" Billy?" Steve asked like he was thinking out loud.

"Yes," she replied looking him in the eye.

Steve released her and left the room without a word. She just heard the noise of the main door opening and closing.

"What's he thinking? He left me, he broke up with me without caring about my feelings and now he's coming to condemn me for dating someone. Who does he think he is to think he can dispose of my life as he pleases? " Catherine was talking to her mother a few minutes later.

"Catherine, calm down. You didn't do anything wrong. You were a free person dating someone and there's nothing wrong with that. Don't blame yourself, my daughter."

Catherine dried her tears. "Thanks, Mom. It's good to hear that from you."

"And why did you and Billy break up?"

"We didn't break up because we never started anything officially. We just stopped meeting. I don't love Billy, Mom."

"But you love Steve, don't you?" You don't need to answer me because I know you love him. No one knows you better than me, Catherine. However, don't let him overwhelm you. Dry those tears and lift your head. The most important person in your life is yourself."

"You're right, Mom. You're always right. Tell Dad I said hi."

"I'll tell him, honey. Good night and don't forget we love you so much."

"I love you too, Mom. Bye." Catherine ended the call and felt more relieved after talking to her mother. Her mom would always be her best friend.

Catherine didn't see Steve for the next two days. On Saturday morning she was surprised with a delivery of a bouquet of flowers. "Thank you," she told the delivery boy, tipped him and then closed the door. There was a card next to the bouquet and she opened it to see who had sent the bouquet.

"I was an foolish and an idiot. Forgive me. Meet me today in Coronado. We have a dinner reservation. I'll wait for you at the address below." She read the address and Steve's signature at the end of the card.

"Oh, Steve..." she sighed. It would be hard for things to go back to the way they were before everything that had happened between them.

It was evening when Steve checked his watch for the tenth time. "She doesn't come anymore," he said to himself because he knew she was a punctual person. He was disappointed and was taking off his tie and unbuttoning his shirt when the doorbell rang. "Cath?" He whispered and hurried to open the door. "Hey," he said when he opened the hotel room door and she was there.

"Hey," she replied.

"Come in, Catherine," he took her hand gently and led her into the room.

"You look beautiful," Steve told her.

"Thank you," she replied and waited for him to continue the conversation.

"I thought you wouldn't come anymore."

"I thought twice before I came here, Steve. You know, I don't think things can go back to the way they were before you broke up with me, and after Billy."

Steve reached out and touched her face. "I don't want things to be the way they used to be. I want them to be better. I don't want to think about what happened anymore, I want to look ahead, and no matter what I project for my future, whatever I can achieve, nothing is worth it if you're not there. Nothing's worth it without your smile."

"Words are not enough, Steve."

"It's not just words, it's words from the depths of my heart," he replied and brought his lips closer to hers.

"I shouldn't believe you," she told him, but it was she who took the initiative and kissed him. A calm kiss at first, but it turned overpowering as he took charge of the situation.

Three hours later, Steve was resting in her arms. "I think we lost our restaurant reservation," Steve told her.

"No problem," she replied.

"I missed being with you like this," Steve told her as he placed small kisses on her neck. "We're back?"

Catherine smiled sweetly at him. "Yes, Mcroll is back."

PS: I know it was a short chapter, but I didn't want to let the story without update for too long. Thanks for the review in the previous chapter.
