"Dear Diary,

Yesterday I met a guy. I still don't know what I can say about him, except that he's beautiful and mysterious. I liked him, but it would be presumptuous for me to say that he liked me too. I just know that he was very kind to me."

Catherine was interrupted by her roommates who came in the bedroom talking a lot while Catherine wrote in her diary. Jane, who liked to ignore Catherine, was the most excited.

"He's beautiful, isn't he? I'll find a way to go out with him when the ship docks somewhere," Jane said to her friends.

"He doesn't even know you exist, Jane," Pamela, the other girl, said.

"Do you want to bet?" Jane asked them.

"What do you think, Catherine?" Pamela asked her.

"I don't know who you are talking about," Catherine replied.

"Steven McGarrett, the most handsome soldier on this ship. But don't look at him, because he's mine," Jane told Catherine.

Catherine didn't answer her. She closed her diary and left the bedroom to call her mother while she could still do that.

"She thinks she's a lot superior, doesn't she?" Jane said after Catherine left the bedroom.

Catherine called her mother and then went back to the bedroom. The other girls talked and talked and wouldn't let her sleep.

"Girls, please, I have a lot of work to do tomorrow. I need to sleep!" Catherine told them.

"Put on a headset," Jane replied.

"Your safety also depends on my job, did you know that?" Catherine told Jane.

"Snob!" Jane teased her and continued to talk.

Catherine closed her eyes and tried to think of other things. "How am I going to endure this for months?" Catherine thought.

Catherine got out of bed early and went to the gym. She was running on the treadmill when Steve arrived.

"Good morning," Steve told her.

"Good morning," she replied without panting.

"I must say that you are in great shape," he told her.

"Thanks, but this isn't a flirt, is it?" She asked him.

"No, it isn't. It was just an observation and I was talking about your breathing; it is very good for who are running at this speed."

"That's what I thought," she replied, but was disappointed by his answer.

Steve stood for a while while she ran. "Did you come to the gym to talk? Get on this treadmill right away!" Catherine told him.

Steve smiled when he heard her order. "Was my superior dismissed and did you take his place?"

Catherine blushed when she heard his question. She didn't want to make herself bossy, because she wasn't like that. She was only exhausted and in a bad mood after such a bad night's sleep. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have said that." She gradually slowed down the treadmill until it stopped.

Steve was just kidding, but he saw that she took his answer seriously. "Hey, I was just kidding, I never wanted to be rude to you."

"You weren't rude. I'm just not cool today, I'm sorry." She bent down to pick up the small backpack that was on the floor.

Steve held her gently by the arm. "Do you want to talk? Do you need advice? Well, I must tell you that if you need advice I am the last qualified person to give that advice, but I'm here to listen to you. Do you miss your family?"

"Yes, I miss my family, but that's not it. Your admirer won't let me sleep and it irritates me deeply and I'm afraid it will influence my work and I will put someone's life at risk," Catherine replied.

"Admirer? What admirer?" Steve asked.

"Jane, my roommate. She only talks about you," Catherine replied and saw Jane walk into the gym. "She just came in."

Jane saw Steve talking to Catherine and approached the two. "Aren't you going to introduce me to your friend, Catherine?"

Catherine was annoyed by Jane's inconvenience and reluctantly introduced Steve to her.

"Jane, this is Steve," Catherine said.

"Hi, Steve. I'm Jane, I'm a friend of Catherine's, almost a sister."

Steve saw Catherine get indignant without saying a word.

"Actually, my name is Steven. Steve is only for intimates," he replied to Jane and looked at Catherine that wanted to laugh, but held back.

Jane was not intimidated even Steve turning her down.

"Can I keep you two company?"

"Well, I don't know about Catherine, but I'm going to get ready for breakfast," Steve replied.

"I'm going, too, I need a shower," Catherine told Jane and left the gym with Steve.

"You were mean to her, but I can't say that I'm sorry," Catherine told him.

Steve smiled. "She was mean to you too, right? She messed with my friend, she messed with me."
