Chapter seven:

(Eden's pov)

I listened to Nat and decided to have a couple of hours nap before I was rudely woken up by Nat and Wanda barging in my room insisting that I 'rise from my pit'. I looked around my room and failed to see 'a pit' it was pristine, I narrowed my eyes and huffed as loud as possible. I covered myself with my blanket in hopes they'd go away, it was ripped away seconds later, I glared at Wanda who was using her powers to move it away from me, I could have counteracted with my own powers but I couldn't be bothered to fight anymore so I got up.

"If we're going all out and getting ready like proper girls then we need some cocktails and some good music." I told them both, Nat and Wanda instantly agreed, Nat asked FRIDAY to order some cocktails from the bar downstairs in the tower, while I found a decent 'get ready' playlist, which had some throwback nineties and some newer music, it was just what was needed to get me in the mood. I flicked my wrist and all of our dresses instantly hung up on a hanger on the clothes rail next to the floor length mirror. Our heels instantly joined them, setting out underneath the dresses in respective order. My door knocked and there were jugs of cocktails lined up on a tray that one of Uncle Tony's robots had collected from the bar, I grinned and used my powers to make the tray float into the room and set down on my desk. I said my thanks to the robot and to FRIDAY and turned to begin getting ready.

"I just thought, if you have the super soldier serum then you can't get drunk." Nat turned to look at me, her eyes narrowing slightly, "Not that you should be getting drunk at this age regardless." She added at the end, I smirked and nodded.

"I know but I like the taste of it." I told her and she smirked and turned around to continue getting out all of the make-up we'd all got.

"Your dress is gorgeous Eden, somehow though I don't think your dad is going to like it." She told me and I nodded, turning to look at the dress in question.

"No he's probably not, but it's the one I liked the most in the whole shop." I answered shrugging slightly, "Besides, it'll be too late by the time we get to the party because I'll be wearing it and once I'm in that dress, there's no way I'm getting out of it." I added and Wanda grinned, laughing slightly.

"Right then ladies, lets start with hair, then make-up and then we'll get dressed." Nat said, she was very organised but then I suppose I'd never really done anything like this. I was under Hydra for many years and the missions I was sent on didn't require me to act like a girly girl. We began none the less, Wanda just wanted her hair to be slightly wavy and so she didn't really need anything doing to her hair and Nat only wanted to keep her hair straight. I scoffed knowing they were doing that so I had to have something done and they both had to mess around with me. They spoke amongst themselves and decided that my hair would look best in big, bouncy brushed out girls, I sat in the chair while Nat curled bigger sections of my hair and Wanda then followed up by adding a roller into it to ensure the curl wouldn't drop before it was time to leave for the party. It took about half an hour to completely get my hair up into the rollers. We decided on doing each others make up. I would do Wanda's, Wanda would do Nat's and Nat would do mine, it was pretty effective because it took me about twenty minutes to complete Wanda's look, I gave her a natural skin base but added all the trimmings e.g. contour, bronzer, blush and highlight. I brushed out her eyebrows and gelled them so they'd stay exactly where I wanted them to, I added a very thin line of eyeliner onto her eye and allowed her to do her own mascara and lipstick knowing she'd probably choose a very pretty nude/pink colour. Wanda then quickly completed Nat's look, it was extremely simple with only the basic base make up, bold eyeliner with a wing and some clear lip gloss just to accentuate her natural lips. Then it was me next, I closed my eyes and allowed Nat to work her magic with my skin only opening my eyes when she needed to add eyeliner and mascara, she added a few hairstrokes to my brows before gelling them where she felt she needed to. She then pulled out a dark red lipliner and liquid lipstick adding that to my lips. She sprayed my face with some setting spray and I was officially done apparently.

Nat and Wanda both took the rollers out of my hair and brushed out my curls on either side, I definitely had a lot of volume but it did look good. "Right, we have fifteen minutes to get dressed, so Wanda you go, then I'll go and then you Eden." Nat directed again, I eyed Wanda who saluted Nat before gathering her dress and heels and stepping into my en-suite bathroom.

"Nat there is a walk-in closet if you wanted to get dressed in there, I don't mind waiting for guys to finish changing before I do." I told her and she nodded, taking her dress and heels into the closet. I looked around my room absentmindedly thinking about how the party was going to go. Was Uncle Tony going to introduce me as the ghost assassin to everybody who was attending, just like he had with Peter. Stupid Spider-boy. Wanda and Nat both walked out of the bathroom and the closet at the same time and my jaw dropped.

"You both look amazing, all eyes are going to be on you guys this evening." I told them and they grinned.

"Are you sure you were an assassin? You're too nice." Wanda asked smirking, I rolled my eyes but laughed.

"I'm ninety-five percent sure, maybe I dreamt it all after all." I giggled and held out my palm showing a purple flame flickering as if it were dancing on my palm. "Maybe not." I closed my fist and the flame disappeared, I grabbed my dress and heels and took them into the closet purely because there was a floor length mirror where I could check how silly I looked before I made a tit of myself. I quickly changed and strapped on my shoes, I gave myself a little countdown so I could turn around and look in the mirror dramatically, when I did turn to look at myself I was astounded. Surely that wasn't me, I didn't even recognise myself.

I took a deep breath and walked out of the closet, Nat and Wanda clapped as if I'd done something to be praised over, when in reality I'd never done anything to be praised over. "Be honest, do I look stupid?" I asked and motioned to myself, they shook their heads almost violently.

"You look beautiful Eden, stop fussing, honestly your dad and Bucky will be doing that enough for you." Nat told me definitely, I shrugged not really believing them fully.

"Thank you." I responded and finished off my cocktail. "We should take a picture before we go down into the madness of the party, just us three." I told them and they readily agreed, Wanda held the camera and we all smiled as she took the photo, I checked what it looked like and it was actually a lovely photo. "Aw I love it." I told them and they both nodded. "Right, lets go then because I know my dad will come for me soon." I told them and we headed from my bedroom to the elevator and asked FRIDAY to take us to the level that the party was on, the elevator shifted and I could feel my nerves kickstart. Nat noticed instantly because she grabbed my hand and linked our fingers, Wanda followed suit and linked our fingers with my other hand. I took a deep breath and when the elevator opened the music was blasting from the speakers, it wasn't too packed but it wasn't like there was only a handful. Luckily we were at the top of a staircase so no one had seen us yet but we would have to descend into the party, I released a shuddering breath.

We stood at the top of the stairs and began our descent into the party, it did look like everyone was having fun but I would definitely need to lock away my feelings in order to get through this, I wasn't used to anything of the sort and so this was completely new.

"Deep breath, you've got this." Nat whispered, I nodded needing to believe her.

"If you need us at any time, we'll be near by." Wanda told me and I smiled at her, nodding before releasing our hands and walking down a little faster. I looked straight ahead at the crowd and realised everyone was looking at me, I instantly blushed but kept my head high, my dad met me at the bottom of the stairs and he lead me away to a quieter area.

"Eden, you look stunning." He told me as he hugged me tightly, I breathed in his scent, it made me feel safe.

"You do look beautiful but I don't like the looks you're getting wearing that dress." Bucky's voice came from behind me, I grinned and turned around to hug him too.

"You came." I smiled and just like my dad's scent, Bucky's made me feel safe too.

"Are you even wearing underwear with that thing, that split is dangerously high." He whispered, I giggled and nodded as I pulled away from him.

"Yes you old man, it's sitting higher on my hip." I told him and shook my head, "Besides you owe me a dance, I believe that was a stipulation from our chat this morning." I smirked and pulled him onto the dance floor, luckily there was a slow song, he held his hands on my waist and I put my hands on his shoulders.

"I'm glad I came, I'm glad I got to witness you having a semi normal life." He told me, I smiled softly at him.

"I'm glad I got you out when I did Bucky, you didn't deserve ninety years worth of fighting, I'm so happy you were able to get help and to become who you were back in the forties." I admitted and he smiled at me leaning in to kiss my forehead. I saw a flash from the corner of my eye, Uncle Tony must have hired a professional photographer, why was I not surprised?

"Well sorry to interrupt but I need to cut in and have a dance with my daughter before they decide to play that newer music." My dad said and Bucky nodded stepping back and allowing my dad to take over. I smiled and assumed the same position with my dad as I had with Bucky.

"You really remind me of your mum tonight, Eden." He told me, his eyes were bright and happy matching the depth of blue my own eyes held.

"I miss her dad, some days before I realise where I am, I think I'm that seven year old who's going to run and wake mum up and then reality sets in and it hits me like a punch to the gut." I admitted, "But I'm so happy that I have you, if I had to continue my existence without anybody, I don't think I could have gone on." I added, "I really love you dad." A singular tear rolled down my cheek and he wiped it away, holding me to him tightly.

"I love you too Eden, more than my own life." He whispered into my hair, I leaned back slightly to look up at him as he was genuinely at least a foot taller than me, when that flash went off again. Thanks to my training it didn't make me flinch. "I need that picture, I'm gonna go track down that photographer because he's disappeared, yet again." My dad chuckled and kissed my forehead before disappearing too, I looked around and saw an open door that looked like it lead onto a balcony. I made a bee-line for that and when I hit the open night air, I breathed a sigh of relief, I shut the door and leaned on the railing to look out over the city. A sudden whooshing noise had me ready with purple emanating from my fingers ready on the defence, until I saw the familiar mask of Spiderman when he'd landed on the railing next to me, he wasn't wearing his usual suit but instead had taken my advice on what to wear to the party, wearing a white button up with the arms rolled up his forearms, black jeans and black and white converse.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you." He jumped down from the railing to stand next to me, I giggled and the purple disappeared.

"Don't worry Parker, you didn't scare me. I was ready to blast you six ways from Sunday." I told him and the eyes of his widened which made me smirk. He pulled off the mask to reveal his face, he ran a hand through his hair and one curl fell perfectly onto his forehead, I had the urge to push it away but I fought it.

"W-well I'm glad you didn't." He stuttered and I giggled, what the fuck was going on with me. "Why are you out here anyway?" He asked, moving to lean on the railing next to me, I assumed my previous position.

"Hiding mostly." I answered honestly, he looked at me quizzically, "This whole normal teenage girl isn't me, I've never had it and I don't know how to do." I explained, admitting truths to a complete stranger. "I mean this dress isn't me at all." I motioned to myself, more so the dress.

"I think you look beautiful Eden." He told me and instantly blushed, I locked eyes with him and blushed myself.

"You don't look so bad yourself Peter." I was already blushing but I definitely think my whole body was bright red. He smiled kindly at me and I returned his smile. "Do you maybe want to head in there with me… to dance?" I asked shyly, this whole shyness was never me, I had no clue what was happening.

"I'd love to." He told me, grinning at me. I couldn't help but smile at his enthusiasm, it was endearing. He held out his hand to me, I took it after a few seconds and he began leading me back inside, we headed straight for the dancefloor. He put his hands on my waist and I put mine on the back of his neck, we were dancing extremely close. I felt like everyone's eyes were on us.

"Everyone's watching us…" I whispered feeling extremely self-conscious, looking into his gorgeous brown eyes. He peeked around and confirmed they were indeed watching us. "I'm definitely no good in the spotlight, I'd prefer to stick to the shadows… like a ghost." I told him and he nodded.

"I completely get it, I'm not used to being in the spotlight either." He whispered back to me, "You think everyone will remember my face if I put my mask back on right now?" He asked smirking, I laughed, imagining him doing it and everyone being mystified.

"They'd be scared if I put mine on so maybe we should." I told him, he grinned at me and I smiled back up at him, there was a bit of a height difference between us, he was very clearly nearly six foot and I was five six with my heels on, but I still had to look up slightly. Just as we were smiling, the camera flash went off next to us, now that was definitely a picture I wanted. I was so thankful to Uncle Tony in that moment for being so lavish.

My life was definitely going to get a lot more interesting now Peter Parker had been introduced to it and I was looking forward to every second of it.
