Part 47

Barry looked at the spandex suit Cisco handed him.

"I am not wearing that Cisco." Said Barry

"Barry, come on it is the best I could come up with in the time I had." Said Cisco

"Why can't I just run in shorts and a t-shirt like I have been doing?"

"Because Barry, you are like me. Until we make you a frictionless suit you risk burning your clothes off. While I am sure your lovely girlfriend wouldn't mind seeing you without clothes the rest of us would rather not." Said Jay walking in.

"Ok I get that. But that sure doesn't look like it will fit me. It looks rather tight in a few places." Said Barry

"Go change honey. Joan and I are almost done getting the sensors ready." Said Caitlin

Barry grabbed the suit from Cisco and went to change.

"So how are you feeling Caitlin?" asked Joan

"Tired. But I did sleep better last night then I have in a while." Said Caitlin

"My nephew have something to do with it?"

"Maybe a little. He makes me feel safe. Something I never felt during the years I was gone."

"Caitlin, you have nothing to be ashamed of. Everyone makes mistakes. When Jay first got his powers he pushed me away trying to protect me. But I didn't give up on him. He came around and we have been together ever since."

"Barry isn't going to push me away. I was the one that ran instead of fighting for our relationship. I'm just grateful that he has forgiven me. Not just for running but keeping his daughter from him."

"He loves you. I can't tell you how unhappy he was when you were gone."

"I would have taken him back if he had come after me."

"Well when it comes to women, men aren't as smart as they think they are."

"I know. I am just glad that I never have to worry about Richard Carson coming back and trying to take my son from me."

"You do know that none of us would have let that happen."

"I know."

Joan reached over and hugged Caitlin as Barry walked back out of the trailer. They had moved to the old Farris Air landing strip just outside of the city. They wanted to see how Barry did on a surface other than the treadmill. Caitlin couldn't hide her smile as she looked at Barry dressed in a bright red singlet much like the kind wrestlers wear. Though it was a bit tight in the groin area. Not that she minded. Though she could tell that Barry was not happy about it.

"Yeah Cisco it is defiantly a bit tight." Said Barry

"Dude stop complaining. Besides I think Caitlin is enjoying the view." Said Cisco

Barry turned to look at the woman he loved. She was looking at him in a way she hadn't ever. He raised an eyebrow. Caitlin just smirked.

"What I have no shame. Barry, I love you and you look hot in that suit." Said Caitlin

"I don't recall you looking at me quite that way before. Not that I mind."

"Ok kid enough flirting with your girlfriend. Caitlin are the sensors calibrated?" said Jay

"Uh just about." Said Caitlin

Caitlin picked her tablet and began taping the sensors on Barry's suit.

"Ok we are ready." Said Caitlin

"Barry, Caitlin is going to monitor your vitals while you run down the runway as fast as you can. Joan is going to monitor your speed output. Any questions?" said Jay

"Um what about you and Cisco?" asked Barry

"Cisco is going to use drones to record everything and I am going to run beside you to make sure you stay focused. Last thing you want is to crash going hundreds of miles an hour. Take it from someone who has."

"Barry promise me you will be careful. Try not to break anything." Said Caitlin

"I will do my best."

Barry leaned over and kissed Caitlin which she returned fully.

"Will you two knock it off! I told you no PDAs in front of me when we are working!" said Cisco

Caitlin rolled her eyes as they turned a frosty blue and sent a light ice blast at him. Barry chuckled at Cisco's reaction. But he loved to see the playful look in the eyes of the woman he loved. After Barry and Caitlin broke their embrace everyone moved into their position. Joan stopped by Jay's side and whispered in his ear.

"Think by this time next year we will be hearing some long over due wedding bells?" asked Joan

"I would count on it." Said Jay

When he was given the go Barry took off down the runway. Jay watching closely. He turned to Joan and met her eyes.

"He just past 500 miles an hour. That is twice as fast as you were at this stage." Said Joan

"Well that is to be expected. How are his vitals?" asked Jay

"Everything looks normal. I mean for a speedster. They are all in the same range yours are when you run Jay. Actually I think they might be a bit better." Said Caitlin

"Well he is a few years younger than I was when I got my powers. I think he has a more pure connection to the speed force." Said Jay

"Speed force?" asked Cisco

"The source of all speedsters powers. It is what causes the lighting you see when a speedster runs." Said Jay

"Barry just hit 700 miles an hour." Said Joan

Jay walked over to the com system and pressed the button.

"Ok Barry that is good. Come on back here." Said Jay

Barry appeared in front of them. Stopping just short of crashing into the table with all the equipment on it.

"So what is the news?" asked Barry

"Well you are much faster than I was at this stage. With the proper training I think you will be one of the fastest speedsters in the multiverse." Said Jay

"Jay are you saying that the multiverse is real?" asked Cisco

"Very real. In fact I have been to another Earth. It was much like this one. But there are some differences too."

"You so need to tell me about it some time." Said Cisco

"Not going to happen kid. No since talking about a world you most likely will never see."

"We should head back to the lab. Besides Barry needs to eat. Based on what Jay has told us he needs a lot of calories." Said Caitlin

"Caitlin is right pack it up and Joan and I will go get some food." Said Jay

Jay and Joan left while Cisco, Barry and Caitlin packed everything up. Well it was mostly Barry and Cisco seeing Barry was not going to let Caitlin do any heavy lifting.
