Note: The title from the poem comes from one of my two favourite Angel episodes, which in turn took it from the House UnAmerican Committee hearings of 1947 / 1951, which of course included Senator McCarthy. The full question posed was: "Are you now, or have you ever been a communist?" Yet again, this is one of my more surreal poems; but I kinda like them!
ARE YOU NOW, OR HAVE YOU EVER BEEN..?

a prince of the blood,
my knight, locked deep within shining armour
are you now, or have you ever been..?
it's cold indoors, yet warm
outside; sun blazing red
and yellow as the flower before me
you never say those words
it's subtle; implied
and yet, for me, not good enough
your heart still beats, as the rest of the world's does
you ask me to stop,
and still i refuse
a thousand years may pass,
and my answer will remain the same,
so all I can do, is beg you to answer
are you now, or have you ever been..?
