Chapter 1
"This place sucks" Huffed a small orange clad blond child "The Old Man sucks" he ranted further.
The fairly diminutive child continued to grumble to himself as he walked with a forward roll to his shoulders and arms crossed in irritation.
"Old bastard coulda at least taken me for ramen" the boy spat, rightfully angry. It was his birthday for Log sakes.
As he continued to mutter to himself, he paid no mid to the growing shadows as the sun set or the hateful glares he received from those around him. To him the obvious animosity made no difference, their hate wasn't worth his time.
"Honestly don't know why I stick around this hell hole" he more stated than asked.
He knew the reason. As he had grown-up an attention starved child, he had clung to what ever source of kindness he had receive. Even if it was only the aging Shadow of Fire or the father daughter duo of his favorite ramen stand. So tight was his death grip on those few lights in the ebon abyss of his seclusion that they had formed his life choices for him. He loved ramen because he couldn't conceive of a food that conveyed more love. His favorite color a neon orange because in filled his heart with warm memories. His choice to be a ninja because the pride he felt in his "Grandpa" was all eclipsing. He had yet to attend the Academy yet as he was too young but he was sure that the ninja instructors there would be just as lovely as those funny masked ninja that played games with him late at night when he was kept awake but the night terrors of giant monsters and a village on fire.
Truly ignorant were his fellow villagers and any outside forces that would seek to hold the power of the strongest jinchuuriki. All one really need was to show overwhelming love and affection, be it real or fake, and this one would be helpless putty in their hands. So eager in his want to prove himself that he would even steal from the Hokage. So short-sighted mortals tended to be.
Before his mood could worsen a half full bottle of unidentified contents can careening into his peripherals and smashed him in the face.
"Son of a bi-" he hissed clutching his face before he was cut off with a swift shin to the gut.
"Shut it ya fucking demon" groused a drunk heavy-set man.
Before the boy could right himself for his position on all fours he was kicked again, this time punting him a short distance into the adjacent alley.
"Ya know, you filth I waited a long time for this" the drunkard slurred as he flowed after his target with a slight stagger.
As the boy readied a smart-ass retort, well used to the occasional beating, he was blindsided by a saya from a katana across his face. Obviously the had come to the annual festival with some protection.
"You're a smug little shit" the man spat as he drew his blade and tossed the saya to the side "You parade in that human skin like you are free from the sins you have committed, like because the Hokage favors his little attack demon that you are free of any wrong doing"
Many a time had he been called a demon and other less inane slurs but this was the first time anyone had accused him of a crime against the village or its inhabitants.
"Well I'll show you" he slashed and the blond screamed "I give you what you deserve ya family killing bastard!" the rage had burned through the intoxication and fueled the man as he began to slash at the child with violent abandon.
After he had exhausted himself through swing his bladed weapon and screaming the man lowered his blood-soaked tool of murder and slumped against a wall.
"I did Kiyako" he sighed in victory as tears slide down his eyes "I avenged you and Himiki"
The man smiled in victory before I bright blue light caught his attention. As he turned his head towards the mangled body of Konoha's jinchuuriki he saw it engulfed in sapphire blue flames. Before he so much a shout in shock the small fire erupted into a raging inferno that consumed the man and a Anbu sprinting to the location to intercept and attack on the village.

As Naruto slipped tired into the void of death, he suddenly felt himself falling from its grasp and into another place altogether. He really couldn't bring himself to care how he knew what that felt like or where he was head. As the darkness of the void abated and could actually see his surroundings, he still couldn't rouse any meaningful emotions on his new situation. He remembered what had led him to this point, the pain, the anger, the incomprehension of what had led to his attack. At the end though he felt it all leak away into a crushing hole of apathy. In the end it didn't matter who he was or what he did he had been tried for a crime he didn't commit and executed by those he was supposed to call family through the will of fire. For all the love the Old Man had preached it seem to wither in the storm of ire the "Most Peacefully" ninja village. In the end he just couldn't bring himself to care anymore.
Surfacing from his inner emptiness he surveyed his surrounds and found them to be quite alien. The ground was comprised of bleach white octagon floor tiles that stretched in all directions unto the horizon on disturbed in their impossible uniformity by massive obsidian spires that jutted through up from under them. The tiles, while shattered in these places, where not throw about but rather clung in defiance to the spires that would seek to destroy the white landscape they created. The shy while beautiful was even more eldritch in its appearance. It seemed to be one single massive amethyst cloud that stretched the entire visible atmosphere that was every shade of violet and also on at the same time.
Turning from the sky with a headache brought on by the inability of his mortal mind to understand what it was see in the "sky" he searched in every direction for a clue to where he was. It was only in this moment did he notice the complete lack of sound or actual light in the area. He was just able to "see" his surroundings but couldn't hear anything, not even his own breathing or shuffle of his feet.
With a soundless sigh he plopped into a cross legged seated potion content to wait for the end of this place and what may come after. It was beyond comprehension to perceive how long or short a time passed before a soft voice drifted over the plane.
"Freshly arrived in strange land and already content to wait until oblivion?" a distinctly feminine voice drifted melodiously in the air.
Naruto, while readily admitting the voice was beautiful, continued to sit in silence under the weight of his empty heart.
"Are you so broken that you are beyond feeling?" the soft chimes of the voice asked.
For all his being was worth Naruto could only muster a shrug in response.
"Truly a grievous loss upon the world" tone the speaker as an otherworld woman step out from behind a spire that Naruto was sure the voice couldn't have come from.
"Such an endless well of pain once filled your heart young Naruto, where has it gone" The woman stated as she began to walk closer to him.
As she drew no more than a few feet from him Naruto felt something thump in his chest, the first feeling since his supposed death, and words breathlessly escaped his mouth.
"Beautiful" he whispers.
"Why thank you Naruto" the woman smiled with the mouth of a shark, teeth all viciously sharp and fit perfectly together to make an almost solid wall.
"I do try to look my best when meeting with beings that are potentially important to me" she blink prettily at him.
It was in this moment, gazing into her glowing amethyst eyes that he realized that the sky of this place would always be trying in vain to match the unrivaled beauty of her irises highlighted against her black sclera. It was also as drew with in arms reach towered over his sitting form that he could appreciate her staggering height. Easily the tallest person he had ever saw, well over the weird green spandex wearing ninja's proud six feet stature. So total was her ethereal beaty that even her pale granite grey skin only served to accentuate the black luster of her lips so in contrast to the flawless white of her teeth and the ebony locks that flowed from her head. Naruto guessed she liked black as even her extremely formfitting dress, that might as well have been painted on, was a dark matt black with a collar full of black feathers that left the beauty of the bird they came from to the imagination. Snapping out of his awe at the presence of this woman he asked the all-consuming question.
"Who-Who are you?" his voice was small but easily heard in this void of sound.
"Now that's the question isn't it Naru-kun" she smiled at the indignant face he made at her pet name "To some a myth, to others a goddess, though to you it is undecided yet"
"What do you mean? Wait are you really a goddess" his second question all most eclipsed the first in it speed to leave his mouth.
"Yes and no, right now I really don't exist at all outside of being the corporal manifestation of an ideal but hopefully you'll soon help me change that" she tapped a finger to her lips as she spoke.
"How can I help a god?" Naruto asked in confusion, truth be told to many big words had slipped by his understand and he was going on what he did understand.
"Well to put it simply I am just a fledgling goddess, a newborn if you will" she explained "and as such I really don't have much power or influence on the world"
Naruto nodded in understanding as he had caught most of what she was trying to explain.
"Being weak like this is the most vulnerable gods can really be, as they can either expand their reach and gain more power for it or fade back into the nothing we are spawned from" she let a slow sigh as she finished her explanation.
"How do you make your arms longer to reach more?" Naruto asked innocently causing the goddess to giggle, a noise that would woe the hearts of all mortal men.
"I don't make my arms longer Naru-kun, it means I have more people that believe in me and worship me" She was still smiling after his cute question "Worship gives me power, makes me more 'real' I guess you could say"
"Oh… well how do I help make you more real then?" he tilted his head much like an inquisitive fox might, to the goddess to was just too cute.
"Most gods come to a group with out a god and grant them a boon in return they spread the faith" she lightly explained "other that prefer quality over quantity, like me, makes one mortal their avatar"
"What's a-vi-tur?" Naruto tried to ground out the correct pronunciation of the word.
"Avatar, and its basically an embodiment of that god's will on earth, the physical representation of the god's power and purpose" she giggled again at how he had said avatar but carried on with the expansion of the idea behind the word.
"Oh, that's actually kinda awesome, sooo…." He didn't want assume that she was talking about him but secretly hoped she was, I mean what kid wouldn't want to be what amounted to a god in the flesh.
"Soooo…." She mimicked how he drawled out the end of his pseudo question "I want you to be my avatar Naru-Kun"
Naruto was honestly stunned to be asked something so might from a goddess, only on question rang in his head.
"Why me?" he asked with wide unbelieving eyes.
"I'll be honest with you Naruto" she said dropping the pet name "I'm the goddess of pain and suffering, that means my avatar must be pain incarnate, agony corporatized" here she frowned, worried she was losing his interest in her offer but forged on.
"To even be capable of the task the mortal in question has to have a soul so saturated in suffering that in is fueled by it" Naruto was growing wary of where this conversation was going.
"Truth be told you are the only one who capable of this, one who's first moments were of pain, one who has lived a life time of pain just in five years and is not broken but driven by it" the goddess tried to placate the boy's worries.
"I am not an evil creature, I am just what I am" she tried to explain "I can still love, feel happiness, it just that I exist to bring pain and suffering and feed on the agony of the world"
Naruto really didn't know what to make of this not "dark goddess" in front of him but a small hope pushed past his doubts to the front of his mind.
"Could…could you love me?" he asked like the small tortured and abuse child that he was.
"Oh, silly Naru-Kun" she smiled as Naruto's heart started to crack and he prepared himself to embrace oblivion after he refused her offer.
"Of course, I would love you" she smiled as his emotions did a hard turn "As my avatar I would love you in a way no mortal could fathom and that could never be replicated by any other"
Naruto hardly care what her purpose was in existence and was fully ready to accept anything she would have of him before she sealed his fate tighter that anything could.
"As my avatar you will possess all my heart, you will be my first and only loved one" she said sweetly with her hands clasp over her heart "Naruto, you will be mine and me yours, forever"
Naruto could literally move to his feat no quicker or speak his acceptance any faster.
"Yes, I'll be you ava-thingy!" he proclaimed with all his being.
"Avatar, Naru-Kun" she corrected with another giggle "then it's time I told you my name, my followers will know me as Jashin-sama, but to you Jashi-Chan will do"
"Jashi-Chan!" Naruto called out in glee as he hugged her legs.
Will yet another giggle she gently pushed him back so she could finalize the creation of her new avatar.
"Naruto stand still this should only take a moment" she said softly and before he could respond she simply stuck her hand into his chest like it was a pool of water.
As she pulled her hand back, holding an orange fire the size of an apple, he tried to ask what was happening before he froze as a sense that he had just lost something import crushed his ability to thing. Paying Naruto's new feelings no mind Jashin continued unobstructed. Closing her hand around the flame tightly an agonized scream echoed out from it as fans of orange flames shot out from between her fingers. The shrieking continued on for a time before it faded out and the orange was overtaken by a blue edged in black. When Jashin opened her hand the old flame was gone now replace by a new slightly larger one. As her hand fully splayed open the flame leap back towards Naruto's chest and sunk back in much the same way that Jashin's own hand had.
"Wha-" was all Naruto could get out before the world he knew was consume in a torrent of flames.
Jashin watched on with a warm smile as a vortex of black rimmed sapphire fire ascended into the sky. Through it all Naruto was overtaken by the most euphoric feeling he had ever experienced as even his mortal soul was consumed by the flames and changed to better suit its new purpose. He distinctly felt as something was burnt away by the flames around his naval. As the fire began to die down Jashin could only whisper idly to herself.
"I hope he doesn't get in to much trouble before he comes to his senses" she mused before vanishing from the strange in-between world.
\/\\/\\/\\/\\/\\/\\/\\/\\/\\/\\/\\/\\/\\/\\/\\/\\/\\/\\/\\/\\/\\/\\/\\/\\/
Back in that alley where fate had led Naruto to our favorite goddess of torture several Anbu squads and a fair number of on duty jonin had arrived to the sight of a blue flame vortex spiraling into the sky. As the flames subsided as single figure could be made out with in. Finally extinguished the small figure became visible. The slate grey haired person, while short in stature, cut an imposing figure. His skin was a sickly grey like that of a corpse but was at odds with his well-defined musculature. His teeth, barred in a manic grin, reminded many of the seven swordsmen of the mist or like that of a great white shark. His most eye-catching features were the bandages that covered the right side of his face that wrapped around his neck and connected to those completely covering his right arm. The other striking feature was his one visible eye, a bright sapphire iris that seemed to move as if it was the surface of a flame glaring out in psychotic delight.
"I feel so strong!" Naruto declared in delight throwing his arms out to the side drunk on his new power before something caught the corner of his eye.
There, still slumped against a charred wall, was the blacked skeleton of his assailant. While a viscous snarl Naruto smashed the skull to pieces against the wall.
"Fucking bastard!" he exclaimed before turning to the gathering of ninja "The fuck you looking at?"
That was about all one of the few chunin present could take before he flung a kunai at the boy. It sailed through the air before colliding with the middle of Naruto's forehead. The collision knocked his head back, kunai embedded shallowly and sticking straight up in the air. As his head tilted back to look at the ninja even the more experienced of the force felt their eyes widen.
"Is that all you got?" Naruto asked with a sick grin and a shine in his eye.
Spurred on by the boy's provocation the chunin along with a few of his collogues launched a wave of shuriken at the unfazed child. As the bladed weapons pierced his body Naruto shuddered in pleaser where their should be pain.
"Oh! That's good, given me more" Naruto grinned with need, like a freshly addicted addict.
"Report" a strong authoritarian voice called.
"The fuck Old Man?" Naruto called in indignation "Couldn't take me for ramen on my birthday, but can come see a light show?"
The Hokage was taken aback at this individual he had clearly never seen before, but stranger had happened and one should never rule out any possibility.
"Naruto?" the aged leader asked with an air of uncertainty.
"Well duh" Naruto said in exasperation "Who else would I be?"
Clearly Naruto had failed to notice his new appearance.
"Stand down" the Hokage ordered as he approached the boy who was now pulling out the shuriken with uncaring flicks of the wrist.
"Na-Naruto what has happened to you my boy?" the fire shadow asked, mildly disturbed by the happy noises Naruto was making as he caused larger wounds during his extracting of the throwing weapons from his body.
"Huh?" Naruto asked lamely as he was distracted by the new sensations "Oh that's a long story old man"
"Very well I think a trip to the hospital for an exam is in order" the Hokage declared both to make sure the boy was physically well as well as confirm his identity.
While the aged ninja wanted to believe what he was present he didn't get this far without scrutinizing every piece of information.
"Yeah yeah, what ever you say" Naruto replied flippantly "But after can we get some Ichiraku's?"
"Or course Naruto" Conceding the very Naruto-esque request he had more hope that this boy was in fact Naruto, while simultaneously dread what could have cause such a drastic change in him.
With several Anbu following, they were headed towards several medical ninja who would have many more question that answers when present with the conundrum that was Naruto's new existence.
\/\\/\\/\\/\\/\\/\\/\\/\\/\\/\\/\\/\\/\\/\\/\\/\\/\\/\\/\\/\\/\\/\\/\\/\\/
Amidst the chaos he had brought the medical corps Naruto sat in a room with the Hokage and Konoha's senior medic ninja. The boy was siting on a hospital cot, casually swing his legs of the side, while the medic was sighing and rubbing her for head in exasperation.
"What is the verdict?" the Hokage asked with a frown, clearly not like the response he had seen to Naruto's condition.
They could still hear the ninja outside arguing over how they couldn't cut the bandages that cover part of Naruto or his new regeneration worked.
"As I'm sure you can hear from my collogues outside there where several complications" the tired medic replied before launching into an explanation she flipped through the pagers on her clip board.
"To start after running some DNA tests, I can say with out a shadow of a doubt this boy is Naruto Uzumaki" she was stated.
"Yeah, I coulda told you that" ignoring Naruto she continued.
"Honestly I can't tell you what cause his transformation, it is conclusively not 'foxy' in nature" she gave the Hokage a sidelong glance at the mention of Naruto's tenet but Naruto just looked confused.
"All we can really discern with certainty is that the way Naruto perceives pain has changed, normally this would cause complication but with his new ability to regenerate might end up a boon to his ninja career" Sarutobi looked intrigued at this, and sense his impeding question she answered preemptively.
"No we don't know the extent that he can regenerate but it seem to be nearly instantly and honestly short of some tests that could prove fatal I don't think we will find were it fails" the Hokage hummed and rested his chin in his hand as he puffed on his pipe in thought.
"We have so far been unable to remove those wraps or really due any kind of noticeable damage to them but we have discerned that there is some kind of seal array on them, which is the ONY seal we could find" here she paid special emphasis to only and pointedly ignored that the Hokage was smoking in her hospital, really who was going to tell the might God of Shinobi he could smoke anywhere he wanted in his own village.
"The only seal you say" the Hokage furrowed his brow, maybe the fox had made an escape attempted and the seal reacted to restrict it further.
Honestly the Fourth's seal was to complex for even the one who taught him seals in the first place so there was no real way of knowing.
"Yes, it is inscribed so as to form a circumscribe triangle made of three scythes overlapping" she continued.
A triangle in a circle, that sounded familiar but more so the scythes made sense to Sarutobi that it was the seal powered by the Shinigami.
"Until more tests can be administered that is all we have to go on at the moment" the senior medic concluded.
"Yes, more tests to be sure but for now I'm sure Naruto is tired and wants to put today behind him" The Hokage nodded, reassured this wasn't the fox taking control by the assessment of the senior medic "We will talk more on this tomorrow Naruto but for now go home and get some rest"
"Hey! You promised me Ichiraku's!" Naruto shouted accusingly.
"So I did" Sarutobi chuckled good naturedly "How about this then, we will have a meal there tomorrow as we talk hmm?"
"Fine I let you off the hook this time old man" Naruto huffed before getting up and jumping out the window in the room "See ya tomorrow!"
"He really hates hospitals, doesn't he?" the female medic asked with a chuckled that the Hokage matched.
"That he does" With that the Hokage dismissed himself to head back a finish some last-minute paperwork so he could head home himself.
Waiting to find out the extent of what had happened till the next day would be a decision that Sarutobi would come to regret for a long time coming. He had failed to foresee just how much chaos Naruto would be able to sow in just one day. Tomorrow would greet the old and tired leader of Konoha with a veritable wave of madness and discord. One thing was for sure the great tree of Konoha would weather the storm brewing but would be forever changed but the newly born avatar of Jashin.
