Take Me Home

By: The Hat Potato

If he could only find a way back, then maybe he could tell her how much he cared. Maybe he could suppress her sorrow. Maybe he could make her realize just how much she mattered.

He could see her still, through the tantalizing window of his mind's eye, dangling the unattainable just outside of his realm of existence.

It didn't matter. He deserved this.

He was… a monster.

Or had been.

Still, he couldn't help but feel a little betrayed. Like the Force had let him down somehow. What kind of ending was this — trapped in an eternal absence with nothing to do but watch his ray of light decay.

It was, of course, better than the alternative. Him, the horror of the galaxy, replacing her, the last hope.

So he would live out his torture —Force knew he deserved it— because otherwise, it might have been her here.

The monsters had been separated from his mind. He was cleansed. He should be satisfied.

But how could he sit back, forced to watch her pretending to be okay, like nothing was amiss, like she was fine, only to see silent drops of diamonds rolling down her ghostly pale cheeks at night.

No.

He would never be satisfied. Not until he was back where he belonged. With her. Forever.

The End
