Hi Friends! New little drabble series here. It's loosely tied to my Ecto-Storm series (between MtG and OoT) but can be read as a stand alone.
Basically a "What if Season 3 happened, but Danny's parents knew the entire time" fic. Please follow, fav or review if you enjoy it!
"For the last time Mom I'm fine," Danny said, brushing his mother off him as she hovered over the couch. "I'll heal by morning." They had arrived home an hour ago from the whole McMasters debacle, injuries in the process healing and Vlad being harassed by the media. His plan had worked. His parents didn't seem to think so.
It was three weeks since they found out his secret. They were okay with it - more than okay even! Danny thought everything was fine.
That was before Vlad became mayor. Before they saw him get injured. Before they figured out how to move forward.
Maddie frowned, eying a slightly guilty looking Jack from across their living. "Danny," she scolded worriedly. "Vlad shot you with a pretty strong ecto-blast after you were fighting the Wisco- Plasmius."
Danny sighed, wincing slightly as he moved. "It was the only way I could think of to stop him without becoming ghost enemy #1 again." Of all the weeks for Jazz to be away at a Yale college tour...
"By throwing yourself into the line of fire!? You were thrown into a building Danny! Twice."
"Well, when you put it like that…" Danny sighed again, meeting his mother in the eye and hand moving to the back of his head nervously. "Mom, seriously, I'm okay. I can deal with this."
"You're not okay," Jack said softly. Danny's eyebrows rose in confused. Mother and son looked over to the orange clad man as he looked up at them. "Danny, I pointed an ecto-gun at you. The same gun Vladdie shot you with."
Danny smile sadly, not quite reaching his eyes as he looked his father over. "I'm us-"
"Don't," Jack cut him off roughly. Danny frowned as Jack turned away. "You should never be used to this. Not now - not when I know better."
"When we know better," Maddie amended softly.
Danny looked between his parents, both guilty at the events of the evening. He got up slowly, ignoring his mother's protest as he walked across the room to his father. He put a hand on Jack's shoulder, smiling gently. "Dad," Danny said softly. "I don't blame you for today - if you didn't react the way you did, it would've looked way too suspicious." When Jack looked up, Danny's smile became lopsided. "Come on, Jack Fenton? Not reacting to the one ghost he'd dissect 'molecule by molecule?'" Danny mimed pulling something apart with his hands. "Dad, it's going to take time - especially with Plasmius in town and Vlad as mayor - for us to figure out how to work together."
"Danny, we're not going to keep hunting Phantom!" Maddie exclaimed, appalled at the idea.
Danny shook his head as he turned to his mom. "I definitely don't want that," he said. "But we need to make it look like you are, at least for now. We can work our way up to a truce maybe? So Vlad won't have a way to say Phantom's forcing you to work with me. Or worse." Danny shivered slightly, thinking vaguely to Vlad's play to the crowd.
See? Danny Phantom attracts the worst of what the Ghost world has to offer and he's virtually powerless to stop them!
"Until when?" Maddie asked, breaking him out of his thoughts.
Danny brought his hand to his chin, before he shrugged. "Who knows? But we can do it." He looked at both of his parents, determination and unwavering resolve making him stand taller. "I trust you."
