Summary: He wonders if it's symbolic that after losing his boyfriend, he runs into the reason why the relationship ended. For my au100 claim of Harry Potter/Draco Malfoy on livejournal.

"It's over."

Shock fills his entire being and Harry doesn't know whether to laugh or cry. Mainly because, he saw it coming, but it still hurts and he doesn't know how to respond.

"What?"

"Over. Us. Must I spell it out?"

When Harry had met Draco Malfoy some years ago in Madame Maulkin's robe Shop of All Occassions, and the blond had found out that Harry didn't know about the Houses and Quidditch (therefore deciding to tell Harry everything he knew), Harry had never thought he'd end up here.

Of course, Harry had never been intimate with Draco Malfoy. Draco is a friend that he made in Slytherin, the cocky, pompous blond that had taken delight in embarrassing Ron Weasley whenever the redhead had decided to be present.

Draco Malfoy was his best friend. A best friend he hadn't seen within the six years since Harry won the Second War. A best friend that Harry thought about often enough in the sexual context that was currently bringing about the end of his current relationship.

"Why?" Call Harry a sadist for making his boyfriend say it, or a masochist for wanting to hear it.

"Why? You're kidding, aren't you? I'm not Draco bleeding Malfoy, never will be. And the last thing I need in the middle of the night is to hear you yelling his name, thank you."

Harry's boyfriend is nameless. A guy, who thought he could get under Harry Potter's skin and come out on top, only to find out that someone beat him to it eleven years ago without even trying.

Harry blanches, but he won't pretend it isn't true. "All right. Fine. We're over."

Harry stands and stiffly leaves the coffee shop, only to practically bowl over the person entering.

"If you could watch where you're going, thank – " the voice pauses. "Harry?"

Green eyes meet gray and Harry's heart beats harder within his chest. He wonders if it's symbolic that after losing his boyfriend, he runs into the reason why the relationship ended.

"Draco. Never did I ever think I'd see you in a Muggle city, let alone about to enter and drink at a coffee shop." Harry responds, an easy grin sliding over his features.

"Yes. Well. Circumstances that can't be helped." Draco replies. He looks inside and then at Harry. "Six years, has it been?"

"I think so," Harry says, though he is absolutely sure that he knows. Six years, it's been. Six years way too long.

"Well. We should…meet up sometime or another, reminisce of the old Slytherin days…over dinner, maybe?" Draco raises an eyebrow.

"We can do that."

"Tonight?"

"Whenever you'd like."

-end.
