"Ah-Ah-Ah-Ah"
"Ah-Ah-Ah-Ah"
"Ah-Ah-Ah-Aaaahhhh-Ah-Ah"
That voice, why does it sound so familiar? In more ways than one, with the actual sound and the one singing it.
"Agnarr!"
It's Iduna.
Eyes now open wide, Agnarr wakes up. His head hurting more than any hangover he's ever had, and combined. Not that he had many, of course. To be King, is to also drink responsibly. But that's not the point right now, Agnarr shakes his head to refocus. He uses all the strength he has to push himself off the ground. It took awhile, but he never got up, he was too exhausted, too weak, and injured.
'But how?' Agnarr wondered, he then recalled the past events.
"The waves are too high!"
"IDUNA!"
"AGNAR-"
'IDUNA!? Where are you?' Agnarr thought as it only took a single memory to at least get him standing. He frantically searched around, and took note of his surroundings as well.
Rather strangely, he's in a cave. Water washing up and around his feet, Agnarr now realizing how wet he is. Looking to his right, seeing how they were at the end of a river, an underground river. Or was this the beginning? The floor, cold stone, the area around them had bits and pieces from their ship, yet strangely not enough to count for their entire ship. There were only wooden boards, chips, and pieces no bigger than a standard wooden barrel. Actually, the biggest thing from their ship are actually some barrels from said ship. That unfortunately wasn't the only thing scattered around him.
His people, his crew, no… his friends. Their bodies laying lifelessly around him. Where was he?
"AGNARR!" The calling of his wife caught his attention, as he turned to meet her. She was disheveled, her clothes torn, she was bruised, but thankfully no worse. Her tone, one of desperation, seeking comfort after the tragedy that had befallen them.
"Iduna!" He called out to her, as he stood up and slowly made his way to her. Although he was mostly fine, the majority of his body definitely felt sore.
But something was amiss. He knew when he took another glance at his wife. Her eyes, panic, there's danger.
"AGNARR BEHIND YOU!"
His head like a swivel, turned to meet whatever was behind. But before he could see…
*BAM*
A rifle butt to the head.
A King needs to know how to fight. When all your guards and soldiers have failed, the King is the last soldier a Kingdom has. Months of training with the Captain of the Guard, and his Official Guard, Destin Mattias have prepared him for a situation like this. With all the training, from swordsmanship, to guns, he mostly knew how to fight, and how to take hits. So he perfectly knew how a butt of a rifle felt from any side of his head.
"AGNARR!"
He was back on the ground, his head feeling worse and now numb at some areas, especially where he was hit. He watched with blurry vision as mysterious people with odd looking metallic guns were moving towards his wife, his Queen, the mother of his daughters.
"Get away from me!"
They held her by the arms, she tried to fight back, but was already too weak to fend them off.
"Iduna…" Agnarr tried to call out to her, but was too weak to be louder than a whimper.
They dragged her to him, throwing her down with him.
"Oh no…" She said as she examined her husband, her King, the father to her daughters.
"Well, well, what do we have here?" A voice said as they both turned to the source. A man in apparel they don't recognize. The man looked as if he was from Norway, much like they were. His long hair tied in a braid, a long beard, with a dirty blonde hair colour. On his right hand, a metallic pistol. He crouched down to their level.
"Lemme guess, a Royal couple from a small Kingdom, travelling to, hm… maybe a wedding in another kingdom?" His expression, a curious smug, he knew what he was saying. What shocked the King and Queen was actually what he said. It was the exact excuse they gave to Elsa and Anna.
The man stood up. "Well you know, technically, both of you are supposed to be dead…" The man aimed the pistol in their direction. Both the King and Queen flinched, terrified at the same thought, of not seeing their family together, ever again.
But there was no gunshot.
They both looked at the man above them, who now had a small smile.
He continued. "…but maybe, fate has other plans for you."
He ordered his men to place bags over their heads, dragging them off out the cave they were in, their fates remaining unknown.
"WAIT… my parents, they're still alive!?"
It has only been a month for Elsa. A month ever since she officially took up the mantle of the fifth spirit. With that, its been two weeks since her younger sister, Anna, took the throne and became the new Queen of Arendelle. They're still struggling to find a steady routine between work and family, but nevertheless both are happy at the changes made since their (as Olaf likes to say), 'life changing experience in the enchanted forest.'
It was one of those rare moments for Elsa to actually relax on her own. Between balancing the Four Spirits, the Northuldra, Arendelle and Anna, that left little room for her own time. With the free time she had at that moment, meant she could freely explore Ahtohallan at her own leisurely pace. Remembering the first time she found this icy home, her own mother showed her how Ahtohallan was calling out to her. That she herself, Elsa, is the fifth spirit, the icy glue that united the Spirits and people together.
The thought of her own mother made Elsa feel extra special and bold. Her own memories of her parents were not enough for her, she wanted to see them again. So hours passed, recalling how Agnarr and Iduna met, the battle in the enchanted forest, their coronations, their time with her and Anna. Then the last moment that Elsa struggled to watch… their death.
Or so she thought.
"WAIT… my parents, are still alive!?"
Elsa had to step away for a moment, trying to comprehend the twist that was shown to her. All this time, all the grieving, all the hardships, all the she and Anna wanted to see them again. A rush of thoughts came crashing down to her as she looked back at the misty image in front of her. Of her parents being dragged off by some strange men.
She wanted to tell Anna the good news, yet she also needed to know what happened to her parents. It wouldn't do Elsa or Anna any good if they found out that they were gone later on.
"Show me the most recent memory you can show me of my parents." But nothing happened. Usually Ahtohallan would be quick to respond but at this case, it didn't.
"Please, my parents, I need to know if they're still out there. I want to rescue them if need be." Elsa begged, and Ahtohallan answered. But not the way she thought.
The icy dome that was playing all of her parent's memories swirled around her, and expanded out to the familiar snowy landscape of memories. She was rather familiar with this room, familiar enough to know that there's a new inclusion to the room.
Maneuvering around the snowy yet moving sculptures of memories past, she made her way to a new room in Ahtohallan. She was met with a pitch black room, surrounded by walls made of black ice, due to the dark rocks beneath their surfaces. The only light source is a single beam of light in the middle of the room, shining onto the only ice sculpture she has ever come across so far in Ahtohallan.
The ice sculpture, is that of a man she has never met. His clothes is strange, with many pockets and satchels. He has a helmet on, but not like any helmet she has ever seen, and he was carrying a strange gun she has never seen before as well. It reminded her of the guns she saw the strange men using when they took her parents.
"Who are you?" Elsa asked to no one in particular. But at the question, a the familiar snowy mist formed around the room.
"Are his memories going to show me what happened to my parents?" She asked, but remembered she was practically alone in Ahtohallan. The icy image fully formed as Elsa cautiously gave her fullest attention to the memory that is playing.
"Ah-Ah-Ah-Ah…"
There it is again. Wait for it…
"Ah-Ah-Ah-Ah."
That sound. He's been hearing it ever since he got to Norway. He tried to report it, but no one had ever heard it. The best explanation that was given to him, was that it was simply the wind. Apparently, its common in Norway for the wind to sound exactly like someone singing or vocalizing somewhere in the distance. That or one Norwegian soldier had told him that maybe it was someone performing a sort of kulning, an herding call used for livestock.
Whatever it is, he can't deny that it's a rather unsettling sound to constantly hear. Either the winds in Norway has taken a very mythically and creepy siren approach. Or someone is mistaking him and his team as cows. Either way, the fact that he constantly hears it doesn't make him comfortable.
*TUNK*
A small piece of ice hit his helmet, returning him to the task at hand.
"Come on rookie, this icy cliff won't climb itself!"
Speaking of comfortable, its doesn't help that his current predicament is also not making him the most comfortable at the moment. The distance singing isn't helping either.
"Come on Rian, the base is just on top, the rest of the team and NORSOF are already in position. We just gotta get up there before that snow storm is on top of us. You stuck down there?"
Ripping his attention away from where he heard the distant singing, Rian looks up to his team leader. "I'm fine, just thinking…"
"Thinking eh? This wouldn't be about that singing you reported when we arrived in Norway."
Rian cocked an eyebrow. "I'm pretty sure I only complained about that once, and that was the report. You make it sound like I've been annoying everyone about it, sir."
His team leader only laughed. "It was just a guess Jayce. To be honest, at this altitude I wouldn't be surprised if you heard a singing-like sound. Some crazy ice formation, along side a good gust of wind, it could whistle through said formation. Maybe creating that singing you're hearing."
"So you're hearing it too then?"
"Maybe not now, and definitely not before."
"Why not?" Rian prodded.
"Because I was too busy climbing a damn cliff in the side of a fiord Rian! Now stop asking questions and get your ass up here! We got a mission to do!" His team leader didn't shout it, but his volume was loud enough to get his point across.
Rian picked up the pace, using his two ice axes to scale the side of the fiord. It took awhile to actually scale, due to how physically exhausting it is, and how you have to be acutely aware of where you're planting said axe. But Rian took it in stride, until he was near the top, and beside his leader. Panting at the rigorous task, they looked each.
"So, remind me what we're doing here again?" Rian asked with a few pants in between.
"Weren't you listening to the briefing?"
"I was, but a reminder wouldn't hurt. Especially if I forgot some of the more minor details."
His team leader sighed. "Well, as a show of goodwill and collaboration over our lovely nation and Norway. They asked our help to reclaim a military installation from a supposed terrorist group that has taken control of it. Spectre, Phantom, and Wraith are providing overwatch of the base. NORSOF are already in position near the base to plant explosives and prepare ambush sites." He continued to climb, now climbing over the edge, back on horizontal ground. Rian followed suit, and was assisted to get back on his feet.
With that, and weapons at the ready, they kept moving. "Meanwhile, Shadow and Banshee are with that merc, Stalheimer, to find whoever is in charge of this group of terrorist, our HVT. While we get the special task of finding and securing confidential intel."
"And when can I get a cool code name?" Rian asked.
His squad leader looked back at him, while they maintained a brisk pace. "Two missions with us is not enough to certify yourself as one of us, yet. You've been doing well though, keep it up, and you'll be there in no time rookie."
Rian sighed, his team leader noticed. His first mission, the mission before this wasn't exactly easy. "Hey, if it helps out, I already know what your code name will be." Rian certainly heard him, as he looked up.
"Geist." He smiled. "Pretty cool, right?"
Rian simply smiled. "Maybe not as cool as yours, Revenant."
"Maybe, but anyways." Revenant then gestured them forward. "Snowstorm's gonna be on top of us soon, wind's picking up. Let's go."
With that, the wind really did pick up. Vision clarity is barely a couple metres ahead, they're moving slowly due to how deep the snow is. Along with the strong wind, the weather conditions almost brought them down on a few short occasions. Its cold, not that Rian minded of course. He preferred it more than the heat, although the only ironic thing about it is that he loved hot showers.
Revenant brought them to a halt, as he brought a finger to his ear. "Phantom, this Revenant, can you tell me what's ahead of me."
"Phantom to Revenant, you're in position. Couple metres ahead of you is your insertion point."
Revenant looked behind to Rian. "Hear that? Weapons hot."
"Ah-Ah-Ah-Ah."
Rian sighed as he look off in the distance. "Really?"
"Yes really rookie. Get your head in the game." With that, Revenant kept going.
"No, I wasn't talking to- ah, damn it." Rian shook his head, now getting frustrated with that distant singing. It can't be natural like a icy formation. But it can't be human as well, he could still hear it clearly even with the loud snow storm.
"Whatever, just get your head in the game Rian." He told himself as he kept moving.
They moved, and finally entered the base grounds through a damaged fence line.
"Place is swarming with armed personnel. I'll tell you where to go, when to go, and if need be, who to drop." Phantom radioed them.
"Lets move rookie." Revenant kept moving forward.
Rian wiped his goggles. "Can barely see."
"Want a heartbeat sensor?" Revenant asked.
"Do we actually have one?"
"No we don't, life's not a video game."
Rian scoffed. "Says the one who brought it up."
They managed to enter the base without setting off any alarms, or being spotted in general. On the few close encounters, they managed to knock out those who had gotten too close. But other than that, they kept weaving through buildings, tents, pass or around enemy patrols. They wouldn't dare use their guns to engage anyone a decent distance away, not in this snow storm with winds this strong. The duo neared the communication centre, where they expect the intel they need to secure and retrieve would be. As they approach the entrance, the storm started to die down.
"Shit, rookie we need to move, now!" Revenant said as they opened the door, but as they did, the base alarm sounded. Quickly flicking their weapons at the ready, they scanned their surroundings.
At that moment, Phantom radioed them. "Son of a bitch! Revenant, Stalheimer's been compromised!"
"What? What happened!?" Revenant demanded.
"He and our guys found the HVT, but were spotted at the second they grabbed him. Stalheimer's holding him as hostage."
"Okay, you got all that Captain Nilsen?"
"Ja, we're sticking to the plan."
"Then you know what to do." Revenant finished as he looked back to Rian. "We're going loud rookie, come on."
With that, explosions can be heard all over the base, with gunfire erupting as well. They didn't stay outside for too long, and entered the communication centre.
Inside the building, Rian and Revenant can hear the chaos caused by the sudden attack. Enemy soldiers running to their designated position, shouting orders. It wasn't long until they were spotted.
"Over here!"
*RTATATATA*
Rian and Revenant quickly took cover, returning fire.
*BANG, BANG, BANG, BANG*
*RTATATATATA*
*BANG, BANG, BANG, BANG, BANG, BANG*
They were pinned down in the hallway, their enemies moving closer to them.
"We can't stay here! We'll be overwhelmed." Revenant shouted, as he returned fire.
Rian looked above him to his right, to see a window showing two adjacent rooms being connected. He had an idea.
"Gonna flank'em!" Rian told Revenant, as he circled through the interconnected rooms, ending up with a clear view of their attackers. It'll only take a few shots to take them down.
*BANG, BANG, BANG*
As the shoots echoed the hallways, Rian slightly lowered his weapon to see what he did. Their attackers were no more, and Rian radioed Revenant. "Alright, we're good."
"AAAAARRRRRGGGGHHHH"
"What the-SHIT!"
Rian tried to raise his gun, but the man charging him was faster, he was tackled down to the ground. His attacker was on top of him, trying to strangle him with every ounce of strength he had, which was a lot apparently.
"Not… good, no-t… goo-d" Rian tried to yell out, only to come out as more of a whimper. But as if Revenant had heard, he came charging into the room, and straight for Rian's attacker.
They crashed onto the lockers, the attacker pinned in between the lockers and Revenant. With that, came a combo from the squad leader. A right hook to the face, a left to his chest, he grabbed the man's head, and brought it down to his knee, instantly knocking him out along with a bloody nose.
All the while, Rian has already gotten back up, still coughing and wheezing. Able to find his dropped weapon, picked it up, and looked at his squad leader, who was in front of him.
"You alright?" Revenant asked.
"Just dandy." Rian replies, as he stood hunched over. After a moment he straightened up, yet still subtlety panting.
"Just be a more observant, otherwise just walk it off." Right as he finished that sentence, Rian raised his pistol towards Revenant. He reacted, but not before Rian shot, but it didn't hit him. Revenant heard a body drop behind him.
With narrow eyes, he looked at Rian. "Could've said something."
"We'd both be d-"
"Yeah dead, so I let it slide and we'll call it even."
Rian holstered his pistol. "Works out."
The duo continued to make their way throughout the building, encountering light resistance along the way. Revenant found it strange, whoever these people were, weren't interested in the confidential intel that this building held. Otherwise, there'd be more hostiles here.
Their trekking finally came to a conclusion when they made it to the server room. It wasn't big like how the movies made them out to be, but the only three lines of computers made it work.
"I'll take this terminal, see what you can find in that laptop." Revenant pointed to a laptop next to the terminal that Revenant was at. Both got to work, as they inserted USB flash drives into each device.
"You're maybe curious to what we're getting. But do yourself a favour, download but don't look." Revenant said as he turned away from his terminal to scan his surroundings, hoping no one would get the drop on them.
"Gotta look to know what I'm downloading, right?" Rian said as he kept looking in the screen.
"You know what I mean." Revenant quickly snapped back.
"I do, I do. But don't they usually tell us to not talk about what we saw, and then threaten us with court martialing, or something along those lines?"
"Yeah usually, but in those uncommon instances, its easier to directly silence them, then to threaten them."
That gave Rian a moment to pause. "Uncommon?" He said in an unsure tone.
Revenant nodded without looking at Rian. "Uncommon."
"Ah-Ah-Ah-Ah"
That timing couldn't be worse for Rian, as he shivered at both the thought, and the sound.
"Just an extra precaution, okay?"
"Yeah… got it." Rian immediately began the transferring process, which luckily wouldn't take too long. Rian didn't give any of the files names a lot thought, which for him, meant he would forget them rather quickly. But as the file names quickly flashed on top of the progress bar, a couple files stood out that Rian quickly caught.
'William Barentsz…'
'Project Riverside.'
'Operation Spellbreaker.'
"Ah-Ah-Aaaahh-Ah-Ah-Ah"
"Give me a sitrep."
Shadow looked over to the two approaching figures of Revenant and the rookie. "The team's all in good shape, NORSOF has secured the base. The base itself is in good condition, the explosions worked well as distractions, and none of the major infrastructure has been damaged. But we do have a problem."
"What's the problem?"
"It's a problem that you shouldn't concern yourself with." Before Shadow could elaborate, a third party had entered their conversation.
Joseph Stalheimer, a Norwegian mercenary working under Norway's 'newly elected' prime minister; Lars Hansen. Joseph himself is a tall man, about 5'11, dirty blonde business beard with long hair that is currently in a bun. Built like a Viking, one can tell that he's the tough guy you should prioritize in a fight. Along with Stalheimer is Captain Nilsen, the commanding officer for NORSOF in this mission.
"Shadow, I already told you to not worry about it." He was looking at Shadow, before turning his gaze to Revenant.
"Just thought it was worth mentioning to my squad leader, didn't mean to offend." Shadow simply said, but was largely ignored.
"Your team has already done an admirable job in retaking this installation." Stalheimer began to say to Revenant. "You can all rest up at the barracks, I understand your prior assignment to this mission wasn't as 'smooth'. So feel free to take this time to have a break, you've certainly earned it."
The entire team looked at Revenant, all of them thinking the same thing. Besides Revenant himself.
"What's this problem you got anyways? My team is still in good fighting shape, and we're not gonna leave the mission half done."
Stalheimer cocked an eyebrow. "Half done?" He then gestured their surroundings. "This base is secured thanks to your help. The problem is just two escaped prisoners-"
"Two escaped prisoners doesn't sound secure to me. My team's reputation is to complete the mission and going beyond." Revenant gave Stalheimer a determined nod. "My team's ready and experienced, we can help get the job done quicker."
"Especially if it's two prisoners, we'll want as many people covering as much ground as possible." Captain Nilsen spoke up. "More hands the merrier right? The longer these guys are here, the further away these two get."
Stalheimer looked at Nilsen. "I thought you and your men had it under control Nilsen."
Nilsen looked up at the tall man. "We could use some extra hands Stalheimer. Besides, how badly do you want to recapture these two prisoners?"
Stalheimer simply sighed as he pinched the bridge of his nose. He looked over to the spec ops squad in front of him. Relenting, he gave them a simple nod.
"You know, I could be relaxing in front of a warm heater, but I'm out here trying to find two dimwits who think they could last in the cold wild." Wraith complained as the entire team kept walking in a snowy plateau. Trees littered their surroundings, as the light snowfall made the scenery look rather beautiful.
"Last I checked, my team wasn't lazy. The mission went rather smoothly. Smooth enough for us to do a bit more." Revenant said as he led the team.
"Speaking about doing a bit more, it's a little weird that they'd be reluctant to accept our help. Almost as if they have something to hide." Banshee spoke, as she scanned her surroundings with her sniper.
"I think your being a little too paranoid there Bansh, as usual..." Spectre responded.
"But think of it, its been a month since the rigged elections. You have to admit, a politician widely known to be corrupt, all of a sudden wins the seat of power in Norway. Then there's the nation wide riots and protest, and paid off military officials siding with Lars Hansen. Now we're working with those same officials in a classified mission. The only reason why we're here, is to ease the tension between Canada and Norway regarding Hans island. A show of friendship." Banshee finished her conspiracy rant. "They're hiding something."
"You done?" Revenant stopped to look back at Banshee.
Banshee sighed as she lowered her gaze. "Sorry sir."
The group got silent as they kept moving forward, through the trees. It was then Spectre spoke.
"So rookie, how'd you like JTF 2?"
Rian titled his head from side-to-side, indicating his so-so experience. "So far so good I guess. I mean, this isn't a walk in the park, and I knew that going in, but at least I get to go to some cool new places." He answered while not looking away from his sightline.
"That's true. I mean in this month alone, your first assignment was in a peacekeeping mission in India. Now you're in the snowy landscapes of Norway. Imagine how many places you'll visit in a year." Spectre exclaimed.
"This job isn't exactly a vacation. Sure we'll be going to some exotic locations, but we won't be visiting white sand beaches, or luxurious hotels." Shadow clarified.
Wraith scoffed. "As much as I want to."
Spectre laughed. "Sounds like you're qualified for the wrong job there buddy."
Wraith chuckled. "Maybe."
"Ah-Ah-Ah-Ah"
Rian slowly raised his head up, hearing that sound once again. His small movement caught the attention of one of his squad mates .
"Something wrong rookie?" Phantom asked.
Rian contemplated on whether he should tell them about the sound. But at the same time, Rian didn't want to burden them with his problems. At least he's planning on meeting the medical officer after this mission.
"I'm good, thought I heard something." Rian responded. He immediately wanted to take it back as soon as he realized that he may have given his problem away.
"Lemme guess, you hear that sound." Banshee said in a deadpan tone.
Rian wanted to downplay it. "Uh… I thought I heard something that sounded like it?"
"So you heard the sound again." She stated back. There wasn't a point to hide it now. Rian simply nodded.
"What does it sound like again?" Revenant asked, thinking Rian's on to something that none of them are getting.
"Uh… its like a sort of vocalizing-"
"I meant recreate the sound." Revenant clarified.
Rian cringed at the order. "Do I have to?"
Although no one can see through his ski mask, Revenant smirked. "Can't help you if you don't provide us the details."
Rian's face continued to scrunch up at the thought. "I don't have a good voice."
"That's an order rookie."
Rian relented as Revenant pulled the 'order' card.
"Ah-Ah-Ah-Ah"
Everyone paused at the moment to try and recognize the sound. After a couple of seconds, Spectre once again spoke up.
"I don't think I've heard that before. Well maybe not recently anyways."
"Sounds a lot like that calling voice from Frozen 2." Banshee gave her thought about it.
"I was thinking about that one song from Usher." Wraith gave his insight.
"You have some psychic powers you're not telling us about kid?" Spectre addressed to Rian.
"Sir, what's your take?" Phantom went to Revenant.
Revenant was still thinking it through, he had no idea where these two prisoners could potentially be. But before long, he decided to lay it all down.
"My take is that we don't have any leads to where these two prisoners are. Maybe the rookie's on to something that we're not catching onto." Revenant looked back at his team, specifically to Rian. "And I am rather curious to what the rookie is hearing."
"Sir for all we know, rookie's got some ear trauma from the last mission, and its now just acting up. He's already scheduled an appointment with the doc after this mission." Phantom tried to convince Revenant otherwise.
Revenant simply shrugged. "Well, we'll find out soon. Where are you hearing this sound rookie?"
Rian nervously shifted in place as he pointed back from where they came from. "Back where we came from. After we left the base we passed by that excavation site, its coming exactly there."
"Are you bullshitting me rookie? We're maybe Spec Ops, but we're not authorized to go there. Remember what Stalheimer said?" Revenant warned.
"I know, that's why I didn't really say anything. I wanted to pass if off as ear problems or natural occurrence, but the sound, whatever it is, its coming from there!" Rian tiredly explain. This sound would be the end if him if it keeps up like this.
"Ah-Ah-Ah-Ah."
Almost as if it heard his thoughts, it sounded off once more. He cringed at the sound, to which everyone had noticed.
Revenant sighed as he saw Rian cringed, knowing he must've heard it again.
"Lets just hope that us finding the two prisoners is enough to offset the fact that we went against Stalheimer's orders." With that, Revenant once again led the way, back to where they came from.
"Ah-Ah-Ah-Ah."
"This is great, if this doesn't work out, we could get disowned, and my squad would hate me for putting them in a situation like this."
"Its my call rookie, if there's anyone to blame, it'd be me." Revenant attempted to put Rian at ease, but the building guilt within Rian still rose at a steady pace.
The whole team followed Rian's ear to the excavation site right beside the military base. Luckily it was completely empty, so they didn't have to worry about being spotted while trespassing into a restricted area. Now the team just kept walking down a large manmade tunnel, flashlights illuminating their surroundings as they kept their weapons up and ready. Luckily it was just one tunnel, albeit a very large tunnel, so it wasn't like they had to split into teams if there were more tunnels. But they couldn't get over the fact of how large the tunnel is. It's enough to fit an entire transport helicopter, minus the helicopter blades of course.
"Ah-Ah-Ah-Ah."
Rian slightly flinched at the sound. It somehow gotten even more creepy now that they were in a dark tunnel.
"You heard it again, didn't you?" Phantom asked Rian, only to receive a sharp look from the rookie.
"Does it matter if I hear it again? We're all here because of me."
"Well I don't hear jackshit." Wraith simply commented.
"You know, this job isn't for everyone. People can easily lose their shit in stressful situations. I don't blame you ro-"
"AH-AH-AH-AH!"
"Whoa! I heard it that time!" Spectre continued after he was interrupted.
"We all heard it! What the hell was that!?" Banshee exclaimed as she shined her flashlight down the only path that the sound came from.
"Lets move team! We may have found our prisoners!" Revenant ordered as he began to follow the source of the sound.
The team began to move quickly, following after their squad leader.
"AH-AH-AH-AH!"
That voice, it wasn't the same, it was insanely off to Rian. This wasn't how he heard the sound before. Before it was more, melodic, it had a comforting tone to it. Like how a mother would sing to her children. What they were all hearing now sounded more, distressing, panic inducing. Like whoever was singing it didn't care if they were off key, like they wanted to get the message across as soon as possible. A desperate cry for help.
"AH-AH-AH-AH!"
"I have no idea how we couldn't hear that before. That's loud as hell!" Spectre exclaimed as they kept up the pace.
"Cut the chatter! We're coming up on an opening!" Revenant ordered as they exited the large tunnel and into an even larger chamber at the end.
A large cavernous chamber, all formed naturally with stalagmites hanging above them to complete the cavern look and feel. With those stalagmites, the ceiling also had large enough gaps to allow natural light to flood the chamber. On the other side of the chamber is a large pond, the pond stretched out farther into the chamber, leading into a subterranean river that stretched on to who knows where.
But the main reason why the team was in there, were standing by the side of the pond. They had their feet a foot deep in the water on the shoreline, with their backs to them. The two prisoners had the classic orange jumpsuits, and from what they can tell, the two prisoners is a blonde man and a woman with brown hair. It was clearly woman who was singing out, but Rian couldn't figure out why.
"AH-AH-AH-AH!" She once again sang, but towards the river, as if she was calling out to someone.
"REMAIN WHERE YOU ARE AND DON'T MOVE!" Revenant ordered the two prisoners with a loud and authoritative voice. Enough to scare the lady, but for the man, he simply turned to faced the soldiers.
"FREEZE AND GET DOWN ON YOUR KNEES RIGHT NOW!" Wraith ordered the two prisoners, wanting to scare them enough with his tone to get them to follow.
The woman looked beyond terrified, but it wasn't the terror one usually gets when someone threatens you with a weapon. Her expression is one of complete hopelessness, a look that conveys the dreaded feeling of giving up and the sudden depression that follows afterwards. Her eyes alone made Rian's heart break, looking at her eyes made him feel like they were crushing her dreams. He felt like the antagonist here.
The man on the other hand, with the way he positioned himself in front of her clearly meant that they were close. He held an arm out, shielding the woman from us. His expression alone was enough to show that he'll gladly die before the team can do anything harmful to her. He looked ready to pounce on them, like a cornered animal. He wasn't holding any weapons, and seeing how there weren't any pockets in his jumpsuit meant he wasn't carrying anything on him. But that didn't mean he didn't have any creative ways in concealing any weapons.
"Please! We just want to go home!" The woman pleaded with the men.
"Ma'am be quiet and follow our instructions! Both of you get down on your knees now!" Revenant once again ordered as he took a dominate step forward.
It was at that moment, the blonde man finally spoke up. "You don't get it do you!?" Roared back at the team, especially towards Revenant, which he narrowed down to as the superior officer. "WE WERE KIDNAPPED!"
The last word seemed to echo around them, as the team tried to process what was just said.
"The hell do you mean pal?" Wraith practically summed up the entire team's thoughts.
The blonde man then explained. "Clearly you're not the same people who've been keeping me and my wife detained for six long years. But during our escape I've seen you fight along side the man who kept us here against our will. Let me tell you this right now, that man; Joseph Stalheimer, isn't who you think he is. He has bad intentions, my wife and I are caught in the middle. You either have to help us, or get out of our way."
In all his years in JTF2, this was by far the strangest mission Revenant has ever been a part of. The newest member of his team heard a strange singing sound emanating from his current objective. They happened to find themselves in a strange cavern with a subterranean pond that connects to a subterranean river. Finally, the fact that Stalheimer is clearly hiding something, and that it's connected to the military installation they just helped liberate. Even though as a soldier, especially one working in covert special operations such as this mission, he isn't allowed to question orders, or to even ask questions in general. But with how everything's been going down, he can't help but think something's up.
"You know, they look a lot like Iduna and Agnarr from the Frozen movies." Banshee quietly stated to Spectre, who's beside her.
"What?"
"Yeah you know? Elsa and Anna's parents from Frozen." Banshee further clarified, only to be met with Spectre shaking his head.
"Yeah um, Bansh… this is reality, not a Disney movie." Spectre responded with an annoyed tone.
"Were you the one singing out loud the moment I arrived in Norway!?" Rian asked the two prisoners, specifically to the woman.
The woman was taken back at his question. "What…?" She stated in a confused manner.
"Ah-Ah-Ah-Ah."
"Yeah, that one, is that y-" Rian stopped midsentence, it wasn't her. She was looking at him this whole time, she only said that one 'what.' Whatever he heard, it came from behind her, from further down the river. "That wasn't you…" Rian stated in a dumbstruck manner, and at the same, he lowered his weapon.
Both the prisoner's eyes were wide. "You hear it too?" They both said to Rian.
"Sir!? Orders!?" Phantom asked out loud.
Revenant shook his head, making up his mind. "Enough of this! Rookie, Phantom, arrest these two now! We'll sort out this entire thing with Stalheimer when we report back!" Revenant was only looking at Rian when he issued the orders.
As for Rian, who's extremely perplexed at everything that's been happening. Although he reluctantly relented, and started walking towards the two prisoners. At the same time, the prisoners were walking back.
"You hear it too? Listen to me, you have to help my wife and I get back home. You don't understand it now, but the spirits chose you as well." The blonde man said as he and his wife walked back, with an arm extended in between him and the two soldiers to create distance.
"Stop moving and GET ON THE GROUND!" Phantom moved fast. He swiftly took down the blonde man, laying him on his stomach and tying his hands behind his back.
"AGNARR!" The woman cried out to her husband, now known to the team is actually named Agnarr.
"IDUNA!" Agnarr looked at Rian, who was hesitantly approaching his wife. "Please! You have to help us!"
"What the hell is this shit!?" Banshee exclaimed as she lowered her weapon.
"Shut it Banshee, I don't want to hear it now!" But was silenced by Revenant. He looked at Rian. "Rookie, any day now!"
"Please… I just want to see my daughters again." At this point, Iduna was sobbing. Her figure quaking with fear and sadness, something Rian won't easily forget. He's the reason why this woman is shaking in fear, he felt like a monster.
To say that Rian was conflicted would be an understatement. But he sadly made up his mind. "I'm sorry, but orders are orders."
But she refused to accept. Iduna tried to make a break for it. But Rian was quicker, he gripped her arms and pulled her back, away from the water. At this point, Iduna was openly sobbing and crying. Her cries echoed inside the cavernous chamber, and as already stated, is something Rian would have a hard time forgetting.
"No… no, no… we were so close…" Rian heard Iduna mumble as he tied her hand behind her back. "Ah… ah… ah… ah…" Iduna sang, but she sang it in total defeat. Like it was the last time she would call out to the mysterious voice that he kept hearing. Like a permanent farewell.
"Ah-Ah-Ah-Ah"
He heard it once again, almost as if it was calling out. Not just to him, it sounded like it was responding to Iduna. But to Rian, it sounded more alluring then ever. Then he heard it.
The sound of crashing waves, and tides of water hitting shore. It was strange, the water in the pond and river was completely still, like ice still but it wasn't frozen at all. The sound, much like that voice, was coming from further in the river. He didn't know, but at that point, he was caught in a sort of trance. He didn't even notice that Shadow and Wraith took Iduna from his grasp. But then Rian steadily started to walk forward, towards the pond and the river. His movements weren't completely his own, yet at the same, he didn't know he was moving.
"Alright, it's time to head back, before Stalheimer realizes we're in here. Rookie?" Revenant looked over to find Rian walking towards the pond. "Come on, stop playing around and get ass here pronto!" But Rian kept moving, as if he didn't hear him.
That's because he really didn't. He kept hearing the same crashing tides, and the water hitting and sliding onto shore. He didn't know it, but he was a step away from hitting the water.
"Rookie! Seriously get your ass here now, or else I'll have to-" Revenant stopped mid sentence when saw what happened.
Rian stepped on water. Not into the water, but on it. The only indicator that he made any contact with the water were the elegant ripples of water from each step he took. The entire team's jaw dropped, Agnarr and Iduna only watched on in continued stunned silence.
"R-Rookie?" Revenant tried to call out to Rian, but as always, Rian didn't hear him.
He kept walking on water until he reached the mouth of the river. At that point, Rian heard something else. No, it wasn't the continued sound of crashing waves, but it also wasn't the sound of the voice calling to him. He instead heard galloping. Then, a different voice.
"Of course. *gasp* Glaciers are rivers of ice. Ahtohallan is frozen."
"Ah-Ah-Ah-Ah."
"I hear you, and I'm-"
"RIAN!" That shook him off his stupor. Rian looked around, confused. He looked back to find himself at the other side of the chamber. His team were all looking at him, wary and shock clearly plastered in their faces. He then realized, he was standing on water.
"What the shit?"
That's all it took for Rian to say, then he dropped into the deep depths of the water he was standing on.
"Wait… he heard me?"
He wasn't drowning, or at least it didn't feel like he was drowning. There was something calming and surreal about where he was now. It didn't feel like he was submerged in water, he didn't even feel his movements were being obstructed by the water, as one usually feels when underwater. Instead he felt like he was floating. Like he was floating down to the very bottom of the chasm.
Weirdest thing of all, he could breathe, and he didn't feel panicked at all. Usually one would instinctively swim to the surface, yet right now, that urgency was nowhere in his mind. Did he mention that he could breathe? Weird right?
His surroundings were pitch black, except for the ray of sunlight that only shined on him. It continued to shine, until he hit the floor, and then the sunlight ceased to shine on him. It was dark, yet strangely he could see himself as if it was clear as day. Well maybe not as clear as day, with the way the light was on him, it would appear that moonlight was shining on him.
Speaking of himself, he wasn't wet at all. Rian touched his clothes, his tactical vest, his hair, were as dry as it can be. He felt even dryer than before he was even submerged, due to the snow melting on his clothes before hand. He then noticed it, he had no weapons on him. His assault rifle was gone, his sidearm too, he didn't even have his combat knife! Not even his backup knife that he kept hidden on his sleeve. The only thing he had that he could use as weapons were his two ice axes.
Then he finally noticed the ground, he was standing on ice. Looking up and around his surroundings, the pitch black nothing was replaced by an icy shoreline. Behind him, a massive glacier stood stories taller than himself. He noted the small entryway into the glacier itself. Looking around, he noticed the cold waters that hit the shore. The tall icebergs the stuck out the waters. He finally he noticed something approaching him.
More like galloping towards him. When Rian saw the woman riding… whatever that thing was, was when he also heard the music play.
"Every inch of me is trembling. But not from the cold."
"What the hell?" Rian spoke freely.
"Something is familiar. Like a dream I can reach, but not quite hold."
He could hear the woman singing, and it was clear that she was heading towards him. But something was off about this whole thing. Her voice, sounded vaguely familiar. What made his gears turn was the fact that he realized the galloping noise was coming from the blue horse the woman was riding on. Much like he was a few moments earlier, the horse was galloping on the water.
"I can sense you there."
"What?" Rian said as he took a few steps back, away from the shoreline, growing even more cautious about the situation he found himself in. He finally noticed the horse wasn't exactly a horse. It was a horse made of water! "Where the hell am I?"
"Like a friend I've always known."
At that moment, the horse reached the icy shoreline, and the woman jumped off, and turned towards the water horse.
"I'm arriving…"
The woman bowed to the horse, and it bowed back.
"… and it feels like I am home."
Before the horse galloped back into the water, it looked at Rian for a second, acknowledging the fact that it knew, he was there. Before long, it went back into the water, with Rian now stuck with this singing woman.
Looking at the woman now, she pulled her hair out of a ponytail, letting it down. Rian couldn't help but notice how beautiful she was, and how strangely familiar she not only looked, but sounded. But then it clicked, thanks to Banshee.
"Elsa…?"
"I have always been a fortress, cold secrets deep inside."
The woman, now identified as Elsa, was making her way towards the entryway into the glacier. It was at that moment Rian realize, she should've noticed him instantly.
Rian ran ahead of her to get in front of her. "Hey Elsa!? Where the hell am I? How the hell are you re-"
"You have secrets too…"
It was at that moment, Elsa went right through him, as if he wasn't even there in the first place.
His reaction was strong. "OH MY GOD, what the hell?" Rian said as he backed away from Elsa, but she kept walking as if nothing impeded her.
"… but you don't have to hide."
To say that he was confused would've been an understatement. But thinking on his feet, he followed Elsa.
'Its not like I have anywhere else to go.' Rian thought as he followed the ice queen.
"Show yourself, I'm dying to meet you."
Elsa sang as she entered into the glacier.
"If you're singing about that damn voice I've been hearing, I'm dying to meet it as well. And where the hell is that music coming from?" Rian stated as he followed Elsa inside the glacier.
"Show yourself, its your turn."
As Elsa kept walking, Rian couldn't help but marvel at the ice formations inside the glacier. To barrow a quote from the original movie, he thought about what Kristoff said about Elsa's ice castle.
"Now that's ice."
"Are you the one I've been looking for, all of my life?
Show yourself, I'm ready to learn.
Ah-Ah-Ah-Ah."
Rian cocked an eyebrow as she sang those familiar vocals. "Were you the one calling me this whole time?"
"Ah-Ah-Ah-Ah."
As if to respond to his question, four distinct lights flashed behind them and made the all so familiar sound that Rian knew. They both turned to face a new path, deeper into the glacier.
"Nope." Rian simply answered his own question.
"I've never felt so certain, all my life I've been torn."
Elsa began to run, giving chase to the light, with Rian quickly following, although not as quickly. The ice in here was still slippery. As a matter of fact, he almost slipped the moment he reacted to Elsa running.
"But I'm here for a reason, could it be the reason I was born?"
At that Elsa began to slide downward on her feet, something Rian couldn't follow suit. So instead he purposely performed a baseball slide, something he commonly do to quickly get to cover, and followed after Elsa.
"I have always been so different, normal rules did not apply."
At the end of the slide, Elsa jumped, crossing the crevice by erecting pillars of ice to skip on, to get across.
"Oh shit!" Rian exclaimed as he followed Elsa's method of stepping on each pillar. He was lucky that he didn't slip, until the last pillar. Slipping on the last pillar, but still managed to jump, although his jump was clearly too short.
"OH NONONONONO!" Rian quickly gripped his axes and while flaying his arms he managed to grip the edge. When he climbed on and got back on his feet, he looked at the crevice behind, and then at Elsa in front of him. "You're insane." He muttered as he shook his head.
"Is this the day? Are you the way, I finally found out why?"
For a moment, Elsa lost track of the light she was following, but found it a moment later when she touched the wall. At that, the light continued to guide her forward, with Rian trailing behind.
"Show yourself! I'm no longer trembling!"
Elsa exclaimed as she pushed some ice pillars out of her way.
"I'm kinda am." Rian nervously remarked.
"Here I am, I've come so far!"
Rian couldn't help but marvel at Elsa's strength with her powers. He then decided to further refrain from providing his own commentary. He wanted to see what Elsa was experiencing, hopeful that he would find a way out.
"You are the answer I've waited for, all of my life!"
Elsa continued to sing with a powerful voice, clearly expressing how empowering this is for her. Seeing her move the icy pillars, Rian only grew more curious at what would result from this. But the lingering questions still remained, what was he doing here, and why was he seeing this? Is he actually dead?
"Oh, show yourself! Let me see who you are!"
Elsa then shattered a thin ice wall into thousands, or so, crystals of ice. The crystals were floating in a dark room that Elsa entered, and so did Rian right behind her.
"Come to me now."
Then some of the ice crystals grouped together to form a strange blue shape, that quickly yet swiftly gusted around her as if it was wind itself. It then all combined together to create and even larger crystal at what Rian presumed to be the centre of the room. Just in case, he held onto his ice axes with a firm grip.
"Open your door."
The next set of icy crystals formed to create a sort of fiery shape, and swiftly dashed around Elsa. It followed the previous shape, as it too formed into a bigger crystal, and joined the first at the centre of the room.
"Don't make me wait."
At that, a familiar water horse went around Elsa, and that's when Rian saw a bit of a pattern here. Not in their actual behaviour, as he knew it too would form into a larger crystal and join the others in the middle. But in what they are, what they symbolize.
"One moment more!"
As Elsa kept singing, another shape formed to her right. It took an appearance of a giant, and from what Rian thought to be a stone-like shape making up the giant. That confirmed what Rian observed.
"Four elements…" Rian muttered, if he got the last one correct. Its was hard to tell what that last giant was made out of.
"Oh, come to me now! Open your door!"
At that, Elsa controlled the massive crystals, circling them in the air.
"Don't make me wait, one moment more!"
At that Elsa lowered the massive crystals down, into the indentations in the ground that Rian never even noticed.
Following suit, as she held onto that last note she stepped onto the middle, and the ground lit up into a impressive snowflake shape with the four crystals. Rian was more than impressed by what's happening, getting goosebumps down his back. His eyes shined bright because of the light beneath his feet.
Looking back at Elsa, the combined light from beneath them shot up pass her, and into the air, exploding into an icy dome that now surrounded them. The dome were playing a bunch of scenes that Rian doesn't mostly recognize. A few do, as they were directly from the 2013 movie. But either way, it was definitely still something to behold. At that, he loosened his grip on his ice axes to appreciate what he was seeing.
"Whoa…" Was all he could say at the moment.
"When the Northwind, meets the sea.
Ah-Ah-Ah-Ah!"
Rian immediately turned to hopefully see the source of that voice, only to be met with the image of a brown haired girl, holding onto an unconscious blonde boy. It was the girl who was singing out loud for any to hear. A blonde boy, and a brown haired girl… he realized Elsa was looking at the image as well.
"There's a river.
Ah-Ah-Ah-Ah!
Full of memory!"
"Mother."
Elsa tearfully said.
"MOTHER!?" Rian repeated with shock and wide eyes.
"Come, my darling, homeward bound!"
A new image sang behind them as both Elsa and Rian turned to face it. It was the same woman Rian had just arrested a few minutes ago.
"That's your mom!? I arrested your mom?" Rian didn't know what to think, this was all too nuts.
"I am Found!"
Elsa continued to sing, putting all of her emotions into harmonizing with her mother. That didn't stop Rian from freaking out.
"What the hell is going on!?"
"Show yourself! Step in to your power!
Grow yourself, into something new!"
At the flash of light, Elsa instantly changed her clothes, to that of a beautiful white flowing dress. Some of the small icy crystals from beneath her came up and started floating around her, giving her dress some colour. Even with the shocking revelations that Rian had seen, he couldn't help but feel amazed at what he was witnessing.
"You are the you've been waiting for!"
"All of my life!"
Rian could see the flurry of emotions in Elsa's face. But it was at that moment he realized what happened in Frozen. Her parents died, and Elsa is now seeing something new from her late mother. The thought gave him some goosebumps, understanding how she must feel at the moment, and how much this must mean to her.
"I wonder how you'll react when you find out your parents are still alive." Rian muttered again to himself.
"Oh, show yourself!
Ah-Ah
Ah-Ah-Ah-Ah."
With that Elsa began to wave her arms around, the ice dome forming into a snowy mist. The mist was following her every move, all circling around her.
"Ah-Ah-Ah-Ah!"
"Ah-Ah-Ah-Ah!"
Rian didn't really know what was happening, so once again he gripped his ice axes.
"Ah-Ah-Ah-Ah!"
"Ah-Ah-Ah-Ah!"
With that the mist fell right on top of him. As it faded away he was met with darkness once more. Elsa was nowhere to be seen, and at that he grew anxious. He kept his head on a swivel, looking left, right, up and down. His scanning stopped when he saw a strange figure, standing a couple metres in front of him.
A shadowy figure with blue glowing eyes. At that, Rian readied his ice axes as he took a defensive stance.
"Who or what the hell are you? What the hell was that, and why the hell am I here?" He actually wanted to only ask the first question, but one turned into two questions. Then two questions became three. He had more but held on to his three.
At that, the shadowy figure took a cautious step forward, its hands in front of his body, a gesture for Rian to calm down.
"All your questions will be answered in the glacier of memories. Ahtohallan." The figure simply stated as it kept steadily moving towards Rian. Yet he stood his ground.
"What?" Rian asked, but the figure refused to answer.
By then, the figure was in front of Rian, within arms reach. Rian remained in his stance, yet the figure stood straight and still, calm as one could ever be. It was at this moment, the figure offered a hand, to Rian it looked like it was offering a hand shake. Rian made his feelings clear once he took a step away from the figure.
At that, the figure shook his head. "You'll have to accept it one day Rian."
"How the hell do you know who I am?" Rian immediately asked.
But the figure kept going. "One day…" At that it looked up, above Rian, to which he gave the shadowy figure a confused look. "Take a deep breath" It said for a final time.
"Why should I?" Rian asked, expecting the figure to attack. Instead he felt hands grabbing both his shoulders, and was pulled upwards.
*GASP*
Rian gasped for air, he could feel it now. Coughing and struggling for air, gagging water out of his lungs. He was dragged onto solid ground, from there he got on all fours, getting water out and struggling for air.
*Cough, cough, cough*
He felt soaking wet, and extremely cold. He began shaking violently, surmising that he's hypothermic. But as soon as he had a steady breath, he got kicked in the chest.
He landed on his back, too weak to defensively react. He began to cough a little more, due to how hard he was just kicked.
"Dive down deep into her sound." He heard a man sing. He looked up to find Stalheimer above him, looking down at him. "But not too far or you'll be drowned." He crouched down to Rian's level. "Looks like someone didn't heed her warnings." He then nodded and stood back up, walking around Rian. "And on top of that, you and your team didn't heed my warnings either.
"Wha-"
*BANG*
Rian flinched at the gunshot. He looked at the source to find…
The lifeless corpses of his team.
To Rian, the whole world paused. Or more like he paused, and the world outside of him was shattering down on top of him. He kept staring at the lifeless bodies of a team he just started to get to know. Their names, their position, their hobbies, interests. He stared at their bodies, how they laid on their own pools of blood. He could tell how some of them died before knowing what had hit them. They were ambushed… they're dead, and he's still alive.
"Oh no… oh nononono…" Was all he can say at the moment.
"But oh yes actually." Stalheimer continued to speak. "Because thing is, I remember giving the order to only secure the communication centre. Not copy confidential information into these flash drives." Stalheimer held up the two flash drives he and Revenant used during the attack on the base. At this point, Rian was hyperventilating, stressed at what was going to happen next.
"Clearly, your team knew too much." Stalheimer continued. Rian looked at his fallen comrades, their lifeless bodies becoming ingrained into his memory. He noticed passed them were the two prisoners, still alive yet watching him very intently with sad eyes. Especially Iduna's. "And now, so do you." Stalheimer finished as he aimed his pistol point blank on Rian's head.
But Rian kept his gaze on Elsa's and Anna's parents. He knew this was it, he knew he was going to die. So he wanted to convey his last words to both Agnarr and Iduna.
"I'm sorry…"
*BANG*
"NO!" Iduna screamed, as Rian's body fell back. His head turned so both Iduna and Agnarr could see his face, and the bullet hole in his forehead.
"How long did this attack delay us?"
"About six months sir."
"Then lets get back to work. We have a kingdom and a forest to claim."
Elsa stumbled away from the misty image, she lost her balance and fell on her bum. She couldn't believe what just happened. Not only her parents are still alive, but there's apparently another person like her. This man… Rian was his name, he heard the voice! The same voice that she too heard. Yet, she just saw him die. It's definitely a first for Elsa, the first time she saw someone die before her very eyes. Its something she will never forget.
She took a deep breath, trying to relax. It took her a moment, but finally she got back on her feet. A rush of thoughts came flooding in her mind, but one stood out.
"How recent was that memory?" She asked herself. Elsa immediately went to the misty image and asked. "What was I doing when all that with Rian was happening?"
The image vanished, swirled around and formed a new image, a new memory. The memory showed the time Kristoff brought Anna along to show her how he harvested ice. She was there with Olaf, laughing at the ensuing chaos. But right now, Elsa wasn't laughing.
"Oh no… that was-"
*Boom*
Elsa heard a distant boom, following with a slight shake of the room she was in.
"Oh no, the Northuldra, Arendelle, Anna!"
With that, Elsa rushed out of the room, and towards the exit. But what Elsa didn't notice were the changes to the ice sculpture of Rian. There was now a crack on the forehead of the sculpture. But what Elsa also failed to notice, is how the crack started to mend itself, until it looked as if nothing damaged the ice sculpture of Rian Jayce.
(Insert 'A Thief's End' song from Uncharted 4: A Thief's End. You know, the same soundtrack that played in Uncharted 4's opening)
Note: So its been a long while since I've posted anything, and really apologize to anyone who's currently following my previous two stories. But as of now, they'll have to be put on ice. Ha ha, right? Anyways, yeah, my previous two stories will be on a temporary hiatus. Not that I lost interest in updating them, as a matter of fact I really want to update them. But this tory has suddenly taken my interest. I can't multitask three stories, so for now, I want to focus on this one.
So, if you want to know how this story came to be, here's a small story;
About a year ago, I heard a song that I just, really liked the moment I heard it. It was Cold by NEFFEX. When listening to it, I felt like this could attach to something, a new story perhaps. So fast forward a month later, and I brought Uncharted 4. Before that I've been a long time Uncharted fan, so I was ecstatic to play A Thief's End. To be honest, Uncharted 4 must be one of the best Uncharted games I have ever played, and that ending couldn't have been any better. I loved the game. It wasn't long before I got Lost Legacy and completed it the day I got it. At that, I realized something, I didn't want the adventure to end.
So I think around the time the first trailer for Frozen 2 came out, and it looked like an awesome adventure. The epic music, and what look liked the stakes were much higher. Due to the fact that I recently played Uncharted, I instantly knew one thing, I had to make a story.
But life got in the way of that story, and I couldn't make it until recently. I know what you're maybe thinking, and no, covid-19 is not the reason why I had the chance to make this story. Although regarding that, please stay safe out there.
Anyways, I hope you enjoyed the chapter, more will come soon, hopefully. I'm aiming for next week at least. As always, if you spot any grammatical or spelling errors I do apologize, it is just me writing and editing. I read through these chapters twice before releasing them. Until the next chapter folks! Peace out!
