Part 49
Six Weeks later
Caitlin woke with a groan. It seemed that Kris was becoming more and more active every day. But that was to be expected with him being due in two weeks. Barry was sleeping next to her with his hands resting over her baby bump. She was glad that her baby boy would have such a great guy like Barry as his daddy. Caitlin very gently moved out of Barry's arms and made her way to the bathroom. She just got there as her water broke.
"Barry! Barry! Wake up!" yelled Caitlin
"Cait are you ok?" asked Barry
"My water just broke. I need to go to the hospital."
Barry went wide eyed then took off at super speed only to return with his bed rattled mother.
"What in the world Barry?" asked Nora
"Sorry mom. Got to take Cait to the hospital. She is about to have the baby." Said Barry
"Go. Remember what Jay said. No super speeding Caitlin there." Said Nora
"Right. Come on Cait." Said Barry
Caitlin and Barry headed out to the car and Nora called Joan to bring her some clothes seeing as Henry was at work.
Henry was drinking a cup of coffee by the desk in the ER when Barry and Caitlin came in ten minutes after leaving their house. He put it down when he saw them. Taking one look he could see that she was in labor.
"Beth get exam room two ready. Ms. Snow is not going to make upstairs to delivery." Yelled Henry
Henry was glad to see that Barry had gotten Caitlin into a wheelchair on the way in.
"Caitlin how far apart are the contractions?" asked Henry
"Four and a half minutes." Said Caitlin
"Well honey we need to get you ready. Unfortunately I will have to deliver this baby. But better here in the ER then possibly in the elevator right?"
"Yeah. Guess it is probably to late for an epidural huh?" asked Caitlin
"Yeah." Said Henry
They entered the exam room and Barry helped Caitlin up onto the table. The nurse Beth handed Barry a set of scrubs and pointed at the curtain area of the room. Barry nodded and went to change. Henry and Beth hooked up a fetal heart monitor to Caitlin and did a quick ultrasound to make sure the baby was in the right position for the birth. Barry stepped out and looked at Caitlin who's eyes flashed a glowing blue for a second before returning to their normal brown.
"Beth, I should have warned you. Caitlin is a meta. It is not something she wants out." Said Henry
"I would never say anything." Said Beth with a smile.
"Well the good news is the baby is in the right position and you are fully dilated." Said Henry
"Contractions are less the a minute apart." Said Beth
"Ok Caitlin you know what that means. Push on the next one." Said Henry
Caitlin nodded. Barry moved to her side to support her and hold her hand. Ten minutes later Kristopher Charles Allen was born. He weighed in at 8 pounds 7 ounces, 19 inches long. Barry had the honor of cutting the umbilical cord. Henry couldn't help but smile at his son and the woman who he would bet anything was going to be his daughter in law before long. He pulled out his phone and snapped a photo of the two with their son.
"They are ready to move Ms. Snow upstairs Doctor." Said Beth
"Ok. Barry, Caitlin they are going to take you upstairs now." Said Henry
Barry nodded and grabbed their things while the woman from transport began pushing her to the elevator. When they came out of the elevator they saw Ronnie coming out of one of the rooms. He smiled when saw them.
"Barry, Caitlin how you guys doing?" asked Ronnie
"Well I just gave birth to a baby. Other then that pretty good." Said Caitlin
"Yeah Erin told me. Caroline just had our first child. A girl. Looks just like her mom. Which I think is a good thing." Said Ronnie
"Well meet Kristopher Charles Allen. My mom is going to bring Crystal by later to meet her brother." Said Barry
"Looks like he is going to get his looks from you Cait. Which I think is a good thing. Carson was not the best looking guy. Don't know what you saw in him." Said Ronnie
"I don't know either. But this little guy is going to have the best daddy in Barry." Said Caitlin
"Who knows maybe my nephew will fall in love with Amber." Said Charlie joining them.
"Hey Charlie my daughter is never aloud to date!" said Ronnie
Caitlin laughed. She remembered the trouble that her brother and Ronnie use to get into together a long with Eddie. She hoped that both her kids will have friendships like that.
"Charlie we should let your sister get settled into her room. I got to go get Caroline some orange juice." Said Ronnie
"Yeah what room you in? Erin will want to meet this little guy." Said Charlie
"321." Said the woman from transport.
"Right across the hall from Caroline that is cool." Said Ronnie
"Let's let Cait get some rest." Said Barry
Caitlin was moved into her room and Barry took a seat next to her bed.
Carla walked into the waiting room of the hospital to find Charlie and Erin as well as Nora, Henry and Crystal.
"How is Caitlin?" asked Carla
"Fine. Just resting Carla. The baby is fine too." Said Henry
"That is good. Crystal's birth was a little rough wasn't it Charlie?" said Carla
"Yeah. Mostly just long. Labor was nearly 48 hours." Said Charlie
"Well this one was really quick. Probably less then an hour." Said Barry joining them.
"That is fast. If I didn't know better I would think this kid was a speedster." Said Charlie
"Well it is possible. I mean Caitlin was exposed to the dark matter released by the particle accelerator explosion. Just because neither of his biological parents is a speedster doesn't mean he can't be." Said Carla
"Mom, have there been any sighting of dad since he escaped?" asked Charlie
"No. But if he is working with Harrison Wells they could be hold up in Star Labs. But seeing as your father is officially listed as being dead there is nothing they can do. Plus they have no reason to search Star Labs." Said Carla
"Mom, you know that he will come after Caitlin. That he will try and turn her against everyone that loves her." Said Charlie
"That won't happen. I will not let him hurt Cait ever again." Said Barry
Everyone looked at Barry seeing lightning dancing in his eyes.
