she talking about Cait?" asked Barry

"Barry, I will explain later. I promise. I just don't want to get into it here." Said Caitlin

"Sure. But I am not going to let you out of this." Said Barry

"I know you won't." said Caitlin

Just then Charlie walked back in with Henry.

"So sleeping beauty really is awake." Said Henry

"So doc when can I get out of here? Or at least take off this annoying oxygen." Asked Caitlin

"I am keeping you a couple days. Caitlin, you nearly stopped breathing. So at least until tomorrow morning you are staying on oxygen. Though I will let you take it off to go to the bathroom. But you are to put it back on when you get back into bed." Said Henry

"I don't need to be on oxygen Henry." Said Caitlin

"Caitlin your blood oxygen level is only 89% I will not take you off oxygen until you are over 95%." Said Henry

"Fine. If I have to stay please can my mom or Barry or anyone bring me real coffee in the morning? I can't take the crap the cafeteria tries to pass off as coffee."

"Yeah that is fine. I don't like that crap either." Said Henry

"I guess I will be doing a Jitters run in the morning then. Besides Courtney will probably want to know how you are doing." Said Barry

"Yeah. Barry I guess we have to postpone our date for tomorrow then." Said Caitlin

"That is fine. I just want you to be ok." Said Barry

"Barry, I want you to go home tonight. Make sure Crystal knows that I am going to be ok." Said Caitlin

"I don't want you to be alone."

"Barry, Caitlin won't be alone. I won't be leaving until my daughter is released. She was to young to remember when she had her first allergic reaction to peanuts. She was three. I never left her side then and I won't now. I have a lot to make up for as a mother and I am going to start now." Said Carla

"Mom, you don't have to stay. You and Charlie can both go home." Said Caitlin

"I agree your brother should go home to his wife and children. But I am not going anywhere. You maybe grown up with your own child. But I am still your mother and you will not kick me out. Don't even think of asking one of those gentlemen you use to tutor to escort me out. I will just call their mothers." Said Carla

Henry just smiled. He could see where Caitlin got her stubborn streak from. He could also see that Caitlin was defeated. Just then there was a knock on the door. Everyone turned to see Eddie standing there with a couple of pizzas and Joe holding a large bottle of the sweet tea that Caitlin liked.

"We got a call that someone might like this better then whatever they are serving in this place." Said Eddie

Caitlin smiled when she saw that the pizza was from Luigi's her favorite Italian restaurant in the city.

"After we eat everyone but mom is to go home. Mom only gets to stay because she won't leave no matter what apparently." Said Caitlin

Eddie put down the pizzas. Joe pulled paper plates and cups from a bag he was carrying. After everyone ate Eddie, Joe and Henry headed out. Charlie left soon after leaving just Barry and Carla with Caitlin.

"Barry go home." Said Caitlin

"Are you sure you don't want me to stay?" asked Barry

"Richard is not going to get past my bodyguard out there."

"Ok."

Barry leaned down and gave Caitlin a gentle kiss. Carla couldn't help but notice the smile on her daughter's face after Barry pulled away. Barry walked out of the room and headed for home.
