The next day, Steve woke up early and listened to the sound of the waves arriving on the beach sand in his backyard. He looked aside Catherine was still sleeping. She shifted on the bed when he got up.

"Steve ...," she murmured without opening her eyes.

"Go back to sleep, it's still early," he kissed her forehead, put a towel on his shoulder, and left the room. He smelled coffee coming from the kitchen. John had also risen early and was preparing breakfast.

"Good morning, Steven," John told him.

"Good morning, Dad. Do you need help?"

"No, it's all underway. I assume you're going to sea," John told him.

"Yes, I'm going to swim while Catherine is still asleep."

"Have fun," John replied.

Steve went into the sea and swam for a few miles. From a distance he looked at his house. It was so weird to be there after so long, but at the same time he was feeling good about being with John. "What a lonely life," Steve thought about his father's life. The house was empty and silent without Doris, without Steve and without Mary. "Will I ever understand my father?" Steve continued with his thoughts.

John was also happy to receive Steve's visit. Maybe he didn't know how to show that happiness well, but he was really happy.

Catherine woke up some time later, and John was setting the table for breakfast. "Good morning, Mr. McGarrett."

"Good morning, Catherine. Did you sleep well?" John asked her.

"Yes, I slept very well. The sound of the sea is very relaxing and there is the advantage of hearing it without being sailing. It is very good," she replied.

"I'm glad you liked our house," John told her.

"Yes, I liked a lot."

Steve entered the house through the kitchen door and then went into the living room. Catherine had already sat down at the breakfast table and was waiting for him and John.

"Hey! Did you go swimming without me?" Catherine told him and smiled. Steve kissed her on the lips quickly. "You were sleeping so cute I felt sorry for waking you up, Cath."

"Okay. I forgive you," she replied.

"I'm going to take a quick shower and be right back," he told her and went to the bathroom.

They had breakfast together and then John and Steve went to John's old car.

"Won't she be upset that you're here with me in the garage while she's alone?" John asked Steve.

"And who says she's alone? She's talking to the neighbor on the right," Steve replied.

"This is good. The neighbor is nice," John replied.

Steve smiled. "Any chemistry with the neighbor, dad?"

John laughed too. "What? No!"

"Well, you're a widower, if your neighbor is also free, what's wrong with dating?"

"Shut up and start the car so I can test the engine?" John pretended to be mad at Steve. Steve laughed at John because he noticed that his face was flushed. They spent nearly three hours fiddling with the car. Catherine had already talked to the neighbor, had already sunbathed on the beach and had already made lunch. "Lunch is ready, guys," she said to Steve and John.

"We're going, Cath," Steve replied to her.

"Okay, I'm going to set the table." She put the platters on the table and waited for Steve and John.

The neighbor invited us to a card game tonight. She is very nice, "Catherine told Steve and John.

"We can go?" Steve asked her.

"I think it's going to be cool. Are we going, Mr. McGarrett?" Catherine asked John. From the neighbor's words, Catherine thought she had some feeling for John.

"I don't know, Catherine. I'm going to work tomorrow," John replied.

"We can only play one game. She was so kind to invite us," Catherine told him.

"And you are being so kind to ask. I don't think I can refuse a request from my daughter-in-law."

"Thank you," Catherine smiled and looked at Steve. She looked like a little girl happy to have won a compliment. Steve returned the smile and continued to eat.

Is it mine impression, or do you want to get my dad a girlfriend? "Steve asked Catherine as they dressed to go to the neighbor's house.

"He needs a mate, Steve. His life must be very lonely, and she seems to like him."

Steve didn't answer and she asked him if she was beautiful. "You look beautiful," he kissed her before they left the room. John was waiting for them in the living room and they went to neighbor Anna's house.

"Hello! I am so happy that you accepted my invitation," Anna told them when she opened the door.

"Hi," Catherine replied and Steve and John did the same.

"Thanks for inviting us," John said to Anna.

"You're welcome, John," Anna replied with a huge smile.

The night was being fun, but after two games John went home and Steve and Catherine stayed at Anna's.

Catherine was seated opposite Steve, on the opposite side of the table, and saw a woman approach behind Steve and place both hands on his shoulders.

Steve looked up and saw Jenny Feldman smiling at him. "Hi, Steve! It's nice to see you again."

Steve looked at Catherine and was embarrassed. Catherine looked at him and looked down when he said nothing. She expected him to introduce her as his girlfriend to Jenny. And she could say that the two of them had already been quite intimate.

"Hi, Jenny," Steve just answered.

"Can I participate in the next round?" Jenny asked Anna.

When the match was over, Catherine said goodbye to Anna and got up from the table to leave. Steve knew she was upset and got up to go after her. He also said goodbye to the people and went after Catherine, who strode. "Catherine!" Steve called her and she didn't answer and kept walking. She went into the house, went straight to the room and Steve went after her. "Catherine! What was that about?"

"I just wanted to leave, but you didn't have to come. You could have stayed there with your "friend". After all, you don't care about me. You didn't even let her know that you were with me."

"Are you jealous, Catherine? Jenny was my friend from school," Steve told her.

"She wasn't just your friend. Her hands felt very comfortable on your body."

"Okay. She was my first girlfriend, but this is over a long time ago, Cath."

"Your first girlfriend?" Catherine looked at him sadly. "And what am I? He never called me a girlfriend," she thought.

Catherine changed clothes and dressed to sleep. She turned away and didn't look at Steve anymore.

"Cath, you are being childish," Steve told her and she didn't respond. He lay down beside her and put his hand on her shoulder. She raised her hand in "stop" and he stepped back. "Okay, Cath. We'll talk tomorrow when you're calmer."
