Prompto started to shift, groaning slightly as he stretched his body. "Hnnn..." his eyes fluttered open slowly. "Noct?"

"Five more minutes." Noctis murmured as he buried his face into the pillow.

"Whatever you say," Prompto replied gently.

The talking and movement in bed made Noctis peel an eye open, which is when he noticed where he was. "This isn't the Citadel," he said softly.

"Yeah. Don't you remember? You warped all the way over here."

"Yeah, I do now. Is it already morning? Cause Dad might kill me."

"I won't let him. He can't just do that," Prompto whispered. "Right?"

"I don't think so, but I am going to be in so much trouble. Maybe I should just... try and sneak back inside?"

"But I wouldn't be able to come with you right?" Prompto asked, starting to frown.

"If I did that, no. Are you ready to witness Dad when he's pissed?"

"N-No... but you shouldn't deal with that alone," Prompto said as he brushed parts of Noctis's hair back.

The touch made Noctis smile. "Thanks. Let's get dressed, then... face the music."

"But you don't have extra clothes over here."

"Then I guess I just have to wear some of yours."

Prompto's cheeks reddened. "And that's okay?"

Noctis looked at Prompto carefully. "Why not? Unless you've got a problem with it?"

"No! Not at all, just didn't expect it."

Noctis shrugged at that. "It's no big deal. I'll look for something to wear, if you want the bathroom first."

Prompto nodded. "Alright. Can do!"

Noctis rolled out of bed to start digging through the closet to pick out some joggers and a tee shirt to put on while he waited for Prompto. He jumped some when the door opened, only to see Gladio peak his head into the room.

"Oh good, you're awake finally. I can text Dad now," the Shield replied and pulled out his phone to send a quick message.

"Don't scare me like that," Noctis grumbled.

"Sorry 'bout that. Come downstairs when you're ready. Breakfast is ready," Gladio replied before slipping out of the room.

"Prom, we've been found out," Noctis called once he knew they were alone.

"What? Found out? In the house I'm now living in?" Prompto joked lightly.

Noctis huffed a little laugh before throwing a pillow. "You're ridiculous."

Prompto laughed, catching the pillow. "Isn't that one of my signature traits?"

He smiled at that. "Yes, I suppose it is. One of the many reasons why I adore you."

Prompto blushed. "Thanks, Noct."

"Come on, apparently breakfast is ready already." Noctis said while he took his hand. "Guide me to the kitchen?"

"Sure," Prompto said, giving Noctis's hand a squeeze.

The two made their way downstairs to the kitchen where Iris and Gladio were setting up the plates for breakfast. "Good morning Prompto! Prince Noctis!" Iris said cheerfully.

"Hey there Iris. It's good to see you again." Noctis said with a little smile.

"As soon as you finish breakfast, you are headed back to the Citadel," Gladio explained as he put his phone into his pocket.

"Can I go with him?" Prompto asked nervously.

"Oh, you are expected to join him. Don't worry about that."

"So we can?"

"Yes, you can. You'll be together at the Citadel. I don't know what the plan is there, I'm just to make sure you get there," Gladio explained.

Prompto sighed thankfully as he took his seat with Noctis sitting next to him. "That sounds good then."

Noctis took Prompto's hand under the table to give it a little squeeze.

"Next time you come over, Prince Noctis, could we play? All of us could play a fun game together!" Iris asked.

"That sounds like a lot of fun. I would like that a lot," Noctis replied with a smile. "Did you take good care of Prompto yesterday?"

"Yeah we did! We played with Talcott and the chocobo plushies! It was a lot of fun!"

Nocits gave Prompto's hand a squeeze. "He let you play with his chocobos? Well, Prom, I see how I rank in this world," he teased gently.

"I didn't think you'd want to play with chocobo plushes," Prompto replied softly.

"I just know they're special to you," Noctis replied in the same soft voice.

"Well I got nothing against playing with them. If you want to make up random chocobo adventures, we can."

He smiled at that option. "I'll keep it in mind. Could be fun to wile away an afternoon."

"Chocobo adventures sounds like a great afternoon," Prompto said as he beamed happily.

"Then it's a plan. I'll come over and help you play with Iris and Talcott."

"That sounds like fun! And maybe even Gladdy will join us!" Iris exclaimed.

"Yeah Gladdy," Prompto chuckled. "You should play with us."

Noctis's eyes went wide when he realized what Prompto had called him. Gladio just laughed and shook his head. "Thanks for the offer, but I'm good for now. Chocobos weren't really my thing."

"Yeah cup noodles are your thing!" Iris giggled.

Gladio shook his head and reached out to ruffle Iris's hair in retaliation. "You think you're so clever." He was distracted by his phone pinging with a text. "Alright boys, don't dally too much, the car's will be here soon to take you to the Citadel."

Prompto out a little sigh before going to eat his food. He kept turning to look at Noctis, making sure that he was still there at every given moment.

Noct scowled a little bit into his food, but he didn't complain as he started to eat a bit faster. No need to prolong the inevitable. He did eventually notice Prompto looking over at him, and he tried to give him a little smile the next time their eyes met.

Prompto smiled back before he went to finish his food.

When all was done Gladio cleared his throat, he started moving towards the front door. "Okay, time to get moving."

"Alright, alright, we're going." Noctis replied, though his hand immediately to grab onto Prompto's as they went to greet the Citadel provider car and Ignis waiting by the doors, arms crossed.

"Good morning Highness, time to get you two back so we can continue your lessons," the Advisor said coolly.

Prompto sighed. "More lessons already? Can't we catch a break?"

"Ah, perhaps soon. But first, his Highness has a meeting with his father to deal with."

"I'm going to stick with him," Prompto stated rather confidently.

"Dude, you don't have to do that. I imagine Dad's not that pleased with me right now," Noctis replied, though he squeezed Prompto's hand tight.

"I already said I'm not leaving you to deal with that alone. Never again."

"Alright, thanks. I appreciate it."

The two got into the back of the car, with Prompto snuggling close to Noctis. "I'm ever at your side, remember?"

Noctis smiled at that, moving his hand so he could wrap his arm around Prompto instead. "Yeah, I remember that. Thank you."

Ignis sighed before he got into the car. "I hope you two know the consequences of this event. You both won't be able to do this whenever you feel."

"Why not? I got there safely and without anyone catching me on the way," Noctis argued softly.

"That's besides the point, Noct," Ignis sighed again.

"Then what is the point?"

"The point..." Ignis gripped the steering wheel. "Is to listen. We want to protect you, Noct. And we can't do that if you are sneaking out just to see Prompto. Your safety is our number one concern."

Noctis groaned softly at that. He looked out of the window to ignore the feelings churning in his gut.

Prompto leaned into Noctis, nuzzling his head into his shoulder. "It'll be okay," he whispered.

He looked over at Prom to give him a small smile. He stayed quiet through the rest of the ride to the Citadel, where they were immediately guided up to Noctis's room by Ignis.

"You two will stay here until further notice. I will inform the king that you are back," Ignis said before leaving the room.

Noctis went to the couch to flop into a deep slouch. "I suppose there's no reason to tempt more trouble."

Prompto followed, sitting right next to Noctis. He slumped his shoulders. "I'm sorry..."

"You don't need to apologize. I was stupid and reckless."

"But I should have said something... all I thought about was seeing you."

"That's all I could think about also. We were both- both a bit close minded last night. I'm happy to take the blame for it."

"I'll take some blame too. Share the blame!"

Noctis reached over to take Prompto's hand. "But you did nothing wrong. You don't need to do that."

"We're in this together. Always and forever!"

Those words managed to crack a little smile. "Yeah? Can I- I was thinking about you-"

Noctis was cut off by the door of the suite opening up to permit his father into the room, a frown on his face.

"Noct..." his father started. His eyes drifted to Prompto.

"Uh hello sir, I mean Regis!" Prompto replied quietly.

"Hey Dad," Noctis said, barely looking up at him.

"Hello Prompto. This is a discussion perhaps better suited for Noctis and I," Regis replied.

Prompto frowned, looking between Noctis and Regis. "But I, uh, I want to stay by Noctis's side."

Regis looked over at Prompto and gave him a nod. "If you are sure. I won't make you leave right now." He sat down in the chair across from the pair and leaned on his cane. "Noctis, do you know what I felt when I walked into your room to see it empty?"

Noctis flinched a little bit at that, finally looking up at Regis. "No, I don't know what you felt."

"I felt an utter state of fear," Regis stated soundly. "Fear that you had been taken again."

He immediately ducked his head at that. "I didn't- I didn't think about that," he muttered.

Prompto squeezed Noctis's hand gently, trying to keep him calm.

"I don't want to be mad, Noct," his father continued. "I'm not mad... I'm just a little hurt."

"I didn't mean to hurt you. I just, we couldn't sleep, and I knew how to fix it."

"But you didn't tell anyone."

Noctis looked to the side as he tried to keep his emotions in check. "I- I forgot that it wasn't just the two of us," he said softly.

"Yeah, we were just texting," Prompto replied. "We... We missed each other."

Regis held back a sigh at the words from the two boys. "Noctis, Prompto, I need you to understand, you aren't alone anymore. You can ask for help, no matter what time it is. You have a lot of people who are here for you."

"We'll try and remember," Prompto said, lowering his head.

"Yeah, we'll try to remember," Noctis added. "It's just, hard."

"I think this is something we can start to work on with you two. You know I will have to tell your therapists about this," Regis replied.

"Okay. That's fair I guess," Prompto said softly

"Also, as punishment for terrifying all of us, I've already had your consoles removed from your rooms," Regis added.

Noctis sat up with a gasp. "You did what!"

"It has to be something, Noct," his father replied. "It's the lightest punishment we could come up with."

Noctis gaped at his father in shock. "Really? For how long?" He asked softly. "Prom can stay, right?"

Regis nodded, giving a small smile. He could never stay mad at his son. "Of course he can stay."

The answer got Noctis to relax a little bit into Prompto's side. "I guess- I guess we deserve no video games for a while," he huffed.

"We have each other though," Prompto replied. "You're better than any old game."

"You're ridiculous." Noctis snorted, though he was smiling a little bit.

"I think we already established that earlier," Prompto chuckled.

Regis couldn't help but smile a bit more at the pair. "You have a little bit of time before your tutors come for your lessons. I'll leave you two alone until then." He stood up to give them a small nod and left the room.

"So... what do we do now? Without video games what else do we do?" Prompto said as he leaned against Noctis a little more.

"Hang out? I bet Iggy will recommend some books for us to read. Or we could explore the Citadel some if we. . . tell someone we're doing it first. Or. . ."

"Noct..." Prompto frowned. "We can't go sneaking around after having you get in trouble for sneaking around."

"That's why we would tell someone first. Then it's not sneaking."

"But it's lying..."

Noctis sighed some. "Okay, I was thinking of taking you to the training rooms."

"Training? What did you want to do there?"

He darted his eyes away from Prompto nervously. "Would-you-like-to-be-in-my-Crownsguard?" he asked in a rush.

Prompto blinked, backing away from Noctis slowly. "Wait what? You want me to do what?"

Noctis hesitated at that. "I- I thought you might want to be a Crownsguard." He said carefully.

"Be... your Crownsguard? But Noct..." Prompto frowned slightly. "I thought that I, that you, had me promise I wouldn't get hurt or die for you. Isn't being a Crownsguard basically being ready to protect you at all costs?"

"I don't- but I- you-" Noctis ducked his head at the question. "If I want to keep you close to my side, and I want to think you want to be there, and keep you safe, you deserve to be trained to protect yourself. And if you're a Crownsguard, you can share my magic."

"Your magic? Like the warping stuff and other things?" Prompto asked as he leaned back closer to Noctis.

"Yeah, though then you'd be more- Kingsglaive, but totally badass."

Prompto grinned. "Being badass sounds fun."

"And you could be my badass." He said with a smile. "Dad thought you would be great at it."

"Even your dad agrees?!" Prompto gasped.

"He's the one who suggested it." Noctis confessed.

"Oh... well if you actually want me to, I'll do it. I did always consider it."

"I get to keep you at my side forever, and you get to be a badass and protect yourself? How could I not want this? Plus, I can share my magic with you, which would be so cool."

"Yeah, the magic part sounds totally awesome. So if you're okay with it, let's do it!"

Noctis reached out to squeeze both of Prompto's. "Want to do it now?"

"Right now? We can do it that easily?"

A bright smile appeared on his face. "Should be. I've been practicing my magic more, so I can do it pretty easily now."

"So what do we do?"

"Come on, we should probably stand up for this." Noctis said as he tugged Prompto to his feet. "Just- um, focus on me. This might feel weird." He warned as he opened up his senses and gently started to push out his magic to connect with Prompto.

Prompto stayed perfectly still, watching the magic glow around Noctis. He breathed in deeply as he saw the magic flow over both their hands. With glowing eyes, he smiled as he found the connection he needed. Then, he looped his boyfriend to his magic, gasping at the sensation of someone else to share it with so closely.

"Whoa..." Prompto muttered, his eyes glowing briefly with the magic that Noctis had just bestowed him.

"Does it feel alright?" Noctis asked curiously. "I'll have to see if I can sneak in some training for you. Gladio will be so proud if we spend free time in the training room without prompting."

"It feels... a bit weird I think. Like very magicy? But hey, if you want to train me, let's do it!"

Noctis let go of his hands so he could dig out his phone. "After tutoring, we'll work on it. For now, our little secret?"

"Okay, I can live with that."

"I can't wait to see what you can do with magic. You're going to be incredible."

Prompto blushed. "You think so?"

"I know so." Noctis assured him before tugging him back to the couch to settle together.

"So how long will it take me to warp like you do?" Prompto asked as he cuddled closely.

He hummed and considered that. "Depends on how quickly you stop puking your guts up."

"Is it... is it really like one of those spinning rides at the carnival?"

"Yeah, maybe times twenty, but it's intense."

"Oh man. But it'll all be worth it when I can warp," Prompto said with a sigh as he closed his eyes once his head was resting nicely on Noctis's shoulder.

"It will. Imagine the cool photos you can get being able to warp up high."

"Oh the photos! That's going to be amazing!" Prompto said, his voice full of joy. "And you'll be there with me, right?"

Noctis smiled at that. "If you want me there, then definitely."

"Well of course! We got to get all the dating pictures now!"

"Oh, is that all you want me for?" He teased lightly.

"Well that and just to spend as much time as I can with you."

"Deal, you've got it. Going back to school and meetings is going to be the worst."

"Ugh, I don't even wanna think about school!"

"You know they're scheming. There are so many schemes."

"Even your schemes?"

Noctis gave a little pout at that. "But you like my schemes."

"Of course I do," Prompto replied before giving a little kiss to Noctis's cheek.

"And if... we have to go back to school, we'll find a way to make it work alright. They don't want to hurt us, right?"

Prompto squeezed Noctis tightly. "Yeah... it'll be okay. It's just school."

Noct laughed a bit at that. "It's just school." He mimicked. "It just... feels so weird after everything."

"I get what you mean... It feels like it was years ago. You think... everyone's going to stare at us?"

He considered that as he held onto Prompto. "Yeah, I think so." He said softly.

"But we won't let them separate us, right?"

"As much as I possibly can."

"Good. I'll hold you to that."

"And what will you do if someone tries?"

"I'll never let you go again," Prompto answered soundly.

The answer made Noctis blink before giving a little smile. "I guess I hope no one tries. I know you aren't to be fucked with."

"And I know you'll be there to protect me."

"Always. Including training you to be able to protect yourself when you want to."

"Yeah... maybe after a little nap. It's comfy here on the couch."

"Then sleep, I'll be here," Noctis said softly.

Prompto nodded as he closed his eyes again, starting to drift off in Noctis's arms.

For once, Noct didn't try to nap as well. He contented himself with petting the blond hair in his arms. When the door opened with their tutors, he couldn't help the protective glare as he pulled Prom closer.

"Prom, wake up, time for school," He said softly, though his eyes didn't leave the door.

"But I don't wanna go..." Prompto muttered.

"Fortunately we don't have to go anywhere. They're here for us."

Yawning, Prompto sat back up and stretched. "Alright. Might as well get it out of the way."

"Then you're welcome to go back to sleep," He replied with a little smile. He finally looked away from the door to focus on Prompto properly.

"But we should get through the studies first. Then we can sleep again ha ha!"

"Yeah, yeah, come on," Noctis grabbed his hand to drag him to their desks to start their lessons.

The two went through their lesson as best as they could, and thankfully it didn't feel like it dragged on forever. Eventually the tutors left and the boys were left alone again.

"So, now we can do some training?" Prompto asked.

Noctis smiled and pulled out his phone. "I'm just messaging Gladio and Specs to let them know where we are, and then, yes. Time for some training."

"Alright! Lead the way!"

He laughed and grabbed Prompto's hand to lead him through the Citadel to one of the private training rooms. There they changed into more practical appropriate clothing.

"Okay, first question, can you sense the magic at all?"

"I think so? I feel... there's like something I can tell is there, but it feels really far away."

"Not bad. You need to have a good grasp on that if you want to do anything with it. But, I guess, do you want to learn to warp first, or fight?"

"Hmm, warping!"

"Warping it is. Time to figure out how to grab and pull on that power then. That's a big part of warping."

"Alright," Prompto breathed in and out as he loosened up his muscles. "Just tell me what I gotta do first!"

"This is going to be boring, but we meditate for a bit." He laughed. "Come on, sit down, and I'll try to explain it like Dad and Glaive Ulric did when teaching me."

Prompto nodded and took a seat. "Okay, so we start with some deep breathing?"

"Yeah, that's the plan. Once you get calm, start to look for that magic so you can pull it forward some."

"Okay... I am looking for the magic... I am reaching out for it. Or trying I mean."

"It might take a while, but, I usually feel it like a- a warmth inside my chest. A connection to something else." Noctis guided softly.

Prompto closed his eyes, trying his best to focus. "A connection. I think I can sense it."

Noctis smiled even though he wasn't being watched. "Okay, good. Try to touch it. What does it feel like?"

Prompto waited a few moments, his deep breaths continuing. "Light? Comforting? Warm too."

"Good. Now, try pulling it forward. It's okay if you can't right now. Try to bring it to your hands."

Prompto gave another nod. Trying his best to reach for the magic. For the briefest moment, Noctis could see flickers of blue magic around Prompto.

Noctis couldn't help a loud gasp when he saw the blue flicker around Prompto. "Keep doing that!" He said excitedly.

"I'm trying! Shush though!"

The words made Noctis stifle his response by pressing a hand against his mouth quickly. He wanted to see Prompto succeed in this.

The magic flickered again, starting to swirl around Prompto. A second later it flicked out like a candle.

"I lost it..."

"Hey, but you did really well on your first try!" Noctis assured him, springing forward to grab his hands. "I saw the magic on you. Did it feel okay?"

"Yeah, felt fine. Did it really work?" Prompto asked curiously.

"I saw the sparks of magic around you. I know it worked."

"Awesome," Prompto grinned.

"Want to keep trying with meditating, or some form of fighting?"

"I dunno. Whatever you think is best? I could try some more focusing if you think it'll help."

"Keep focusing. You got it for a moment. That was awesome."

"So what do I do next? After I reach that power?"

"Try to grab that power as much as you can, and keep hold of it. It can be slippery."

Prompto chuckled. "So magic is like soap?"

Noctis snorted at that. "I've never heard someone say that, but, I guess? It's tricky. Each person is unique."

"Should I just try and pull on it again or should I do like that storage thingy? You know where you sometimes hide your veggies from Iggy?"

"For warping? Try and pull it," Noctis explained. "We can do the other later."

"Right. I'll try again."

Closing his eyes once more he breathed in and let the magic flow around him.

This time the magic flowed to the area Prompto expected, and a light pool of blue energy gathered in his hands, while his mind was able to focus on the excited and slightly anxious mood of his prince.

"You feeling okay, Noct?" Prompto asked softly.

Noctis blinked as he stared at the energy in his boyfriend's hands. "Yeah, of course. Why wouldn't I be?" he said in the steadiest voice he could manage. His nerves were hoping he could make this work and not lead Prompto down the wrong path.

"I just... I don't know if it's the magic or whatever. But can your magic like sense...others?"

"Sense others?" Noctis asked curiously. "In what way? I've never tried. But I don't have a lot of people tied to my magic."

"I can like... or I think I am... sensing what you're feeling? I can feel a presence in front of me and I can feel what they're feeling," Prompto answered.

He was surprised at that and resisted pulling away some. "Is that why you asked why I was feeling alright?"

Prompto nodded, still keeping his eyes closed. "Yeah. That's what I could sense."

"Huh, I never thought about using it that way. Do you want to explore that? I admit, I'm not really a neat set of emotions to sense."

"I'm sure I'm not either," Prompto shrugged. "You know me. A walking internal mess ha!"

Noctis smiled and leaned over to pull Prompto into a hug. "I think we're allowed to be a bit of a mess." He said softly

"Can you sense it though? Or sense me, I mean?"

"I haven't tried. Do you want me to?" Noctis asked curiously.

"Sure? See if it works both ways or I'm just crazy."

Noctis leaned in to kiss Prompto's lips gently. "I don't think you're crazy. I am a bit anxious about this. Alright. Let me, I just need to settle to try." He leaned back to try and settle to the same sitting pose as Noctis.

Noctis took several deep breaths to focus on his magic and seek out the connection between the two of them.

Reaching and expanding his magic out he could sense that something else was within his reach of magic. Something that hadn't been there before.

Before him he could tell there were emotions like anxiety and love. All of it was mixed together, swirling constantly.

"Prom, please, don't fret so," Noctis said softly, his brows furrowed a little bit as he tracked the magic he was following. "It'll be okay."

"I'm trying not to, but that means you got to as well."

Noctis jerked a little bit. "Wait, no, you can't- you can seriously feel all of that?" he asked softly.

"I said I thought I could sense what you're feeling. You're just as anxious as me, dude."

"I was hoping you wouldn't sense that," Noctis said softly as he pressed his forehead against Prompto's.

"But we can sense each other's emotions, does that mean anything?"

"Means it's different from what I'm used to."

"So it's not even something normal? Should we tell someone?"

"Do you want to tell someone? It seems pretty harmless right now. We can- we always know if the other is okay."

Prompto smiled. "Yeah, I guess that isn't so bad then."

"I guess there's no way they can really separate us now," Noctis laughed.

Prompto laughed as well. "I guess so."

Noctis reached up to stroke his cheek softly. "And you're okay with possibly feeling all of my emotions?"

"Well isn't that what love is all about?" Prompto asked.

"I guess so. I don't think I have anything to hide from you."

"I'll never hide anything from you. Never again."

"Same. You're stuck with me forever."

"Just like I said. Ever at your side Noct," Prompto said before he leaned in for a kiss.

The kiss got Noctis to better cup Prompto's cheek as he responded easily. When they parted, he smiled and kept their foreheads pressed together. "Now I'll have to work harder on how to sense you. You've got a leg up on me."

"I must be a fast learner," Prompto snarked.

"You are. I'm jealous," he teased.

"Guess I gotta be the teacher now."

"Okay, then show me what I should do. I want to be able to sense you better. I just get hints."

"Gotcha. Close your eyes again. Deep breaths and sense for what I'm feeling."

Noctis closed his eyes and settled into the meditation his father had taught him. He reached out for the area he had previously sensed to get a better reading of the emotions inside Prompto, glad to feel love as one of the main ones.

"You feel it yet?"

"I think so. This is so interesting. I like feeling how much you love me."

"Well duh! Why wouldn't I love you?"

"I didn't doubt that you loved me, just, the depth is really nice to sense."

"Same here. I can sense your love as well."

"I like it. Though, I guess we are both nervous messes."

Giggling, Prompto nodded. "Yup, but we're together."

Noctis smiled and nodded at that. "Yes, we are together. We can deal with our nerves together thankfully."

The two laughed together again as they stopped their meditative state. They got up, deciding it was best to get something to eat after their accomplishment. They had worked hard after all.
