The serpentine creature danced across the sky, running on raindrops as he raced home towards the forest, back to the cave where his mate was waiting for him. Tonight was the night he was to become a father. His name was Katsu. He was a long, spindly-looking dark blue dragon with pale blue dorsal fins, and a mane of blue and purple fur. He had two blue horns on his head and dark purple eyes.

Katsu raced back to his people, who looked to the sky when they saw him return. He landed on the grass and walked past the other dragons, who bowed to the magnificent dragon as he headed towards the cave where he lived with his wife. Entering the cave, Katsu found his mate, Lanmu, lying down on a bed of flowers, her magenta-colored tail encircling five dragon eggs to keep them warm. Her shimmering pink scales made her one of the most beautiful dragons in all of Kumandra. She had lime green eyes, a purple mane and dorsal fins, and red streaks along her back. Her head was crowned with a single red horn.

The dragon leader greeted his wife by nudging her head, looking at her with a tender smile before lowering his dark purple eyes to look down at their soon-to-be-hatched offspring. He nudged one of the eggs closer to the rest of its siblings to keep it warm, not wanting to lose any of his children. It was a lovely night, and Katsu and Lanmu were looking forward to meeting their children for the first time. Patiently, they waited for them to hatch.

Ten minutes later, the eggs started hatching. Lanmu gasped softly and looked at Katsu with an excited smile. Both of them watched as the first egg started to crack open, revealing their first child. The first of their children was a boy dragon with a pale green body and a mane of dark green fur. His teardrop-shaped horn was blue and green. His tail and the dorsal fins on his back were a dark blue color. The boy dragon yawned and looked up at his mother with olive green eyes. Lanmu lowered her head and nuzzled her firstborn son's face, growling softly with affection. The boy dragon smiled and rubbed his head against his mother's warm, fuzzy mane.

Katsu lowered his head to get a closer look at his son, who turned his head and stared up at his father next, looking amazed at just how strong and majestic he was. "Hello, Pengu", the new father said to his son.

Pengu opened his mouth and attempted to speak, but only a weak mewling sound came out, being that he was much too young to try to speak. Katsu laughed and rubbed his head against Pengu's face.

The second egg started hatching, revealing a girl dragon with a pinkish-purple body. She had a dark purple mane and dorsal fins, a long magenta horn on her head and amethyst-colored eyes.

"Hello, Pranee", Lanmu greeted her daughter.

Pranee stumbled out of her egg and turned her head to look at her older brother, Pengu, who regarded his new sister with a kind smile and allowed her to nip at his mane. Katsu and Lanmu laughed at the way their children greeted each other for the first time. Already, they had developed a sense of trust and respect. And at such a young age, too.

A tiny paw came bursting out of the third egg, cracking itself open and revealing another girl dragon. This one was blue and purple with white streaks along her back. She had a magenta horn just like her sister, while her mane was a blue and indigo mix. Her eyes, dorsal fins and tail were purple.

"Hello, little Amba", said Katsu, naming his third child.

The fourth egg hatched and revealed another boy dragon with a purple body, dark purple dorsal fins, light green eyes and a jagged horn on his head.

"Hello, Jagan", said Lanmu, naming the fourth.

While Pranee was getting acquainted with her two newest siblings, Pengu turned to the fifth egg that had yet to hatch and sniffed it, nudging it in the hope that whoever was inside would come out and show himself or herself to the rest of the family. Katsu and Lanmu looked at each other, worried that their unhatched child had not survived. Pengu waited a minute to give the egg a chance, but lowered his head and let out a sad sigh.

Pranee, Amba and Jagan were concerned when they saw their oldest brother look saddened by the apparent loss of their youngest sibling, but then, the egg began to crack, relieving the four siblings and two parents.

The fifth and last one was a small, aquatic blue female dragon with pale purple dorsal fins and two blue horns. Her mane was a mixture of white, pale blue and pale purple streaks. She looked at the dragons around her, staring up at them with big, purple eyes.

"What shall we call this one?" Lanmu asked her mate.

The littlest dragon drew her attention to one of the hibiscus flowers surrounding the nest and sniffed it, letting out a contented sigh. She wiggled her snout and scrunched up her face as she sneezed. Sniffling, she wiggled her snout to try and clear her sinuses of the pollen that effected her nostrils.

"Well", said Katsu, thinking. "I think we'll call her...Sisu."

"Sisu, what a beautiful name", Lanmu agreed.

Sisu sneezed again, shaking her head and wiping her snout with her paw before looking over at her four older siblings, who stared in awe at their newest little sister, who looked at them shyly.

"Don't be afraid, Sisu", said Katsu. "Say hello to your brothers and sisters."

Pengu was the first one to step forward and greet Sisu. She seemed so intimidated by him, but Pengu gave her a reassuring smile and nuzzled his head against hers, welcoming her as his sister. Sisu's eyes widened at this strange display of affection, but then a smile appeared on her face, and she found herself closing her eyes and rubbing her head against her brother's mane, returning his affection. Amba was the next one to come up and meet Sisu, then Pranee, than Jagan, who licked his little sister's face.

Katsu and Lanmu looked at each other with loving eyes and newfound hope, knowing that their five beautiful children were happy and healthy. With their new litter of dragon babies, the family was now one.

When the children were old enough, Katsu and Lanmu explained to them that each dragon had a unique magical ability. The dragon couple showed off their abilities by giving a demonstration involving Lanmu's ability to create flowers and Katsu's power of creating and controlling light. Lanmu cupped her paws together and scooped up some dirt, forming her paws into a ball and producing a lotus flower, while Katsu touched the tips of his claws and formed his paws into a circle, extinguishing a golden light to help the flower glow, making it shine like a bright, beautiful gemstone. The five dragon siblings were amazed and wondered to themselves what sort of powers they would have when they were older.

Within a year, Katsu and Lanmu's children discovered their own unique powers and abilities. Pengu found he could summon and control rain. Amba possessed the power of illumination. Pranee could shapeshift into other creatures, including people. Jagan could make fog. Sisu was the only one who didn't have a power. She wasn't as magical as the rest of her siblings, but the one thing Sisu found she was really good at was being a strong swimmer. Because of her lack of a special power, Sisu felt she would never be as important as the rest of her brothers and sisters, but Katsu and Lanmu knew that Sisu was more than just a swimmer. Even their oldest child, Pengu, knew that one day his sister would prove herself to the world. Sisu would show them she was a mighty dragon, and maybe one day, she would save the world.
