Of all the people Pansy Parkinson thought she'd run into while Christmas shopping, Draco Malfoy was the last person she'd expect.

It was hard to miss that slicked back blond hair even from across the department store. Oh, those grey eyes. He still looked as handsome as ever to Pansy, time did him well.

Then, a wave of sadness washed over her. How could she forget? Guess five years did well to her too; she managed to avoid running into him that long.

"Please don't see me," the brunette muttered as she tried hiding her face with her purse. "Please don't see me. Please-"

"Pansy!"

Putting on the fakest grin she could muster, Pansy turned to see the blond striding towards her with a smile and an armful of bags. What made it worst was that his wife, Astoria, was right behind him. Could this get any more disastrous?

Pansy caught sight of Astoria's stomach and almost fainted. The woman was pregnant too?! Just spare her now.

The older woman was devastated when Draco didn't ask her to marry him after the Battle of Hogwarts. Sure, they weren't exclusive but they were close enough for her! She had even started composing the guest list in her head instead of actually fighting. Daphne would be maid of honor of course. Chicken for the main course?

"I hate to say I told you so..." Daphne Greengrass trailed off.

"He-he's just waiting for the right time," Pansy denied, fiddling with her fingers.

"He fled, Pans."

"He needs space!"

To her dismay, the love of her life didn't even contact her again. To add insult to injury, she had learned through Gregory Goyle that Draco had married Astoria of all people!

"But he never even talked to her when we went to Hogwarts!" Pansy shrieked in the break room at work to Goyle. "How?"

"They met through Daph," Goyle replied with a shrug. "She and Draco kept in touch after school."

'That traitor!' Pansy thought, her knuckles going white as she gripped a coffee mug. 'Ugh, I'd rather he not marry at all.'

Not only did Pansy feel heartbroken at seeing Draco again, she felt like pounding Astoria into the floor. She was the one who listened to Draco's sorrows and woes in school, not this girl two years younger who she didn't even knew existed.

"Pansy, it's so good to see you again."

Snapping out of her daze, the said woman remembered she was standing in a department store face to face with the man who broke her heart and his pregnant wife.

"Yeah, you too." Pansy lied, hoping it sounded convincing.

"What have you been up to?" Draco asked, oblivious to Pansy's blatant discomfort.

"Oh, you know, working and such." The older woman made a point of looking at Astoria, who hadn't said anything besides a quiet "hello".

"Hey, Daphne and Blaise are hosting a Christmas party, you should come," the blond prompted. "I know you haven't seen anyone since Hogwarts."

If that fake grin got any bigger, it would start to hurt. "I'll think about it," Pansy replied.

"Great!" Draco turned to Astoria. "Let's go, we still have some more shopping to do."

"Bye," Astoria bade to Pansy.

"Nice seeing you," Draco called over his shoulder.

The moment the due was out of sight, the smile dropped into a scowl.

"Like I'm going to go," Pansy grumbled to herself. "Just remember, I had him first!"

With that, she went back to browsing the racks.
