It was time to go back to Hogwarts. Many young witches and wizards were heading their way toward Platform 9 ¾ to get on the train back to the school, and this was no exception for Harry Potter. The Dursley's dropped him off at the station and sped off as quickly as they could. Harry, used to this kind of behavior, made his way easily to the platform and got on the train. Inside, he went looking for a compartment he could share with Ron and Hermione. He had only spoken to them through letters all summer, since Dumbledore was not letting him go to the Weasley's this summer.

He found an empty compartment, put his luggage away, and sat down. Soon after the train started moving and Harry waited impatiently for his friends to come back from their prefect duties.

In the meantime, Draco, who had decided not to be a prefect this year, was pacing nervously around his compartment full of Slytherins.

"What are you doing Draco?" Pansy asked, "Sit down!"

"I cant, I'm thinking!" Draco snapped, "Goyle! Open the window, I need some fresh air."

"Are you alright?" a concerned Pansy asked, "You're acting very strange."

"What do you want Pansy?" Pansy was about to answer but Draco cut her off, "Other than for me to sit down!" he said. Draco was frustrated that Pansy wouldn't leave him alone. Pansy had been pestering him all summer to go out with her but Draco didn't like her like that. He never had.

Pansy didn't respond.

"Fine, if you're sick of me pacing around, I'll just go somewhere else." Draco didn't give her time to respond and he left the compartment.

What was going on in Draco's mind was something he didn't want to tell anyone, except for one person. Harry Potter.

His thoughts were something he had never thought of before. Something he didn't fancy talking about, but it needed to be said. Draco had decided before leaving all his friends that he would need to tell this to Harry… but he couldn't let his friends know.

Draco wandered around the train, looking in every compartment for Harry. He soon found him, relieved to see that he was alone. Draco knocked on the door.

Harry said "Come in," without looking to see who it was. When he did look however, his attitude changed. "What do you want?" he asked rather rudely.

"Shut up, Potter. Look, we need to talk." Draco said.

Reluctantly, Harry replied, "Fine, what is it?"

"If I bore you then I'll get out of your way. Don't interrupt me, I want to finish what I need to say. I'm the same I was when we first met, and now I feel you're pulling away. So just give me the word and I'll leave today."

"What are you going on about?" Harry asked, extremely confused.

"But," Draco continued, "if you want me to I'll be the one for you. Maybe I can save your life. At times you've hated me, but isn't that how love should be?"

"Er, Malfoy?" Harry asked.

"Don't you know me?" Draco questioned, "I'm helpless without you!"

"Malfoy!" Harry yelled.

"What?" Draco asked, hoping he would hear what he wanted to hear.

"That's, er, nice that you feel that way but," Harry started.

"We're standing right behind you," both Ron and Hermione finished.

Draco became red hot in the face. "Bloody hell, Potter, you couldn't have said something sooner?" he yelled.

"No, it was funny seeing their expressions behind you," Harry laughed.

Draco took a deep sigh. 'It was never meant to be this way,'' he thought. And, with that, he stormed out of the compartment and went back to his Slytherin buddies.
