A/N: Thanks for continuing to read, review, and follow! I appreciate it. My evil side appreciates it as well. Now, I was able to distract her so you won't have to wait very long at all to find out about Marissa. This chapter picks up where the last one left off. Hope you enjoy this update!

Per the pilot's request, Bianca had turned off her cellphone after she had finished her call to Kendall because they were ready to take off. Not being able to make any calls to get an update on what was happening back home felt like the longest 15 minutes of her life. As soon as she was told she could use her phone again, Bianca tried her wife once more. This time someone answered, but it wasn't Marissa.

"Bianca? It's Sofia."

"Sofia? Why … why are you answering Marissa's phone? Is she alright? Did something happen to her?"

"Marissa is okay, for the most part."

"What do you mean 'for the most part'?"

"She suffered a minor injury at the courthouse. Right now, we're at the hospital, and they are taking a look at her."

"A minor injury? What happened? How was she hurt?"

"It's her wrist. Look, I promise I'll tell you everything, but I really need to start at the beginning. I promise though that Marissa's okay. Alright?"

Bianca took a deep breath in an effort to calm herself down. Marissa was okay, and that was the important thing. "Alright. I'm sorry. I've kind of been going a little crazy not being there or knowing what's going on. I feel really useless."

"It's okay. I understand. Where are you now? Marissa said something about you being in New York for work. Are you still there?"

"I was there for work. Right now, I'm actually on a plane headed back home. I should be there in about an hour or so."

"Oh, that's really good to hear. Okay. Marissa and I were at the courthouse today. I was there for a hearing for Baldwin vs. Baldwin."

"Doug and Tammy. You're representing Doug."

"Correct. My hearing ran over because of … well, because of Tammy being Tammy. The judge had finally had enough of her for the day and adjourned saying the rest of the motions would be dealt with in the next day or so. Tammy raced out of the courtroom, and Marissa happened to be the first person she saw."

"Let me guess. She blamed Rissa for everything."

"Pretty much, yeah. Anyway, Tammy's lawyer was able to pull her away from Marissa. Jordan, that's her lawyer or at least was her lawyer. I'm pretty sure she won't be representing Tammy after today. Anyway, Jordan is very good and knows that Marissa doesn't have anything to do with this case."

"Marissa has mentioned her before. She said she was good but not nearly as good as you."

Sofia chuckled. "Well, that's really good to hear. So, the bailiff came out and told Marissa that the judge was going to reschedule her case because it was so late. Marissa and her client were okay with that, and everyone started getting ready to leave. That's when the emergency siren sounded. Do you remember Marissa telling you about emergency training we had to take in regards to the courthouse?"

"I do. She said lawyers and other court officers had to go through it because of how often you're there."

"Exactly. We all jumped into action and began directing people to a nearby conference room. Tammy had started to panic as soon as the siren went off. She didn't like the idea of sheltering in place like we're supposed to. She saw the exit and started to head towards it. Marissa figured out what she had in mind and stopped her. You see, the doors lock automatically once that alarm goes off. Tammy didn't like that and …" Sofia paused to take a breath. She knew that Bianca would be furious about what happened next.

"What did she do?"

"She pushed Marissa. It caught her off guard. She lost her balance and ended up falling. When she fell, Marissa landed kind of awkwardly. She tried to brace herself, and all of her weight went on her left wrist. I could tell right away she was hurt. Before I got a chance to ask her anything, a woman by the name of Ruth noticed her daughter Lauren was missing. Turns out she had gone to the ladies room right before the alarm went off. Marissa …"

Bianca shook her head. She knew exactly what her wife did, injury be damned. "Marissa volunteered to go get her."

"You know your wife well. She did. The woman wasn't familiar with the layout and knew her daughter would be scared. Marissa was gone before anyone could stop her, and before you say anything, you should know that the girl is 13."

"Close to Miranda's age." Bianca knew Marissa would've volunteered anyway, but knowing that she reminded her of their oldest daughter, there definitely would have been no stopping her.

"Yes. Marissa found her but decided it was safer at that point for them to stay put. She texted me, and then, we turned our phones over to Ruth and Lauren to let them text each other for a bit." Sofia was impressed that Bianca was keeping it together as well as she was, but the lawyer also knew that Bianca would be dealing with Tammy later. Right now, her focus was on Marissa. "The police were finally able to talk the guy down. Once he was in custody, they came and got everyone. We found out then that he was in another part of the courthouse, but Tammy would've run right into him if Marissa hadn't stopped her when she did. When I finally saw Marissa again, I could tell she was hurting pretty bad. I grabbed her stuff for her, and then, I practically had to force her onto an ambulance to take her to the hospital. Traffic was a mess at that point, and I knew she needed someone to look at her wrist as soon as possible. Thankfully, Jesse Hubbard saw us and helped me with her. He wasn't going to let her go anywhere but the hospital. She finally relented when he mentioned that you would have his hide if he let her go without being checked out."

"He's right about that." Bianca muttered.

Sofia smiled knowing the truth of those words. "I followed the ambulance, and Jesse made sure I had a police escort."

"Remind me to thank him."

"I will. When we got to the hospital, Angie was waiting, and took Marissa right back to examine her. That's when I finally noticed the battery for her cellphone was dead. Luckily, she had a charger in her briefcase. I found an outlet, plugged it in, and saw I don't even know how many missed calls, texts, and voicemails. I was just getting ready to call you when your call came through."

"Thank you so much, Sofia. Have you had a chance to talk to Rebecca to let her know that you're okay?"

"I called her on my way here. She knows where I am and that I'm okay. Oh, Angie's coming. Hold on." Sofia held out the phone to the doctor. "I've got Bianca on the line."

"Oh good." Angie took the device. "Hi, Bianca."

"Hi, Angie. How's Marissa?"

"Stubborn, but I'm not telling you anything you don't know."

Bianca laughed for the first time in hours. "You've got that right. Other than that?"

"She's fine. She does have a broken wrist that I'm told resulted from a fall."

"Yeah, I was told that too. Tammy Baldwin pushed her when she tried to leave and Marissa wouldn't let her. It turns out that Marissa most likely saved her life, and she ends up with a broken wrist for it." Bianca couldn't hide the bitterness in her tone.

"That woman again?! For the life of me, I don't know what is wrong with her. Anyway, it's not a bad break. Marissa won't need surgery to correct it. She is in some pain though. It seems she was using her hand to construct something to block the ladies room door to keep her and a girl safe. Normally, I would yell at her for using it when it was clearly injured, but given the circumstances, I would've done the same thing. Her wrist has been set, and we are going to put a cast on it. I've also given her something for the pain. Are you on your way here?"

"I'm actually on my way home from New York. I was there on business for the Miranda Center when I found out what was happening."

"Oh, she should be free to go home in about 15 minutes. Do you want me to have her wait here for you, or is there someone you want me to call to come pick her up?"

Before Bianca could answer, she heard Sofia's voice.

"I can take her home. It's no problem. Unless, Bianca wants to do something else."

Bianca knew Marissa would be more comfortable at home, and the sooner her wife got there, the better. Marissa waiting around the hospital just so Bianca could take her home when someone else could do it quicker made no sense. "If Sofia is sure it's not a problem, I'd be grateful if she could take Marissa home."

"Sofia is nodding 'yes'. So that settles that. I'll release her to Sofia with some instructions as well as something for Marissa to take for any more pain. Let me get back to your wife so she can get out of here."

"Angie?"

"Yes?"

"Thank you. Could you do me one more favor?"

"If I can. What is it?"

"Tell Marissa I love her."

Angie smiled. "That's a message I'll be more than happy to pass on to her. I'm going to give you back to Sofia."

"Is there anything else you need, Bianca?"

"No. Thank you though. I'm going to call home, and let the kids know that she's okay and will be home shortly. Thank you for taking care of her and getting her home for me."

"You're welcome. I'll let you know when we get to Minx Manor." Sofia grinned.

Bianca chuckled. It seemed the whole of Pine Valley referred to the couple's home by the nickname Greenlee had bestowed upon it. "Thanks." With the call with Sofia disconnected, Bianca took a second to release a huge sigh of relief. While she hadn't talked to her wife, she did know that Marissa was alive and relativity okay after talking to Angie. Finally knowing that helped ease her fears considerably. They wouldn't entirely be gone until she actually saw Marissa, but it definitely helped. Bianca released one more sigh before calling home.

"She did what?!" Jo was glad she was alone in the couple's office when Bianca called back. When she heard what Tammy had done to her friend, the doctor was absolutely livid. "That … Ooh … I just want to …"

"Trust me, I know. I just can't even think about her right now. I need to concentrate on Marissa. I'll deal with Tammy later."

"I want in when you do. Whatever it is, I want in."

"Deal. Okay. Sofia will be bringing Marissa home shortly. Angie gave her something for the pain, and she's got a cast."

"It's a good thing Marissa's right-handed."

"I know. You and Jessica …"

"We will take good care of her until you get home."

"Thank you. I know you will. Okay, I'm ready to talk to the kids now. I just had to get that out about Tammy before I did."

"You good?"

"Yes, as good as I can be."

"Alright, I'm on my way back to the family room."

/

While Bianca talked to the kids, Jo told Jessica what happened. The older Shelton woman was fit to be tied. Jessica already didn't like Tammy for the things she had put the couple through in the past, but now, she had physically injured Marissa. That was something that the older would simply not stand for. Marissa was family, and Jessica couldn't love her any more than if she were her own daughter. No one, absolutely no one, hurt her family and got away with it.

Jo could read her mother's mind and whispered. "She'll get hers. Karma is a way bigger bitch than Tammy Baldwin."

Jessica smiled. "Very true, dear. I'm sure Marissa hasn't eaten anything in quite some time. I'm going to go fix her something, and Bianca as well. Odds are very good that she hasn't eaten anything either."

"Aunt Jo?"

"Yes, Miranda?"

"Mom said she wants to talk to you."

Jessica saw the girl had something on her mind. "What's on your mind, Miranda?"

"Is there anything we can do to help?"

"As it so happens, I was going to make your mothers something to eat. I could use some help."

"We'll help!" Gabby volunteered.

AJ and Miranda nodded as well. The kids were happy to do something that would help their mothers.

"Alright, let's get to work. They'll both be home soon."

Jo watched her mother and the three oldest Tasker-Montgomery children head to the kitchen before she turned her attention back to Bianca. "Is there anything else I can do for you?"

Bianca glanced down at her phone when she heard an alert. "Well, my battery is about to die. Could you call Kendall for me?"

"Sure, no problem. I'm sure she'll want to tell Erica. I can take care of telling Krystal if you want?"

"That would be great. Thank you."

"You're welcome. Be careful driving home, and I'll see you soon."

"I'll see you soon."

/

Jo's first call was to Kendall who had a similar reaction to hers when she found out what Tammy had done to her sister-in-law. It took everything Kendall had not to track the horrible woman down and skin her alive. She was so sick and tired of Tammy. Kendall could only imagine how Bianca and Marissa felt.

"I'll call Mom and Greenlee. They've both been anxious to hear something. I'm glad I can give them somewhat good news. Just so you know, they'll have their pitchforks ready for Tammy, and so will I."

"You won't be the only ones. I already told Bianca that I want in on whatever she wants to do. As for Mom, she is so pissed."

"I don't think I've ever seen your mom mad."

"Oh, it's something to behold. You don't want to be on the other end of it though. I'm sure Erica's the same way."

"Without a doubt. Bianca and I come by our Kane-woman fierceness honestly. What about Krystal?"

"I'll call her. Is there anyone else you can think of?"

"That should do it for tonight. Do you need anything else over there?"

"I think we're good. The kids are anxious to see Marissa. Mom's got them busy right now making Bianca and Marissa something to eat. We're pretty sure neither one of them have had anything to eat since at least lunch."

"That's a great idea, and you're right. They will probably be starving. Which reminds me, we're going to have to deal with Sarah too."

"Yeah, I know. I haven't forgot about her, but Tammy is definitely at the top of the payback list."

"Agreed. I'll give Sarah maybe a couple of points for getting Bianca back here. The whole phone thing though? Not cool, not cool at all."

"I couldn't agree more."

"Alright, I better get off of here and call Mom and Greenlee. Give Bianca and Marissa my love."

"I will."

"I'll check in on them tomorrow. It will be later in the morning though so they can sleep in, which they can do since the kids thankfully have the day off. If either of them need anything before then, let me know."

"I'll call you right away. See you tomorrow. Good night, Kendall."

"Goodnight, Jo."

"I really don't need a wheelchair, Angie."

The doctor smiled. She expected no less from the lawyer. "I know you don't, Marissa, but you know as well as I do that it's hospital policy." The two were waiting for Sofia to bring her car to the emergency room entrance to pick up the redhead.

Marissa sighed. "Sorry. Thank you for everything."

"You're welcome. How's the pain?"

"Getting better, thanks to you."

"Good. The pain meds will really start to kick in about a half hour or so. I had a prescription for some additional pain medication filled for you. It's just for a couple of days. Sofia has that."

Marissa rolled her eyes.

"Don't look at me like that." Angie sat down on the bench next to Marissa's wheelchair. The doctor recalled how tough Marissa was as well as how much she didn't want to take pain medication the last time she was in the hospital. "Look, I know you don't want to take it because of how it makes you feel."

"I know it helps, but I can't think straight when I take it. I don't like that."

"I get it, but can you think straight when you're in pain? The prescription I've given you is mild. What I gave you in the ER is hitting you a little harder because you haven't had anything to eat in a while and you're coming off that rush of adrenaline from earlier. When you get home, eat something and just relax. If you can, get some sleep. Be careful not to roll over on your wrist. Propping it up on a pillow will help with that. Absolutely no lifting. I know that will be hard with Danny, but I mean it."

Marissa scowled. "I know. I don't want to take a chance that I could possibly drop him. I promise I'll be good. Bianca will make sure that I am."

Angie laughed. "I have no doubt that she will. Your ride is here. I'm glad you're okay, Marissa."

"Thanks, Angie."

Sofia pulled up and hopped out of the car. She and Angie helped Marissa into the passenger seat. With the redhead secured and goodbyes exchanged, Sofia and Marissa headed to Minx Manor.

/

Marissa leaned back in the passenger seat of Sofia's car and closed her eyes. It had been one hell of a day, one that she had serious doubts about ending on a positive note. Now though, she was going home and would soon see her family, and Marissa could not wait. With things calmed down, a question crossed the redhead's mind.

"I have the distinct impression that something happened in that conference room that you haven't told me about, Sofia. Would you tell me now?"

Sofia glanced over quickly at her colleague and then back to road as she chuckled. "How did you know?"

"Just a feeling. Plus, Tammy was in there with you, and I unfortunately know her. So, spill. I can take it, especially since I'm properly medicated." Marissa grinned with her eyes still closed. The buzz from the pain medication she had been given had mellowed her out considerably.
