Recap:

Everyone was staring at Esme's vase. When I looked at it I stopped as well. They weren't looking at the designs that were on it.

No, they were looking at it because it was floating in the air. It had to be floating about a foot above the table.

It was only when I gasped and took a step back when the vase exploded.

My sudden movement caused the vase to explode. Which sent glass raining down in every direction around me.

Everything seemed to slow down.

Glass was flying in every direction around me.

I don't know how, but Alex got to me first. He was the farthest away from me but he managed to get to me the fastest.

He ran to me at once and used his body as a shield. He made sure that I didn't get hurt from the glass shards.

Alex let me go once all of the glass was on the floor. He stayed close to me in case anything else happened.

I stood up to see glass all around me. What just happened?

No one said anything. We didn't know what to make of it.

I looked up at Carlisle to see him staring at the floor. He then slowly looked at me.

"Carlisle?" We both knew that I was the cause of this.

He sighed. "It looks like when you became upset that something peculiar happened."

"I think a vase floating in the air is beyond peculiar Carlisle," I replied.

"It makes sense." I turn to Alice who looked deep in thought.

"Alice, what makes sense?"

She looked at me. "I'm not sure if you realized it at the time, but James had been recording what happened to you and Bella." That's right. He had been recording the whole thing. I forgot about that.

"What does a recording have to do with this?"

"Me and Edward both watched it. There was a part in the video that confused us." She turns to Edward and they both share a glance.

"What confused you?"

Edward turned and looked at me. "When he was..." Edward didn't know what to say next.

"Torturing me?" Alex growled when I said that but I just ignored him.

Edward paused for a second. "Yes. There was a part when you screamed."

Ok, I was beyond confused. "Edward, I was being thrown all over that room. He crushed my leg. Of course I was screaming. You need to be more specific."

"Sophie." I turned to Alice. "The part in question wasn't of him throwing you. There was a moment when he stood in front of you. You let out a scream of pain and fear. What caught us off guard was the fact that a mirror exploded from your scream."

I paused as I started to think. The memory of him standing in front of me entered my mind.

I soon find myself being thrown into another mirror and this time a shard went deeply into my back. Which caused me to let out a scream. I look up to see James making his way back over to me.

I just wanted all of this to stop. So I screamed again because of the pain and wanting this to end when a mirror close to James explodes. The glass rains down on him and he looks just as shocked as me. He turns towards me with narrowed eyes.

I screamed and a glass mirror exploded near us. Me and James had both stared at it. It didn't make sense at the time but now it did.

Something strange was happening to me.

"Why would this be happening now?"

"It seems like something emerges once you get really upset. Whether it's from you being angry or scared. It seems like your emotions bring it out. I'm guessing that it's been developing as you've gotten older."

I always assumed that I was just a shield. I am apparently more than just a shield. I don't even know if I am a shield at all. Maybe I am something else entirely.

"What's happening Carlisle?" I look at him desperately. I am scared because I don't understand what is wrong with me. Did the angel lady plan this all along?

"Sophie it's going to be ok. We will keep watch over you. In the meantime, you probably should keep your emotions in check." I nod. That was all I could do at the moment.

"Sophie." I turn my head over to Edward. He took a step forward and looked like he was going to give me a hug. I always needed his hugs when I was upset. I always accepted them because it made me feel better. This is the first time where I don't want one of his hugs. I didn't want him to even touch me.

I took a step back which did not go unnoticed by Alex.

He let out a growl and stood in front of me. "I think you've done enough. It's probably best if you left." Edward's eyes hardened.

"I just want to console my sister Alex."

"She doesn't want you to console her right now. Your the reason why she's upset. You honestly think she would talk to you after she just found out how you've been treating her. Just because you left one human behind doesn't give you the right to ignore Sophie. She's your sister but you aren't treating her like one." Edward let out a growl.

"Don't talk about her that way. She's not just some human." Edward wasn't talking about me. He was talking about Bella.

"Why shouldn't I? I haven't met her but from what I'm hearing it was a smart idea to leave. Rosalie is right in her being a danger to all of us." Great, there is somebody else who is against Bella.

Edward let out a growl. Before I knew it, Alex was flying towards the back door. He crashed through the glass door which caused him to disappear down the steps outside.

I was stunned that this would be happening. "Sophie." I feel a hand on my arm. I turn to see that the hand belonged to Edward. I try to pull my arm out of his grasp. "Edward."

"Sophie, I'm sorry. Please just let me talk to you." He gives me pleading eyes. I almost want to say yes.

"Edward, I..." I am interrupted by an earth shattering growl.

Alex just came back into the house, and he looks pissed.

"Edward, take your hand off of Sophie now." At that moment something strange happened.

Everybody instantly looked alert. Edward took his hand off my arm but I could see he was struggling. Rosalie stood in front of me and kept her eyes solely on Alex.

"Alex," warned Carlisle. I noticed that Jasper was inching closer to Alex, in case he did anything.

I was beyond confused. "What's going on?" It seemed that my voice snapped Alex out of his thoughts. His eyes landed on me and they widened in realization about what happened. He looked worried.

No one said a word. Everyone was keeping an eye on Edward and Alex. "What just happened?"

After a moment of silence, Emmett was the one to finally speak. "You might have been wondering what Alex's power is since he used to be part of the Volturi. He just used his gift on Edward." Emmett made the word gift sound like a curse.

"Sophie," I turn to look at Carlisle. He seemed to be the only one that was calm in this situation. "Alex has the power of persuasion."

I furrowed my eyebrows. "Persuasion? What does that mean?"

"It means, that I can tell you what to do." Alex looked conflicted. "I told Edward to let you go and he did. Whatever I tell you to do, you have to do it. That's my curse."
