Chapter six:

(Eden pov)

I had opened almost all of the presents that everybody had gotten, flashy technology gifts from Uncle Tony and the bank card with a bank account that would have been my mums from Uncle Tony's dad. Nat and Wanda had given me a bunch of different gift cards for different shops that we were apparently going to visit as soon as we were done gift opening and with breakfast. Bruce and Vision had gone halves and gave me the next eleven books to my Academy series, I had almost passed out with excitement thinking about what would happen in the next instalments of the series, I couldn't wait. Once of the most unexpected gifts was from Clint, who had given me an archery bow similar to his own, with an apology for my shoulder and a promise that we'd train together, I accepted and was actually quite excited about it. Sam had given me a gift card so I could download some music onto my phone and had even given me suggestions on what he would think I would like. My dads however, was still my favourite present because of the amount of meaning behind it and what he said to me afterwards about always being there, was something that had stuck in my head.

The only person I had yet to see, was Bucky. He hadn't materialised downstairs for breakfast and I was a curious being and so I went searching for him, I of course took him a plate of food from breakfast because Uncle Tony was insistent that I don't lift a finger and help with the cleaning today, so that gave me reason to visit Bucky's room. The more I thought about it we hadn't really had much time to talk since I'd defected from Hydra. I made my way to his room and knocked on the door quietly hoping I wasn't intruding. I heard the call to go in from the other side of the door and smiled.

"Morning, I thought you might like some breakfast." I told him holding up the plate, almost like a peace offering even though I'm not sure why it would be a peace offering. He grinned suddenly and moved to take the plate from me and put it down on the desk.

"Happy birthday Eden." He replied and in the place of where the plate was he placed a small box, similar to the one that my dad got me. I smiled and closed my hand around it. "It's not much but I hope you like it." He sounded almost shy and bashful. I shook my head immediately.

"Whatever it is, is more than enough. You didn't need to get me anything at all so I'm grateful regardless." I told him and he motioned for us to both to sit on the sofa, so I could open the box a little easier, I sat next to him and undid the ribbon on the box and took the lid off but a small bracelet inside the box, it was beautiful.

"It's beautiful, I love it." I grinned up at him and held the bracelet between my fingers being extra careful. The bracelet itself was silver and had a small star pendant on it, it fit right in with the theme of the necklace.

"I saw this while I was shopping with your dad and saw that he'd bought you the moon necklace and I wanted to get you something similar, I know your dads already told you the meaning of your necklace but honestly Eden, everything your dad said stands about this bracelet too. As long you're anywhere under the stars, just like your dad I will always be there and will always come for you." He stopped short as if he was going to say something else, "I love you as if you were my own daughter, you're basically my niece at this point." He added, once again going shy. My heart caught in my throat and I genuinely thought it was going to explode.

"Bucky-" I started and he quickly stopped me from talking so he could continue.

"I wish we could have met any other way than we did, in that place. Especially the state that you met me in, I was not a good person. I'm sorry we met the way we did and that you had to see me that way." He told me and I shook my head.

"Bucky, I don't care that I met you that way, I honestly don't. I'm thankful that I met you the way I did because even though you weren't the Bucky you are now, you kept me safe from Rumlow and Pierce, I can never repay you for doing that. That was enough of a gift to last me a lifetime, letting me keep my safety and dignity for a hell of a lot longer than I would have if we hadn't have met. Bucky, you don't know what you've done for me and I'm not ready to talk about it fully yet but just believe me when I tell you, you changed the course of my life. So I love you too Bucky, you were the dad I never had and I'm so privileged that now I get to have you and my actual dad." I told him and he gave me a small smile, holding out his arms for me and I threw myself into them hugging him within an inch of his life.

"I was so scared that you were going to hate me once you'd had your taste of normal life." He told me, I held him a little tighter.

"Is that why you've been avoiding me?" I asked him and he nodded slightly, I huffed.

"Well to make it up to me, you can help me put on my bracelet and you can dance with me at my party tonight." I told him and looked at him.

"Okay deal." He chucked and helped my put on my bracelet. I looked at it on my wrist and the way it glinted in the light.

"You and my dad have officially given me my favourite presents ever." I leaned up to kiss his cheek, "Unfortunately I have to leave now, I've got to go shopping with Nat and Wanda." I smiled and he nodded moving to his plate of breakfast I'd given him. "See you later, wear a suit." I winked and left the room. "FRIDAY will you tell Nat and Wanda to meet me at the car please?" I asked headed to the elevator and allowed it to take me down to the garage.

I was stood at the car waiting for a few minutes before Nat and Wanda appeared, we quickly got into the car and headed straight to the mall.

"So we need to find outfits for tonight, Tony said that we have to wear dresses." Wanda said from the back seat, I grimaced.

"I know for a fact I will look like shit in a dress." I groaned letting my head hit the rest on the back of the chair.

"Hey none of the that!" Nat nudged me, "Especially because after we're done with you, you'll look like you've stepped off the front of a magazine." She smirked and zoomed in and out of traffic. I shook my head, knowing not to test her because she really would have me looking like a new woman. We made it to the mall in no time at all but then Nat was driving at a speed I knew my dad would never, definitely broke the speed limit the whole way and saw not one officer.

We made quick work of heading in and finding the shops we needed straight away, one of which was a fancier dress shop, we all separated looking around at different dresses. I saw Nat pick up a strapless silver dress and Wanda had picked up a beautiful teal coloured dress, they headed to try it on and must have been satisfied because they bought the first one they found. I, however, was having no such luck, I was stuck looking at a row of dresses that were ugly colours, I huffed and circled the room looking for something that caught my eye, until I saw a dress that was on a mannequin at the back of the shop, it was a skin-tight black dress that ended above the knee with a slit that stopped around the hip, it had a square neckline but would show a good amount of cleavage and had thin spaghetti straps. It was perfect and I knew it was the one. I asked the sales attendant if I could have it in a size ten because of the curves I had and she complied quickly and rang me up at the till.

I left Nat and Wanda curious about my dress and I would continue to do so until we began getting ready for the party later on, but they didn't mope around too much because next on the list was shoes and they seemed to know exactly what they wanted to get from the shop. They all but dragged me to the next shop where my eyes widened as I took in the sheer amount of shoes that were on display.

"Right ladies, this is a mission. Find the shoes to match your outfit and then we get out and then Eden can choose where to spend the rest of her vouchers." Nat said with precise organisation and clapped her hands as if we were going to play football. I half expected her to shout 'break'. We split up like we had in the dress shop but it didn't take me half as long to find a beautiful pair of Saint Laurent strappy heels, they were labelled as '105mm Amber Leather Sandals'. They were perfect and would match my dress impeccably, I could also use them for other events that Uncle Tony might drag me into later down the line. I quickly found a size five and took the box to the counter to pay, the sales assistant looked down her nose at me. That was the first strike.

"These shoes are five-hundred and twenty dollars, I'm not sure someone of your age could afford such a thing." She told me in a snotty tone, that was the second strike and I was five seconds from leaping over the counter and showing her what this age could really do. I glared at her while pulling out my black credit card and handed it to her to pay for the shoes. "Oh I'll get them wrapped up right away, would you like a gift bag to go with your purchase today Miss…" She then wound up all but licking my arse because I'd showed I had money.

"Yes I'd love a gift bag thank you." I sniped at her snatching my card back and waiting for her to get back with my shoes all gift bagged up. She returned quickly and handed me the bag to which I quickly it from her with a small glare and as I was walking out I held up my middle finger as I'm sure Uncle Tony wouldn't want to be loaning me lawyers while I was on trial for murdering the horrid sales assistant. I stood outside and waited for Nat and Wanda to come out and meet me, when they did we walked around other stores and I bought a lot, definitely a lot more than I thought I'd be getting out of this trip. I was exhausted once we'd finished but we passed a Starbucks and Nat convinced me that I needed to try an iced coffee with four squirts of caramel in, to which I did and when I say it woke me up.

We headed back home and when we pulled up in the garage I looked at all the bags that were in the back seat of the car and wondered how I'd actually managed to buy so much, but it was definitely well worth it.

"Right, we have six hours until your party so go put your things away and take a quick nap." Nat commanded, I almost asked her who she thought she was talking to, but I realised quickly that it was a good plan and I could really use a nap. I had five thousand bags hanging off my arms as I made my way to my room, on the way I saw Uncle Tony talking with a boy I hadn't seen before, he had a hand on his shoulder as if he was comforting him, I was genuinely confused but quickly recovered when Uncle Tony spotted me.

"Eden, come say hello." He called me over and I honestly wanted to rip my eyes out and roll them across the floor because he could see I was struggling with my bags, I didn't have enough arms. I, however, listened and made my way over and when I got closer, I made eye contact with the boy, his eyes were a gorgeous shade of chocolate brown almost with gold flecks in them, I snapped myself out of my stupor about his eyes. "Eden this is Peter Parker aka spiderman, Peter this is Eden Sinclair-Rogers, my niece and the ghost assassin." He introduced us both and I immediately recoiled when he told Peter I was the ghost assassin.

"Uncle Tony!" I exclaimed at the same time as Peter exclaimed, "Mr. Stark!" He didn't listen to us basically shouting at him.

"Anyway, I was just telling Peter about your party tonight Eden." Uncle Tony eyed me and I glared at him, huffing before straightening out and turning to look at Peter, his chocolate brown eyes staring directly into mine.

"You're welcome to come, if you'd like Peter. It would be nice to have someone who's my age there." I told him honestly and smiled, he blushed instantly and smiled slightly, almost nervously.

"I-I mean that would be g-great… if that's okay with you Mr. Stark?" He turned to Tony, who nodded enthusiastically. "What's the dress code?" He asked and I huffed again.

"I mean I'd probably go with black jeans and converse or vans but with like a white shirt or something." I shrugged, "At least one of us should get to be semi-comfortable." I told him and he nodded. "Speaking of Uncle Tony, why do I NEED to wear a dress?" I asked him and he gulped.

"Oh look at the time, come on Peter we're gonna be late for that thing." He started down the corridor, I rolled my eyes.

"Coward." I called after him, "I'll see you later Peter, it was nice to meet you." I told him and he grinned then which in turn made me smile.

"You too Eden…" He started after Uncle Tony, before turning back to look at me, "Oh and Eden, happy birthday." He told me and I blushed. The ghost assassin actually blushed, I needed to have a word with myself about this shit.

The probability of having an interesting party had increased dramatically now Peter Parker was attending.
