Night fell on the busy city. Cars passed by with headlights lighting up the buildings it passed. People were either getting home or going to work a late shift. Amongst all the chaos was a white horse sitting at the edge of the sidewalk with his head in his hands, singing a small song. A song you might be familiar with.
"I want you for a lifetime, so if you're gonna think twice, baby" The horse quietly sang. "I don't wanna know baby. I don't wanna know"
This song reminded him of someone who was no longer with him. It was his favorite song, and his favorite video game. They were adults but the horse found it amusing that this someone was so interested in childish things like video games. As much as he wanted to, He never judged them.
"Mr Quick Draw? You're still here"
Exiting the building behind the horse was his lawyer Harvey Birdman, who had just clocked in. Harvey expected the horse to just go home after their trial so he was surprised to see the horse outside his building.
"Yes Mr Birdman" Quick Draw replied. "Can't a guy wallow in peace?"
"Is this about Baba Looey?" Harvey Birdman said.
"No, I'm mourning the death of Daws Butler" Quick Draw said sarcastically "Of course this is about Baba Looey! You and your murderer of a son didn't know him the way I did. All you did was make fun of his poor English and your son straight up killed him."
Quick Draw stands up.
"While I wholeheartedly stand by the fact that people have the right to bear guitars, that only applies to those with a license. Your teenage son had no license and NO right to be snooping around my guitar collection!" Quick Draw quipped. He sighs.
"Of course, this isn't entirely his or your fault" Quick Draw says. He takes off his hat. "I should've locked up the drawer, and I should've told Baba not to let your son touch the guitars"
"Well, I'm sorry about what happened, really," Harvey said. "I'm not good at helping a grieving person but uh. What was Baba Looey like?"
"Well, Mr Birdman" Quick Draw said. "I would rather discuss that in a place that isn't the streets of this dump of a city"
After a transition, the two are at a nearby cafe. Cindy Bear has just given the two men the coffees they ordered.
"Thank you Cindy, you're a beaut" Quick Draw said. "This better be black coffee or Tell Yogi to not expect any cubs"
Quick Draw turns his attention to Harvey. "Now about Baba Boy. He has been my partner since we were young. Eventually, we became...partners"
"Oh uh congratulations?" Harvey said.
"I'd sent you an Invite to our wedding" Quick Draw said. "If we had one"
"Oh… I'm so sorry" Harvey said. Quick Draw takes a drink of his coffee.
"No need to apologize Mr Birdman" Quick Draw said. "Wedding would've been expensive anyway. But our photoshoot for that Kama Sutra book would've paid it off. After moving here, we were desperate for money. So we did every job we could take. Including that Kama Sutra book. SInce he's gone, I don't wanna look at that book ever again"
Harvey awkwardly takes a sip of his coffee.
"I better get going. It's my first night without Baba Louis, and I'd rather get up early to sue your son" Quick Draw. "Goodbye Mr Birdman"
He throws his coffee aside, hitting Boo Boo Bear's crotch,
"AH! I CAN'T FEEL MY LEG" Boo Boo Bear. "MY THIRD LEG. CINDY, DON'T EXPECT ANY CUBS FROM ME"
One transition later, Quick Draw is back at his house. He and Baba Looey shared this house. Rent was cheap but it was a decent living place. Except for the twin mice that lived in their walls. A cat would always break in to kill the mice. However the three of them were peacefully watching tv when Quick Draw came home.
"How are you 3 not at each other's throats?" Quick Draw asked.
"Greetings Mr Quick Draw" One of the mice said. "We heard about what happened so we decided to put aside our differences so you can grieve in peace"
"Well that gets rid of one problem" Quick Draw said. He drops his things at the door and walks to his bedroom.
"How come the Sponge never leaves the octopus alone?" The cat said on the TV.
Quick Draw sits at the foot of his bed, head in hands. He takes a look at his nightstand, where a framed photo of him and Baba Looey. He takes the framed photo and sighs. His mind wanders elsewhere:
It was the night before Quick Draw was arrested. The two were watching tv in the living room. Baba was all bundled up in Quick Draw's arms.
"Someone's cuddly today," Quick Draw said.
"Why wouldn't I be?" Baba said. "Your mane is so soft"
"But now I won't be able to get up and go to the bathroom," Quick Draw said.
"Oh well" Baba says. He laughs.
"How did I ever fall in love with you?" Quick Draw said.
"Because deep down in your cold heart, there is love," Baba said.
"I'll be cold dead in my grave before I can admit that" Quick Draw said. He kisses the top of Baba's head.
"I love you Queeks Straw" Baba said.
"The feeling is mutual Baba Looey," Quick Draw said.
Back to present day, a single tear drop stains the framed photo.
"How did I live…." Quick Draw silently sings. "In a kingdom of thieves…"
"And why do I say…." Quick Draw wipes his eyes. "Things I don't really mean…."
He sighs.
"That blasted song is stuck in my head," Quick Draw said. "I don't care for that Disney BS anyways. Is this Baba trying to talk to me one last time?... Don't think twice…"
Another flashback plays:
It's after Quick Draw is arrested, he and Baba are talking through that one screen wall you see in movies. Baba asked Harvey for the two of them to have some alone time together.
"This system is corrupt," Quick Draw said. "They won't let me out as long as they have my Guitar"
"Harvey is one of the best lawyers in town," Baba Looey said. "I have hope that he will win your case"
"Don't be too optimistic Baba Boy" Quick Draw said.
"I've never once given up on you!" Baba Looey said.
"I am aware," Quick Draw said. "I'm the worst person you'll ever meet yet you stuck around and fell in love with me"
"Because I see potential in you Queeks Straw" Baba Looey said. "You're far different from every other guy I've met. You don't make fun of me for my accent, or my height, You helped me with my English, and although you can be mean, rude and aggressive at times, You've saved my life over and over again"
Quick Draw covers his eyes with his hat, a small whimper can be heard.
"Are you… crying?" Baba Looey said.
"No, there's something in my eyes," Quick Draw said. "It's tears!"
"If this is the last time we see each other…." Baba Looey said, also tearing up. He puts a hand in the glass. "I'll wait for you Queeks Straw. And we can get married once you get out. And we can go on that vacation we wanted to go on"
Quick Draw also places his hand on the glass.
"Baba Looey, I…..I…." Quick Draw says, shakiness in his breath. "I love you"
"I'm so glad to finally hear that…." Baba says. "I love you too"
That was the first, and last time Baba Looey would ever hear that. While Quick Draw was in court, Baba Looey was killed by a guitar due to it not being locked away properly.
Back to present day, the frame was now littered in tears and was back on the nightstand. Quick Draw is in bed crying into a pillow.
"Darn you Baba" Quick Draw said. "You left me here with my emotions. There were so many things I never got to say to you. It should've been me!"
He throws the pillow across the room but it knocks over the framed photo, which shatters once it hits the floor. Quick Draw quickly gets up and picks up the destroyed photo, there's a permanent mark of Baba's face.
"Damn….." Quick Draw said. "Is this karma? Mockery? Why is this happening to me? Why am I such a stubborn dirty horse?"
Quick Draw falls to his knees, now an emotional mess. He was never like this, he never showed sadness like this before. It seems like Baba Looey's death was his breaking point because now he was sobbing over something he could've avoided.
Quick Draw climbs back into bed. It was a lot bigger now that Baba was gone. Quick Draw has his arms out like Baba is under him. This was how they slept in their bed. If Baba was cold, Quick Draw would hold him closer. Now it looked like Quick Draw was hugging himself.
"Goodnight Baba Looey," Quick Draw said. "Wait… why did I say that?"
Guess he's not used to it yet. Quick Draw turns off the lights and falls asleep. Without Baba snoring under him, the night was deathly quiet.
The next morning, Harvey received a phone call. He picks it up.
"Harvey Birdman, attorney at-" Harvey is suddenly cut off by the person on the other end.
"Hello Mr Birdman" the voice at the other end says.
"Quick Draw?" Harvey said.
"I decided to call off the lawsuit," Quick Draw said. "The kid is still young, I would hate to ruin his life the way he ruined mine. I also decided to start a movement. I call it, Stop the Mosh Pit. where i teach guitar owners how to properly lock away their guitars safely"
"Well, that's good to hear," Harvey said.
"Bless you Mr Birdman" Quick Draw says. He hangs up.
"...I didn't sneeze," Harvey said.
Back at Quick Draw's house, Quick Draw is packing his things in a suitcase. Now that the case was over, he decided to take a vacation. When he gets home, he'll officially begin Stop The Mosh Pit.
Quick Draw picks up Baba Looey's hat, which has been sitting on his nightstand all night next to the photo. He puts the hat onto a vase and then picks up the vase.
"Come on Baba Boy" Quick Draw said. "Let's go on that vacation you wanted to go on"
He kisses the vase, takes his suitcase and leaves.
