A/N: Hello hello hello, we're back again with another chapter of Unbroken, and this is where the fun begins as now we revert to present day. Enjoy my pretties!

Dislaimer: I don't own any of the MCU character, just the o/c's that appear. So far only being Eve and Eden.

Chapter two:

(Eden's pov)

Alexander Pierce and Brock Rumlow were both horribly foul men, I completely and fully detested them both so much so that I fanaticised about the ways I'd get my revenge on them and none of them ended with either walking away from it. I was currently being held at the abandoned shield base that Hydra had decided to move into since I gave Bucky the out he deserved, I'd never forget how I was punished after that little debacle. Also the reason I had a guard who escorted me everywhere I went, just like the one who was escorting me to go and meet the horrid, little man himself. I pushed open the door to his office and stood waiting for him to acknowledge me before I spoke, otherwise I would punished.

"Ah Eden, lovely to see you again my girl." His smile as he spoke made my skin crawl but I pushed down my repulsion down and smiled back at him, damn I really was a good actress.

"Hello Alexander, I heard you had a new mission for me." I mentioned getting straight to the point politely, and he nodded picking up a file from his desk in front of him and handing it over. I moved forward and began to take the file from him but he decided that he would caress my hand, I knew if I didn't allow him to do what he wanted that it would end badly for me, I would be sedated enough to not be able to access my powers and I would have the shit kicked out of me, among other things.

"Yes my dear, you are to make your way to the port of New York where one of my contacts will meet you with a very rare and special artifact that we need to acquire in our fight against the Avengers and Shield." His left eyebrow twitched as he spoke of the artifact, I just thought he was going senile in his old age and brushed it off. Nodding I pulled my hand away from his, opening the file so I could read about the mission. "You are to be there by oh-eight hundred hours tonight, my contact will make contact with you at half past the hour." He told me and I stored all of the information for later on tonight when I needed it. "This contact of mine… he's no longer useful to me once you have acquired the artifact." He finally added, I let out the breath I was holding in and nodded at him.

"Of course Alexander, I will comply." I told him, knowing those were the words he wanted to hear, my eyes flickered back down to the paper I was holding ensuring I had memorised all of the details that I needed before handing it back over to him and retreating to stand by the door.

"Good luck in your mission, I don't need to remind you of what will happen if you don't succeed." He told me and I nodded leaving the room and heading straight back to my own. I lay straight back down on my bed and decided I would take a little nap before the mission required me.

~A few hours later~

I awoke in the darkness, confused as I could have sworn I'd only closed my eyes five minutes previous, my glance at the alarm clock on my table told me that was not the case, I had in fact been asleep for four hours. I quickly jumped up as I needed to get myself ready for my mission, I pulled my hair into a tight, high ponytail and stripped of my standard clothing redressing in my black suit and securing my mask to the bottom half of my face. I pulled on my black combat boots to complete my readiness. Only adding the weapons that had been dropped off and left on my table while I was sleeping, my usual ka-bar knife and the glock-19 I was usually provided with for my missions, not that I really used them but being trained in them came in handy when I needed it. I double checked that I had everything I needed before being escorted to the exit where I needed to leave from. I noticed various other agents gathering around the door waiting.

"About time." Brock Rumlow smirked at me and I sneered at the man, paying him no attention. "Right, everyone head to the trucks and buckle up. ETA is fifteen minutes." He spoke up for everybody who was coming with me on this mission, I narrowed my eyes hating the fact that Rumlow was here with me. I climbed into the truck that he wasn't getting in and sat squished against the door trying not to touch the agent sitting next to me. I gazed out of the window and stared up at the sights of New York at night, I really wished I could be free so I could sit up on any of the rooftops and gaze out into the night as freely as I wanted. Before I knew it we were pulling up at the dock, my brain was screaming at me that something was off here, I pushed away the thoughts plaguing my mind and exited the car. Rumlow rolled his window down and smirked at me.

"Have fun Ghost." He sang as his car peeled away from where myself and the other agents were standing.

"Asshole." I whispered to myself but forced Brock Rumlow from my brain as I turned to look at the port. I huffed, this was going to be fun. I split away from the other agents and went to find the container that I had read about in the file but as soon as I reached it, it was like all hell broke loose. I could hear gun fire from the distance and I rolled my eyes, Alexander Pierce had set me up. What a snivelling little cock. I rushed away from the fighting, trying to find my way out of the maze I had found myself in, this however, was a futile attempt. I used my powers to propel myself onto the top of one of the containers, to try and escape that way but that was no use because all I could see for miles was containers. If I retraced my steps I'd just end up in the middle of the fight and I didn't want that, clearly.

I could hear the falling of the other agents who had been set up just as much as I had, their bodies falling with thuds, I couldn't pretend to be sad about it though as half of them were pure assholes who tortured me one time or another, in truth I was quite happy that whoever was here was taking them out because I couldn't wait for Hydra to be completely annihilated. However, that didn't mean that I wanted to be lumped in with the rest of Hydra, the only reason I had complied for years was to keep my family alive, otherwise I would be dead right now or brainwashed like Bucky. My mind was working a mile a minute trying to figure out a way for me to get out, I could have called on my powers but I didn't want to destroy the whole of the port trying to escape, I looked up at the tallest stack of containers and thought I could propel myself up to them, so I did just that. I ran across the containers jumping from one to the other and just as I was nearing one of the many exits footsteps sounded behind me, before I had time to react a white hot fire erupted in my right shoulder and the force knocked me flat against the roof of the container. I looked to my shoulder to see an arrow that had gone straight through from my back and was sticking through the front of my shoulder.

"I got the ghost guys, on my position." A voice spoke from behind me, quite clearly into his comms, I fought against my brain because whatever was on that arrow it was telling my brain to stop. I forced myself to stand and turn to look at my attacker, realising I was looking at the one and only Hawkeye. "I finally got you, you little shit. That arrow was laced with a slow acting poison." He hissed at me, I gritted my teeth as the pain intensified by the minute. I made one final attempt to escape by jumping from the container and using the bare minimum of my powers to ensure I'd land on my feet, but following right behind me was Hawkeye, who just wouldn't let up as he reached me he threw out a kick and I collided with the side of one of the containers, this pushed the arrow which made my shoulder scream with protest. Tears welled in my eyes at the pure pain and I grunted, willing myself to not scream. I looked up at him and smirked.

"Best you got bird boy?" I chuckled, allowing a false purr to erupt from my mouth, his lip curled in hatred at me.

"Stand down Clint." An authoritative voice called out to him and he instantly moved back, I was definitely thankful that my mask was still attached firmly to my face keeping my identity concealed a little longer, I knew it wouldn't last long. Figures entered my line of vision but my eyes started to become unfocused which meant I couldn't make out the faces of anyone who was stood in front of me. My legs started to give way but strong arms wrapped around me and stopped me from falling.

"Hey.. hey I got you." A voice I knew called out to me, or maybe not called out to me, it sounded further away but maybe that was because of the poison arrow in my shoulder. "It's been a long time ghosty." From the nickname, I instantly knew who was speaking to me and helping me.

"Hey Bucky… I was right to get you out." My words coming out in gasps as my condition clearly worsened, I could feel my power inside of me slowly pushing the poison out and stopping it from killing me. This caused my eyes to refocus and this is when I realised just who I was surrounded by, the group that called themselves the avengers.

"Shut it Ghost, lets call this me repaying the favour." He murmured and I knew what he was saying, I shook my head, I couldn't get out I had my one remaining family member to keep alive. "You're not going back to Hydra Ghost, you're coming with me… with us." He told me and my eyes filled with tears, he reached up and pulled my mask away from my face, "I know you're a good person." I heard quiet but sharp intakes of breaths from the group stood in front of me, they clearly didn't expect The Ghost Assassin to be so young. I opened my mouth to speak but I was cut off when what could only be described as a flying coke can landed right in front of my eyes, the mask melted away instantly and I stared at the man in front of me.

"E-Eden…" He stuttered out my name, his face paling from the shock at finding out I was still alive when being presumed dead after eight years. My heart thundered in my chest, a mixture of the poison and the adrenaline keeping me going.

"Uncle Tony…" I managed out before the world slipped away and everything faded out to black.

A/N: And there we have it, another chapter done and dusted. I hope you all enjoyed the second chapter, with a little bit of action in just to start us off into the ever stressful world of Eden. Also, does anybody have a better way of describing Eden's powers… I feel a little silly keep typing 'I used my powers'. Please leave reviews, favourite and even recommend if you like this fic enough!
