Part 53

It had been seven months since Kris was born. Barry had convinced Caitlin that she needed a break. A night out just the two of them. He came out of their bedroom and walked into the nursery to find Caitlin dressed for their night out while holding Kris. Her mom was trying to get Caitlin to hand the baby over.

"Caitlin, Kris is going to be fine. I did raise you and your brother." Said Carla

"I know. I just don't like being away from him or even Crystal." Said Caitlin

"Honey, you need a night off. Barry has a special night planned for the two of you." Said Carla

"You know something. Mother what are you hiding?" asked Caitlin

"Cait, your mom is only keeping a secret that I asked her to keep." Said Barry

"So you are the one that is up to something. I should have known. Mom, remember do not let Crystal talk you into letting her have ice cream after eight. She won't go to sleep at her bedtime if she does." Said Caitlin

"Of course honey. You just go out and have a good time." Said Carla

Caitlin kissed her son and handed him over to her mom. Then both her and Barry said goodbye to Crystal who was watching a movie. They walked out to the car and Barry helped her in. Caitlin smiled at Barry when he settled behind the wheel.

"I almost forgot what it was like to be in a relationship with a gentleman." Said Caitlin

"Cait, I won't even begin to try and understand why you got into a relationship with that jerk." Said Barry

"Yeah I am not sure any more why I did. I never loved him. You are the only one I have ever loved. The only one I still love."

Barry only smiled as he parked the car at the restaurant he had chosen. Barry got out of the car and went around to open the door for Caitlin. She took his offered hand and let him help her out of the car. They walked in together. Barry spoke to the hostess and they were shown to their table a short time later. Barry pulled out Caitlin's chair which she sat on letting him push her in. He took his seat across from her.

"Two glasses of your house red." Said Barry

The hostess nodded and went off.

"Barry, you know I am still nursing." Said Caitlin

"I checked. One glass of wine will be fine. Besides tonight is special. But the reason is a surprise."

"You know I am not a big fan of surprises."

"Trust me you will like this one."

"I do trust you Barry. You are one of the few people I do trust."

"Right. I keep forgetting you have always had trust issues."

"Barry, I really wish I didn't. But too many people I have trusted ended up hurting me. You and Charlie are two people that I know will never hurt me intentionally. Cisco while I love him like another brother he doesn't always think before he speaks. So some of his comments at times have hurt. But that is not fully his fault. As you know I can take things too seriously at times."

"You mean you have a tendency to be uptight."

"I hate when you put it that way."

"But you know that is one of the many things I love about you."

"I love you too."

The waiter brought their wine and took their orders. It wasn't long before their salads arrived. They spent most of the meal in silence just enjoying each others company. It had been too long since they had a night just the two of them.

"Cait, how is your roast beef?" asked Barry

"Very good. How is your New York strip steak?"

"Cooked just the way I like it. You know how some places cook medium rare more than others. But this is just perfect."

"That is good."

"Would you like a taste? I seem to remember we both like our steak just about the same way."

"I would love a taste."

Barry already knowing that had cut a perfect bite for Caitlin. He reach his fork across the table which Caitlin lean over to meet letting him feed her. She took it from his fork and started to chew. She let out a soft moan as the steak melted in her mouth.

"That is really good. Next time I might have to get the rib eye. Because we both know I could never finish that huge steak your eating." Said Caitlin

"You know, you could always get it and I would finish anything you can't."

"That is true. Barry this is really nice. Thank you for tonight."

"You are welcome. But I do have another reason for us coming out tonight. Not just wanting you to take the night off. But you will need to wait a bit longer to find that out."

"I better like whatever you are planning or you might end up back in your basement room for the night."

"You would only be punishing yourself. You know since Frost woke up you get cold at night. You like having a warm body to cuddle with."

"I am sure that I could find another way to stay warm."

"I don't think you can."

Caitlin just rolled her eyes. They finished their dinner and Caitlin excused herself to go to the ladies room and to call her mom to check on the kids. While she was gone Barry ordered a large slice of strawberry cheesecake. When Caitlin returned she raised an eyebrow but said nothing.

"I thought that we could share desert." Said Barry

"That sounds perfect. But I am only going to be able to eat a few bites."

"That is why we are going to share. You forget how well I know you Cait."

They ate their desert Barry eating most of it of course until there was only one bite left.

"The last bite is yours Cait." Said Barry

Caitlin raised her eyebrow but said nothing. She was surprised when her fork hit something hard rather then the soft cheesecake. Then she noticed the light reflecting off something shiny. She used her fork to move the object into a napkin and wiped the remains of the desert from it. Her eyes went wide at seeing a diamond ring. Barry without her noticing had moved so that he was on one knee next to her. He gently took the ring from her and held it up.

"Caitlin Danielle Snow will you make me the happiest man alive and agree to marry me?" asked Barry

Caitlin blinked away tears nodded and placed a passionate kiss on his lips.

"Yes! Yes Barry! I will marry you!" said Caitlin wrapping her arms around him.

They only broke when they heard the other diners and the staff clapping.

"Ready to go home and celebrate?" asked Barry

"Yes."

Barry singled for the check only for the waiter to bring him a note. Barry read the note showed it to Caitlin. They both looked over to where the waiter pointed them to see Gotham City's most eligible billionaire bachelor Bruce Wayne and a twenty something woman with bright red hair. They both made their way over to them. It was only then Caitlin recognized the woman as Barbara Gordon who she had met at her brother's wedding. She had been the date of a guy Charlie had become friends with in college.

"Congratulations Mr. Allen and Ms. Snow." Said Bruce

"Thank you Mr. Wayne. But you didn't need to pay for our dinner." Said Barry

"True but there is some business that my colleague Ms. Gordon and I need to discuss with you. I will contact you in the morning about a time and place to meet." Said Bruce

"It is nice to see you again Caitlin. It is really nice to see you happy." Said Barbara

"Thank you Barbara. I heard what happened. You know my mom might have some ideas that might help you." Said Caitlin

"We can talk about that later. You go and enjoy your engagement. Bruce will be in touch." Said Barbara

Barry and Caitlin headed out and headed home.

"So you really want to get them to join this team you are forming?" asked Barbara

"Barbara, you and I both know that they are going to need help to defeat Icicle and the Reverse Flash. Barry's uncle is getting to old to be going out there with them. His speed healing isn't what it use to be." Said Bruce

"True. But do you think they will really join? I mean you know what happened when you tried to get Oliver Queen to join."

"You don't need to remind me. I just barely got out of the way of that arrow."

"By the way I think Barry and Caitlin thought we were on a date."

"True, but you know I don't feel that way about you. Besides you are still getting over Dick."

"I am surprised that you didn't beat the crap out of him for cheating on me."

"Well I may need his help in the future."

"I know."
