The Rescue Riders were sitting at the roost eating breakfast when Aggro saw a flash of light blue. "Hey, guys. Did you see that?" She asked, pointing with one of her wings to the sky where a sky blue dragon was flying closer and closer.
Leyla, Dak and Winger all stood to there feet and stared up into the sky. They knew who the dragon was. "Hay, Ley? Isn't that..." Dak trailed off as the sky blue dragon landed near the group. "Sky!" Leyla cried, racing up and wrapping her arms tightly around the sky blue dragons neck. Summer's eyes widened in shock when she saw that it was another Swiftwing, and a female at that.
"Sky? Who's Sky?"
"Sky was my old friend from when I was little. She and Winger always loved to race each other, and it was always almost a tie."
"Wait... She was your friend before you met me? Then if you two were so close, then why didn't you bring her along to join the Rescue Riders?" Summer asked, a bit of bitterness in her tone as she said the last part.
"Hay, Summer. Relax, no need to be so rude." Leyla said, turning to glance at the young Fastfin, who looked down at her feet. "Is anyone up for a race?" Came Sky's excited voice from beside Leyla. Leyla and Dak both nodded and Summer's eyes narrowed into slits and a growl built up in her throat.
Why is this dragon trying to take up all of Leyla's attention? What's so special about Sky anyway? I mean... Yeah, she's a Swiftwing but why does Leyla like her so much? I need to stop Sky before she takes my best friend away from me. Summer thought as she began making plans in her head.
"Yeah, I'm in! Are you ready to fly, Sky?" She asked, leaping onto Sky's back as she spoke. "Leyla? What are you doing?" Summer asked, staring at Leyla as the girl turned to look back at her. "We're just going to have one quick race." She said to her. "I thought racing wasn't your thing, Ley."
"No need to worry, Summer. It's only one race, come on! You've gotta see this!" And with that, the two Swiftwings were off flying faster then a bolt of lightning.
Well this will be fun. Let's see how fast Sky can go before she gets tired. Summer thought as she flew after the other Rescue Riders.
Summer sighed softly to herself as she slowly followed after Sky, Winger, Dak and Leyla. Why didn't Leyla ride on my back for the race? We've been practicing my flying speed for a few weeks now. So why is she riding on Sky's back? These thoughts kept racing in Summer's mind, as she turned and flew back to the roost, flying in through the window to Leyla's bedroom.
When the others flew back to the roost, they noticed that Summer wasn't with them. "Hay, has anyone seen Summer?" Leyla asked, frowning slightly as she looked around for the sea foam green dragon.
"I'll go take a look inside the Roost." Aggro offered, and Leyla went with the Fire Fury inside the roost to look for Summer. The two girls eventually found Summer in Leyla's bedroom. "Summer? There you are! We were looking for you." Leyla said. "What are you doing in Leyla's bedroom, Summer?" Aggro asked. Summer sighed and looked at her feet.
"I'm here because it's obvious that you and Sky get along perfectly, and you didn't even notice me. Ever since Sky arrived, you haven't payed much attention to me. And you said that Sky was your best friend." Summer said, curling her tail over her talons as she stared at the wooden wall of the room.
"Oh, I see. Your jealous of Sky, aren't you? Is that what this is about?" Aggro asked her and Summer slowly nodded. "But Summer, there's no need to be jealous, you know that Leyla is your best friend and she always will be."
"I know, I know. But I can't help it! I know that I shouldn't have any reason to be jealous... But I feel like Leyla likes Sky better then me."
Leyla's eyes widened and she took a seat on the bed next to Summer. "I'm really sorry, Sum. I would never do anything to hurt your feelings, it's just that me and Sky haven't scene each other since I was a little kid." Leyla told them. "I never told either of you this... But Sky was my only friend growing up, Dak had Winger and I met Sky when our mom was just teaching us how to ride on dragons."
"You should really give Sky a chance, Summer. She really is a sweet dragon. Hay, maybe me, you, Aggro, and Sky can go swimming! And you could teach Aggro and Sky those amazing dives and flips!" Leyla suggested, and they all nodded at the idea.
"Now come on, the others will be waiting for us." Summer said, and the three girls made there way back outside to where the others were all chatting happily with one another.
"Who's up for learning some cool water tricks and super looper dives?" Aggro asked, and everyone nodded in excitement. And with that the small group made there way down to the docks for some more fun and swimming lessons.
"I love anything that starts with super!" Aggro commented, as they watched Summer fly high into the air before doing a total of three loops and diving into the water with a spin. "Wow! I want to learn how to do that." Cutter said. And the others all nodded in agreement as they continued to watch with wide eyes as Summer did even more aquatic tricks both above and under the water.
"Ok. Are you already to learn a super-looper dive?" Summer asked the others who all nodded eagerly in response. "But you might wanna take a really deep breath." Summer quickly added as they all spun and dove back into the water.
