Hello dear readers, welcome to this new project of mind, as you can probably tell this story is a crossover fanfiction between the franchises Kancolle and Space Battleship yamato 2199. I've had the idea for the story for quite a while but never acted on it until recently, but I decided it was finally time for this idea to see the light of day. and without any further ado I present to you the first chapter of 2199 Maidens of the Abyss.
"Hyuga? Hey Hyuga!" a voice calls to me, one that sounds eerily like my sister, yet despite being the voice I know it sounds different, and the Face it belongs to, looks nothing like the sister I know.
this strange recurring dream would always be in a strange place that I didn't recognise, yep despite not recognising it it felt similar somehow, almost like I've seen it a different life, me and my "sister" are always not the only ones in this dream, there are many faces that I recognise, yet at the same time I don't recognise, they are different from the people I know yet somehow the same, and the dream itself always ends the same way, with me and these stranger look alikes, setting sail on a beautiful Ocean towards a goal that I don't know or don't remember.
"Hyuga!" a muffled voice shouts, bringing me back to the land of the waking, rubbing my eyes I look around me, the dream-like environment from before is now replaced with the all too familiar dark green walls of the officers quarters.
As I rub the last of the sleep from my eyes, a banging catches my attention followed by somebody calling my name, I get up from the uncomfy metal frame bed, feeling the joints in my back click as I make my way to the door, opening it reveals Commander Shulz, the second class Gamila in command of the sou system campaign.
"Ma'ma, I have come to report that the fleet will be in range of the Terran fleet in 10-minutes" Shulz says performing a salute, at the mention of the upcoming battle, I can't help but feel a jolt of excitement run up and down my spine, yet at the same time I can't help but feel a slight amount of disgust at what I'm about to do which is new, because in all my years serving the glorious Empire, I've never felt disgusted at teaching rebellious barbarians a lesson they deserve, shaking myself from my musings, I turned to look at Shulz
"You may return to the bridge Commander, I'll be there shortly" I say slowly, my emotionless and almost dead sounding voice betraying just how excited I was for the upcoming battle.
Shulz gives another salute turning on the spot and vacating the doorway, with him gone I make my way over to the bed, grabbing a tattered cloak and sword. I can't help examine the tattered cloak for a moment before draping it over my shoulders, then tying the scabbard of my sword to my belt making sure it is fastened properly, satisfied with my cloak and sword, I walk over to the small mirror on the opposite wall, the thing staring back is what looks to be a young woman possibly in her early 20s. her skin completely broad white and her hair being a somewhat dirty black colour, one eye is completely black with just a white spot in the centre, while the other is a normal looking eye with yellow irises. examining myself for a moment longer nothing seems out of place, satisfied with my inspection I turn on the spot making my way to the door, feeling of excitement for the upcoming battle completely drowning out every other emotion, even the strange sense of disgust.
After a short uneventful journey i finally reach the bridge of my ship, making my way through the large doorway, the general quarters alarm starts to sound as the bridge crew begin to shout orders at each other and on to communication devices, turning my head I can see in the distance blurry undefined shapes backlit by the sun, which itself is a pinprick of light in the endless sea of darkness. I feel the centre of mass of my ship shift ever so slightly as it and the rest of the fleet make a gradual turn to port, putting us from an interception course with the Terran Fleet.
"Distance to enemy fleet 50 mega metres and closing, enemy fleet will be within firing range of the first Destroyer group in approximately 90 seconds" a young technician says, quickly tapping away at one of the many holographic displays in front of him, I gave a slight nod of acknowledgement without taking my eyes off the enemy Fleet, however suddenly I feel something strange instead of it being a new emotion, it's almost like another presence it's faint and distant but it's definitely there, and the part that concerns me the most is the fact that it feels very similar to a presence of another ship maiden, however before I'm able to think about this further Shulz addresses me.
"Ma'am, the first Destroyer group has confirmed the enemy fleet size, they reported approximately 220 ships in total of varying types" Shulz says his usual overconfidence seeming to give way to a slight amount of Fear, at the fact that these seemingly defeated barbarians were able to amass a fleet of this size, and despite my delight at his overly confident attitude being cracked slightly, I can't help the find it surprising that the terrans were able to amass a fleet of such size, when all of our best estimate judge, that their shipbuilding capacity should have been reduced to an almost non-existent output by this point.
However, before I'm able to address him, another young technician quickly springs up from his workstation turning to address me directly.
"Ma'am, the EX 6391 is requesting an open channel with the flagship" the young technician says, looking at me waiting for a reply.
"Put them through" I say without a second thought, looking towards the main holographic display at the front of the bridge, the screen flickers to life showing the bridge of the EX 6391 with a very familiar face being front and centre on the display.
"Maya, we are about to head into battle, why are you contacting us when we are supposed to maintain radio silence!" I hiss, a small amount of anger creeping into my normally emotionless voice, Maya for her part seemingly unfazed by my display, let a toothy grin spread across her face, although calling it a toothy grin was a bit much, considering that half of her face is covered by some strange inky black fleshy material.
"Jeez, calm down Hyuga, I just wanted to let you know that we're going to a act it today, and finally beat these terran weaklings into the dirt where they belong" Maya says her previously cocky "smile" transforming into something a bit more deranged and malevolent, I can't help but let out of sight this, as much as I loved indulging my own sadistic fantasies, there was a time and a place for such behaviour, and right before a major battle is certainly not the time nor the place.
"I'll let this slide just this once, but if you ever do something like this again, there will be consequences" I say authoritatively, with a hard edge to my voice, Maya seems to shrink back for a moment, the smile that was once decorating her face vanishing very quickly, satisfied with my message being put across, a nod towards the young radio communications officer, and the main screen goes dark, just in time for Shulzs to address me.
"Ma'am the fleet is now within firing range, we are awaiting your orders" he says, looking out of the large windows of the bridge, the enemy flees is now easily visible and with my enhanced vision, I can even see individual ships in the fleet.
"You may fire at will commander" I say, my monotone emotionless voice, again betraying just how excited I am, Shulz gives me a salute of acknowledgement, and immediately begins to bark orders at the other Bridge crew, the excitement in me reaches a fever pitch as I feel the turrets of my ship turn to face the enemy, in the distance I can see a bright green flash from any of the ships, most likely taking the opportunity to fire first, several seconds later I can feel several lasers rounds ricochet off my hull harmlessly, I'm then hit with an almost orgasmic feeling as my own laser turrets begin to power up, with feeling the pleasure and excitement about to explode, I don't even wait for the bridge crew to take control.
"All main guns, fire on the enemy!" I practically shout as I feel the lasers rounds leave my gun targets, flying at immeasurable speed through the vacuum of space before impacting the side of a terran Cruiser completely annihilating it in a glorious fountain of fire and smoke.
I feel my legs shake a little bit as the ecstasy of firing my guns washes over me, trying to get my breathing under control I feel several minor pin pricks of pain as several enemy laser rounds harmlessly ricochet off my hull, my guns then fire again the bridge crew obviously managing to wrestle control of the ship from me , however before I can get myself fully under control and issue more orders, I see something in the distance, it's a brilliant blue flash followed by a absolutely mesmerizing blue laser streaking across my bow, before to my horror striking a destroyer next to us completely annihilating it in one hit.
Despite the tremendous battle going just outside the windows of the bridge, it seems so far away after what I just witnessed , we had certainly lost some ships during this campaign which was to be expected, but to see one of our own completely annihilated in just one hit, like that was just a shock, not to just me but the entire bridge crew, who seem to be just as shocked as I am that one of our own was destroyed so easily.
"I need a damage report now" Shulz shouts, seem to be the only one recovered from the momentary dazed, one of the young technicians is broken from his own at the order and quickly types away it his holographic display
"The EX 32167 has been destroyed, with no survivors" he says with a hint of sadness making its way into his voice, however before Shulz can respond, the ship is suddenly rocked violently as I feel an almost unbearable burning in my side, the pain is so bad that my knees buckle slightly, threatening to give way any moment, I almost screamed but only just managing to hold it in
"D- da-dmage report" I barely managed to say my voice stuttering from the pain, looking out of the bridge windows again I can see that the enemy fleet is much smaller than it was previously, with smoke and debris littering the vacuum of space,
"We've been hit by a torpedo, on our starboard side Ma'am, damage control is already on site" a much older crew member says, as he furiously types away at his hollow screen, but before I can respond I see a brilliant flash with something zipping past the fleet at impossible speeds, but before I can even ask what the hell that was, another crew member was turns to address me
"The enemy fleet is beginning to retreat, should we pursue them Ma'ma" the crew member says looking at me in anticipation, I think for a moment whether or not we should pursue the rest of the fleet, but before I can respond another crew member quickly shouts
"I'm detecting several large energy spikes, from the enemy Fleet" as me and Shulz turn to look at the remaining enemy ships, I watch an almost mesmerised with a growing sense of Horror, as several of the enemy ships power up some kind of weapon before unleashing more of those horrifyingly beautiful blue beams, the blue beams quickly reach our ships destroying several of our destroyers and a Cruiser, but before I can say anything, one of our cruisers breaks From formation and begins to accelerate towards the enemy. main communication screen on the bridge flickers to life again, showing The familiar face of maya with a look of almost pure Malice mixed with gly spread across her face.
"They are retreating, Hyuga, it is the perfect time to crush them like the insects they are" shouts madley, her once quite normal sounding feminine voice replaced with something that almost sounds demonic.
"Maya! don't be foolish and reckless, turn that ship around and return to your formation at once!" I say as loud as my voice can manage, considering that the pain from being torpedoed is still very evident, Maya looks momentarily confused, as if what I just said was the most idiotic thing ever, after a moment of silence her face hardens into what I can only describe as a look of anger, before the main communication screen suddenly goes blank.
I say nothing as the entire bridge descends into chaos around me chaos, the bridge crew shouting orders and commands to teach other, I look out of the large Bridge windows to see Maya's EX 6391 quickly covering the ground between our fleet and the remains of the enemy Fleet, dodging and weaving through enemy fire like it's nothing, for a moment I almost believe that she could make it out of there alive, then one of the few remaining battleships turns to face her directly head on, instead of being large and round almost like a sea creature, this one is long and pointed with most of its guns concentrated forward of its large superstructure. it begins to fire at her scoring some hits with its guns, doing relatively little damage to her cruiser, however to my horror it begins to power up one of those large blue beam weapons, before I can say anything it releases its blue beam weapon, time seems to slow as I watched the bean cover the last distance between its origin point and Maya, the beam connect fully with her ship going in one side and coming out of the other, leaving a trail of burnt and melted metal. for a moment her ship hangs there in the void of space seeming to be fine, but as quickly as it came time returns to its normal pace as her ship explodes, despite there being no sound I hear unimaginably horrifying scream of pain, as her presence is snuffed out in the blink of an eye, my knees buckle beneath me fully giving way, landing on my knees I can't help but linger on the smouldering pile of wreckage that was Maya.
T-th-the EX6391 has been completely destroyed, no survivors! a young crew member status, but I pay him no mind as I can chin you to simply stare at the wreckage that once Maya's ship.
"Commander Shulz, the enemy fleet is in full retreat" another crew member says, after much more effort than I thought it would be, I finally managed to get back to my feet, the feeling of complete shock and sadness, still there but gradually diminishing, the death of comrades on the battlefield is to be expected in war, but just because you know it's going to happen doesn't mean you're ever prepared for it.
"Ma'am, a single battleship is breaking from their formation, it's turning around to face us!", one of the bridge crewmen says, which immediately catches mine and Shulz full attention, another crew member brings up an enhanced image on the main screen, and to my shock and rapidly growing anger it's the same battleship that sank Maya, the ship itself was long and angular almost like a dart, most of its guns were concentrated forward of its large rectangular superstructure, with two turrets on its large wing like protrusions. I could see that have been damaged at some point during the battle, with a large smoking hole near it's midship area, just behind this large damaged area was a name written in the terrans language, despite our best efforts translating their written language have been exceedingly difficult, but for some inexplicable reason I could read the name, the ship was named. . . Kii, I am suddenly assaulted strange otherworldly memories, places and conversations I don't remember or recognise, at the centre of these memories is a large tall man, he was tall very tall, and he wore some kind of strange Navy uniform, his eyes were brilliant sapphire blue, and his hair was a flowing waterfall of brilliant platinum coloured hair, quickly as the memories come they go, the strange of a worldly environment replace with the familiarity of the bridge of my ship
"The enemy battleship is accelerating, it-it's advancing on our fleet!" a crew member shout as the enemy battleship begins to advance on us, before me or Shulz can issue any kinds of orders, the enemy battleship opens fire with its main guns, it's shot quickly finding their Mark, obliterating a Destroyer very close to us, everyone on the bridge is Shell shocked what they just saw as the enemy battleship continues its advance, quickly managing to take out more members of the first Destroyer group, and subsequently breaking through the Destroyer screen
"T-th-the enemy battleship has broken through the 1st Destroyer group, and is advancing on the main fleet" another crew member shouts as the bridge goes into full chaos, but for me I can't help but be mesmerized by that ship, then I feel it again that's strange almost familiar presents, coming from that ship.
"The EX 39217 and EX6317 have both been destroyed! the enemy battleship is rapidly closing on us!" an older crew member says, as more of our ships go down, finally managing to break myself from my weird otherworldly daze, I take matters into my own hands taking full control of my ship, but as I orientate my guns to fire on the enemy battleship, I suddenly hear strange alien singing, the clearer and more familiar it becomes.
O'er the gelid waves of galactic streams, Set course for the fixed star of Centauri, Our glorious cosmoship crosses o'er the void far, Beyond those twinkling stars the meaning of the lyrics is obviously it's the voice that catches me, it sounds familiar , painfully familiar almost like it was someone I knew deeply, I touch my cheek and feel tears running down my face, at this point my frustration reach the boiling point, I don't understand what's going on, why do I feel like this for something I've never seen or knew, and I'm frustrated at the voice because it makes me sad, for a reason I don't know.
Set Sail! We're casting off, anchors aweigh, Stand on your bearing, steady as she goes, Weather your helm towards the stars, We are Pilots We are Pilots of the Cosmos, the voice continues to sing as every ship in the fleet opens fire on the enemy battleship, despite being hit and damaged severely the enemy ships seems to keep going as if piloted by some force of nature, and despite the unnerving feeling of sadness never leaving, I finally get the enemy battleship in my sights, and unload a full broadside from my guns, some of my shots miss but most of them land true hitting the ship in its centre section, but the ship keeps going tearing into our destroyers and Cruisers, and to my slight shock and horror turning it's guns to face me, it unloads a full broadside of its own, its shots landing true, I feel the Unbearable pain as it's shots melt through my hull armour plating, but through sheer determination I block out the pain as I unload another broadside into the enemy battleship, all of my shots landing home, to my satisfaction the enemy battleship stops returning fire and begins to gently roll to its starboard side, before going up in a absolutely almighty explosion, much like with Maya there was otherworldly scream of agony, followed by unyielding silence. I tried to get my breathing on the control as I look at the spot where the enemy battleship was, the bridge is in a complete chaos as orders are given, looking out at the Battlefield before me, I can see the debris of both our and the enemy ships floating in the cold vacuum, managing to finally get my breathing under control again, I turned to Shulz just in time for him to address me.
"Ma'am we've lost 38 ships, and 20 of them are heavily damaged, i recommended that all damaged vessels immediately make haste for the floating continent on planet five" Shulz says hastily as members of the bridge crew continue to bark orders have each other, I think for a moment why he was suggest such a thing then I remembered, the floating continent was protected by a group of 4 destroyers and 1 heavy cruiser, all of which were linked to ship maidens, despite the numbers been less the quality of their experience would be greater than the ship's would be losing, satisfied with my conclusion I turn to address him.
"The damage ships can depart immediately, also make sure that a message is sent ahead to the floating continent, about the protection fleet being reallocated, and the arrival of the damage ships" I say my voice sounding a bit hoarse and raspy, Shulz nods with acknowledgement, quickly addressing several crew members, as for me I turned back to look at the large expanse of space, the debris of the battle littering space like discarded trash, I'm struck by another feeling, this feeling being a strange sense of loss whether it be for Maya or even the enemy battleship I don't know and perhaps I never will.
Pain, all I can feel his pain, I don't know whether it's my own pain, the pain of the people, or maybe even the pain of the world itself, but I feel immense pain, I barely remember who I am anymore, was I a person? was I a warship? was I spirit or maybe even a force of nature? try as I might the answers do not come. But one thing I am certain of is that the pain persists, sometimes it's hot and fiery like the heart of a raging fire, other times it's cold and almost non-existent, like the last embers of a campfire being stuffed out by the cruel wind, and other times there is no anger, in those times sadness and melancholy take its place. However recently I felt something different, for the first time and I don't know how long I felt something different than sadness or anger, I felt. . . hope, just for a moment, but as quickly as it came it was replaced by anger and sadness again the two emotions I'd come to truly understand, I understand the hatred and rage, but what I'm supposed to be hating I can never fully understand, I also understand the Sadness, sadness for something that is now lost but what has been lost I can't say.
But now I feel something new, it's a new kind of pain that's hard to describe but it feels more real somehow, I then feel something new, I feel death, the death of people, of human beings. I felt their consciousness being snuffed out in a mere second, as if their consciousness was a little match in the darkness that have been blown out without any thought. rage boils within me, rage at the idea of people's lives being snuffed out so frequently, with much of this rage is directed towards myself, because there is nothing I can do to protect them, but then I realised something, all I've done is sit here and feel sorry for myself, as people die around me, but maybe, just maybe there is something I can do to stop the suffering, straining with all my might, the darkness that was so familiar to me evaporates, revealing an almost hellish looking alien landscape, the Landscape itself is completely barren of life, the only notable thing for miles around is impact craters of various sizes, littering the landscape like battle Scars. The ground itself looks like it may have once been sand or possibly mud, but now it is hard and rocky slowly baking under the setting sun, suddenly a memory pops into my mind, for moment I can't make anything from it, but then I truly remember, there was once a beautiful blue Ocean that sat here, the deep Ocean that was once prosperous and full of life, but now all that is left is a lifeless desolate landscape baking in the harsh sunlight, I'm suddenly struck by more unyielding pain, as an explosion occurs in my field of vision, at the same time I feel more innocent consciousness being snuffed out of existence, the rage within me begins to boil even more as I frantically look around for what's causing the destruction, and then I finally see it, hanging in the sky high above me is a strange four limb thing slowly rotating, but looking at it closely, I realise it's some kind of otherworldly vehicle, because I can see strange looking aircraft being deployed from its limbs. some of the aircraft begin to make strafing runs on me, causing more unbearable pain and to my horror even more death, despite the Unbearable pain the rage begins to boil over in me, as the enemy continues the indiscriminate attack, I let out a scream of rage only audible to myself, as I'm mentally screaming myself to do something. suddenly in my peripheral vision I see a half buried battleship gun turret, spring to life it's barrels raising up into the air, before it slowly begins the turn towards the strange enemy craft, keeping my eyes focused on the enemy craft, I see the centre of it begin to glow a brilliant blue, however I pay this detail no mind, as my brain begins to automatically calculate the trajectory and direction my shells will take to reach their target, with my gun turret now fully traversed facing towards the enemy vehicle, I wait not a moment longer as I finally give the command.
"FIRE!"
Despite this being far from the first I've been inside a cockpit, the rush of excitement as the engines power up to full still gets me. looking at the electronic read out I can see everything is in working order, so not waiting a moment longer I release the brakes, feeling myself be pushed back into my seat by the g forces, as the cosmo zero quickly reaches takeoff speed, the dim light of the tunnel is quickly replaced by the blinding light of the setting sun, as the fighter is propelled into the air quickly gaining altitude, in fact looking at the altimeter I can't help but be amazed by this fighter, considering that me and Shima had ascended to nearly 5000 ft of altitude in just over a minute.
looking at the heads-up display radar I can see a unknown contact quickly approaching on the radar, looking around for a moment I quickly spot it about 500 feet above us
"I've got it, it looks like some kind of recon plane" I say to Shima, as I quickly begin to close the distance between us and the enemy aircraft.
"Do you think you can do this?" Shima asked, as we quickly gain the altitude needed to intercept the enemy.
"Oh yeah, of course I can do this, this one's for my brother" I say as I bring the enemy aircraft into my sights, my recon plane begins to initiate evasive Manoeuvres, but due to the cosmo zeros, we are easily able to stay on its tail, was the aircraft finally lined up in the Gun sight I pull the trigger, but to my confusion nothing happens, and due to my confusion the enemy has just enough time to escape my gun sight and quickly ascend to a higher altitude, looking up the heads-up display a red warning system indicates that the guns and missile racks are completely empty.
"Dammit! the deck crew must have unloaded the weapon systems" Shima shouts being a bit late on that conclusion, before I can respond the aircraft is rock violently by an explosion, looking at the heads-up display reveals that one of the engines has caught fire, my brain goes into autopilot, remembering all the years of training on how to land damaged aircraft.
"Hang on Shima! this is going to be a rough one!" I say as the ground quickly approaches, the aircraft makes hard contact with the ground so much that the landing gear legs completely collapse, resulting in the aircraft skidding across the the baked landscape on its belly, one of the wings is ripped clean off by a stray rock, before the aircraft finally comes to a stop.
despite the crash being quite violent, both me and Shima don't seem to have any injuries aside from a few bruises, Shima is the first to exit the cockpit and quickly retrieve the emergency kit from the side of the fighter, despite the aircraft been quite poor shape I realised that most of it systems are still functioning, so I quickly start the distress beacon on the aircraft so that it can be picked up at a later date, before powering down all of the other systems and exiting the cockpit.
"Dammit, the emergency kit is mostly empty, I think they were still loading it when we took the fighter" Shima says with a bit of worry creeping into his voice, I understood exactly why he was concerned the suit we were wearing were simple light atmospheric suits, and therefore had no radiation shielding, meaning that we wouldn't survive very long if the recovery team couldn't find us.
"Well, I activated the emergency beacon on the aircraft, so as long as we stay near it the recovery team should find us" I say as I quickly make my way if the top of the small in crime, to hopefully get a better scope of the environment around us, reaching the top of the hill I'm struck with a strange sight, laying there half buried in the baked earth, backlit by the setting sun is the remains of a sunken battleship, for some inexplicable reason the site is almost mesmerising.
"Hey! Kodai you see something?" Shima shouts, as he quickly makes his way up the small incline after me, I don't answer because for some reason I'm still mesmerised by the sight of this rusting hulk half buried in the Earth.
"Hey, what is that!" Shima says, seemingly a bit confused that what he's looking at, as we both continue to stare at the sunken battleship.
"Do you think that's what the enemy was looking for" I say questioningly, as crazy as it sounds even to me, all of our bases are hidden underground, and this is the only man-made object around for miles from the looks of it.
"I doubt it, it's just an old sunken battleship, the thing must be nearly 200 years old, or maybe more than that" Shima says, with that being the most logical conclusion, despite the explanation being the most logical one I can't help but feel there's something more to this old battleship.
the site of the sunken battleship half buried in the Earth, with a blazing sun setting behind it, is a picture I would almost call beautiful if the Earth wasn't an irradiated hellscape, however before I can think about anything else, I hear a faint sound in the distance, that being the unmistakable sound of a gamila aircraft, I quickly turn my head skyward as does Shima, and sure enough rapidly approaching our position is a squadron of attack planes.
not wasting a moment, me and Shima, quickly take cover behind a large outcropping of rock at the crest of the hill, as the enemy aircraft begin to make their attack run, but instead of attacking us they instead for some reason target the sunken battleship, me and Shima watch with confusion as multiple aircraft make strafing runs on the ship.
"This doesn't make any sense, why would they be attacking a sunken battleship" I say questioningly, as several aircraft break off and begin to return to whatever they're coming from, with several new aircraft appearing overhead to take their place in the strafing runs.
"What the hell, where are they coming from" Shima says as more aircraft appear in the skies above us, quickly pulling out my binoculars I begin to look around for where the aircraft could be coming from, after a moment I finally spot it offering high in the sky, it's the very familiar shape of an enemy aircraft carrier, but before I can even tell Shima that it's an enemy carrier. It quickly powers up some kind of beam weapon, firing it at the ground, the laser hits the ground with a colossal impact before melting and ripping a path across the back of the sunken battleship, a second later there is a colossal explosion as something near the battleship explodes.
For a second there is nothing but the Echo of the explosion then a new sound is heard near the front of the sunken ship, one of its half buried gun turrets remarkably comes to life, it's barrels rising up from the baked and charred earth, with its gun barrels now clear of the hard rocky ground, the entire turret begins to slowly rotate to face the enemy carrier. All the wild the enemy carrier is recharging it's beam weapon for another attack, the gun turret stops rotating for a moment there is silent, then there is a colossal explosion as each one of its gun barrels fire simultaneously, the sound and shock wave hitting us like a brick wall, remarkably all of its shells connect with the enemy carrier, causing it to explode in a massive fireball high in the sky raining debris down on the earth surface.
Me and Shima jump up from our covered position in absolute shock, at what we just witnessed, this seemingly sunken battleship had just taken out an enemy carrier with propellant cannon shells of all things, but before we can recover some of the enemy aircraft explode in brilliant fireballs of their own. Looking up we can see flying overhead the unmistakable silhouette of cosmo Falcons fighters, who begin to make short work of the enemy attack aircraft, one of them flies directly overhead of us with Shima screaming that we are right here, the cosmo falcons quickly disappear into the distance the ramble of their jet engines only a distant sound now, but I pay that no mind as I looked back to the supposedly sunken battleship.
"It's alive, this rusted old ship" I say as I take one last look at this sunken battleship, as the distance drone of the recovery vehicle can be heard.
